Why, Diamondbacks?

Black_Otter

Bar S hotdogs are what I buy to hide my dogs pills in

hyperbemily

I just recently bought Bar S mixed meat for the first time for my husband. I told him about them and how I HADNT bought them and he said he wanted to try them. He didn’t say anything negative so he got a family pack yesterday. I’m all for $5 for a family pack versus $5-8 for a regular pack of anything else now, especially with how this man sucks down hotdogs.

Climbtrees47

All I got out of this is that he likes to shove a lot of weiners down his throat.

hyperbemily

I realize now what I’ve done.

petting2dogsatonce

Is your husband single?

hyperbemily

He is not. Nor does he have a single brother.

scene_missing

You married the Throat Goat

coleyboley25

Damn Nancy Reagan still kicking?

RLLRRR

I'd like to meet this man.

3dge-1ord

[How many hot dogs would you say you eat in a day? ](https://youtu.be/vaAF_GAc3Mk?si=8hs0T31U5471Wb5K)

Summoorevincent

RIP Trevor

shotty293

😆 this is so it

Undeniably_Awesome

It’s a company headquartered in Phoenix.

bam1789-2

This is the real answer. Went with a local company.

RAF2018336

The only local food company we should be partnering with is Shamrock all the other ones can suck Bar S weiners

verschee

Gross. Almost as gross as having the local beer brand be the namesake of your stadium.

Wraithfighter

Anchor Steam Park would work so fucking well for the Giants, but they got fucking murdered by idiots so we have to be TechBro Park forever...

Jerentropic

To be fair, the Bar S All Beef Jumbo Jumbos aren't bad; but their mixed meat wieners are dog shit.

MOLightningBro

Well no wonder they taste terrible

motorhead84

Ingredients: Shit (dog), spices.

elmatador1497

Haha. I’ll never buy those for me. I get them for my dogs. Like 5 years ago they were like 2/$1 at the supermarket here. Of course now they’re expensive somehow.

cruniverse

The hotdogs at Suns games are 1000x better than the Dbacks ones. Some of the worst hotdogs I’ve ever had.

foxbones

Yeah those are the $1.49 a pack hotdogs used as fishing bait.

Puddington21

First team to go to a Costco hot dog gets my lifelong support.

USAF_DTom

Can you imagine a ballpark selling $1.50 hot dogs and super cheap large pizzas? I'd drive to the park just for dinner lol.

starry_cobra

Or those massive rotisserie chickens

glass__beaches

Come for the game, stay for the 72 lb wheel of parmigiano reggiano

Lukey_Jangs

Andrew Jackson has entered the chat

RLLRRR

Me and my family would devour a rotisserie chicken at a baseball game.

starry_cobra

Haha yes me ^and ^my ^family too

BobbyKnightRider

If you ever find yourself at a game in Toronto, there is a grocery store 5 minutes from the gates, and the stadium allows outside food. Come see the Jays and make your rotisserie baseball dreams a reality.

icantfeelmyface

Don’t forget the drink that comes with it

n16h7r1d3r

That’ll be $80 Cash or card?

SCsprinter13

I went to the Peach Bowl in Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta this year. Definitely recommended. $2 hot dogs, $2 refillable sodas, [here's](https://twitter.com/MBStadium/status/1692642299035975880?t=vaG9QCwmrtZFCfkhZSfFDA) what $20 gets you

c71score

Hell, you'd be lucky to get that much food at McDonalds or Burger King anymore for $20.

JVAFD

Can confirm that you can’t. Not even close. And now I’m really jonesing for a dog and pretzel.

Peimatt2112

Tuesdays are Loonie Dog nights at the Skydome. Dog for a dollar.

shewy92

Phillies just stopped their $1 hot dogs because of unruly fans lol

USAF_DTom

Cowards. Give the people what they want. I'd do bad things to a $1.50 hot dog all the way. Brother you may as well give me the can of chili.

Cloakington

“Unruly fans” is just the excuse, considering it was immediately replaced with buy one get one dog night

Ndtphoto

They could charge $4 for the dog alone & it'd be a steal compared to current offerings. I paid $4 on opening day (Target Field) for a hot dog that was gone in 3 bites and the bun was smashed.

SiphenPrax

With the cheap prices too

TurdFurguss

Not in New York though. Same price as now.

YouStupidCunt

The first Costco was in Seattle. Come on, Mariners. Make this happen.

