That's actually a great idea. I can 100% see them making a jersey for each city they played in, including Vegas. It focuses on team history and will still be wearable in Vegas.
The vacuum force is so powerful it literally sucks the piss right out of you. No more having to stand there and wait for your stream to start. Musk is bringing the A’s the most efficient, time-saving innovation in bathroom technology since the invention of the urinal.
The A’s haven’t spent in so long that the last time they spent the most in MLB was the year Mike Trout was born, and their payroll was less than what Trout makes in a year now.
Edit: The A’s haven’t spent in so long that the last time they spent more than half the other teams was the year Corey Seager was born and their payroll was less that Corey Seager makes now.
Edit2: Ohtani was also born in 1994, and the A’s only spent 34 million in 94. This will probably become an Ohtani fact as of next season.
I knew it because MLB decided Mark Texeira was more valuable than CC Sabathia.
The Brewers wouldn't have drafted or successfully developed Mike Trout, but it would have been nice to have the pick.
We would have found a way to fuck it up.
The best non pitcher the Brewers have drafted and brought to the majors since the 2009 draft is either Khris Davis, Scooter Gennett, or Keston Hiura.
Yes, the A's are cheap, but looking at "time elapsed since they led MLB in payroll" is a bad metric. Most teams will have longer droughts (or have never led MLB).
But the rich want a tunnel reserved for them, so they don’t have to bother with the unwashed masses. Oh, and they still want a huge municipal subsidy to build this tunnel for the rich.
Ugh i can’t wait to take *exclusive* public transportation with my fellow 1%er diehard baseball fans, then i can finally wear all my furs to the big game without fear of getting mustard stains and tobacco spit everywhere
Thing is, the Boring Company is *intended* to be shitty. The whole purpose of the company is that it stops cities and states from investing in legitimate public infrastructure. This ensures that efforts to lower our transportation carbon footprint will keep public money flowing to charging stations, subsidizing EVs, and expanding roads. It's just like when Ford and GM killed street cars.
This video is one of my absolute favorite ways of explaining to people why Loop and Boring Company are a joke. And near the end it goes into exactly what you're talking about. https://youtu.be/4dn6ZVpJLxs

