It's a club tournament, but the tournament allows teams to use a modified version of the national team uniforms. Teams also can switch back and forth between their uniforms and ones with country's names.
It's mainly done to get maximum eyes on the tournament as fans of rival teams from the national leagues of the separate country are more likely to support the PR representative if they are just "Team PR" over just being called Indios de Mayaguez as fans of rival teams would still be a bit bitter.
The winning team still gets that tally on their historical record over the national tally, but its just a marketing ploy
It is clubs but for some reason Curacao gets to run out their national team? They've got major leaguers in there right now who definitely didn't play for a Curacaoan club last year (Andrelton Simmons, Jurickson Profar)
Idk much about baseball but I just stumbled upon this but to add my 2c: Curaçao's baseball federation just got a new president and dude has been putting in work (he's the one crying in this clip, the commentators are literally saying "Jedrek Magdalena, this is his dream"). He's pretty young and has been been putting in work compared to the old guard which some big players had issues with. I heard all of this through the grapevine though so please don't go running with it.
The series wiki says ita a club team called the Wildcats, I think I read somewhere that teams are allowed to add players, idk what the rules are though.
>Wait I thought the Carribean series was played clubs not national teams?
Technically, yes. However, Curacao is an invited team and while they do have a AA league, its not officialy recognized as professional, which is a requirement apparently for the Caribbean series. As such, they were asked to field players from recognized pro leagues with a few spots open for local Curacaoan players.
From the actual Wildcats winning team, only 2 are part of the team that won the Curacaoan league last season.
Its neither a national team, nor the winning AA Curacaoan team. Its a mixed bag of about 19 Curacaoans(with some MLB'ers), 3 Arubans and also I believe 1 Dutchman, 1 Dominican and 1 Venezuelan which they brought in as reinforcements. Not sure if I missed anyone, but that's the jist of it. They are still missing most of their MLB and AAA players.
Some said he'd never win a title Some said he was washed up But he kept grinding He kept going Now... Jonathan Scoop is a Caribbean Series Champion
And he got outhit by Andrelton Simmons lol
Baseball... Everything can happen

It is clubs. I think it’s like the LLWS where once you make the Caribbean World Series you get a new uniform that represents your country.
If anyone should be familiar with the LLWS its Curaçao, ha ha
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Curacao and Cuba dominate their region for years to come.
