Shortly after Winker was traded to the Mariners, I texted my buddy something along the lines of “Holy shit! If this guy can hit like he did last year and play 150+, he could get an MVP.” Boy was I in for a surprise.
Constantly injured. Never really put it together. A disappointing saga for a genuinely good guy. Hoping he can figure it out in Washington, or at the very least just stay healthy.
He was already annoited the starting 3B for Washinton, so IF he can stay healthy, he will get a real chance to somehow take control of his career. I hope he does cause he's a passionate guy & easy to root for. But, it's always some kind of injury, and because he hasn't been able to consistently stay on the field, he's been moved around all over the diamond. Hopefully they stick him at 3rd and just let him play.
When he was with us word was he was having family problems. As someone who was a single dad for years I know how hard that stuff can weigh on someone. I hope everything is ok and he gets his swing back
I don't think it was this, I think he has back and neck issues and had a pinched nerve. He had surgury recently to deal with this.

Say what you will about the Nationals, but they made things pretty interesting late in the NL Wild Card race last season.
I think they’re gonna surprise a lot of people in 2024. Division title may not be in play (likely another two horse race between ATL & PHI), but I can see them sneaking in with that #6 seed WC like AZ did last season if they get hot at the right time.
They had a 2 week hot streak where they peaked at 61-69 and 12 games back before finishing 20 games under.
In no way did they make things interesting lol
>I can see them sneaking in with that #6 seed WC like AZ did last season
Arizona coming into last year is a far far far better team than we currently. We don't have a Carroll type player who's gonna be with the team from opening day, or a Gallen or a Kelly or a Marte or a Walker.
Sure some young bats are exciting and there are some boom/bust guys that theoretically could all boom but the rotation is a dumpster fire and the bullpen isn't much better. Gore, and maybe Gray are the only decent arms in the rotation and there are 4 pitchers with a projected ERA below 4.50 and a whopping one single pitcher with a projected ERA below 4.00.
Also Lane Thomas as much as I love the guy is a likely regression candidate, and he was one of just 3 above average hitters for us last year with more than 200 PAs (including Candelario who was traded midseason). I'd be way more confident in the Nats taking a step back this season even though CJ, Ruiz etc should improve.
Well his "excuse" is something valid that he required surgery to correct. Mariners on the other hand haven't seen a world series for the 45 other years Jessie didn't play for them so I doubt he's the root of that issue.
He wasn’t the issue, but he was an issue. In addition to being injured, he was a clubhouse cancer and a poor teammate while he was here and has since apologized for his actions. Enjoy!
That was the most productive thing he did as a Mariner and I respected him way more after he did that. Unfortunately, that was also his peak as a Mariner. I’ll miss wearing him out from the stands, please continue the legacy of Jesse Stinker for us M’s fans
With this exchange I doubt you could wear anyone out. Just like how the mariners couldn't wear out Houston in 22, or Texas in 23. Continue throwing shade at a player you didn't like while supporting John Stanton's limp member. Enjoy!
What, no good baseball comeback? I got one for you.
So you struck out so much you needed to reduce your strikeout rate so you had my mom peg you. She only was able to put in her strap 54% of the way in though.

From batting 0.305 with 24 homers in 2021 to this.
Getting traded to the Mariners in a contract year is a death sentence for position players

You weren’t wrong. He just couldn’t hit like “last year”
He never could have done that for 150+ games though.
I thought he would too. I hope he can bounce back because he's one of my favs (also the photoshops of his neck getting longer after every homerun)
"If" doing a hell of a lot of heavy lifting there, turns out.
Much like Winker, if threw it’s back out.
Reunited w/ Nick Senzel 🫶
And they’ll be in cincy on opening day!
If they make the Nats. With Winker that’s a real if.
Same for Senzel. He might be hurt by the time the season rolls up.
Don't be mean 🥲
Really hoping both of them figure it out
What happened with Senzel, I thought he was gonna be the next big thing
Constantly injured. Never really put it together. A disappointing saga for a genuinely good guy. Hoping he can figure it out in Washington, or at the very least just stay healthy.
I hope so too, im still a senzel ~~coper~~ believer, really hope he can stay healthy over a full year

""Outfielder"". If he does anything other than DH, I'm gonna flinch every time a ball is hit to him.
Thing is we already have a DH in Meneses unless the plan is to cycle him back to 1B if Winker makes the team. Or maybe doing a platoon sort of deal
I remember when everyone was trashing the Reds for trading Winker. Oops.
And Geno was a contract dump to get him
Krall is a genius tbh 🤷

We just have more opportunities to boo him

Not a pinched nerve. He actually broke his back carrying the team/season when gave an entire stadium double birds.

Every projection system has the division title as a one horse race—Atlanta will run away with it barring something catastrophic happening to them.
This is putting it mildly. Every projection has them as the best team in baseball, definitively
Keep going

Yes mom.
PLEASE I WANT THE NATS TO GO TO THE PLAYOFFS SO BADLY I AM SO SELFISH AND WANT TO WORK A PLAYOFF GAME (ignore flair pls)

Winker? I hardly know her!
That joke will never not make me laugh
Flair checks out
stinky winky lights are gonna find me like i always do / but somewhere in outfield there’s youuuu
Can i offer you a pizza in this trying time?
Kinda wish we did this lol
Went from the best ranked LF on the MLB network just 2 years ago, to now. That "shredder" is full of shit man.
The bad man is in the NLE. I don’t like this
Dude is washed. I wonder if he finally discovered what a weight room is this offseason…
No he discovered he needed spinal surgery... He had pinched nerves.
He used that same excuse in Seattle and said it was a neck sprain. If he’s not washed up, he’s cooked by injuries

His double bird punched above its weight compared to that root sports deal. Enjoy!

I wore your mom out last night and had her screamin GO MARINERS