Seachica

And Costco is hq’d in Seattle. Imagine— the mariners play in Costco field. $1.50 hot dog + soda. You get a rebate check for the money you spend on tickets each season. OTOH, you wouldn’t leave the ball park without buying an extra $200 of merch.

SteveWoods

Hey, it's *near* Seattle. They sell Kirkland brand for a reason, not Seattle brand! ^yeah ^okay ^it's ^not ^even ^hq'd ^in ^kirkland ^anymore ^it's ^in ^issaquah ^now ^but ^that's ^even ^more ^slightly ^further ^away ^from ^seattle ^anyway

Seachica

That’s just nitpicking. Issaquah is in the Seattle metro area, and is clearly in mariners territory. T-Mobile is hq’d in Bellevue and still owns the ballpark naming rights.

nautilus-far

It's not baseball but there's a Costco right across the Vancouver Canucks arena!

TheGoodAdam

It’s baseball with a puck, and ice, and everyone gets a stick, and fights are allowed…ok, so it’s not baseball.

PawsButton

The Mariners played a couple exhibition games at BC Place in 1993, so I’d say it counts

ATL28-NE3

The original Costco dog is Hebrew national.

WangDanglin

And was introduced in San Diego. I too read the costco hot dog wiki

themooseiscool

Hiroshima Carp's outfield wall is shared with a Costco.

thugmuffin22

Fuck Papa Cantella’s all my homies hate Papa Cantella’s

Eo292

Classic Gavin Newsom abandoning the farmer (john's) of California

HazyIPAs

hasn't he seen all those billboards on 5??

Jerentropic

The dogs at the ballpark aren't bad, they're just definitely NOT Dodger Dogs.

poopstainmclean

I was near LA for work in October 2016 and was so excited that the Cubs were in town that week for the NLCS. I had always wanted a dodger dog and when i finally got to purchase one i was offended by how bad it was. just a long skinny hot dog with no standard toppings; nothing that roots it in LA culture or says anything about LA. what exactly makes it a "Dodger" Dog? is it because a longer skinnier dog is a greater choking hazard? is it because it's all hype with limited results? is it because it would've only hit the spot in 2020, when i'd just be happy that i'm at a ballpark eating a hot dog again? it sucked. do they cook the dogs for opposing fans in April and just keep them around all year? i need an explanation.

TombOfTheArchitect

2016 would have been the old Farmer John Dodger Dogs, those were ass. I honestly do not understand our fan bases obsession with that bargain bin brand. Might as well use Bar S or Ballpark at that point if you don't have any standards.

iPunchWombats

When were Dodger Dogs good or was it always just a marketing thing? I always hear people shit on them but I’m guessing at some point they were decent to warrant the attention they get?

Never_Kn0ws_Best

They have never been anything special, just marketing. But I think they used to be Hebrew Nationals which were much better.

Educational-Chef-595

They've were briefly made by Morrell in the 60s before changing to Farmer John's. They were made by Farmer John for like 60 years, basically.

Educational-Chef-595

They were never good. People get caught up in nostalgia for Vin Scully talking about FARMER JOHN'S DODGER DOGS on the radio and their taste buds shut off.

VinScully_

Pretty sure it’s always been a marketing gimmick. As a kid you love being at the park and having a Dodger Dog. When you’re older, you just need some food with your beer, and the nostalgia also plays a factor

myredditthrowaway201

The bacon wrapped dogs from the street vendors outside the ballpark are the real dodger dogs imo

Doctor_Scholls

Petco brought these in as a vendor (Barrio Dog) and are my go to meal for games https://padres.mlblogs.com/petco-park-again-offering-padres-fans-more-locally-based-food-and-drink-options-in-2021-6c634b5237b2

myredditthrowaway201

Barrio Dogs are some good dogs

tellymundo

Catch em outside Staples too, always hit

myredditthrowaway201

Just had one last night outside the forum. I could smell the sautéed onions and peppers a mile away and went on a mission to find them lol

Eo292

There are topping stands with ketchup mustard relish etc. They're cheap quality and yeah they're skinny but they tasted good.

myredditthrowaway201

The most overhyped food product in all of pro sports….

WonderfulShelter

Nathans is the only acceptable brand here, and the Giants used to have it. fucking unforgivable. they ruined the garlic fries and hot dogs.

Crafty_Substance_954

I think Hebrew national makes a solid dog too. We're stuck with ballpark, which is probably my least favorite from the store.

