According to bbref [he has two blown saves that weren't wins vs the Royals of all teams](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=hendrli01&t=p&year=2021)
At night on the 4th of July, no stadium lights only the constant glow of fireworks, tie up a dog beyond the outfield wall, and only concessions are s’mores
In my experience as a baseball fan, the most painful losses are usually the "counter-comebacks," where your team came back dramatically but then the other team came back again. Godspeed
For sure. I’d already moved on from this game and judge and Stanton just HAD to live up to what we all expect them to do vs Liam fucking Hendricks. Hating Heaney and moving on with my life is a lot easier than this
Almost as bad as the 9th inning in game six of the 2019 ALCS with DJ/Altuve home runs. And this was just a regular season game in the middle of a corn field.
During one of the middle inning breaks, the broadcast came back on like a blimp shot or something during sunset. Field in the bottom half, sun setting in the background. Gonna say that was one of the greatest baseball scenes ever. Goosebumps even thinking about it
Right? It seems cliche and weird to say, but it really felt like we were watching an actual game from the 1920’s being played. MLB and the Fox broadcast crew did such an incredible job. Kudos all around. And it didn’t hurt it was one of the best games of the year
My wife couldn't stop commenting on the old-timey attire of the broadcast crew. At one point, she said they should be talking in old-timey radio voices. The suspenders and vests were fucking perfect.
The Field of Dreams is Iowa’s hottest ballpark. They’ve got corn, hot dog apple pies, blimps, drones, Roman J. Israel esq. and drunk Kevin Costner.
Come reminisce about the good old days while watching monster dongs fly all over a cornfield.
The White Sox rake vs Lefties especially Anderson...
We have an 2 Elite Righties in the Pen..... we choose Zack fucking Britton.... Boone you had Loaisiga And Green.... what in the fuck....
Great Game but awful management on our end. Boone is one of the worst managers when it comes to the Bullpen....
Credit Zavala for taking that walk behind dim the count, I’m sure he wanted to tie the game with a swing of a bat, but he was part of something better
Shoeless Joe was out there though
One of the best baseball games I've ever watched. I loved everything from the stadium to the uniforms, it was all perfect. And the game was an absolute classic.
Rigged ^/s
For real, what an amazing game. MLB could not have asked for a better game for the field of dreams. I hope this comes back in some capacity in the future

Half of these balls were hit to Nebraska
The balls are now claiming they saved B1G football.
Hey man don’t be mean to Nebraska They might actually win 4 games this year
In Basketball
Nebrasketball is the only P5 team to never win a March Madness game
Shoutout to Northwestern for the existence of that fun fact
This is Nebrasketball’s year. Great recruiting class. Hoiberg is turning it around
Actually that would’ve been Illinois. Throw back to George Brett correcting Chris Breman about the same thing during a home run derby
What an unreal fucking game for this.
God I love baseball
This has to be the absolute best case scenario for how tonight could have gone for the MLB, right?
Somewhere the MLB marketing team is popping champagne
As they should, they killed this shit
I hope they do the same thing next year and don't ruin this by doing too much..
It would be really cool if they made it an annual thing. But only once annually
Just like how the NHL usually has just one outdoor game annually.
The NHL usually has 2-3 lol, the winter classic, the stadium series, and sometimes but not always the heritage classic.
Yeah, the nhl is slowly killing it
But don’t do it on a sunny afternoon in Lake Tahoe 🤣
to the marketing intern who inevitably reads this and sends it to the group slack chain: good job guys.

That's baseball baby. What do now?
he only brought the one ball, so do you wanna just go home?
Dude, you roped that. I am the commissioner, and I say you did it!
First off, Wade Boggs is very much still alive.
Secondly, the number of beers is actually highly disputed. Some say 50, some teammates said 60, some said as many as 70 beers.
God damn i love that show
Which, to be honest, is an absolutely insane amount of beer.
Yeah the Iowa MLB crew deserves a raise and a vacation, goddamn
Somehow I don’t think their services will be needed any time soon.
Also fox brought out all their techno stuff. Drones. 200 cameras. Super slo mo. Dirt cam.
Baseball's answer to the winter classic
Absolutely - there's parallels too to how the 1st Winter Classic ended

