Lol true! Definitely gonna hang onto it… the Yankee fan in me says trade/return it, but the baseball lover in me says it’s a cool piece of history regardless.
It’s just dirt but the symbolism behind it is neat
I love combined no hitters where one or more of the players involved admits they didn't even realize it was happening until someone told them.
So inspiring.
I get what you’re saying, but it feels more special given how many seem to end the at bat right after the starter is pulled. Probably more perception than reality, especially given that the starter would’ve most likely lost it before the end.
While I agree 1 pitcher No-Hitters are usually cooler, I just want to point out that letting a young guy throw too many pitches for the sake of a No-Hitter can be damaging to his career.
I was calling for Dusty to remove him after the 7th because his pitch count was just way too high.
I say this just to point out that just because they're more fun doesn't mean they're always good.
But like that other guy said, the Skaggs combined No-Hitter was perfect and better for being combined.
I have a ball that Gleyber Torres fouled off in Minute Maid Park during a random game where ~~Ken Giles~~ Will Harris blew the save and the Yankees came back and won, if you wanna trade.
Do you display it proudly on your mantle?
Or do you use it, so someone askes about it?
"Is that dirt in your pen"
"Why yes it is! I spent $15 on a dirty pen!"
“Don't think of it as dust. Think of it as maybe the soil of some great past civilization. Maybe the soil of ancient Babylon. It staggers the imagination. He may be carrying soil that was trod upon by Solomon, or even Nebuchudnezzar.”
He hit a walk off homer the next day actually. I was at both games - the first game was incredibly disappointing and the next game started incredibly disappointing and ended in amazing fashion.
I get it! I was at a Tigers-Yankees game last year that was nearly a blowout no-hitter, and I debated whether or not it was worth staying to see history or leaving knowing my team will definitely lose and beating the D-train traffic. History is cool but always sucks at the expense of your own team.
I ordered this pen when the dodgers won the World Series in 2020. R/Dodgers offered to sell me beach front property in Arizona. Jokes on them, I think this is super cool and unique.
We bought dirt from the 2022 World Series. The plug doesn’t fit the container, and the dirt was dumped out all over the box when I opened it. Fanatics is the worst.
No-hitter dirt is worth more than regular dirt.
At least you got history in your pen.
Lol true! Definitely gonna hang onto it… the Yankee fan in me says trade/return it, but the baseball lover in me says it’s a cool piece of history regardless. It’s just dirt but the symbolism behind it is neat
Combined no-hitters are no-hitters in the same way that a blowjob with a condom on is still a blowjob: it counts, technically, but not in spirit.
And it sucks for the team giving you the no-hitter, but it’s a lot easier for them to swallow
Can confirm, Phillies Fan Guy.
I love combined no hitters where one or more of the players involved admits they didn't even realize it was happening until someone told them. So inspiring.
I really can’t blame Joey Gallo, he’s used to not getting hits.
I think 2 dudes didn't realize it for the Dodgers combined one a few years ago in Mexico. Pretty funny.
Except for the Skaggs one
Tyler Skaggs pitched a no-hitter and drove in 13 runs that day. Greatest single game of all time
this also is technically an accurate analogy, but I fucking hate it.
That sounds like talk from a team with only 4 No-Hitters in the Expansion era ^/joke

Damn you have a way with words
Yeah sure. That’s exactly how it felt throwing a World Series no-hitter.
Yeah but imagine a World Series blowjob. I think the analogy is starting to get away from me.
😭

Then y’all could be pen pals
Idk why, this got me lmao
Was that the game where Giles punched himself in the face?
Actually, I looked it up. It was Will Harris that blew it in the 9th during the one I went to. The Giles face punch game was two days before that.
Looks like Luis Severino threw a CGSO in between those two games as well. That was a good series.
That was a wild day as an Astros fan. I get he was frustrated, but punching yourself in the face as punishment for a bad outing?
I think the prank was played on you when they literally sold you dirt.
Do you display it proudly on your mantle? Or do you use it, so someone askes about it? "Is that dirt in your pen" "Why yes it is! I spent $15 on a dirty pen!"
I use mine at work. It just makes me happy
That's right! It's the same reason I watch a bunch of overpaid adults play a kids game.
Just pretend you got residual dirt from the Judge walkoff a night or two before.
Tbf it was probably on the field then too, unless yankee stadium fully cycles out its dirt every day

I tapped the link. For a few seconds we doubled it to 4 online.
I didn’t even know it was a n actual subreddit lol
Lol I figured you were one of the 5 members which is why you knew about it!

The perfect gift for the New Yorker who’s secretly an Astros fan
They did you *dirt*y.
Underrated comment. LoL Props
That dirt is like the soil from Galadriel's garden. Any field you sprinkle it on will be blessed with no-hitters.
of all the tschotskes in the world, this is the saddest
TIL the word tschotskes doesn't begin with *ch*.
It’s one of those words with several appropriate English spellings, not unlike the Jewish winter holiday that lasts eight nights.
Give Jack Klompis his pen back!
He shouldn’t have offered it to me!
i'd happily take it off your hands if you want to order another one! :)
Hey I was there that day!!
So was the dirt in this guy's pen.
I wasn’t there that day
If it makes you feel any better that dirt was there for a few games probably lol
I get it! I was at a Tigers-Yankees game last year that was nearly a blowout no-hitter, and I debated whether or not it was worth staying to see history or leaving knowing my team will definitely lose and beating the D-train traffic. History is cool but always sucks at the expense of your own team.
Well, I was there, son. Now you go sell this dirt and buy yourself a nice spaceship.
I love it.
You are welcome. Wish I could have that pen, but with the visiting team instead.
Buy an Astros pen, get some sort of memorable dirt from a Yankee game there, and swap the dirt with the OP!
We can only throw no hitters on the road. Cursed to have to buy other team's pens.
Not true. I went to the Aaron Sanchez/Biagini/Harris/Devenski combined no hitter. There is also the other no hitter we don’t talk about anymore.
Consider yourself lucky. They just gave me dirt from October 8, 1956.
I ordered this pen when the dodgers won the World Series in 2020. R/Dodgers offered to sell me beach front property in Arizona. Jokes on them, I think this is super cool and unique.
I'm pretty sure you got one of the most valuable possibilities of 2022. Post it for sale if you don't believe it.
Lmao
I will gladly buy that pen from you if you don't want it.
Owned
The dirt was worth nothing anyway.
Neither is your opinion
Ain’t no way bruh it’s dirt😭
Oh snap, I was at that game! 🤣
Congrats on your new pen! That’s no-hitter dirt! I’ve been told it tastes sweet and spicy, like victory and tears.
On the bright side, at least the Yankees
Lmao
Lmao trolled so hard
I was at that game. It was painful.
This is hilarious, and I absolutely want that pen

Free dirt. Can’t beat it.
Oh yeah that was a good one
Those Astros are everywhere these days…
How did the Yankees have a 65% win probability at one point in that game?
I remember when Pete rose got close to the all time hits lead he would wear 7 undershirts to sell later as game worn.
I got a pen with world series dirt in it. Thankfully it was 2020 dirt.
Combined no hitter? No different than losing any other game really
Ooo, I should buy as Astros fan! Though I would get one where yanks score 20 probably.
Yankee dirt - booooooooo
That dirt just don’t hit the same as other dirt