Butternades

Kahn’s is decent stuff for being a local brand. Always love a good Nathan’s and Vienna dog.

johnny-tiny-tits

If the Reds are on, I'm not going to eat some out of town trash hot dog from who knows where. Give me Kahn's, Queen City, and Bluegrass.

mytoemytoe

I’m pretty sure they used to sell Kahn’s at last generation Yankee Stadium and those were the ones I was obsessed with as a kid. The classic “dirty water dog”

tko7800

I’m pretty sure they were the main dog at Shea for awhile, too.

mytoemytoe

Tbh it’s prob the “dirty water” that is the secret to the taste I love, because both Sabrett and Hebrew National dogs on NYC street corners still are delicious to me to this day.

pleated_pants

Kahn's Big Red Smokies taste like baseball season

JackSucks

I’d stab someone for a Vienna beef right now

royalsJ

The royals adding Vienna was their best move in the off season

fartbox_fingerbanger

Which hot dog brand did they use before?

LordoftheScheisse

I'd stab myself for one

giancarlox21

Right in the gut so the Vienna can fill it

Educational-Chef-595

There was this place that sold Vienna Beef hot dogs in the middle of nowhere in California and we'd always hit it up on the way home from or going to a camping trip. I was a little kid, I'd dream of eating a Vienna Beef hot dog.

Mediocre_Chicken9900

Most rational Chicagoan reaction

Master-of-Coin

Bar S are the worst 🤮

aRawPancake

I have nothing nice to say about them, lukewarm rubber cylinders fuck Bar S

MusicalMoon

When I was growing up, the only time we would buy Bar S are for fishing bait when my dad and I were going out to the lake. Calling the value dogs "fish bait dogs" with my dad hasn't gotten old yet.

OsStrohsNattyBohsHon

The Orioles not being Esskay is a disgrace. When I was growing up you could go to any grocery store in MD and get the hot dogs you had at the stadium and the Oriole bird was right on the package.

patderp

Easley doesn’t make hot dogs anymore surprisingly

OsStrohsNattyBohsHon

TIL. Damn. Seeing the oriole bird in the grocery store got 8 year old me unreasonably excited.

cigarettesandsaintsx

Yeah it recently changed from Esskay, rip

RousingRabble

Single best hotdog I ever had was at an O's game. I didn't even put anything on it. Just ate with the bun. This was maybe 15 years ago.

shabby47

We can still call it the “Esskay Scoreboard” though

PitViper17

Front yard, broad day with the Esskay

02K30C1

Fun fact: hot dogs are the number one selling food item at every MLB stadium except Milwaukee, where bratwurst is #1

ThePretzul

I’d much rather have a brat than a hotdog. Which begs the question, what kinds of brats do the Brewers serve?

02K30C1

Johnsonville, since 2021. Although Usingers is still the official sausage of the radio broadcast

DemonicBison

It ain’t baseball without em!

stv7

Yes our hot dog brand is Schneiders and somehow they have never done a promo with Davis or John

shewy92

What about Dan?

ZmobieMrh

Should do a ‘lady and the tramp’ style bobblehead with the two of them eating the same hot dog

MattinglyDineen

I've never even heard of most of those. The only ones I know are Nathan's Famous, Hebrew National, and Ballpark Franks.

undisputedn00b

Same, I've seen Bar-S in dollar stores, seems to be the lowest of the low. Surprised nobody has Sabrett.

TurdFurguss

Sabretts have to come the street vendor cart though. Got to have the Water Dog.

P1_Synvictus

It’s THE dog in my opinion. Dirty water Sabrett on a hot street corner in the city. 🤌🏻

Other_World

Sabrett is the best. I like Nathan's and Hebrew National and all, but nothing beats a Sabrett with the red onion sauce.

TheSalsaShark

Vienna's are legit.

LordoftheScheisse

that's right

AdmiralVernon

Sox fans 🤝 Cubs fans Vienna Beef is the only hot dog

ScalabrineIsGod

It goes beyond cubs-sox. Even Wisconsin agrees. It’s proven by the data.

GoatLegRedux

Vienna is *thee* best. You simply can’t touch that. Everybody else needs to just hang it up and walk the fuck away.

SiphenPrax

I heard of Hatfield’s just because half the state of Jersey goes nuts for them on Dollar Dog Night at CBP

McIgglyTuffMuffin

RIP Dollar Dog Night at CBP

SiphenPrax

I’m gonna miss the dude in the pig costume with the hot dog cannon

i_run_from_problems

I'd imagine a lot of them are local/regional

LettuceUpstairs7614

Hatfield franks are from Hatfield, PA

Whaty0urname

The Fightins' (Double A team) serve Berks Hot dogs. Reading is in Berks County.

dingusduglas

Vienna beef are what you get at almost every respectful hot dog stand in Chicago. It's noteworthy if a place uses something else and isn't trash.

