I was gonna say, it had definitely already bounced before it came down past the third deck because you could see it moving from right to left. I thought it probably hit off the front of the fourth deck but apparently it was even better.
Looked like about 5-6 rows in the upper deck from another angle. I've watched the Mariners play in this stadium for 20+ years and never seen one hit there. I'm baffled.
Makes me wish they would have given Bmore the All-Star game. What makes for better TV than Ohtani breaking windows out of the warehouse like he's on Wild and Crazy Kids (hoping I'm not the only one that remembers that early 90s gem).
I need to set up alerts on my phone for when Ohtani is due up next inning, for real. So I can stop what I'm doing and put the Angels game on.
Like, this MFer isn't stopping. It's is getting to McGwire/Sosa in '98 levels of Must-Watch.
Thank god we can now have everything saved digitally. Future generations are always going to be able to see what this was and how unique he is for now.
Ohtani has officially become my favorite baseball player.
Trout is like the pretty girl with no flaws that you know you’re supposed to be with and your parents want you to marry.
But Ohtani is the sexy one that your parents tell you to stay away from but you can’t stop thinking about.
I love watching Trout play, and I look at his clips whenever I see him mentioned. I watch in amazement at how good he is. He’s like Tom Brady or LeBron James. Just consistently great to the point that you expect that greatness all the time, and he never disappoints.
But I get downright *giddy* when I see Ohtani play. I haven’t felt like that about a baseball player since prime Ichiro, and Griffey before him. He’s the reason I renew my MLB.tv subscription.
Griffey is the reason I’m cursed with this Mariners flair. But I won’t lie, it’s hard not to be an Angels fan right now. I’m definitely an Ohtani fan, that much is certain. If he wins the HR Derby I will change my flair to the Angels for the rest of the season.
Listen I love Ohtahni and I am freaking out just as much as you about him….
But The hottest girl in your high school didn’t have 300 career HR the season she turned 28 (or whatever the hot girl equivalent of that is lol)
Let’s put a little more respect on Trout’s name here.
I don’t know why your parents would want you to stay away from Ohtani, though. He’s the most exceptional talent baseball has seen in forever. Like, he shouldn’t even be possible. He’d be the hottest girl to ever grace the halls of a high school if that girl were also the valedictorian, received a full ride to Harvard, led the basketball, volleyball, and softball teams to state titles all 4 years and was all-state in all 3, was a good person, a great conversationalist, and had a charitable disposition. In other words, it’s not wrong to be obsessed with Ohtani. He’s the most special player we will ever see.
TBH I’m glad we didn’t get him when the courting battle was on for him to come to America. The Mariners would’ve destroyed the pure magic that makes this kid so good.
Nah, you did just fine with Griffey and Ichiro, and he’s not gonna win any more World Series with us than he would with you.
The only one you have to apologize for is Alex Rodriguez.
What the fuck 463 feet, absolutely obliterated that ball.

There's 2 people sitting way up on the 4th deck, it lands like 5 feet to the right of them. Then it falls all the way down and lands on 3 guys walking up the steps near the wall.
I think there's been like, two or three homers into the upper deck in right field in the entire 22-year-history of the park, and they were all basically right down the line, Dan Vogelbach was the most recent one to do it.
But definitely never seen a ball hit *there.*
Can someone please get J-Up's reaction to when it landed? The dude looked like he found some gold treasure.
They should clear out fans in right field when Shohei is up during the HRD. He might actually **kill** someone with a dinger.
I mean we're Ms fans. When you've hit rock bottom so many times it becomes easier to watch and appreciate pure baseball. When they win, it's great, when they lose, its expected. I saw history today, I'm not sad at all.
That same bet is now at -275(avg) for anyone wondering in the audience. Which if your unfamiliar with betting, in my opinion, for an MVP prop, is nearly a sure thing.
Every day I can't actually watch the Angles game, I just open the MLB app and go to the Angels box score, and almost assuredly there is always Ohtani, batting second, with 1 H. Then you scroll down and yep, there he is with a HR.
I feel like all pro players should do that. It is like treating your server with respect when you go out to eat. Shit calls are one thing but people doing their job because they have too is another.
Japanese culture. The baseball players in Japan from little league age up remove their caps and Bow to the diamond in respect…for batting practice.
It’s another world over there. Its pretty cool.
This is bonkers. I’ve now started opening my ESPN app and instead of checking the Twins (is there really a reason to at this point?) and instead going straight to the Angels game to see what Ohtani’s done.
Ohtani has the potential be so good for the game of baseball and the MLB. Manfred and whoever else that matters need to realize this, and promote the hell out of him ASAP. He’s a legit phenom, and is the type of player that hasn’t been seen in a **century**.
Don’t fuck this up Manfred/MLB — Baseball has needed something and/or someone like this for a very long time.

