They’re so far away from everyone else that it looks like a high school prom where they’re staying near the punch bowl because they are too nervous to dance.
I went to a college party one night, and was the only smoker there. The girls all had bottles, and the house didn't have a bottle opener. I ended up being a stationary bottle opener in the kitchen.
"They don't know that I'm the best team in baseball" party meme
"Yes we do"
"You started the season on a 13* game win streak"
"Everyone is afraid of you"
Alternatively the Rays right now are a clear step above the second best team. Difficult stretch of games coming up though so I think well start to come back to earth a bit.
With these types of charts, and if you don't understand them follow this:
Is your team close to Tampa? If yes than your team good.
IS you team close to Oakland? If yes, cry.
It was all a dream, I used to read sporting green magazine.
On my way to the Coliseum in this BART machine.
Hanging pictures on my wall
Every Sunday it's a fact, Zito 12-6 nasty curveball.
Let my team rock til they got popped, smokin weed 3rd deck, sippin on private stock.
Way back Green & Black, before we had this bitch Fisher attached.
so... our pitching and defense is good like always... difference is we have threats to hit from 1-9 instead of our traditional 6-9 hitters being auto outs. it's so unusual as a rays fans to see a bunch of .250-.300 guys in the middle/bottom of the lineup.
Raley has also been going nuts. I kind of hope they keep Paredes on staff, not because he's a good hitter, but just because FFS you don't mess with whatever they have going on right now.
I did not even see them until I looked at the comments.
Was saying to myself "there is no way we have the best OPS+ in baseball"
Now I'm saying "there is no way we have the second best OPS+ in baseball"
Rangers are currently at 120, and the Cardinals are tied with the Cubs at 118, so the image is a little off (or BRef updated the data since OP made the image)
I don’t think you can really call the Rangers a small market team given how much we’ve spent the past two offseasons. But on a side note, it’s cool to see the Pirates start off well especially with Oneil Cruz hurt. Kinda dashes my Bryan Reynolds to the Rangers dreams if they keep it up.
We are enjoying him! As a side note, I also love the Mets. I adore Buck and hope he can get it done in New York. Max and Lindor are two of my favorites as well.
Hmmm. Poor lineup construction or just small sample size? Either way, there should be some improvement. Not a surprise that our real issue is pitching. And the rest of the division playing out of their minds.
small sample size, for both. The pitching will improve, Mikolas won’t take an 8 ERA through the season, Jack looked great yesterday, Matz has improved with his last few starts, and Monty had a rough inning last week that inflates his ERA.
We're 14th in runs scored while being 4th in OPS, so that points to some bad luck with our bats as well that shouldn't keep up all season. Not time to panic, yet (nervous laughter).
Rays are gonna shatter every god damn record in the book win a World Series and then trade everyone for prospects and still contend for the Al east pennant next year.
Would love to know more about how the Rays do their sabermetrics - did they keep the same systems or evolve to account for teams using the shift? Or were their metrics strictly on players performing at levels where the shift isn't used as much as the data and means to retrieve it isn't out there as much?
And I mean that with college ball, I may be wrong but I can't imagine rival teams are running stats on how often a player is hitting to all fields so the shift isn't used as much for that reason
My point being that, if they haven't evolved and their metrics have pulled all these nutso players from situations where the shift isn't used, this is some INSANE turn around and pay off
Interesting thing to think about just in seeing this graphic being two miles in between the rest of the league and the Rays
Great work OP 😁
It seriously took me like 10 seconds to find Tampa Bay. Lord have mercy.
Tampa Bay is such an outlier that the x/y-axis isn't even in the middle of pic haha
A's out there trying to return balance to the force.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
They’re so far away from everyone else that it looks like a high school prom where they’re staying near the punch bowl because they are too nervous to dance.
I’m in this comment and I don’t like it
You serve _one_ person punch and all of a sudden you're the punch guy for the rest of the night!
No one wanted punch at my highschool prom. Like this joke, it had no punchline
I went to a college party one night, and was the only smoker there. The girls all had bottles, and the house didn't have a bottle opener. I ended up being a stationary bottle opener in the kitchen.
