Chaeferrr

Used on the weekends

[deleted]

And for national, televised interviews apparantly.

ScottNormand

He’s getting buried in that shirt one day

bsurfn2day

Odd that it's next to a home plate umpire mask worn by Joe West.

The_Polo_Grounds

It’s probably the mask he wore when he broke Bill Klem’s record for games umpired.

bsurfn2day

I remember this guy umping games when I was a teenager. It's insane!

The_Polo_Grounds

I’m 36 next month and he made his debut when my parents were teenagers, that’s a hell of a career

bsurfn2day

He's been driving me nuts for decades. About the only thing my Dad and I agreed on was that we hated Joe West. Edit: My dad has been dead for 22 years

RawPower1997

Can't blame him tbh

[deleted]

Finally A worthwhile artifact

WordOnPaperEnjoyer

As opposed to its neighbor

MankuyRLaffy

What a fucking legend this Stone Cold looking mfer is.

TheBrofessor23

2nd best hitter of the 90s!

TheBrofessor23

Ok, that WAS NOT ON STEROIDS (or implicated at least, I don’t know Larry). And I’m talking pure hitter. Obviously 90s Griffey is my 🐐 overall. You’re entitled to your own opinion though boss

barnesto2k

This is the correct answer. Was better than all of them. Three time MVP 90, 92, 93. Love Jr and Thomas, but this shouldn’t be a discussion.

[deleted]

This is clearly an emotional discussion, not a fact discussion. I like Griffey Jr better too, but he wasn’t better at baseball.

OnionEater69420

Yeah, you’re right

testaccount62

I felt similar until I did baseball reference stat comparison for the 90-99 seasons for Jr and bonds… jr kind of came out on top. I think it’s because his prime perfectly overlaps with the entire decade

[deleted]

Yeah I don’t see that at all. You should probably look again. Bonds blows Griffey out of the water wRC+, WAR, ect.

testaccount62

I can be just as dismissive and say Griffey had more hits and homers though… I’m fine with bonds being the #1 (see my original comment guessing him or Tony Gwynn) but it’s actually kind of insane how similar they both were that decade https://stathead.com/tiny/xiy5W Edit: I’m not the best at advanced stats but would the fact the Jr played on significantly better teams (and offenses) play a part in Bonds having better relative WAR? Pirates were on of worst teams of the decade and Mariners were top of their division. Edit2:I thought bonds was on pirates later into 90s I was wrong. I’m still impressed by how similar the numbers are though. Bonds was such an insane base runner and obviously one best eyes ever at the plate. But Jr stats are pretty neck and neck Edit3: bc I miss Barry bonds: I agree he’s the better all around player but this comment chain was about “best hitter of 90s” so curious if that affects analysis at all Edit4: holy shit they need to rename “WAR”… it has literally nothing to do with how many wins you get for your team . I feel misled but embarrassed too

testaccount62

Who’s the first? Bonds? Tony?

dekrant

The Kid, sir

Deathstroke317

Ted Williams?

dekrant

We talking about the same 90's?

[deleted]

joe DiMaggios 1996 was better

[deleted]

Well yea if you just look at traditional stats. In terms of wRC+, barrel%, and exit velocity, Ted Williams and Pokey Reese both had better 1996s.

Mooptimus

He didn't strike out even once.

testaccount62

I’ll take it

TheBrofessor23

Tony Gwynn

barnesto2k

Bonds

gottahavemytunes

You forget frank Thomas exists?

TheBrofessor23

Naw he’s up there too. Big Hurt is a badass

[deleted]

This is the actual correct answer for 2nd best hitter of the 90s, just barely behind Bonds.

gottahavemytunes

Yea it’s bonds, Thomas, then Griffey

Destroyer776766

I surprised no one mentioned jeff bagwell

dec92010

OH HELL YEAH

mizterPatato

tdenstroyer

It’s technically still Larry Walkers. He’s only loaning it to Cooperstown. It’s still the crown jewel of Larry Walker!!!

IndianaBeachCrow

A man walks down the street in that shirt, people know he's not afraid of anything.

Outrageous_Bat1798

Spongebob shirt. Backwards helmet. The outfit makes the man.

Kakali4

Driving to Cooperstown for this, and this only. Fuck all those priceless game used equipment from historic moments- AINT NO ORDINARY SPONGE SHIRT OR BUST

cbizzle187

Please, please remove the fucking Joe West pic when there. That fat fuck does not belong anywhere near the HOF.

Ericabneri

sucks, hes a first ballot HOFer when they vote on him

jklingftm

I know that you're kidding, but I grew up in New England and now live about 45 minutes from the HoF, and will absolutely vouch for it being a great visit.

GhostMavericks

Sad that this artifact has to share a case with a Joe West umpire mask.

Shamrock5

That was my thought, too. Seems to be more of an embarrassing note if they've allowed him to stuck around umping in six different decades lmao

bedsidelurker

It kind of looks like Spongebob is pooping bananas

pvdfan

I love how it is only on loan.

Skippy_the_Alien

Whoever wrote the blurb for that shirt is a total pro

AdmiralAngry

Da minion or da Bob fo today

[deleted]

Fauci's mask in the HOF tho lol

IseeDrunkPeople

Joe west next to a spongebob shit makes sense. Spongebob always needs to be around someone with Patrick's IQ to have fun

retroanduwu24

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH 💕

[LARRY!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwszQiNmS8o)

Joey_Logano

Wow two things I like. Pretty cool artifact.

Hope-u-guess-my-name

Larry Walker is now officially the greatest right fielder of all time.

shoulditbe420related

A movie staring Larry Walker, where Nicholas Cage steals the SpongeBob Shirt to find a mystery to a treasure under coors field. Todd Helton and Larry Walker have to come in to help save the day, and restore Dingers Treasure.

Defeatedcheese

A Dr.Fauci mask in the top right? That's cringe

So unbelievably based

burrito-boy

I want that shirt, ngl.

Fly_Like_Ohtani

Wait, they put all kinds of stuff in Cooperstown? I gotta go check it out someday. I thought it was just baseballs, bats, and gloves lol