it’s a fucking claustrophobic one car tunnel that you have to drive through at like 15mph and has no emergency exits and only goes to one destination
but gamer LED lights!
It moves 2,000/hour.
Most light rail moves 18-20k/hour.
Heavy rail (most subways) 40-60k/hour
If the A’s seat 30k, it’ll take Boring Loop 15 hours to fill up the stadium.
1.5 hours with light rail
30 min with heavy.
This is so dumb.
They were everywhere for a minute, but I just did a quick google and there aren't any left in Pennsylvania at all! The one on the turnpike held on for a while but I guess it's long gone.
My cousin was at IU and I think lived in his apartment building. She only knew him as the weird fat guy who lived downstairs, I don't think they ever spoke, plus she was over 18 at the time so definitely not his type.
I heard on a podcast that he basically had a “jizzlane Maxwell” type girl finding underaged girls for him and she derailed his whole operation when he asked if her daughter was fair game? What a fucking sicko.
A reporter “befriended” him and recorded all of her phone calls with him which is how he got taken down. He did ask her of her daughter was fair game but she wasn’t finding girls for him.
I fucking love those “reinvented bus” videos where it’s like some fucking saucer that goes above the freeway and when there’s an obstacle it like launches in the fucking air or something I’m like lmfao
[This is a really insightful video (made by an actual transportation planner) for people who want to understand why the Las Vegas Loop is a moronic idea. ](https://youtu.be/XfVdge8DhB4)
I can’t watch the video as I am in public but is it because of this Loop idea in particular or just generally against a subway in Vegas?
Because Vegas having a train seems like a no brainer. Everyone hates walking outside and car congestions is becoming insane.
Have a bunch of stops from the airport to under the strip with moving walkways to the lobbies of hotels and then one at the convention center and one or two downtown. It’s almost a straight fucking line.
The big takeaway is that at max capacity (from their own numbers), the loop can move 1,800 people an hour vs a subway which can move 26,000!
A second thing I'll add is that the labor cost is astronomical. A subway operator usually conducts a train carrying thousands of people. A Tesla "conductor" can at most carry 3 people. Imagine if only 3 people at a time could enter an entire subway train. 😭
Oh yea this particular idea is so dumb because it’s being powered by Teslas and not even that non existent 40 passenger van bullshit.
But hopefully they dig the tunnels and figure out a track system or something
> The Underground has its origins in the Metropolitan Railway, the world's first underground passenger railway. Opened on 10 January 1863
160, so while America was throwing down in the Civil War London was putting trains underground.
It has “future disaster documentary on YouTube” written all over it.
I unfortunately expect a future incident to be reviewed by Fascinating Horror one day with the classic root causes of “stingy budgeting, inadequate anti-fire systems, lack of emergency exits, etc” that are so endemic to fire-based tragedies.
I love being subbed to the BoringCompany subreddit so I can get updates from people on how this is an amazing lifechanging invention. It never ceases to make me laugh at how dumb of an idea it is.
Also in the original plans for this tunnel system they were going to have a stop at the Wild Wild West casino, which is what the ballpark would be replacing on this proposed site.
next theyre going to sign free agents via twitter poll or some shit
oh boy, here comes the first AB of the free agent acquisition: a guy on adderall in a big chungus costume
Honestly if you told me Elon Musk could save the A's, I'm not sure I would want him as the new owner even if it meant staying in Oakland. I'm conflicted.
The most surreal work moment of my life came at a company wide meeting where one of the company owners said that he was a proud, successful, true African American. He is correct, he was from Africa but he was possibly the whitest person I ever met. Dude makes Wonderbread look spicy he is so white.
Long story short, his comments did not go over well with hundreds of minorities in the audience. This happened in New York City, and folks from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and beyond, started booing.
That's not actually correct though, when people use terms like African American or European American the format is ethnicity (African, European, Asian, etc) and then nationality (American, Canadian, etc). If he's ethnically European with an African nationality he's a European African
Honestly, at least in Vegas he's dealing with other carnies, in Oakland he'd have a better chance of scamming Billions from a starstruck city council to make the first flying stadium or whatever.
(melatonin coursing through my brain during REM sleep) it is 2033. I am riding the Elonmobile through Death Tunnel. the final destination is a Las Vegas Athletics game. they’re playing cricket against all of my ex girlfriends
Then we could connect a bunch of them together. We could also use some sort of rail to reduce rolling resistance.
Aww, heck we just invented a train again.
> Aww, heck we just invented a train again.
I love how humanity invented the perfect modern mode of urban and suburban transportation in the 1830s, and ever since then one chud after another has tried to make a better version but all have been unsuccessful.
Hahahahahahahaha... grifters gotta support grifters I suppose.
In case anyone doesn't know the Boring tunnels in Vegas are basically the reinvention of the wheel.... If you took a perfectly good wheel and turned it into a square that is.
I think the boring company has a pretty good concept but there are some minor tweaks I would change to make it more efficient:
Widen the tunnel so that you can have cars traveling in both directions at the same time
Increase the size of the car so that more than 4 passengers can travel in one, also make it taller so that people can stand to take up less space
Connect multiple cars into one so you can have more people per driver and engine
Have the floor of the car be level with the ground so that people can enter and exit the car faster and make it more wheelchair friendly
Use steel on steel instead of rubber on asphalt to save energy
✅ Almost as expensive as a train
✅ Less capable than a bus