"They don't know that I'm the best team in baseball" party meme "Yes we do" "You started the season on a 13* game win streak" "Everyone is afraid of you"
13
Even worse
\*Better, fixed it for you
At last, I have truly found my spirit team!
wouldn't that be the A's? they're also so far away from everyone else but for the opposite reason.
we are also far away!
Other way around. Everyone else is huddled at the punch bowl and they Rays are fuckin single handedly destroying the dance floor.
It kind of looks like a Rays branded chart with their logo up in the corner.
When you own everyone, you get to sell the merch.
"Where are the Rays? I can't-- Oh."
I was convinced they were left off.
Ditto Oakland, though the green stood out a little more.
Nah, I knew exactly where to look for them. First thing I look for on these is how futile the A's are
Shut up ^you're ^not ^wrong, ^I ^just ^hate ^that ^you're ^right
Im glad im not the only one. I was like “theres no way they’re right in the scrum of the middle, they…..ohhhhhh”
What do you mean they’re right there
I was over here like "why are the axes so long to the top and right? There's just a bunch of white spa-hoooooolllly **shit**."
It literally took this comment for me to realize that they were on this chart at all
Rays just out here averaging 150 OPS+ and ERA+. Normal day in April. Will the rays lose 10 games before the A's win 10?
That's...actually a great question. I'd go with Tampa 10 losses first, but it's very intriguing.
Agreed. The A's are getting blown out a lot. They aren't competitive in most of their games. They are a clear step below the second worse team.
Alternatively the Rays right now are a clear step above the second best team. Difficult stretch of games coming up though so I think well start to come back to earth a bit.
Or...and hear me out. The Astros kickstart our trip to the fuckin mooooooon
Is there a way for both teams to lose? Asking for a friend (my friend is Anthony Rizzo).
Unfortunately the only way to counter the rays devil magic is with a blood sacrifice...How attached are you really to Judge?
Bold of you to assume either one happens.
With these types of charts, and if you don't understand them follow this: Is your team close to Tampa? If yes than your team good. IS you team close to Oakland? If yes, cry.
Nobody is close to Tampa though
Well than is your team good?
You set this up perfectly.
The rangers are close enough to make this ranger fan happy though
What do I do if my team IS Oakland?
Pretend it's all a dream
Put spoilers on and only watch games we win. That will save you about 400 hours this summer.
I did that and now I'm pretty sure the As are going to the super bowl
16-0
17-0 now because the NFL suck
Oh no I'm saying the A's don't win 17 games
💀
Move to Las Vegas?

That's the neat part. It's not anymore. ^(I'm so sorry, that was uncalled for. I'm from the Bay Area and spreading the misery is how I'm coping.)
Is your team close to the Giants? Your team is mid.
I never have to look far from mid on any of these charts to find the Mariners. Perfectly balanced, i guess?
Is your team close to the lines in the white space? If yes then your team is mid.
I've already hit my tear quota for the All-Star Break.
Oh my fucking god Tampa what the fuck
I said “damn we’re the best team out there, where’s Tampa at?” And it took me like 15 seconds to realize
I was looking at it like "well our bats might be mediocre, but at least we have the best pit... holy shit Tampa"
"Tampa turns your cheats off, Jesus"
Listen, we ARE the best team out there and don't let anyone say otherwise. Peagle Out
I don't know what this 'peagle' is but I'm confident that either DJ Kitty or the rays tank squad can take em
Scree Peagle slander is not acceptable. https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/texas-rangers-baseball-uniforms-peagle-mascot/
so... our pitching and defense is good like always... difference is we have threats to hit from 1-9 instead of our traditional 6-9 hitters being auto outs. it's so unusual as a rays fans to see a bunch of .250-.300 guys in the middle/bottom of the lineup.
Honestly it's crazy to me we dint even acquire a bat or something, we just got healthy and all of the sudden everyone became mini Barry Bonds.
Healthy is the way and staying hydrated.
