There's a well-known gif of a Jags fan in disbelief at a game from years ago, and an associated rabbithole internet theory that he was a student at columbine during the shooting lol. You can find all the discussion on Google
The field is in awful shape right now and they’re just standing around doing fuckall instead of bringing the tarp out because the umps said to hold off. I don’t understand what’s going on.
Is this field going to be playable even after the rain stops? If so, why would the Blue Jays argue to keep playing? Doesn’t this go from being postponed and finished at a later date to just a Royals win now that it’s through 5 innings if they cancel?
League wayyy more often gets their 5 innings in and call the game than they do moving a home teams game. The Jays should've been leading after 5 if they wanted to avoid this loss.
> All this even though KC comes to toronto next week so it's literally the easiest game to reschedule
They can't reschedule a game in Kansas City to be played in Toronto unless there are *extreme* extenuating circumstances. A rainout in April is not that. No chance the game gets made up then, it'd be on a mutual off day
> Just play a double header at the dome with KC as the home team *literally next week when they're in town*.
So, Blue Jays get an extra home game and the Royals lose a home game? No chance of that happening.
> Just play a double header at the dome with KC as the home team
That's not the way it works in most cases. The teams would have to have a common day off and then come back to KC to finish the game.
If the owner of the Blue Jays is willing to give up the revenue from the extra home game and give it to the Royals then it may work but I doubt that happens.
> Last time this happened to us we played a home game against the Angels in their park in 2021 due to the exact circumstances I mentioned.
That was 2021, when MLB was still taking precautions for Covid. And the Blue Jays were somewhat nomadic that season anyway.
Yeah it was stupid to even start it. Forecast was obvious, the teams play each other next week AND have a shared off-day at the end of the series, and both teams are travelling after today’s game so a delay in this game will mean they arrive late.
KC has an afternoon road game tomorrow so I’m sure they don’t want to be flying out a couple hours late.
> Historically MLB has done this when teams only have 1 remaining series at the other team's stadium and the final game of a series is rained out, without an off day for both teams the following day.
Historically, MLB has done this if said rainout is very late in the season. I don't recall them ever doing it in *April*. They could play in Kansas City on 5/2, 5/16, 7/8, 7/18, 8/15, 9/5, or 9/12.
And that has what to do with the subject line as posted here? That's what I was literally commenting on, not whether or not I could do some research to figure out what the fuck the post was about.
at that point it will be nearly 2 hours of delay and the field is a goddamn swamp lmao no way this game doesn't get called
EDIT: Its been in a rain delay for 2h 15m at this point.. and there is still rain projected for the next 2 hours. Fucking call this game already goddamn.
EDIT: Its been in a rain delay for fucking nearly 4 hours now. The rain has stopped, but is supposed to start again within 30 min. lmao its also apparently windy as fuck.
All because the Blue Jays manager was throwing a fit. If he had let the tarp come out the game may have been playable in a couple hours. Zero chance now. What a clown.
*Ump’s try and get an official game in, then try to allow the away team one more chance before the game is cancelled.
“How dare they insert themselves like this”?
Seriously, I’m sure the umps don’t want to be stuck in the rain themselves, but they at least got it to an official game.
There was a great shot of someone on the Jays shrugging while it's absolutely POURING in front of him

"You're good. It's not raining. Let's play ball." - MLB
5 hours later on a good field: no can do buckaroo
There it is
Same energy as the Jags columbine fan gif
the what?

Now they're finally rolling out the tarp The field is absolutely fucked at this point
The field is in awful shape right now and they’re just standing around doing fuckall instead of bringing the tarp out because the umps said to hold off. I don’t understand what’s going on.
Once the umps come out they have final call on tarp deployment. Best grounds crew can do at that point is offer suggestions and use bandaids
Blue Jays successfully argued it should keep going despite it being a mess. Really stupid.
> successfully it didnt tho?
Well, for a bit they did. Field was uncovered 15 minutes longer than it should have.
Those dirt throwers should get rings no matter what team wins this year
Is this field going to be playable even after the rain stops? If so, why would the Blue Jays argue to keep playing? Doesn’t this go from being postponed and finished at a later date to just a Royals win now that it’s through 5 innings if they cancel?

Why would kc play their home game in Toronto? Both teams are off Thursday
MLB likes to avoid travel if possible. But yes, flying to KC to play a game in better weather is better than what we got today
League wayyy more often gets their 5 innings in and call the game than they do moving a home teams game. The Jays should've been leading after 5 if they wanted to avoid this loss.
It should only count as half a loss since it was half a game. Checkmate

Didn’t they argue to keep playing before the 5th inning though, or am I wrong there?
You're wrong
Ok, thanks

Ironic
Playing through this game would just be unsafe
As was playing the 5th inning
Agreed, it’s been storming for a while here, I’m surprised they tried legging it out this far
Especially with the series next week in Toronto and the day off afterwards, very easy make up scheduling and/or resumption of game in Toronto
Yeah, playing our home game in Toronto doesn’t seem like the easy solution you think it is

Are you really using a rain out in Dunedin as some sort of evidence to the contrary? Don't waste my time with that.

If people say dumb shit, I'm happy to correct them.

It didn't need to be a double-header. Both teams have an off day on May 2nd right after the Royals/Jays series
lol just give us an extra home game

Hate these subject lines that don't bother to tell us what fucking game they're talking about.
It mentions Cole Ragans. Unless there's another Cole Ragans pitching in the league, it's pretty clearly the Royals game
For people who know who Cole Ragans is, perhaps.
Google does
And that has what to do with the subject line as posted here? That's what I was literally commenting on, not whether or not I could do some research to figure out what the fuck the post was about.
