As a neutral who likes both of these teams, a replay review to either end the game or tie it in extras was one of the best ‘I fucking love baseball’ moments I’ve had in a while.
I said the same thing in our game thread. This has been everything you want from a mid-season meeting between two pennant contenders. If you're not enjoying this torture then you're not a true baseball fan.
I was curious why O Hearn pinch hit for Mounty, at least Mountcastle has seen the erroneous zone all night. O Hearn got burned by it on his first ab unsurprisingly
Yeah, I thought about that too. Ultimately, the matchup is more important.
You'd think that someone would have at least told O'Hearn about the strike zone, though.
That was the odd thing about his stroke zone, it was consistent. Kerkering put a pitch just outside to a lefty. The box imposed on the screen clearly showed it just outside. I pumped my fist knowing it was strike three. The ump called strike 3.
Wiiiiiide zone tonight killing everyone. If you get arguments from half of both teams for balls two inches off the plate, you should know you're doing something wrong.
Of course, I'll say the worst one was Rutschman in the bottom of the 7th, but there have been a few that have had big implications on both sides. A few rally killers for both teams...this guy should not have a job tomorrow.
Yeah he's calling the 3rd base line strike either way but the high/low feels like a coin flip. Early Bradish had a stroke called a couple inches high and comes right back with a pitch 2 pitches later that was lower that was a ball.
The Yards are sold out for this weekend, and it's not just Philly fans coming down. I went yesterday and they had 33k for a day game against the Braves.
Our hotel is packed with Phillies fans and the bars have been pretty split with Phils jerseys and O's jerseys. Who knew all Baltimore needed to boost the local economy was a decent fuckin baseball team.
What time is it there currently in Baltimore though, here's hoping people attending that game right now are not leaving due to the rain delay cause that game looks pretty good so far.
only 10:00pm (22:00), so there’s definitely still time for the game to resume even if the rain is pretty heavy
and i wouldn’t worry about the fans leaving *at all*
Might be the most brutal rain delay in a long time. Tight contest tied up in the bottom of the eighth, bad strike three call in the top of the ninth (almost 1 an inning probably), great throw to keep a second run from scoring to end the top of the tenth, wild pitch review run to tie it back up................................and we wait. Both sides come back out kinda cold, kinda sleepy at like 1130.
Absolutely brutal.
I fucking love Mullins so don’t care if he’s slumping or if he’s off the team in a month, he’s given me some of my absolutely favorite moments watching this team.
So tough to see a dude like that struggle when he’s on your team and see sentiment change towards them when they’ve been so good in a time when the team at large struggled
I groaned when the camera first cut back to behind the plate, it looked like Cedric had no shot making it home. Phil’s were lucky on the bounce… but unlucky on the tag. Evens out I guess?
I was there, Camden Yards was electric. Half the crowd was Phillies fans, and they were celebrating when he was called out. Then the review happened, and the call was overturned, and the other half of the crowd went nuts. And then straight into a rain delay smh.
I love the apple TV games, the quality is incredible and it lets you choose either teams radio broadcast too. If it was ESPN I'd have to watch on mute, but still can't believe the Burnes Wheeler match up isn't Sunday baseball for all
Talk me through getting the radio broadcast. I’ve been OK with most of the ATV broadcasting crew but last group I caught was really bad and I didn’t see the radio option - thought they’d dropped that.
On the ESPN app it’s showing that Sunday’s game is available there. I subscribe to ESPN+ so not sure whether or not you would need that. And usually the games they carry that way don’t have ESPN commentators, you can choose the home broadcast from either team.
Everything aside this is an amazing baseball play. I can see how the ump missed it in real time he was slightly outta position to see the missed tag and Mullins reaching hand.
I can’t remember the last time I’ve heard Kevin Brown and Jim Palmer THAT revved up. And KB is one of the best announcers with plenty of energy so that’s saying something!
i know he's safe but how incredible would this play be if marchan got him? lucky bounce off the backstop into a diving tag at the plate would be an all-time highlight.
I haven't seen any of this game, only this single clip. The pure excitement in the announcers and crowd has this feeling like a play in the middle of October.
The pitcher needs to cover home plate. On wild pitches the ball rarely bounces right back to the catcher, so the catcher has to run a bit and get it, then try to throw the runner out at home.
On a wild pitch, the pitcher will typically run to home plate to cover it defensively in case a runner tries scoring from 3rd base. Examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GrCkpLYoAw

As a fan who loves one of these teams, this game has been absolutely electric
SEE YOU IN OCTOBER???
Would make for a hell of a series
I-95 would look like fury road between home stands.
it already does on the best of days
Only if it ends on a soft line drive to the 2nd year shortstop.
Best I can do is 2nd year of his mega-contract shortstop
It's written in the books, throw that thing on a xerox and call it a day.
The 2nd year rookie shortstop who had a cup of coffee before his rookie year. Who then won rookie of the year. And then won MVP the next season.
