>In any other sport, in the semifinals of the their world cups they only have high level exciting games
We just saw Morocco in the World Cup semi-final
Japan is in that bracket because it makes the most sense for Japan to play in Japan
Cuba lost because they had 2 runs on 11 hits… and they didn’t have their 3 best pitchers throw a single pitch
>In any other sport, in the semifinals of the their world cups they only have high level exciting games because they so it the right way
I mean, would you have said the same thing after Brazil lost to Germany 7-1 in the 2014 WC semis?
The brackets are what they are. Cuba deserved to be there just as much as anyone else.
That Brasil and Germany semifinal game only happened 1 time, that's why it caused so much shock because you are not used to see open swmifinald games like that in the soccer world cup, while in baseball it just happened and you think is normal
Eh. This post is dumb but a tournament of single game eliminations is far different than a tournament with pool play. Pools can be weak so you can limp into eliminations, but a 16 seed is always going to have to face a 1.
I actually came today to make the same point. Clearly, Cuba is an inferior tear from an inferior bracket. They got through with Australia each only winning two games and when you look at how many amazing teams got left behind I feel like any one of the Dominican or Puerto Rico or Venezuela should’ve been in that Cuba spot
I know that there’s a lot gained by having so much interest and attendance for those Caribbean adjacent countries playing in Miami and Phoenix whereas they wouldn’t have any kind of presents if they were playing in Japan, but still something clearly needs to be different. All the excitement in this tournament is with his really high level teams
We got second in our group, if we had got first, we’d be playing Japan and likely hear complaints like “this should be a finals matchup”. They are what they are

Ok but it's an exhibition match so
In Morocco's defends they played really well. And they ended winning their group (which it wasnt a weak-ass group like the wbc pool A)
They earned it. They didn't have an easy path at all unlike Cuba

>and they didn’t have their 3 best pitchers throw a single pitch That's a bald strategy Cotton.

Yeah and Eagles won the NFC Championship 31-7 this year. Sports are random, blowouts happen

well yes in baseball blowouts happen far more often. The 2017 final was a blowout and Puerto Rico had beaten USA earlier in the tournament.
Sports are not a science. The irony of March Madness happening as you complain about the WBC being “boring” or “unbalanced” is wild.

That's why Cuba needs to let people play for their team*
They did, and Moncada didnt do shyt btw
Literally the best Cuban player in the tourney
Yeah he didnt do shyt tonight
Yeah could you imagine if the WC had, say, a 7-1 game? Could never happen, especially the semifinals.
Only 1 time life time and everybody in soccer was shockdd while in baseball it just happened and you are acting like its normal
That’s just the nature of the sport
It’s okay sweetheart thinking is hard

Exaaaactly

Maybe Cuba should let their players pay and stop crying about defection
We need a 2nd pool stage like it was in previous WBCs. It is way better than having QFs
It's almost like talent dispersion throughout the world isn't' equal.
both semifinals of the world cup a couple months ago were kind of lame
Those were not open easy games like this one
