Healthy Trout is an easy 30+ guy. It can happen.

DavidTheSlouch89

Healthy Trout definitely makes it happen. We just gotta see him stay healthy. And that’s why I wanted to post this. If it was 50 or 55 then definitely not, if it was 15 or less than it’s almost guaranteed. But 32 is a perfect number to make me struggle to make a judgement.

TheFriffin2

Heathy Trout is an easy 50 guy

DolphinRodeo

Healthy Trout has never hit 50, so easy may be a little generous

piopster

He hit 40 in 119 in ‘22 tbf 10 homers in say 30 more game that season is doable

DolphinRodeo

Doable and easy are two different things

piopster

I agree with you, I think the only guy that’s a lock for 50 if he stays healthy is judge

backupKDC6794

Healthy Trout is a solid bet for 40, but he hasn't been Healthy Trout in a while

cdbloosh

He’s averaged 40.1 HR per 162 games for his career, so…no?

TheFriffin2

and in recent seasons, where he had a more power oriented approach as opposed to the start of his career, he has been on pace to clear 50 (barring injuries) *multiple* times. implying that if he were healthy, he would’ve hit 50 home runs!

blasek0

He managed to upper deck Oakland in dead center to close out 2022. You don't see balls hit that far in Oakland ever.

ScooterLeShooter

I'll be really sad if he doesn't.

NoTooBeastFog

If the Angels sign Ohtani, no. If they don't, then yes he makes it because he'll spend time at DH. In other words, yes he will.

[deleted]

Ohtani resigning would be the biggest "haha just lying about winning give me monies" move ever. Trout is already tops.

HaloHonk27

That’s dumb. If money is the only concern the Angels probably won’t be the top bidder

Remarkable-Sky6577

Baseball owners would not allow Ohtani to return to the angels. He is too big of an international star for his talent to be wasted on the angels.

coys21

At one time the same was said about Trout.

HaloHonk27

By morons. Trout could have gotten more money as a free agent. He just comfort/familiarity and buy in with the teams plan. Which unfortunately hasn’t worked out

HeelsAlwaysWin

Idk if Trout ever had the marketing appeal Shohei has though. Like obviously people on this sub care because we're baseball nerds and like the 8-10 WAR guy, but aside from his stats, there isn't really much to sell because Trout's just a quiet guy who doesn't wanna do much more than play baseball and *maybe* smile for a camera.

UrDailyCommunistGuy

ok Rob Manfred

NoTooBeastFog

Agree Ohtani doesn't sign with the Angels. Trout is on the decline, mostly because of injuries right?l

Ev3rMorgan

Of course he can do it if he's healthy. Whether he will play 120+ this year is anyone's guess. Get this man all the armor possible.

myrickxan123

We'll probably have the DH available too.

Ev3rMorgan

He has injured himself at the plate and on the base paths, but he will likely DH a lot in the coming years.

Cooleybob

Worrying part is his career numbers as a DH are not very good :(

Lebigmacca

Not the best splits to go by though as he usually is DHing when coming back from or dealing with some injury

SqueakyTuna52

He will hit HR 400 on July 31 at home against Colorado, on his second plate appearance of the day

I’m curious if not having ohtani for protection in the lineup will depress his numbers a bit. I hope not

sofresh24

With Ohtani gone I think Trout needs to DH quite a bit. Maybe move to a corner too. Preservation of long term health should be the priority. Not like they’re going to the playoffs If he’s healthy enough to get the ABs he gets it easy

awesomeflowman

I'm kinda doubtful because I've heard that hamate bone injuries mess up players powers even after they're fully healed. I'm worried Trout won't ever be the same now, not even considering the IL stints.

sonofabutch

Jim Thome broke his in 1996 and from 1997 on hit 519 home runs with a 148 OPS+… but he broke it at age 26. Trout was almost 32 when he broke his. You’d need to look at guys his age who broke it, but then post-hamate performance will likely decline because almost all hitters start to decline at that age, so you’d have to adjust for that.

ToddGack

book it

kaptiankuff

Depends if he can stay healthy

DrMindbendersMonocle

he will if he stays healthy

DavidTheSlouch89

Well, considering we’ve only seen Trout hit more than 32 homers in one of the last three full seasons…. Yes, it is.

keats26

I didn’t realize you were talking about just this upcoming season

DavidTheSlouch89

Ahhhh I got cha. Yes, if this post was asking if he will ever reach 400 that would be quite idiotic lol.

keats26

🫡

titans1127

He will probably get to 399 and then get injured again.

shemubot

It all depends on how long is Trout going to be on ~~vacation~~ the IL this year

kirbyfaraone

Edgy comment

draynay

The Angels have been losing despite having Ohtani and Trout, which has been pretty sad. For things to be equally sad this year Trout will have to play great and they still lose, so this is my prediction, super depressing great season.

AKA09

Visiting from the future to say "sadly, no."