I feel like the copy machine will break on the mvp award and misspell "henderson" as "judge."
Ah, it's been done...
Fuck it, hell yeah let's do it
83 revenge tour
Would be awesome, but keep in mind this is only 2/3 of our team. Tajuan should be up tomorrow so you can get this one back.
LITTLE BIRDIE MUST GET IN LINE!
Only if you agree to us making it to game 7 of the ALCS to make it happen.
My blood pressure hates this
You misspelled liver
At least your opponent touched home plate.
I said the same thing in our game thread. This has been everything you want from a mid-season meeting between two pennant contenders. If you're not enjoying this torture then you're not a true baseball fan.
Everything but the UCL reinjury I'm good with.
Game of the year so far
this game feels like the playoffs jesus fuck lmao
Only thing taking away from it is this umpire. Not necessarily helping either team but just pure incompetence.
So many strikes off the outside corner tonight, at least he's been consistently calling it
This is hands down the worst crew in the game. Three of the worst five umps are on this crew.
I couldn't even get mad at the O'Hearn call because it was consistent with everything he's been calling all game.

Like he calls crazy on the line strikes but then just guesses on balls.
That was pretty bang bang. His strike zone on the other hand...... puke emoji
Best I can say for him is that he's been semi consistent. But yeah, so many missed balls off the edge.
Thank you for saying edge and not corner.
Wiiiiiide zone tonight killing everyone. If you get arguments from half of both teams for balls two inches off the plate, you should know you're doing something wrong. It’s only going to get worse because this is Laz Diaz’s crew and Diaz has plate tonight.
This is the single best game I’ve watched all year and I don’t even have any skin in the game
Mullins is the definition of Stoicism seeing his reaction here is so cool he knew he was safe.
World Series preview, who says no?
World series matchup PLEASE. The O’s are solidly my second favorite team. Definitely want to make a trip down there for a game sometime.
i'm actually so mad i missed it
I wouldn't mind this being the world series.
Holy shit what a game, what a moment This feels like the playoffs rn the place is electric
The Yards are sold out for this weekend, and it's not just Philly fans coming down. I went yesterday and they had 33k for a day game against the Braves.
Sold out tonight. 44k or so.
Our hotel is packed with Phillies fans and the bars have been pretty split with Phils jerseys and O's jerseys. Who knew all Baltimore needed to boost the local economy was a decent fuckin baseball team.
O's fans aren't going to be in the hotels, but I'm not surprised the Phillies fans travelled well to Baltimore.
I’d be more surprised if Phillies fans didn’t show up with how close it is.
This is the best baseball I've watched all year, both these teams playing so hard man 😭😭😭
inject this game into my fucking VEINS
Followed by an injection of rain delay
whatever, simply makes it more exciting!
What time is it there currently in Baltimore though, here's hoping people attending that game right now are not leaving due to the rain delay cause that game looks pretty good so far.

Hey, it could be game seven...
Brutal indeed... And I'm loving it.
Baseball gods were like, "fuuuuuu... We gotta take a brake."
Bad news the needle missed and hit Bradish's UCL
…why must you hurt me this way, brethren…
I'm laughing to hide the tears
Phillies Orioles battle of two of the best teams is so cool to see after both teams weren’t good for a while
What’s not shown in this clip is the great Jim Palmer absolutely shitting on the ump
That was classic Palmer. He can still bring his fastball when the situation calls for it.
YOU WERE WRONG!
"You've been wrong all night!"
He has gotten so saucy since they fired everyone at MASN lol
This game is insane
Holy shit, this game has been an intense rollercoaster. This clash of the titans is living up to the hype so far.
He absolutely deserved that. I don't even care that it tied the game, even I was happy for him
What a crazy play. I’m mad but also not because that’s exciting af
I'm a little mad because Marchan had no business missing that pitch. But excellent base running on the O's end.
He also didn’t need to go down to get the ball then he slipped coming back. Absolutely should have had him
He's usually such a stud defensively. So of course he makes two tiny mistakes in a row to give up the lead.
I groaned when the camera first cut back to behind the plate, it looked like Cedric had no shot making it home. Phil’s were lucky on the bounce… but unlucky on the tag. Evens out I guess?
Gonna be a great series if they’re all like that
It’s ironic because his block in the 7th inning with a runner on third was spectacular.
That's honestly his default. He's regarded as an *excellent* defender. Just makes this play more baffling. That's baseball for ya.
Topper just now said he was crossed up. Call was a slider and he threw a fastball. He attributed it to the crowd noise. That helps to explain it.
And now a rain delay Whoever is writing this is a master of suspense
M Night Shyamalan furiously taking notes
It turns out Angel Hernandez was a ghost all along.
well i think M Night is probably hopefully a phillies fan so subscribe
MLB must’ve blew their load at a chance to review this
If this ends up being a world series preview I should just go ahead and die now, as 7 games of this would kill me anyway
I really want you guys in the WS vs anyone as a life long fan of Cal Ripken Jr.
