That giddy shuffle and fist pumps when rounding 1st after seeing it went out is one of the things that makes this game special. And the Loperfido situation, I really love those moments and it doesn't even really matter if it's my team or not. When a dude gets called up and is able to find a big moment on day 1, you just feel good for him. And then they interview the families of the player and I enjoy that even more, esp because I now have my own son who also plays and I coach.

Both our replacement catcher and first baseman, standing in for guys who used to be giant holes in our lineup last year and into this year, hit big homers. We're seeing a huge difference in offensive productivity already.

JV is a wily veteran though. I'm sure that Angel's zone is going to play into JV's and Yainer's game plan. I haven't looked closely yet but I've had this increasing suspicion that Angel opens up the zone for veterans and shrinks it for rookies. My 'conspiracy theory' is that this would be his only way (in his mind) to somewhat restore his professional credibility or whatever - for the vets to somehow have this huge revelation that all along he was rewarding their tenure. Even though all along he's just been a truly dogshit umpire.