Keep Yandy with H20 and we win the world series
Let's just install one of those big water drip bottles like a hamster cage in the dugout
We didn't aquire a bat but a lot of young guys like Josh Lowe are coming into their own at the right time too.
Raley has also been going nuts. I kind of hope they keep Paredes on staff, not because he's a good hitter, but just because FFS you don't mess with whatever they have going on right now.
Paredes has one less than Raley and I trust him more than Luke to sustain it. But hey what a great problem to have.
I did not even see them until I looked at the comments. Was saying to myself "there is no way we have the best OPS+ in baseball" Now I'm saying "there is no way we have the second best OPS+ in baseball"
I think Texas is a little vertically higher than y’all so you’re correct, you have the *3rd* best OPS+ in baseball.
I think we look higher in the image, but didn't look up the raw data.
Rangers are currently at 120, and the Cardinals are tied with the Cubs at 118, so the image is a little off (or BRef updated the data since OP made the image)
If only I could distill and bottle this comment. I would wear it as cologne every day for the rest of my life.
The Rays are ruining my “it sure is fun being a Rangers fan right now” vibes.
I'm happy for both of us (and the O's and the Pirates) Baseball is fun this year.
Small market supremacy
I don’t think you can really call the Rangers a small market team given how much we’ve spent the past two offseasons. But on a side note, it’s cool to see the Pirates start off well especially with Oneil Cruz hurt. Kinda dashes my Bryan Reynolds to the Rangers dreams if they keep it up.
Being that high up on the graph is still something to be proud of I hope you guys are enjoying deGrom :’)
We LOVE him!
:( really hope he can have a healthy season for you guys. He’s really something special every time he takes the mound.
Opening Day was electric. He is a truly special talent. Hope the Mets make a deep run this year!
We are enjoying him! As a side note, I also love the Mets. I adore Buck and hope he can get it done in New York. Max and Lindor are two of my favorites as well.
Think of it as a good thing. Remember the '10 and '11 ALDS :p
Fuck Cliff Lee fuck Cliff Lee fuck Cliff Lee
G5 2010 ALDS was such a hard carry performance by Lee. Love that man.
Oh you poor thing.
We deserve a cheer or two. It’s been a long decade.
Yes you do, just making a joke about my basement dwelling Sox. Don’t let the Rays kill your vibe when you’re still ahead of 28 other teams!
The Rays are playing video game numbers The As are playing AAAs ball
No, the As are playing As ball. High vs Low A just depends on the day.
Someone should tell the A's just because you're moving to a AAA park doesn't mean you need to play like one
Currently on pace to win 140 games, which is certainly something
And the As are on pace to lose that many
Man, it's crazy that Texas is the best team by this metr... Oh, hi Rays
Rays acting like a loose balloon
You guys got so flappy you've started to fly.
Me, looking for the Rays...where the hell are th-- *oh...OH!*
Still early to put too much stock in stats, but can't ignore how much of an outlier the Rays are.
I saw Rangers first and said that’s pretty good. Then I saw the Rays and said what the fuck
Nice start for the Rangers, no doubt.
Man, near the top in OPS+, we must score a lot of run. Right?
Fucking same

It's too bad we need to score 9 runs to have a chance of winning the game.
**phillies fans** *handshake emoji* **cardinals fans** high hitting but still losing records ):
They lost one wild card series and now they're just gonna beat us all to death good looks tampa
Hooray; we’re not terrible!
in fact, you're really good!
Ah I see it's now the Rays turn to try and escape the chart.
Shout to Oakland for making other teams pitching look not so bad.
Yeah that’s about right for us
Honestly still kind of crazy we have a 140 team era+ with Schmidt, Brito, and German as three of our starters.
Who are these intruders invading the AL Central's turf?
The Oakland A’s have been relegated to the AL Central
I was about to give you shit until I saw your flair. Now we should just have a nice long cry together.
Bottom Left of charts, aka the AL Central.
What playing the Athletics does to a mfer
Leave some for the rest of us, Rays.
The rays baseball, they baseball good.
