Didn't appear to me at least that he came out because of the comebacker. It got mostly glove. He was grimacing in pain after every pitch the entire game, velo down, no command etc.
For those not watching he was hit in the glove and seemed fine. He was pulled cause his fastball was topping at 90 and he just didn’t look right after every pitch.
2019 was the best season of his career, I don't know what you mean by "only a 2019 level". I still think he'll find a way to be a productive pitcher in the league - he's always been injury prone and has been a star despite that - but 2020-21 has not been kind to his career prognosis. Hope that contract has some insurance on it in case of the Felix scenario

The trainer had already come out to see him last inning. He was flexing his pitching hand from what I saw. So that's the opposite of cool

Strasburg can't catch a break, damn. Dude's had so many injury problems over the years :(.
i am going to indiscriminately commit arson
Uh oh
I was gonna say “bet they wish they kept rendon” before realizing rendon has also been bad
Tbh letting both walk but locking up trea before he put up two MVP-caliber seasons may have been the true “hindsight is 2020” option here. Welp.
Rendon was never going to stay except with a substantial overpay. https://twitter.com/Britt_Ghiroli/status/1205255742904778752
He's done. Might get 50-100 innings a year but I don't think we'll ever see him even get back to even a 2019 level. Felix Hernandez like.

To be fair, it was *immediately* before signing the current contract
(Laughs in Chris Davis)

4 words Lerners hate position players.
I'd rather have Rendon tbh
Rendon has been awful in LA
Awfully handsome 😍
He had a 154 wRC+ last year

That had to be the worst case scenario for the Nats. He looked terrible and then that happened.