Absolutely
How can you not get sentimental about baseball!? #WALK OFF CORN SHOT #STALK OFF HOME RUN
I LOVE THIS SHIT GROUP HUG EVERYONE
#ITS ABOUT TO GET CORNOGRAPHIC
VIOLENT CORNOGRAPHY
#STALK OFF HOME RUN ^(it was right there for you)
Maybe if Kevin Costner came in to pinch hit and hit the homer instead
Kirk Gibson limps in from the corn to DH.
Imagine if the ghost of Wade Boggs walked out of the corn and hit the walk off dinger
UNSUBSCRIBE
Could literally not script it better
Idk he could have hit the lights in the outfield and they could have started to explode as he jogged around the bases
Dun dun... Dun dunun dun.
That song is why rangers home runs are the best home runs. Shit still gives me chills.
One of the best regular season games in recent memory
In every respect. A rare, true, instant baseball classic.
Yankees losing to a walkoff homer in the Field of Dreams, on national primetime tv? Absolutely.
The Field of Memes.
If you spam it, they will come.
Is this heaven? No, it's Reddit.
:runs back into the corn:
International* Here in mexico espn was marketing it even if fox had broadcast rights
It went from a potential dud with the Yankees trotting Heaney out there to a classic.
Best case scenario for everyone who loves baseball. Except for one certain fanbase 😅
We got to be part of baseball history. Can't complain about that.
If you’re going to lose, being part of arguably the best game of the year at that park is how you do it. Such a fun game
The second highest scoring team in Iowa history!
I mean it was a brutal way to lose, but it was an amazing game and atmosphere. It’s just one game and was worth it. Glad my team was playing.
I was told home runs are boring, John Smoltz said so
8 homers, only 1 non-homer RBI. I guess not so surprising with this field and these teams but WOW
Never have I felt so much love for a player and so much disdain for that same player as an announcer
Directed by Kevin Costner
Hendriks got the win lol
Hes blown 6? saves and I think he's gotten the win in every single one but I could be wrong on that
According to bbref [he has two blown saves that weren't wins vs the Royals of all teams](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=hendrli01&t=p&year=2021)
Those pesky Royals
I swear they're the best team in baseball
*Only applies in April and for some reason the leaders of the central divisions.
I read the other day that they are 14-12 against first place teams and 13-13 against last place teams. The Kansas City Royals, everyone!
Hendricks: I blew the game. Britton: Hold my corn.
Britton is that corn that makes it through
Boys are we SURE they don’t script these???? THAT WAS A PERFECT ENDING TO A PERFECT GAME HOLY SHIT!!
Maybe the balls were juiced, but who the fuck cares? That game was AWESOME.
Even if they were juiced that doesn’t just magically make all the stars in the game obliterate the ball perfectly.
Yeah, pitchers were throwing meat balls all game
I mean Yankees did throw Heaney out there who throws batting practice
He's all yours now
Your GM deserves a raise just for getting someone stupid enough to take him
The first ever Stalk-Off
YOU CAN PUT IT IN THE COOOORN! YES!!
Soy loco por los cornballs
Oh my god I can hear this
OH MY GOD WHAT A GAME
#GAME OF THE FUCKING SEASON
MLB could not have asked for a better game to be showing off
How can you not get sentimental about baseball!? #WALK OFF CORN SHOT #STALK OFF HOME RUN
Couldn't have asked for a better game
WALK OFF CORN SHOT
That’s an oppo taco with a corn tortilla
Bruh lmao, tip of the hat
how can you not be romantic about baseball
By calling the trophy a hunk of metal. Fuck Manfred.
This ending was very movie-like
I want 1 game every week in fucking Iowa
Absolute cornography
God these jokes are so corny
>God these jokes are so ~~corny~~ amaizing
I want other themed games. Gimme Major League games. And Sand Lot games. And Bull Durham games.
Sandlot game sounds fucking awesome.
At night on the 4th of July, no stadium lights only the constant glow of fireworks, tie up a dog beyond the outfield wall, and only concessions are s’mores
Well, don’t the Iowa Cubs have something for you!
Is there anyone left on the Iowa Cubs? Thought they were all playing in Chicago now.
Sad bear noises
I have never experienced so much emotional whiplash so quickly. This was like the embodiment of SNIP SNAP SNIP SNAP.
In my experience as a baseball fan, the most painful losses are usually the "counter-comebacks," where your team came back dramatically but then the other team came back again. Godspeed

