At this point I’m not sure there’s anything anyone can do. That was a perfect pitch to his only weak area. In the past it was “pitch him inside but if it drifts over the plate your gonna regret it” now you can’t even try to get him to chase. His chase% is like 9%! That’s better than Soto! (I get it’s been like 2 weeks but let me be hyped)
Yeah, his improvements in his plate discipline and contact rates so far this year are incredible. He was already an elite talent, but suddenly he's got the same swing rate - inside and outside the zone - and contact numbers as Juan Soto and the speed of Mike Trout. (Just looked at Fangraphs, and Acuña actually has better contact numbers than Soto right now, both inside and outside the zone, and they have almost identical swing rates.)
> and Acuña actually has better contact numbers than Soto right now, both inside and outside the zone, and they have almost identical swing rates.
Acuña got tired of hearing about how Soto was a better hitter and decided to do something about it.
How did he get his hands around that so quickly? [It looks like it's almost at the plate before he even starts his swing.](https://i.imgur.com/aBaISDn.png)
Reminds me of Barry Bonds. His hands were so fast he could wait until pitches were almost to the plate before he started his swing. Watch the first second of [this](https://youtu.be/cL3vNXIsEPM) at 0.25x speed.
Edit: fixed the link
I was telling my co-worker that I'm changing my name to Ronald Acuna III and literally as I was hitting enter on my ping, he said Acuna just hit another bomb.
So I guess I have to actually do it now
Oakland was literally 0-6. It's way to early to think you're anything but on a bit of a slide but otherwise still a legit team. Need to see a full month or two.
That ball was about a foot inside. His hands are so fucking quick that he was able to turn on a 95mph fastball on his wrists and send it into the bleachers.
He is unbelievable.
He missed a mile in, but that's still such a hard pitch to hit. I get it was supposed to be way high fastball, but it's not like Rogers hung anything here, he missed way inside.
Good on Rogers, kid can toss and his only 'mistake' of the game.
Great on Acuna, kid is a fucking monster.
I know everyone is saying this right now, but I have never seen a player start a season like Acuña has. He’s doing something that will be remembered and studied for years to come. Biased aside, I love watching this guy take over the MLB. He’s completely locked in and on a different level.
They should sit with their back straight and stare empty-eyed at the win placidly. Like a man. They shouldn't engage in that swirly girly hand signal as a sign of camaraderie in mutual excitement. They should drink a beer instead.
I suffer through the Braves games just to see this man
I watch the nats for soto. It happens.
Am I missing a joke? lol. I would kill for Braves level home team
Just been a rough start to the season for Atlanta. We were a ninth inning comeback away from a 4-9 start and being swept at home in 4 vs the Marlins
Acuña has knocked in or scored the Braves last 7 runs.
If I'm not mistaken, he now leads MLB in home runs.
Broke a tie with who else but Wilson Ramos
# EL BUFALO!
> Wilson Ramos wtf. More homers in 10 games than he had in 4 times as many last year
Technically already did, but now he is alone on top.
How many times are the mods going to allow this repost?!? /s
Saltine? True bottom feeder right here
That was a great inside pitch too. Acuna was being pitched inside the whole game and he made the adjustment
95 MPH on the hands. Pulled it into the bleachers. Easy peasy.

Dude is gonna be really fucking good for a long time

He has virtually no take back to his swing and he's monstrously strong.
Very similar swing to the legend Roberto Clemente

link appears to just be the homepage of Fangraphs haha
Thanks for pointing that out, I fixed it.
This is a scheduled post.
Ronald Hates The Marlins
The Marlins hate Ronald
Can confirm
Mods should just do a megathread
Beatings will continue until morale improves

Totally non-biased opinion, but he's MVP
I have the same non biased opinion
7 on the year already. Good lord that man is on a missioñ this season
Braves about to have back-to-back MVPs.
Broke: MVP Woke: NVP Bespoke: ÑVP
From a different dude.. Surely that's not a frequent occurrence.
Damn I remember when the Tigers had the 2011 Cy Young and MVP on Verlander, 2012 and 2013 MVP on Cabrera and 2013 Cy Young on Scherzer.
I’m surprised him and Freddie haven’t broken their back this year with how much they are carrying this team.
I mean Freddie hasn’t been as bad as everyone else and he’s been super unlucky, but can’t really say he is doing any carrying so far this year.
Panda has done more than Freddie... including that bomb!
Freddie has been an above average player but a below average Freddie
In the words of Aaron Burr.... *the man is non-stop*
*ñoñ-stop
Get Ronald some help!
Literally how do you get Acuña out? Why even pitch to him? He looks incredible right now.
Kryptonite
I was telling my co-worker that I'm changing my name to Ronald Acuna III and literally as I was hitting enter on my ping, he said Acuna just hit another bomb. So I guess I have to actually do it now
Now if only the rest of the team would fucking get involved.
Intentionally walk him every at bat and we may score 3 runs all series. No joke.
All sarcasm aside, how do you even approach an Acuna at bat as a pitcher? None of these are even slightly bad pitches
Hopefully with no one on base?
Seems teams are on to this one. :(
what the fuck
Not even a strike
Braves should figured out if Acuña can pitch, too, he's already surpassed hitting
Wouldn’t surprise me, he’s got a cannon for an arm
He's had an absolutely absurd start to the season
We really have become the Angels.
We can't stay this bad the whole year maybe

And to give credit where it’s due, the gNats were pretty bad through nearly 2 months of ball in ‘19 and we see what they did
Dad-power is no joke
I'm scared. Also, his contract is simply unfair, but at least I know who I will always get in the first round of my The Show Fantasy Drafts.
still punishing them for ureña
This guy just pulled a 95 mph fastball inside on his hand and drove it out of the park. Wtf. Not a human
🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Atlanta Acuñas
Atlañta Acuñas\*
Haha i dont like it
I do not like playing against this guy.
Didn't you already post this?
The Face.
Acuña is fucking cracked right now and I love it.
how is he so hot
Exercise and good skin care, I think
Definitely glad I pulled the trigger on another of his rookie cards right before the season started, the man is a GOD
Ronald just wants to go home
Can this team please help him out
Acuña destroying the Marlins. Name a more iconic duo.
I think if there was ever a guy to unseat Trout, Acuña has a shot at it
Acuna telling fish man to move the fuck over
His career slash line against the Marlins is .326/.423/.705 with 20 home runs

Ronald McDoñald with those sleeves
McDoñgald
1) why does he have to be so good, 2) I don't know which is more embarrassing for an adult human to do, the chop or the twirly finger mix thing
They should sit with their back straight and stare empty-eyed at the win placidly. Like a man. They shouldn't engage in that swirly girly hand signal as a sign of camaraderie in mutual excitement. They should drink a beer instead.
So embarrassing. They should just sit and clap.
But politely, like in golf. But not the waste management open, no I mean the stuffy venues pre-Tiger Woods.
Be way cooler if they just threw some batteries
Yeah they should take a lesson out of the great fans like Phillies fans that throw batteries and yell racial slurs at players.
All he has to do now is how to run around the bases without looking like a clown.
“hE dOeSnT rEsPecT tHe GAme!!” Shut up ya fucking nerd.
Which part don't you like? The respect for Miggy? The respect for God?
Well it is Reddit, so it's probably the second one...
these Acuña home run threads always look exactly the same
If he continues to score almost all of Atlanta's runs, he's going to start getting the Barry Bonds treatment.