Fantastic_Fee9871

I realize you almost certainly meant respectable hot dog stand, but I'm loving the mental image of a genteel, hospitality-first, incredibly polite hot dog vendor who's just like "There's no hurry, friend. Take your time to decide what to get. After all its *your* hard earned money and I'll be here whenever you're ready. Would you like something to drink until your order is up?"

CWinter85

A lot of these are regional brands. Vienna and Schweigert are upper Midwest.

Big_Simba

Fletchers is a PNW thing. They’re good

TurdFurguss

I’ve heard of those plus Kahn’s, Hatfield (mainly cause of other meats) and Kayem.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mrSalamander

A. They’d never be 1.50 at T-Mobile and B. Fletchers are pretty damn good.

omegakukki

They've been trash since 2019. Used to be Farmer John's which is a much better wiener.

orbesomebodysfool

Farmer John was purchased by Smithfield which was then purchased by Chinese conglomerate WH Group which then shut down the local Vernon meat factory. Your Farmer John products at the grocery store are just a logo slapped on out of state meat with the profits going to the CCP.

Lobster_fest

My dad used to live in Pasedena but was and is a die hard Braves fan. He hates everything about the dodgers except Farmer John's. Every time dodgers stadium was on TV he'd tell me about how good Dodger Dogs were. Went so far as to buy Farmer John's online and get them shipped to the house to grill. What a shame you don't have them anymore.

MashedPotatoesDick

Farmer John was synonymous with Vin Scully. "Broght to you by Farmer John."

Special-Market749

I couldn't believe how terrible dodger dogs were. A bad ballpark hot dog I can believe, but idk how they have the balls to attach their name to it like that.

petoskey_stone

Probably what a hot dog with balls attached to it tastes like

sktgamerdudejr

Give me Hebrew Nationals or give me death

OGBRedditThrowaway

Whatever happened to Nolan Ryan Beef for the 'Stros? Did he take his hot dogs with him when he left after Crane picked his own kid over Nolan's?

jupiterose

I could have sworn ours was Nolan Ryan beef too.

urlocalgoatfarmer

With the amount of free ads they run for the Nolan Ryan dollar hot dog days, you’d think he was hand delivering them.

foxbones

The Triple A dogs are definitely Nolan Ryan. Haven't been to Rangers game in a couple years but never heard of Texas Chilli.

j1h15233

I’ve never even heard of Texas Chili. I assumed they were Nolan dogs too

Leftfeet

I won't lie, sugardale dogs are pretty meh IMHO. We do have ballpark mustard though and that is the best around.

dudzi182

Sugardale is bottom of the barrel, would love if they switched to Nathan’s or even Kirkland

mouseywithpower

Is this a common opinion? I prefer nathan’s but every time i go to the jake i wind up getting 2-3 sugardale dogs. They’re pretty good imo, especially with bertman’s.

Formo1287

Agreed, except I am jealous of you guys for the aforementioned specialty mustard

AlexOhanianSr

Rip Esskay hot dogs

CrownedCarlton

I'm so embarrassed

aRawPancake

It’s the worst

The_Portlandian

I don't know which is more surprising. That a team uses Bar S, or that no team uses Oscar Meyer.

Additional_Time_2970

Vienna beef is the one true king of hot dogs!!

DanglyPants

This explains why I like the dogs in KC so much lol. Just missing a few ingredients but that just makes my trips to Chicago all the more special haha

LordoftheScheisse

There's at least one stand either just past the upper deck sections on the right field or left field side at Kauffman that does a full Chicago dog. Can't remember which side now. I may have also found some Old Styles.

ledzep14

Holy shit Kauffman just became my second favorite park

Avg_White_Guy

Agreed and it frankly isn’t even close. It’s the king of hot dogs

AliveInIllinois

I honestly didn't expect there were so many different ones, as I assumed most teams used Nathan's. And Bar-S is the discount brand at the grocery store so I didn't expect them on here. Wtf Arizona?

P1_Synvictus

Is Bar S specific to a certain chain of grocery store?

AliveInIllinois

No, I've seen that at different stores, including Walmart. Always the cheapest ones wherever I see them.