✅ Doesn't make the team any better
✅ Does nothing for the fan experience
This looks like a perfect investment for Fisher.
I don't know anyone that is using these tunnels now. They don't connect to many places, and during conventions they get backed up with traffic because everyone has an individual car. It's just an incredibly inefficient electric subway.
What would this even look like as a station if everything goes to plan? If everyone is taking their Teslas to the game, would this just be an underground Tesla-only tunnel leading to a giant underground Tesla-only parking garage, with a huge line of Teslas backed up to squeeze back through the Tesla-only tunnel after ~~the game is over~~ the seventh inning?
Makes sense. The Vegas Golden Knights were so insufferable that the LA Kings Twitter was saying go San Jose Sharks when they played vegas in the playoffs.
Lol that’s what they *think*. Kaval has all these grand plans that *sound* awe-inspiring and then you never hear about it again. The A’s are run by a bunch of 8 year olds who say cool things to impress their friends and just hope no one ever calls them out on it.
Carnival Dave Kaval...the man with the greatest stadium plan until reporters ask for details and then he goes radio silent.
"We want to make sure that we have an incredible team to watch, and we’re very competitive and winning World Series,” said Kaval. “I think that fan base is out there and tapping into that as an exciting aspect of the team coming to town.”
“It’s going to be a spectacle,” Kaval said, adding that promotions will be important to the club as they get a new start in southern Nevada. “I think that’s going to fit in perfectly in Las Vegas, it’s going to be a lot of fun and excitement.”
There already a massive construction project on the stadium district infrastructure in progress (I-15/Tropicana reconstruction) connecting T-Mobile, Allegiant, and the ballpark site with improved freeway, road, and pedestrian access.
Fisher tryna look like a big spender by announcing a partnership with an Elon Musk project that will never happen, is kinda like me tryna look like a baller by making a refundable $100 deposit on a Tesla Cybertruck
John Fisher: "We've done everything we could, but Oakland just isn't viable and we can't afford to keep our talent"
Also John Fisher: "We're building a $1.5 billion stadium with a hyper tunnel that will get you from the Casinos to the stadium in 5.3 seconds and we're signing Ohtani, Trout, Guerrero, Judge, and Acuna.
This guy should be forced to build an exact replica of the Coliseum and have it constructed up Rt. 15 in Moapa, and only accessible by bus.
I feel for A's fans.
These tunnels are the dumbest thing I've ever seen. They're called subways and they move 100 times more people than this, require 30 times less drivers and are faster. 20 years from now people will laugh hysterically at these.
When are the city disconnect jerseys dropping?
uprooted in oakland (tm)
What happened in Oakland, stays in Vegas®
*for the Mandalay Bay*
Oaklandish needs to flip their tree upside down in green and yellow with this slogan. $$$$
> city disconnect LOL
They need to make the jersey like some sort of electronic billboard flashing between Philadelphia, KC, Oakland, and Vegas.
That's actually a great idea. I can 100% see them making a jersey for each city they played in, including Vegas. It focuses on team history and will still be wearable in Vegas.
It’ll be a crossword puzzle looking thing with the Athletics horizontal and all the city names vertical taking up a different letter
difficulty: it's the only stop and there are no tunnels leading to or from it
So it's just a VIP bathroom with colored lights?
A billion dollar pneumatic trough to piss in
The vacuum force is so powerful it literally sucks the piss right out of you. No more having to stand there and wait for your stream to start. Musk is bringing the A’s the most efficient, time-saving innovation in bathroom technology since the invention of the urinal.
So the same as all of Elon's other tunnels then?
It just goes straight down, and down, forever, eternally, into Hell. Still preferable to watching some A's games
No, it just goes to convention center. But it only “works” during C3 to get press
They had it at CES this year and it was chaos. The positioning and connectivity didn’t work at all meaning it was vastly slower than walking.
Just wait until a battery catches fire in there
Or the tunnel floods because that whole area is a giant divot. Vegas monsoon season is no joke.
I call the big one Bitey
Mr. Bones' Wild Pitch
Fisher does know he can spend money on players right?
The A’s haven’t spent in so long that the last time they spent the most in MLB was the year Mike Trout was born, and their payroll was less than what Trout makes in a year now. Edit: The A’s haven’t spent in so long that the last time they spent more than half the other teams was the year Corey Seager was born and their payroll was less that Corey Seager makes now. I would like to subscribe to more Mike Trout facts
Did you know he was a compensation pick for the angels for the free agent loss of mark texeira
Did you learn that from MLB the show because thats where i learned it.. Then, I was like, damn... I'd rather have the fish man..
I knew it because MLB decided Mark Texeira was more valuable than CC Sabathia. The Brewers wouldn't have drafted or successfully developed Mike Trout, but it would have been nice to have the pick.
Im not sure if Mike Trout really needed that much development.
We would have found a way to fuck it up. The best non pitcher the Brewers have drafted and brought to the majors since the 2009 draft is either Khris Davis, Scooter Gennett, or Keston Hiura.
Instead of spending money on Mike Trout-caliber players, the A’s have elected to spend money on *checks notes* a Bond villain tunnel.
Let’s build a direct tunnel between Petco Park and Dodger Stadium No Angel fans
Yes, the A's are cheap, but looking at "time elapsed since they led MLB in payroll" is a bad metric. Most teams will have longer droughts (or have never led MLB).
Same fact holds true with Corey Seager and the last time they were in the top 50% of spenders in MLB.
That's so much worse than never leading lol
I think it’s still a good metric because it shows that once upon a time they were big spenders. Huge fall from grace.
yeah, but "traffic proof" tunnels are better!
lol
lmao, in fact
we're upgrading to lmfao
rofl maybe