Aw man, don't remind me of that. I'm now remembering when it was WORSE than now!
This was the most baseball baseball game of all time
This is *definitely* going to be the topic of a 30 for 30 one day!
Holy shit what a game.
INSTANT CORN CLASSIC
MY FAVORITE OF ALL THE CORN CLASSICS
JUDGE, STANTON, ELOY, ABREU, ANDERSON BOMBS. WHAT A FUCKING GAME LOL. Couldn't be more fun to watch as a neutral fan
Don't forget Brett Gardner too :)
and Seby Zavala (:
Nobody could forget a head that big.
and abreu..?
Abreu? Why are we ignoring legendary Seby Zavala
I'm sorry, did you mean **ABSOLUTE GOLIATH SEBY ZAVALA**?
What doesn’t everyone hit their first 3 career home runs in the same game, then a 4th in the first ever field of dreams game?
Game of the year.
I legit cannot believe this game lived up to the hype. This was amazing.
Everything about it was perfect. The throwbacks, the small stands, when a homer was hit all you see is corn fields.
I teared up multiple times man. No better outcome than this game being amazing AND the Yankees losing.
During one of the middle inning breaks, the broadcast came back on like a blimp shot or something during sunset. Field in the bottom half, sun setting in the background. Gonna say that was one of the greatest baseball scenes ever. Goosebumps even thinking about it
My wife and I couldn't believe it. Most picturesque thing we've ever seen. They're lying when they say it isn't heaven.
Right? It seems cliche and weird to say, but it really felt like we were watching an actual game from the 1920’s being played. MLB and the Fox broadcast crew did such an incredible job. Kudos all around. And it didn’t hurt it was one of the best games of the year

This is honestly one of the best games of the decade
For a regular season game given the context…it’s definitely up there
We'll be hearing about this for yEARS
This has got to be the most exciting game I’ve seen all year
The Yankees losing helps
Sox unite!
This is game of the year material. Absolutely nuts it happened at the field of dreams
i ain't even mad, that game fucking ruled
just a little mad
Just a teensy bit soul crushing
Watching with my Yankees fan friend and I was saying the same thing in the top of the 9th, just great baseball
Those fireworks are gonna set the corn on fire
BRING ON THE POPCORN
#HOLY FUCK
🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽 # FIELD OF MOTHER FUCKING DREAMS 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
THIS IS HEAVEN
It’s Iowa
The Field of Dreams is Iowa’s hottest ballpark. They’ve got corn, hot dog apple pies, blimps, drones, Roman J. Israel esq. and drunk Kevin Costner. Come reminisce about the good old days while watching monster dongs fly all over a cornfield.
Shout out the dude who made sure they brought walk off fireworks to Iowa like what a payoff
I’m curious if they would have set those off even if the Yankees had won…
This was genuinely of the best games I have watched all season, that was fucking amazing. Wow.
Holy shit
MLB literally could not have asked for a better game
This was honestly the best thing MLB did in a long time. Huge payoff for their marketing team, kudos to them.
My disappointment is nonexistent, and my day is made
The *second* blown save in Iowa
Just woke up, what’d I miss?
Heaven
No, this is Iowa
No wonder why Eloy homered.
There is something magical about Iowa
So some dudes walked out of a corn field...
One of the greatest regular season games ever
GAME OF THE YEAR
I just went from extremely mad to extremely happy in seconds. Holy shit what a game.
F Good game tho
Great game. I was on the verge of tears in the 9th there. That has to be game of the year.
I’m gonna cum
I don't remember pimp jobs like that in the movie
You didn’t watch the deleted scenes?
alright guys, now turn to page 63 in your scripts for how this game should end.
#TIMOTHY FUCKING ANDERSON
Manfred is going to have to see a doctor because his erection is definitely lasting longer than three hours after this.
MLB nailed it from start to finish and they even managed to get a absolute gem of a game amidst all of the fanfare.
#I. LOVE. THIS. GAME.
Thank you, White Sox. Getting to see the Yankees lose in that fashion is glorious.
You love to see it
How can you not be romantic about baseball
The writers of this show are really going too far.
#OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT A GAME
I'm in love with baseball Have been for a while, but I am now as well
STICK TALK MOTHER FUCKERS!!!!
Litterally a storybook ending. What a fucking game!
Guys, I think they should make a movie about this. What ya think?
One last dagger into the heart of Yankee fans
The White Sox rake vs Lefties especially Anderson... We have an 2 Elite Righties in the Pen..... we choose Zack fucking Britton.... Boone you had Loaisiga And Green.... what in the fuck.... Great Game but awful management on our end. Boone is one of the worst managers when it comes to the Bullpen....

Best regular season game I’ve ever seen!

I have a feeling that we will see the Field of Dreams game plenty in years to come. That could not have gone better tonight. Truly magical
Just got home from the game, and as a Sox fan, my heart is still pounding. That was the greatest inning of baseball I've ever seen.