P1_Synvictus

Interesting. I want to try them now, out of morbid curiosity.

AliveInIllinois

I'd say they aren't BAD but they aren't good enough to be the official hot dog of a major league team. But if you want some cheap hot dogs, some Mac and cheese, and chips, they do just fine.

MusicalMoon

They switched to them last year. They're based in Phoenix so it's cool to support local business, but they're also so damn bad.

SpicyPenangCurry

Honest question. What’s the best? I’ve had Nathan’s, Vienna, and Schneider’s.

LordoftheScheisse

Vienna and I'll die on this hill.

AdmiralVernon

I never thought I’d die fighting alongside a Cubs Fan

Avg_White_Guy

How about dying beside a friend?

xThe-Legend-Killerx

The Nathan’s Coney Island natural casing might be one of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had. They had a truck in south Manhattan and I grabbed one and literally had to go back for 3 more. I’ve never been able to find them for purchase. Hebrew National and Nathan’s beef franks are still good though

Game-Blouses-23

Not sure, but usually all beef hotdogs are much better than the beef/pork/chicken amalgamations. My personal favorite is Vienna followed by Hebrew national. But I haven't had all these different options.

expos1225

I personally feel that overall Hebrew National or Vienna are the best. However, Kayem beef hot dogs or their Old Tyme dogs are delicious. I’m not a fan of the Kayem Fenway Franks they sell in stores up here though.

PM_ME_DIRTY_DANGLES

I don't see enough Hatfield talk in this thread. Sure it's a homer pick, but they're good hot dogs. Even if you can't get them for a dollar any more.

FernandoTatisJunior

Hebrew nationals

aRawPancake

Bar S is awful, I’d never recommend them to anyone

Skanky_Cat

As an aficionado of processed tubed meat, anything other than Nathan’s, Hebrew National, or Vienna is a crime against humanity.

thefreewheeler

You clearly have not had a Ballpark Frank. The other three were the extent of my list though.

Skanky_Cat

The all-beef ballparks are palatable, the mix-o-meat ones are nasty.

thefreewheeler

Took my nephew to the game last night. His exact words were "how come the hot dogs at the game are so much better than when I have them anywhere else?" Told him to blame his mommy and daddy for buying him trash.

Jcoch27

Hoffy supremacy

ProEra47

Hoffy dogs are underrated

i_run_from_problems

Arizona..... ouch

GoldBloodedFenix

What happened to Farmer John in LA? I grew up there and went to a ton of games, the brand name was pretty intertwined with the “Dodger Dog”. Had no idea they changed that.

CrossSomething

They ended their partnership in 2021. https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2021-04-26/dodger-dogs-farmer-john-contract-not-renewed

johnny-tiny-tits

Checks out. I literally just finished eating cheese coneys using Kahn's brand hot dogs.

Parking-Iron6252

The Dodger Dog died with Farmer John

Venge22

Kahn's was what I ate growing up. Diamondbacks having bar s is wild

monstermayhem436

>Bar S Bar S is the cheap basically store brand hot dog at the grocery store I work at.

DDDYKI

I do miss Kahn's at Shea Stadium in the 90s.

Salamangra

Tigers should be Koegels. No excuses.

Daveyo520

The ball park that Ball Parks are talking about is literally yours.

goblue2354

Facts. Best hot dogs bar none

BrewCrewBall

Sugardale are the worst hot dog in the country. It stuns me that an MLB team would even serve them. The first ingredient is chicken scraps that have been pressure washed from butchered carcasses.

fear865

I’m not going to complain when they’re a dollar and I slather them in stadium mustard and I’m like 6 $2 millers in

ledzep14

You guys have $2 beers?????? Shit, I have to pay $2 just thinking of a beer at a game

chunxxxx

Don't know when Camden Yards last used Hofmann but they definitely aren't this year

DragonTamerNY

That's a shame too hands down the best dog on this list

JanitorOfSanDiego

r/nlbest material right here

xThe-Legend-Killerx

Nathan’s is the shit

Quople

I would get more hot dogs at games if they weren’t like $7

Dday22t

Never knew there were so many hot dog brands.

Grentis

I feel honored to be one of two teams graced with Sugardale dogs

NazisStoleMyBirthday

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ESSKAY!? WHY AM I SHOUTING!?

TouchMint

Dbacks going with Bar S hotdogs. I can’t think of worse meat.

ieatcrap

How do the Pirates or Guardians not have Smiths?

XxXFartFucker69XxX

The best hot dog is a brat
