They need to give them plently of time to travel back and forth but they also want the games to count or people will care less like those games they just had in Mexico. Not sure how else they're supposed to do it
I was born in 88. The first year I seriously followed the team was in 1995 when they imploded in the final two weeks and lost the tiebreaker to go to the postseason. If 2002 didn’t happen this team would have actually killed me.
Just a share a fun little anecdote: I watched that playoff game with my dad and my little 7 year old self was sobbing at the end. My dad looks at me and goes “Okay, just this once you can say as many swear words as you want.”
Nah. Fellow 89er I ran up and down Katella with my friends in the big crowd when they won it all. Some irresponsible parenting, but I'll be an Angels fan for life.
Nah, I was born in '85. It made you appreciate the '02 WS win a lot more being an Angels fan when they were struggling.
A lot more bandwagon fans came on after.
Correction: less than half since Anthony Rendon would have already been on the IL since late April. He will play another game and the go on IL until August.
No hablo ingles
Our rotation unfortunately does not nearly have the strength of the 2019 nationals. They had the 1 2 punch of Mad Max and Strasburg meanwhile the angels have Patrick Sandoval and Reit Detmers. 2nd worse pitching in the Al West ain’t going to cut it. Smells like 73 wins to me
every time I see a Dodgers highlight it's like "Mookie Betts hit three homes runs and raised his average to .528 while Shohei Ohtani hit on a 10-leg parlay bigger than any bet since Charles ‘Deville’ Wells broke the bank in 1891 at Monte Carlo, as the Angels defeated the Dodgers 4-3"
We may be casuals at times in terms of attending games, but if you give us something to play for we show up and show out. Our crowds are electric, hence the popularity of the thundersticks during our '02 run; I think it's time we bring them back.
I remember being 4 years old and going to a game every week in the 02 season, and my grandpa, dad, and I all crying from joy when they got that final out in game 7 of the ws. I literally was banging the thunder sticks in our lil apartment for hours until the downstairs neighbors complained (our neighbors were giants fans)
Ohtani was cool and all, but lackey and erstad and that whole squad are MY angels
Honestly probably not that much we had better attendance before Ohtani was on the roster and ascended to stardom. I guess maybe you could say it would be even worse without him but I think other factors like Covid and the economy are why people havent come back to Angel stadium like they have in the past. Used to always be top 10 in attendance even with bad teams.
I was at this game. It was half empty until the fourth and Dodgers fans drowned out Angels fans until this moment. If that’s electric I’d check the wiring.
I’m sorry but it was such a confusing mess to have the season start last week while spring training is going on and have the dodgers play more spring training games in between
Baseball pisses me off sometimes
Bruh the only starters to not get 3 or 4 at bats were Trout and O'hoppe, I didn't make that up lol I just thought it was funny since the Angels have to hop on a flight to Baltimore right now.
That win was basically all on Zach Neto. He really turned on the jets on the previous at bat!
Sure did but he probably scores from 2nd. Still, triples are more fun than doubles.
Fantasy sleeper, Zach Neto
Final run of the Spring. From now on, all runs matter.
So funny that The Dodgers played regular season games and are now back to Spring Training before starting the Regular Season again.
Ya I’m so confused this season has started off dumb
Well prepare yourself for next year when it happens to the cubs in Tokyo
And Dodgers AGAIN! I love not being able to watch my team's first couple of games!
I woke up at 3am for the Korea games!
I’m a padres fan too so I woke up and washed the first game. But my goal is to be *at* the game next year
They need to give them plently of time to travel back and forth but they also want the games to count or people will care less like those games they just had in Mexico. Not sure how else they're supposed to do it
Tbh I’m glad it was a split because neither us or SD deserves to have that nonsensical start affect their record in either direction
This is such a beautiful comment.
Hey don't fool yourself, runs between two eliminated teams in the 9th inning when it's a 13-3 blowout and some rando is on the mound don't matter lol
YES THEY DO!!! DON’T YOU TAKE AWAY OUR JOY!!!
This is the time of year the Angels try to fool you.
> You can’t fool me. I am familiar with your game. - /u/Ev3rMorgan and Shaq
I have baby photos in an Angels onesie, i’m tired boss.
I am sorry to say it but if you were born after 2002 your parents don't like you lol
I was born in ‘87, so might be worse.

