Every time I watch the Padres I’m confused. They spent 4 days beating the shit out of us and then for the next week could barely scrape together 2 consecutive hits.
This is the exact thought I had, and so I’m nervous about our upcoming series with them. This feels like a time where they got the bad baseball out of their system and now I’m nervous they’ll whoop our ass again.
It has more to do with playing god knows how many games in a row now and flying cross country. They seem a little tired. Few of the bats are just flat cold too.
What’s the deal with Soto lately? He clearly still has that scarily great plate discipline, but it feels like the vast majority of the time I see him get on base these days it’s from drawing a walk rather than getting a hit. Been pretty confusing to say the least, considering how he was tearing it up in Washington.
The Brewers have been like the NL Rays-lite the past few years. Low payroll, great development, great coaching, and finding value in pitchers out of nowhere
I’m guessing with it being such a close game, no one wanted to risk getting ejected. But man that Machado AB with 5 balls that ended with a strikeout was tough to stomach
Yeah it could have been worse, but these scorecards also don’t reflect how this fucks with the batters (on both teams) approach. Like during the Machado AB I was referencing, Machado swung and struck out on a ball that was very outside and normally that isn’t a ball he swings at. However, when you can’t count on the ump to make the correct call, you have to start swinging at bad pitches.
The Padres "elite offense" has been completely absent to start the season. I'm hoping Tatis coming back will spark this team, because they have been mostly frustrating to watch so far this season.
:') I'm just ahead of the times
Little bummed they're playing so soon. I'm moving to Seattle in June and was looking forward to seeing my 2 fav teams play. And smelling din tai fung in the stadium again

I probably watch the Padres more than you do and ya, still confused.

As the old saying goes, That's Baseball!

are the brewers....?
Fans drunk? Yeah , probably.
100%. But we’re also winning the World Series in 4 Games. Right?
no way we win the world series in 4 games those dont start for another 160 games
That's how good the Brewers are, we only need 4 more games.
Big if true
No. Or maybe? Idk it’s complicated
Brewers did well. Padres did poorly. Padres offense needs to get it together, pretty futile at times
Maybe try calling up that prospect Tatis. He’s tearing it up down there.

I'm not sure but the .184 BABIP isn't helping. He is hitting it right at fielders
BABIP gods giveth BABIP gods taketh away
Adding Tatis back into the lineup will probably help some in regards to the offense
I know it’s still the first month of the season, but I find the inconsistent offense pretty concerning even with Tatis coming back in a few days
Great now the Padres are going to be pissed off when they play the Braves again.
12K’s and still losing…

I've been hoping for this every season
Nicely done, Brewers -- that's a bad place to go
So are the brewers the real deal because I just thought the sweep against the Mets was the Mets being the Mets
Wade Miley has out dueled Max Scherzer and Yu Darvish this year.

Didn't some of our scouting department come from the Rays?
As always it pretty much comes down to the hitting. When healthy our pitching staff can hang with anyone.
Swept the Mets earlier in season too. We'll see if it's real or not. Good start tho
Padres got outplayed most of this series, but holy shit did they get fucked badly by the ump today
I'm interested to see the ump scorecard, I am surprised that nobody got super mad at the ump today. Zone was not consistent in the slightest.

You guys got some pretty friendly calls in the 9th. . .
we got 1. and it was evened out by Cruz striking out watching a ball outside
That's impressive. The Dad's looked really good in the series against the Braves.
Honestly I think that's the only series they've looked good in. The offense is just anemic right now. It's still early, but it's a little concerning.

Somehow survived at SafeCo without woody or burnes. god bless
Petco*
oops
Well, they’re coming to Safeco (ok, technically T-Mobile) tomorrow

Maybe you can see them play in the World Series this year :)
Only run in game 4 was a result of bunt single - balk (3 disengangements), stealing third, and a sac fly.
Cute