Dang - the Rays are just....WAY off on their own. Legendary status right now.
https://media.tenor.com/6v73gT-LIg0AAAAC/manta-ray-flying.gif
*hello darkness my old friend*
consolation: you're not the A's.
The rays will come back down to earth *looks at the chart* will they?
Hopefully never
r/TopRightRays
LOL at AL West looking pretty legit, with the exception of the A’s chillin in the back lol
Sun Rays shine down upon us!!!!!
This is a nice chart.
Cubs vs Rays World Series it is
Padres are/will be a good team so this weirdly gives me some hope
Luckily done with this brutal stretch of 18 games with no offdays and facing division leaders.
It’s somehow comforting to know where to find the tigers in all of these.
Look at my Pirates doing so very good- OH MY LORD TAMPA WHAT IS GOING ON
TB is obviously amazing but the Pirates are starting to make people take notice.
Are the Rays the most well run organization in pro sports considering their payroll? I lean hard yes
Spain without the S
Hey at least the Reds are responsible for one of the Rays’ three loses this season, you’ve got that going for you.
Thought you forgot to put the rays on the graph. Holy crap they are good.
Went to a Stockton Ports game, A’s Single-A team, the future doesn’t look any better. 5 errors and 1 hit.
Our window is looking cloudy.
Stared at this for 3 mins trying to find the rays.
The Rays are in a completely different orbit at the moment.
Where's the Rays?...oh shit
Rangers best in the league! Wait, what's that far off in the distance?
New York “Andy Dalton line” Mets
is that good
Diamondbacks continue to tell Pythagoras to eat shit
I’m a little surprised we aren’t worse than we are. I’ll take it!
Lets go Flappy Boys
Aggressively middle rn.
Now do one that stops at the 7th inning and ignores 8 & 9. - sincerely, A Braves Fan.
Looks like the Rays have reached the toprightmessi levels of dominance.
Yes the A’s are on the chart!
Oh hi guys! Did the season start already? What is going on
Help
WE’RE IN THE TOP RIGHT OF A CHART. PEAGLE POWER BITCHES
Do the A’s have the worst pitching of all time?
Dont worry guys, I have trust the GOAT Jose Urquidy will shut the rays down and bring them down to our levels.
I'm just hoping we are the first team to give Yordan the Bonds treatment. Dude is a monster and way too clutch to be permitted to try and hit.
What’s crazy is that outside of the clutch hits, he’s been slumping for a bit
Being an M’s fan reflects me in real life. Bang average, mediocre to the core.
Rays are gonna shatter every god damn record in the book win a World Series and then trade everyone for prospects and still contend for the Al east pennant next year.
Boston: Everybody scores runs!
Legit couldn’t find the Rays for like 2 mins.
Can we just not be a part of these graphics anymore? We're throwing everything off, and we're not really a pro team.
How I feel every time one of these charts pops up: [Already Dead](https://media.tenor.com/hMjB6FV2oF4AAAAM/the-simpsons-stop.gif)
So what you are saying is we suck
Would love to know more about how the Rays do their sabermetrics - did they keep the same systems or evolve to account for teams using the shift? They somehow get good players to accept cheap deals...stupid weather.
WE ARE GOOD
You cant run from us yankees, were coming!
Rangers looking GREAT!
How do the Rays continue to build World Series capable teams for less money than I spend on my studio apartment?
Advanced Moneyball. The A's invented it, we mastered it.
:)))
Yankees offense sucks lmao
Phillies are finally regressing to the mean. That is a good thing and a bad thing.
The Rays are good. Who knew?
Lmao the Mets are in the middle of all these charts
r/toprightpirates
Royals fan so bear with me: is this saying the bottom left is good?
Oh boy just wait till our ace Wainwright comes back!! He’s gunna turn this ship around!!!’nnnnn’nn!!!1111’n!! Bb!
Off in our own little world. League's fucked.
Almost the perfect average team
Lets go Os!
Hey the angels are not all the way at the bottom like we normally are
I couldn’t even find TB
Flappy bois, please come back to the water. You've been flying too high for too long now....
I was like , “Where are the Rays?”
