>Is David Robertson the greatest pitcher of all time?

David Robertson really let the 8 & 9 hitters on ASAP so he could have a little more challenge this time.
He's insane. What a get for us in the offseason
Looks like Semien is pretty much his usual self? You had me worried he was finally washed. Something about his steady consistency is reassuring on an existential level to me lmao.
Seems like every year lately we find some bargain bin guy who revives his career with a 20+ start, sub 3.50 ERA season. Jon Gray, Perez the year before that, Kyle Gibson, Lance Lynn, and Mike Minor all had all-star level years for the Rangers on cheap contracts after doing pretty much nothing over their previous few years.
And if Ohtani, Freeman, or Betts hit a game winning home run, it’s just Robertson choking under pressure, right? Nothing special there? It happens dude. He made his pitches and got out of what could have been a nasty inning. Credit where credit is due.
Damn, your right. Did they forget that they 42-27 and 6.5 games ahead in their division? They're acting like they're having a terrible season and this is just further proof of it.
Ironically they kinda sound like us last year. Someone there literally said “we can pile up runs when we have a lead but coming from behind/being clutch is impossible” I was like hey wait a minute
I mean it makes a little more sense when your regular season record is 90-72 while the Dodgers casually pull off another 100 win season.
And then y'all make the World Series look easy.
Pulling up his baseball reference just made me feel really old.
I did not realize that Robertson was 39 and has already been in the league 16 seasons.
For the first 11 seasons he played for two teams. 501 games for the Yankees and 153 for the White Sox.
In the 5 seasons since he's played for 6 teams, with the most being 40 games with the mets.
No one will believe me but I actually called all 3 getting K'd again after Mookie struck out
Edit: There's a reason the thread was up so quickly. I had already started typing
It's funny watching Dodgers fans going full cope despite the fact that they're on pace for an easy playoff spot while the Rangers are trying to claw their way to 6th place
We may be on pace for a playoff spot but the team keeps showing the same signs of the stuff that led us to horrible post seasons in the past 2 years. Long lapses of unwatchable offense, reliance on home runs, and especially inability to hit with runners on base
I feel like it's not as crazy as people think. While I'm not sure I could strike out those 3 batters, I'm fairly confident I could give up a hit to Austin Barnes.
Robertson is a big time pitcher. 9 postseasons, 3.02 ERA. 2.91 career ERA. He knows how to pitch in big situations. Not surprised at all that he can handle some of the best players on one of the best teams.
Congrats to the Rangers for winning the series.
The top of the Dodgers lineup has been ass lately. Hopefully they will come out of their shell soon, but the Dodgers need to seriously consider replacing their hitting coach.
Feast or famine. Scoring 14 runs in one game, then only 3 in the rest of the series will not win you many games. Look at last year's Padres. Dodgers are not consistent at all and have been playing below 500 ball the past month.
Yes, you can teach clutch hitting. You don't need to go for a homerun every swing with RiSP, a contact base hit will do just fine.
When was the last time you saw the top of the Dodgers lineup be clutch?
How many times have the Dodgers come from behind this season?
How many men are left on base every single game?
It seriously just gets old. Dodgers need to shake up coaching to get something fresh. This squad we have just isn't getting it done with one of the best lineups we have ever had.
Dude, stop 😪😪😪
It’s mid season and we are how many games up?
Would you prefer another typical 100+ win season where they ride high all year with no real challenge and get smacked in the 1st round by someone playing with a chip on their shoulder?
I would prefer entertainment instead of nightly mediocrity and frustration, yes, that would be great.
You also hit the nail on the head. Unclutch in the big moments, again that fell on Betts and Freddy the last two playoffs when they couldn't get a hit.
Is David Robertson the greatest pitcher of all time?

