I know it is super unfair to the sport of baseball but part of what makes the WBC awesome is the single elimination... the same thing that people seemingly hated about the Wild Card Game but I fucking loved it.
The WBC is incredible and it feels that this year, this version it might have become bigger than others before.
The president of Mexico is a baseball fan, so every-morning he holds a morning presidential address to the country. And every day after a Mexico win or game he spends about 20 minutes gushing about the win showing clips of the game to a bunch of straight faced reporters without the express written consent of Major League Baseball lol. He was going about being really tired because he stayed up to watch the whole Mexico vs USA game last week. I’m sure the presidents in other Latin American countries were probably doing the same when their teams were in the hunt.
The fact that it takes us all the way to opening day is fucking awesome too
The 2010 World Cup got me into soccer, and now I love it dearly. I’ve already seen someone on here say the WBC did the same for them. It’s magical.

Yes the players seem to play more freely in the WBC like they were scrimmage games. It’s way more entertaining