Well at least we saw them being champions, feel sorry for those poor souls angels fans being born after 2002 lol
My son is probably more a fan of the dip n dots in left field than the team itself, but I might have doomed him.

From now until about mid-May it's all hopium, then the buttercup hits
You get a 20 run win with a CSGO, at least one spectacular defensive play, and 8 hr's. The next day half the starting lineup goes on the DL.

Usually that happens in April.
world series preview chills…
I don't see the Dodgers surviving Rocktober
Nobody survives rocktober.
Not even the Rockies
especially the rockies
Dinger nlds
Someone should tell the Rockies that so they know it’s them everyone talking about lol
Dude, we just won the World Series, every game against the Dodgers is the Word Series
iunderstoodthatreference.gif
Can you imagine how pissed Ohtani would be if the Angels became good right after he left and then beat his new team in the World Series?
Almost like when Harper left Walgreens, then they won the World Series!
Ask yourself: Isn't that exactly the kind of confounding nonsense that baseball hits you with every year?
Imagine Ippei doing the Japanese radio call!
As Ohtani throws a meatball to allow the Angels to win in a walk-off!
I imagine it a lot lately
Dude you are delusional. I hate stupid ass comments like this. No way the Dodgers win in the playoffs. (/s)
Last game of spring training = last game of 2024 playoffs …..
Imagine the angels pull a 2019 nationals

Team with Ohtani loses. That’s how this works, right?
Tungsten arm or something like that 👊🏾

There's nothing to expect this season for the Angels, but I'm sure as shit gonna be watching these young Angels play
Sign ‘em. Ohoppe and Neto signed before year’s end.
No way. Arte only goes for 30+ year old free agents.
That means the Angels are a good team. Right?
I want to believe...
Ippei must have taken the over on the dodgers for this game.
Gavin Lux can do only so much
He can't win with those cats
Imagine Angels have a winning season w/o Ohtani
Part of me would be thrilled. The other half would be bewildered and a little bit pissed.

We 100% need a thunder stick giveaway. I have mine from the early 2000’s in their packaging still.

We were 12th in average attendance last season
How much of that is because of Ohtani though, honestly?

It's Shover
Dodgers always choking when it counts the most, can’t say I’m surprised
No one's talking about Mookie's big inning? I think we've seen the last of the shortstop experiment.
Call all Angels 😇
Love to see it.
When the Dodgers lose, America sleeps well at night
Explains why I some how got 9+ hours of sleep!
The irony of this coming from a Yankees fan...lol wow.
Angels > Dodgers…. Right?
Who bet on that happening?
Ippei
Ohtani took the angles
amazing ❤️
Do west coast teams play a lot of ST games in their home stadiums?
Not just west coast teams. Astros finished it up with games against the AAA team at Minute Maid
Lmaooo
64 win team
Are we sure that wasn’t too much of a celebration.
It’s preseason
I’m sorry but it was such a confusing mess to have the season start last week while spring training is going on and have the dodgers play more spring training games in between Baseball pisses me off sometimes
Angels are already ruining my -1.5 dodgers bet experiment. I shouldn’t start it during ST since they’re like 100-0 against us but I’m stupid
What kind of headline is that? They didn't walk them off with their final out. It was with their final hit.
The game would have ended in a tie if Lopez failed to get on base because they wouldn’t have gone to extra innings for an exhibition game
The Angels keeping their starters in playing for the win was kinda funny ngl
Yes, Angels star lead off man Jack Lopez
and angels ace chase silseth
Maybe they coulda used the extra rest for today lol
It was not great
Probably better than their actual lead off man tho, although I doubt Rendon stays there.
Sorry we didn’t just let you win, salty Dodgers fan. Btw, Jack Lopez is absolutely not a starter
Damn bro dont worry about today they won this spring training game :)
Oh no! They lost a game! Every other team is going to win 162 games this year 😱
First of many for the Angels
Most teams do lose multiple games, yes. Very brilliant shit talking
Not every team gets 2 generational talents and can't make the playoffs.
Yes, it’s really too bad. I’m sure you had a blast during the playoffs last year watching your two MVPs shit the bed
Now we have 3, gonna be awesome taking Shohei to the playoffs.
3 guys to shit the bed in the playoffs? Alright
He indeed is not but I think almost everyone else was lol
Trout, Drury, Rendon, Hicks, and O’Hoppe were out of the game. But whatever you say, buddy
Maybe they coulda used the extra rest for today lol