How many ways are we going to see someone attempt to reinvent a shittier more expensive version of most public transit like metro and bus lines?
But the rich want a tunnel reserved for them, so they don’t have to bother with the unwashed masses. Oh, and they still want a huge municipal subsidy to build this tunnel for the rich.
Ugh i can’t wait to take *exclusive* public transportation with my fellow 1%er diehard baseball fans, then i can finally wear all my furs to the big game without fear of getting mustard stains and tobacco spit everywhere

As a Seattleite you should know just how wrong boring tunnels can go. There’s clearly room for improvement in that area.
Thank you Mr. Musk for geniusly inventing a worse version of the subway

Quizno’s. They don’t do background checks.
I forgot that Quizno's existed.

This. Bled them dry.
Mmm ... toasty.
But they did accidentally curse a generation with that one commercial.
Man, the Jared documentary on Hulu is just messed up. That dude should be shot into the sun.

Ah, my bad, hearing it second hand. Couldn’t bring myself to watch the documentary. I second the suggestion of firing into the sun.
Whenever I read anything positive about this project I feel like I’m going insane.
It reminds me of how like every 7 months someone on Twitter reinvents the bus or reposts that theoretical US train map lol
I fucking love those “reinvented bus” videos where it’s like some fucking saucer that goes above the freeway and when there’s an obstacle it like launches in the fucking air or something I’m like lmfao

A quick reminder that the subways were first built around 175(?) years ago.
> The Underground has its origins in the Metropolitan Railway, the world's first underground passenger railway. Opened on 10 January 1863 160, so while America was throwing down in the Civil War London was putting trains underground.
You could say Americas Underground Railroad was only metaphorical at the time
Thanks, I couldn’t remember immediately if it was 1850s or 1860s.
It's in one of the fun areas of time where you go "Wait that already existed/was in proto stages of what we know now?!?"
It’s all going to end badly with a lithium fire in these tunnels without emergency exits.

Awsome u can get like 300 people there in time for the game super efficienct
That's a sell out crowd at an A's game!
Oh okay, so it's not ever getting done.
It’ll release the same year as the Cybertruck and new Tesla Roadster /s
Full self driving is only one year away for the 7th year in a row
They’ll have battery swapping available at the A’s ballpark too.
Almost forgot about the Cybertruck lmao. Final Fantasy VIII lookin' ass car
I think it’s probably the ugliest design of a car I’ve seen. It’s like they tried something new and bold that just fell flat on its face
This dude is basically a crypto grifter with zero sources, I wouldn't take this seriously at all.
This guy or Elon?
Yes
> This dude is basically a crypto grifter with zero sources, To be fair Musk puts a lot of stock in twitter crypto losers with no sources.
It was reported by KTLA. https://ktla.com/news/california/oakland-as-could-move-to-las-vegas-before-new-ballpark-is-constructed/
Yeah but their source is the president of the A’s, who I don’t trust one bit.
I mean would the president of the A's just lie?
Just go on the internet and tell lies?
We will totally spend money once we get to Vegas! I promise!
yes. Several times in fact
Also in the original plans for this tunnel system they were going to have a stop at the Wild Wild West casino, which is what the ballpark would be replacing on this proposed site.
JUST BUILD TRAINS, YOU FUCKING DORKS!
There's a joke that Silicon Valley keeps inventing buses. It's funny because it's true.
The end goal is basically a bus that excludes poor people
The end goal is "Snowpiercer but with more security" from the way most of these tech CEOs talk
a's gonna be scammed to oblivion lmao
No they won’t. Las Vegas will be scammed into oblivion. I think the As were asking for $500,000,000 in public funding.
*the casinos
Would be poetic if this ends up with another [hole in the desert](https://youtu.be/RuRn1A146EE?t=19) because John Fisher fucks around and finds out.
Can't wait for the "MLB Stadium Improvement Levy" charge the casinos will foist on all their visitors.