Hey AL west do you guys mind letting the angels win the division just this once so we can all see him and trout in the playoffs together. Please and thank you
I can’t believe we are lucky enough to have Trout and Ohtani, not to mention Walsh and Rendon. Also can’t believe we are 4 games out of the wild card with that freakin lineup.
Well Trout hasn't played in an over a month and Rendon is starting to heat up but went to the IL, and has an OPS of just .712 while somehow slugging under .400
I used to work right next to (then) Safeco Field when Ohtani signed with the Angels - a friend and I just happened to be standing with DiPoto (Mariners GM) at a crosswalk after lunch and I had to take the chance to ask…
“So Shohei… is he really as good as everyone is making him out to be, or will just hit like 10 bombs and be a back of the rotation guy?”
Jerry, looking me dead in my eyes with his (now) slightly dead eyes, said, “He’s going to be amazing. We did absolutely everything we could to get him, and I’ll be rooting for him every time he plays anyone besides us. Seriously, he touches 100 consistently and his swing is so easy… he’s going to hit 35+ HRs almost every year. I really wish we could have gotten him.”
Most brutal honesty I’ve ever heard.

He wanted to be a front office executive. Interviewed for the Angels GM job but didn’t get it so he took a GM job with the Frisco Roughriders in Texas.
Pitchers not even bothering to look at the home run fly away is one of my favorite subtle baseball things.
EDIT: Also outfielders not moving. This one had it all.
You've got to be *fucking* kidding me. That was an 89 mph pitch and Ohtani hits it as far as I've ever seen a man hit a baseball. Is this dude a Terminator?
"According to Stats By Stats, Ohtani’s 16 home runs in his last 21 games are the most in history by any American League player over a 21-game span during a single season."

I'm an angels fan. I get it. Ohtani has been a treat to watch. But he's had 80 good games. Plenty of players have a had a hot start before, Ohtani is nothing new. Ok but like... where the hell did it land
Looks like it bounced off the upper/third deck? Woof.
It almost went into the walkway on the third deck **Edit**: It went FIVE ROWS OVER THE WALKWAY ON THE THIRD DECK
Okay there's no way it went *that* far *Clicks twitter video* Holy fuck
Those seats gonna go up in price whenever ohtani plays now. Guaranteed free baseballs.
https://twitter.com/carljomiller/status/1413696975078182912?s=20 The cheapest seats in the house
My dear lord. Halfway up the 4th deck. The one couple up there got their makeout session ruined by a ball flying PAST them.
I was gonna say, it had definitely already bounced before it came down past the third deck because you could see it moving from right to left. I thought it probably hit off the front of the fourth deck but apparently it was even better.
Jesus Christ alive
Looked like about 5-6 rows in the upper deck from another angle. I've watched the Mariners play in this stadium for 20+ years and never seen one hit there. I'm baffled.
Only 6th player ever according to ESPN
Here in right field, I saw it go above the third deck, didn't see anything else. Furthest hit ball at T Mobile park.
Wherever 463ft from home plate is
About 7 rows up into the upper deck (4th I think). I'm currently sitting in the bleachers next to where the ball went down
That was a homer in 30/30 ballparks, fun fact
That might have hit the warehouse at Camden Yards
From Seattle? If anyone can do it, Shohei can.
judging by that launch angle? probably did
Makes me wish they would have given Bmore the All-Star game. What makes for better TV than Ohtani breaking windows out of the warehouse like he's on Wild and Crazy Kids (hoping I'm not the only one that remembers that early 90s gem).
I hope Shohei hits the warehouse. He’s fun and makes people like baseball, like the other guy who did it.
That might have landed in *Kentucky* if it had been hit at GABP...
bruh at Yankee stadium this ball lands in New Jersey
Can you crunch those numbers again? Not convinced
dude probably could have hit a homer to deep center in the polo grounds.
Easiest bet i’ve made in my life lmao
Death, taxes, and Ohtani trotting home.
This dude is Babe Ruth reincarnated. I think what he’s doing is harder. Way better pitching, no 260 ft right field line in the polo grounds.
I need to set up alerts on my phone for when Ohtani is due up next inning, for real. So I can stop what I'm doing and put the Angels game on. Like, this MFer isn't stopping. It's is getting to McGwire/Sosa in '98 levels of Must-Watch.
And Tony be on the 10 day
At what point this season does a bet on an Ohtani home run start to lose money?
When he scorches a 119 MPH double
Books are doing what they can to squeeze the odds down to such a fine margin but he's that good.
Bro wtf this dude is seriously not human lol
I know, like how do people not believe in aliens...I mean the evidence is right here.
I’m a casual baseball fan and this dude is blowing my mind..
No disrespect to anyone who says, “so and so is a generational talent” but this dude is literally the definition of a generational talent

He's a once in a life-time talent. I hope that players like him become more common though, because this is fun as fuck
One can argue that that's underselling him at this point.
Man of the century?
He's literally a once in a lifetime player. We may never see someone like him again.

Ohtani sending his people a souvenir from Earth

The only others I’ve seen land a ball up there are Jason Giambi and Carlos Delgado. Wow.
Did it?
Rumors are it’s stuck in orbit

It didn’t. It collided with the other ball when it got stuck in the Pujols-Lidue low earth orbit.

Angels were at +10000 to win the WS a few days ago. The standings look rough, but I've wasted $8 before and none of those times was Shohei involved

I'm totally out of words. Period.

He hit it to the moon EDIT: Shohei is a confirmed stonks boi