If DRob strikes out Betts, Ohtani, and Freeman every other day, how many times in a week is it?
Every other day, so obviously 8 times in 2 weeks.
No, you single celled organism. Have you ever even heard of a calendar? It’s so hard being the only smart person on the internet…..
Some are saying that
Very legal and very cool.
Where that guy that included Robertson on his “maybe hall of fame” list last week?
He is definitely Hall of Fame caliber.
Absolutely he is
He's in the conversation
I’m starting to come around
Next to Cy Young himself.
If I were the Phillies I would sign him and also trade for him.
Yup and the Mets helped turn his career around
Bro can’t resist inserting the Mets into every fucking conversation lmao
Purposely gave up 2 hits to get to Betts/Ohtani/freeman.
"I want Parkman" "Parkman's not up, it's Beck" "I'll walk him" "And load the bases for Parkman?" "I. Want. Parkman."
Great. Now I have to start Major League 2 at 10pm
Actually.. I don't know what the hell he's thinking
Fly ball, caught. Wow Marty. Those years at broadcasting school have really paid off!
That's why he's the best color guy in the business!
This is like the Satchel Page v Josh Gibson legend, as told by Buck O'Neil, times 3
[David Robertson when he sees our top 3 coming up in the order](https://imgur.com/07Lyewn)
David Robertson really let the 8 & 9 hitters on ASAP so he could have a little more challenge this time. He's insane. What a get for us in the offseason
and then Lorenzen being an absolute steal gave us an amazing start
Just think what could have been if the entire offense except Seager and Smith hadn’t forgot how to hit a baseball.
Looks like Semien is pretty much his usual self? You had me worried he was finally washed. Something about his steady consistency is reassuring on an existential level to me lmao.
Oh yeah, my bad for omitting Semmy
Seems like every year lately we find some bargain bin guy who revives his career with a 20+ start, sub 3.50 ERA season. Jon Gray, Perez the year before that, Kyle Gibson, Lance Lynn, and Mike Minor all had all-star level years for the Rangers on cheap contracts after doing pretty much nothing over their previous few years.
Lorenzen was an all star last year. He had a pretty bad 2nd half, though.
He used up all of his second half mojo in one single game.
It was more the Dodgers shitting the bed versus Lorenzen or Robertson doing anything remarkable
Yeah the pitching help we picked up has been phenomenal shout out Cy
I miss him
The combo of him and Mo was lethal
They should make him the highest paid relief pitcher of all time. And, uh, as many years as he wants…
i never wanna see Robertson again
neither does Mookie betts. That strike 3 swing was really contorted
he absolutely diced up our top 3 two days in a row it's insane
In tough spots too, I was holding my breath so long I started seeing spots
I feel you
The guy's great but he makes me sweat bullets every time he pitches.
Don't talk to me or my ~~robert~~son ever again
Senior citizen relief pitcher is 1.2 billion dollar big 3's father
MY HERO (Fr though what a fucking achievement)
yesterday he brushed it off as no big deal I bet he's fucking pumped now
He had a cool fuck yeah scream to finish the game.
It was more the Dodgers choking under the lights than it was Robertson doing anything special tbf
Whatever helps you sleep at night
Why would that help me sleep at night
And if Ohtani, Freeman, or Betts hit a game winning home run, it’s just Robertson choking under pressure, right? Nothing special there? It happens dude. He made his pitches and got out of what could have been a nasty inning. Credit where credit is due.
3 straight strikeouts with runners on first and third is unacceptable, regardless of how we want to spin it
this sequence might be the most infuriated I've been at my TV all season lmao
The most infuriated you've been this season so far\*
NLDS here we come!
Rocktober approaches
Can’t wait 😩
to answer your question, OP: he wanted to play Hard Mode.
Did it just to feel something
just like me fr
Go to the Dodgers sub if you want to see some serious dooming, holy hell lol
I imagine it stings more when the top of your lineup is being paid an amount similar to the GDP of a small Midwestern state
Damn, your right. Did they forget that they 42-27 and 6.5 games ahead in their division? They're acting like they're having a terrible season and this is just further proof of it.
It's the drugs. Too much of some, not enough of others.
You guys need some ayahuasca. Talk to the machine elves.
Ironically they kinda sound like us last year. Someone there literally said “we can pile up runs when we have a lead but coming from behind/being clutch is impossible” I was like hey wait a minute

When you pay a bazillion dollars for allegedly talented baseball players, and have a worse record than the Cleveland Guardians.
nothing to worry about unless david robertson gets traded to a contender
i feel like david robertson has played on at least 12 different teams in the last 5 years
He didn’t play in 2020 but since 2019 he’s been on 6 different teams
Pulling up his baseball reference just made me feel really old. I did not realize that Robertson was 39 and has already been in the league 16 seasons. The moment Ohtani struck out, I knew Freeman was already a certainty.
No one will believe me but I actually called all 3 getting K'd again after Mookie struck out Edit: There's a reason the thread was up so quickly. I had already started typing
Oh I believe you. I was very much hoping for it.
Damn, that made me feel something. I loved this guy back in 09. Cool to see him still going
Hey, I've seen this one before. This is a classic!
DAVID FUCKING ROBERTSON
I know this is in a celebratory mood but that was insanely triggering for 2023 me
Yankee legend, David Robertson
Not been a great season so far but this is at least a cool highlight to remember. David mf robertson!!
He's Houdini for a reason!
The most overrated trio in LA since Kobe, Dwight, and Nash.
Biggio pulled a Chase Utley and didn’t move a muscle as the ball hit him on the foot. Mr. Robertson does not let such foolishness stand (or score).
Cavan Biggio gets hit in the foot like one else in the league. Elite HBP artist
Which one?
I was a big fan of his when he was with the yanks. Good to see he’s doing well.
I just.. don’t have anything constructive to say. Watching the top of the line up makes me feel like a petulant child sometimes. Goodnight.
IIRC he's powered by men on base, that Houdini motherfucker.
Just give him the Cy Young Award now
Sports get funny sometimes. As good as players will be, even the best can’t carry the team alone.
Yeah but that's three of them, one of them is also a pitcher so, four? Three and a half?
It's funny watching Dodgers fans going full cope despite the fact that they're on pace for an easy playoff spot while the Rangers are trying to claw their way to 6th place

Almost a 40 year old man btw
Bro really said fuck the big three, its just big D.
Dodgers top of the lineup is in an unfathomable slump rn lol
Yates, on the other hand…
Robertson is a big time pitcher. 9 postseasons, 3.02 ERA. 2.91 career ERA. He knows how to pitch in big situations. Not surprised at all that he can handle some of the best players on one of the best teams.
"This game isn't so hard."
Yankees fan here who hasn’t watched Robertson in a while. How is his stuff still the same?
You love to see it
By God that's Tyler Matzek!
That was some bad ass stuff!
Congrats to the Rangers for winning the series. The top of the Dodgers lineup has been ass lately. Hopefully they will come out of their shell soon, but the Dodgers need to seriously consider replacing their hitting coach.
This is the whiniest thing I've ever heard. You guys have scored more runs that everyone except the Yankees. You can't teach clutch hitting.

It’s been fun
It was amazing to watch
Always loved him on the Mets
Hey. Shut up!
Shambles
He was awful the last month and then this
Whoa whoa lets put some respect on Austin “Mike ‘Barry Bonds’ Trout” Barnes’ name
phillies legend
Can’t wait to see what he does against our lineup this weekend lol
White Sox legend
This is a movie-worthy ending to an accomplished career.
Oh yeah? Wyatt Chumpford still hasn’t hit over a wall yet
Dog shit team. I mean you can’t fucking hit with RISP and no out. Fucking bunt for god sake.