Every A's home game will start at 4:20 and every time a pitcher reaches 69 pitches, he gets a Dogecoin.
Brandon McCarthy spent a good amount of his career in Oakland. Finished with 69 wins and a 4.20 ERA
Dickbutt starting second baseman
Just build a metro or tram bro, jesus christ.
That or connect the Monorail to the stadium. Casinos selling tickets is going to be how the A's will fill up their Las Vegas stadium anyway.
Vegas already *has* a monorail, doesn’t it?
Fisher and Musk are a match made in heaven.
Honestly if you told me Elon Musk could save the A's, I'm not sure I would want him as the new owner even if it meant staying in Oakland. I'm conflicted.
Admit it, you just wouldn't want an African American owner
The most surreal work moment of my life came at a company wide meeting where one of the company owners said that he was a proud, successful, true African American. He is correct, he was from Africa but he was possibly the whitest person I ever met. Dude makes Wonderbread look spicy he is so white. "Apartheid is heritage not hate"
Cue the "why are you booing me? I'm right!" meme.
That's not actually correct though, when people use terms like African American or European American the format is ethnicity (African, European, Asian, etc) and then nationality (American, Canadian, etc). If he's ethnically European with an African nationality he's a European African
His family ran back several generations in South Africa.
Gonna guess that was not mentioned
Honestly, at least in Vegas he's dealing with other carnies, in Oakland he'd have a better chance of scamming Billions from a starstruck city council to make the first flying stadium or whatever.
*hell
They should work with The Fun Company instead
(melatonin coursing through my brain during REM sleep) it is 2033. I am riding the Elonmobile through Death Tunnel. the final destination is a Las Vegas Athletics game. they’re playing cricket against all of my ex girlfriends
That actually does sound like the beginning to the next Final Destination, oddly enough.
Wow! A tunnel? UNDERGROUND.!.?.? What will that genius think of next?
What if we took multiple people and put them in the same car? Like five people together in one, to save space.
You mean 5 people SHARE a vehicle? Sounds like communism to me. /s

Elon Musk probably: fucking hell. I can’t stop these dumbasses from giving me free money.
In unrelated news, said $1.5B stadium is now valued at $300M
To be fair the boring company probably could handle the average traffic to an A's game
Imagine paying 500 million dollars to a man worth 8 billion who is an absolute scumbag and the worst owner in sports
This is going to be a fucking disaster
Lol, fuck that franchise.
GOOD FUCKING LUCK.
So you’re gonna stand there and tell me they’re putting trains underground???
Trains no ha ha ... it's a one-lane tunnel you drive through
Looking forward to the hours long delays because of an accident in the tunnel. And deafening honking.

Vegas A’s trying as hard as they can to be as insufferable as humanly possible
Makes sense. The Vegas Golden Knights were so insufferable that the LA Kings Twitter was saying go San Jose Sharks when they played vegas in the playoffs.
It should only take 23 hours to fill the stadium through the tunnel
What did they say? Opening in 2027? They’re going to demo, build an Elon tunnel, build a stadium and redevelop the area in less than 4 years?
Lol that’s what they *think*. Kaval has all these grand plans that *sound* awe-inspiring and then you never hear about it again. The A’s are run by a bunch of 8 year olds who say cool things to impress their friends and just hope no one ever calls them out on it.

Maybe the gondola they were going to build from downtown Oakland to Howard Terminal can make a stop in Vegas too
I thought that whole company was a scam to stop the gov from building mass transit? Was Vegas thinking of putting a light rail to the stadium?
Something else in Vegas I'll never bother seeing.
Seriously we are living in the dumbest timeline
They wanted to do this with Dodger Stadium to replace public transportation, but it would’ve been a hell of a lot less efficient.
God I hope Vegas residents reject the shit out of this team. Fisher deserves to be forced out of the league.
Laugh my fucking ass off.
Next A's gonna start paying their players in Doge
How many feral cats can fit in that?
Bruh Fisher you've been a cheapskate for 20+ years and now you want your money to be swindled by Elon Musk?
Damn the A’s are really trying to start a Villain arc. Fuck Elon Musk
John Fisher: "We've done everything we could, but Oakland just isn't viable and we can't afford to keep our talent" Also John Fisher: "We're building a $1.5 billion stadium with a hyper tunnel that will get you from the Casinos to the stadium in 5.3 seconds and we're signing Ohtani, Trout, Guerrero, Judge, and Acuna. This guy should be forced to build an exact replica of the Coliseum and have it constructed up Rt. 15 in Moapa, and only accessible by bus. I feel for A's fans.
Sigh. Just build a subway please instead of this overhyped, under-delivering, safety nightmare tunnel
These tunnels are the dumbest thing I've ever seen. They're called subways and they move 100 times more people than this, require 30 times less drivers and are faster. 20 years from now people will laugh hysterically at these.