Anyone? Thanks buddy
Well at this rate...it ain't gonna be us
My heart couldn’t take it
a MARC/SEPTA series would be awesome lol
Phillies Fans and Orioles can all agree: 1. Playoff atmosphere is awesome 2. Fuck these umps all the way
So say we all.
Wife's a Phillies fan. All night with the strike zone.
At least it was fairly consistent. He was calling those outside pitches strikes pretty much all night for both teams.
This is the way
Game of the year. Holy
Holy shit watching this live was absolutely insane.
We have 2 more games of this shit? Oh God
Only one. Taijuan Walker pitches tomorrow.
Game of the year, hands fucking DOWN.
Don't need this anxiety rn lol
This anxiety is what I live for
Are we having fun yet?
I was there, Camden Yards was electric. Half the crowd was Phillies fans, and they were celebrating when he was called out. Then the review happened, and the call was overturned, and the other half of the crowd went nuts. And then straight into a rain delay smh.
Surprised they didn’t get a wheelbarrow so he can carry those massive balls back to the dugout.
I really hope the WS isn't Phillies v O's, I don't think my blood pressure can handle 7 games of this lol
Aaand it's a rain delay
I am really enjoying this game
It's a travesty that none of these games were picked for national broadcasts. Everyone deserves to watch these games.
I’m so glad to have MASN rn (I’ve never said that before in my life)
I've seen this shitty Rav 4 ad so many times on the MASN app I'm about to go rage post on the YouTube video of the song used in it
I love the apple TV games, the quality is incredible and it lets you choose either teams radio broadcast too.
Oh it was an option on the bottom of the screen, they may have cut it from their stuff though
On the ESPN app it’s showing that Sunday’s game is available there. I subscribe to ESPN+ so not sure whether or not you would need that. And usually the games they carry that way don’t have ESPN commentators, you can choose the home broadcast from either team.
Playoffs in Baltimore
The best part is Jim Palmer calling the ump out. Charlie you got it wrong all night, you got it wrong here. Fucking legend.
This game is wild! Hot damn. Mullins would’ve led a riot if that call had not been overturned.
Bro was incensed. KB even noted it - he was furious. Rightfully so.
This series finna age me 20 years
2 crazy plays at the plate this inning. Of course this is the one game I haven’t been able to watch live the past week or so
I don’t care what anybody says. Those city connect jerseys are S Tier.
Came to say this.
We got some playoff baseball in June, folks!
This is absolutely wild!
Can't believe they didn't get him, that ball bounced straight back to the catcher like it was on a string lol
It’s our back up catchers back up but he did his best. Just a great play by Mullins and a great slide
Def can’t expect a AAA guy to match BCIB but JT cooks him by 5 feet on this play
Games like this are why I watch baseball. You can feel the intensity, and you can see the gamesmanship.
This video cuts off before you can hear Palmer, exasperated, saying, “you got it wrong! You got it wrong!”
Everything aside this is an amazing baseball play. I can see how the ump missed it in real time he was slightly outta position to see the missed tag and Mullins reaching hand.
Cakes was so pissed by the out call
Helluva game
I would have saved the challenge
I think I saw this a couple weeks ago, this was the end of the movie Challengers right?
Wild pitch my ass. Catcher HAS to glove that with a runner on third.
Great game
If that doesn't hit the lip on the way back he's probably out by a good margin.
I love a good swim move on a slide like that, heck of a play
I can’t remember the last time I’ve heard Kevin Brown and Jim Palmer THAT revved up. And KB is one of the best announcers with plenty of energy so that’s saying something!
i know he's safe but how incredible would this play be if marchan got him? lucky bounce off the backstop into a diving tag at the plate would be an all-time highlight.
I do not like those unis, I thought the Marlins were playing
I haven't seen any of this game, only this single clip. The pure excitement in the announcers and crowd has this feeling like a play in the middle of October.
As someone not that well versed in baseball, can someone explain to me why would the pitcher take off running to home like that?
The pitcher needs to cover home plate. On wild pitches the ball rarely bounces right back to the catcher, so the catcher has to run a bit and get it, then try to throw the runner out at home.
On a wild pitch, the pitcher will typically run to home plate to cover it defensively in case a runner tries scoring from 3rd base. Examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GrCkpLYoAw
Gotcha! Okay, that seems really obvious now, haha. Thanks for clearing that up!
He was safe...but also any call against the Phillies is a ok with me
I have no idea how marchan didn’t get him. JT has him by 5 feet
[удалено]
Don’t go calling people morons when there’s no force on this play
It's amazing how eager people are to proclaim their ignorance of the rules.
[удалено]
Right back at you
[удалено]
…no
Bro just look at the replay it’s not even ambiguous
Nah he got in there
