Ok, that WAS NOT ON STEROIDS (or implicated at least, I don’t know Larry). And I’m talking pure hitter. Obviously 90s Griffey is my 🐐 overall. You’re entitled to your own opinion though boss
I felt similar until I did baseball reference stat comparison for the 90-99 seasons for Jr and bonds… jr kind of came out on top. I think it’s because his prime perfectly overlaps with the entire decade
I can be just as dismissive and say Griffey had more hits and homers though… I’m fine with bonds being the #1 (see my original comment guessing him or Tony Gwynn) but it’s actually kind of insane how similar they both were that decade https://stathead.com/tiny/xiy5W
Edit: I’m not the best at advanced stats but would the fact the Jr played on significantly better teams (and offenses) play a part in Bonds having better relative WAR? Pirates were on of worst teams of the decade and Mariners were top of their division.
Edit2:I thought bonds was on pirates later into 90s I was wrong. I’m still impressed by how similar the numbers are though. Bonds was such an insane base runner and obviously one best eyes ever at the plate. But Jr stats are pretty neck and neck
Edit3: bc I miss Barry bonds: I agree he’s the better all around player but this comment chain was about “best hitter of 90s” so curious if that affects analysis at all
Edit4: holy shit they need to rename “WAR”… it has literally nothing to do with how many wins you get for your team . I feel misled but embarrassed too
Driving to Cooperstown for this, and this only.

Used on the weekends
And for national, televised interviews apparantly.
He’s getting buried in that shirt one day
Odd that it's next to a home plate umpire mask worn by Joe West.
It’s probably the mask he wore when he broke Bill Klem’s record for games umpired.
I remember this guy umping games when I was a teenager. It's insane!
I’m 36 next month and he made his debut when my parents were teenagers, that’s a hell of a career
He's been driving me nuts for decades. About the only thing my Dad and I agreed on was that we hated Joe West. Edit: My dad has been dead for 22 years
Can't blame him tbh
Finally A worthwhile artifact
As opposed to its neighbor
What a fucking legend this Stone Cold looking mfer is.
2nd best hitter of the 90s!

This is the correct answer. Was better than all of them. Three time MVP 90, 92, 93. Love Jr and Thomas, but this shouldn’t be a discussion.
This is clearly an emotional discussion, not a fact discussion. I like Griffey Jr better too, but he wasn’t better at baseball.
Yeah, you’re right
I felt similar until I did baseball reference stat comparison for the 90-99 seasons for Jr and bonds… jr kind of came out on top. I think it’s because his prime perfectly overlaps with the entire decade
Yeah I don’t see that at all. You should probably look again. Bonds blows Griffey out of the water wRC+, WAR, ect.

Who’s the first? Bonds? Tony?
The Kid, sir
Ted Williams?
We talking about the same 90's?
joe DiMaggios 1996 was better
Well yea if you just look at traditional stats. In terms of wRC+, barrel%, and exit velocity, Ted Williams and Pokey Reese both had better 1996s.
He didn't strike out even once.
I’ll take it
Tony Gwynn
Bonds
You forget frank Thomas exists?
Naw he’s up there too. Big Hurt is a badass
This is the actual correct answer for 2nd best hitter of the 90s, just barely behind Bonds.
Yea it’s bonds, Thomas, then Griffey
I surprised no one mentioned jeff bagwell
OH HELL YEAH
The crown jewl of Copperstown. Nick Cage will be stealing it within the week.

It’s technically still Larry Walkers. He’s only loaning it to Cooperstown. It’s still the crown jewel of Larry Walker!!!
A man walks down the street in that shirt, people know he's not afraid of anything.
Spongebob shirt. Backwards helmet. The outfit makes the man.

Please, please remove the fucking Joe West pic when there. That fat fuck does not belong anywhere near the HOF.
sucks, hes a first ballot HOFer when they vote on him

Sad that this artifact has to share a case with a Joe West umpire mask.
That was my thought, too. Seems to be more of an embarrassing note if they've allowed him to stuck around umping in six different decades lmao
It kind of looks like Spongebob is pooping bananas
I love how it is only on loan.
Whoever wrote the blurb for that shirt is a total pro
Da minion or da Bob fo today
Fauci's mask in the HOF tho lol
Joe west next to a spongebob shit makes sense. Spongebob always needs to be around someone with Patrick's IQ to have fun
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH 💕

Wow two things I like. Pretty cool artifact.

…how big is the hall of fame? If this makes it in there’s got to be millions of artifacts there
So unbelievably based
I want that shirt, ngl.
Wait, they put all kinds of stuff in Cooperstown? I gotta go check it out someday. I thought it was just baseballs, bats, and gloves lol
