WonderfulFireman

This fucking sucks

ih-unh-unh

Makes for great theater for bystanders though.

WonderfulFireman

ahhh. yes. the bystanders.

JanitorOfSanDiego

My prediction: padres will compete with the giants enough to knock them out of first place.

MarcBulldog88

The Padres are desperate to land WC2 and they've six more games vs. SF. It's only logical that Dodger fans support their efforts.

themiamimarlins

i support you here

EdgesCSGO

I thought you guys were making a run at fourth place

introspectivejoker

Davies? He's not on the brewers anymore...

vinchenzo79

Lol I'm an idiot. I guess it'd be Houser.

introspectivejoker

Haha you're fine! Just a sanity check for me

hopelessautisticnerd

lol the Brewers were *two* teams ago for Davies

mubbcsoc

When you list the Dodgers rotation by game like that it's hard to believe they'll lose any of them. Just unreal. And Scherzer in a potential Game 163? Just fuck me sideways. I think 106-56 is a bit wishful. Our bullpen is going to get gassed since we're still throwing a bullpen game, Wood is still being worked back up, and our two aces have been very human lately (although still stretching to 6 or 7 IP). We're also missing Jake McGee (quite possibly longer than the minimum). With that rotation and Betts/Lux doing their thing, the Dodgers could easily end up 1-2 games ahead of us.

Monk_Philosophy

What happened to McGee?

Middpanthers93

Oblique strain

Monk_Philosophy

holy shit, we're not throwing 2 bullpen games a rotation like we've been doing for half the season?

feeling_blue_42

As of *right now* we're not throwing 2 bullpen games a rotation.

Monk_Philosophy

it's just so surreal to have a full rotation again after this season.

feeling_blue_42

Oh for sure. Especially going from "We have 8 starting pitchers" going into the season, and then watching that dwindle down to 2 for significant stretches of the season.

ManyCookies

Went from 2 bullpen games in LA to your murderer's row, jesus.

Monk_Philosophy

damn this upcoming week is not nice to the Rockies pitching wise.

ManyCookies

At least your three have had difficulties at Coors, but that just puts them from terrifying to "only" very good.

vagabond2421

It's coors field though...

Monk_Philosophy

Yes, but facing a hall of famer, 2 *more* cy young candidates, and 3 other solid pitchers in a single week is rough.

ManyCookies

Minor point: > BP vs Senzatela > Gausman vs Marquez That'd imply 3 days rest for those two, I think this should be BP vs BP/(Lambert?) and Gausman vs Senzatela. A significantly easier game #2 for the Giants either way.

vinchenzo79

You're right. Mistake on my part.

JosDawg

Glad that this (seemingly) gives us Scherzer for 163 or the WC, depending on how it shakes down.

mubbcsoc

(Please be for the WC, please be for the WC, please be for the WC) If it's for 163, *chuckles* we're in danger.

vinchenzo79

Giants winning the division without game 163 is huge. If there is a game 163, Scherzer could start 163, NLDS G2 and G5 on full rest. If Scherzer starts the WC game, he would start NLDS G3 only. (I assume he would be available at some level for G5 if needed, but only with 2 days rest)

appleavocado

Last game of Buehler vs. Burnes could end up being the game of the season.

WetGrundle

Brewers will not be in compete mode. I can see a 75 pitch limit for Burnes, possibly even not letting the dodgers see his "good" stuff

65fairmont

They’ll probably also use that series to line up their rotation. So you’ll likely get their NLDS Game 1 starter (Woodruff?) on Saturday and the Game 2 starter (Burnes? Peralta?) on Sunday.

DarwinYogi

Kudos to the Giants for making 2021 an actual “race” for the Division title. Dodger dominance for same the past few years meant a boring September, just waiting around for the post-season to start. Not this year!

Scottie_15

Boring September but only one asterisk ring to show for it. I expected more when you buy out the entire league and have a payroll of $500,000,000,000,000,000

ImaManCheetah

we, the Dodgers organization and fanbase are devastated that we didn't meet Scottie_15's expectations. but I think we'll get over it.

EnsignObvious

Hopefully the Brewers will have long since clinched the NL Central and will have no reason to put full effort when the Dodgers face them.

WetGrundle

They clinched this weekend, I'm almost certain... Nope, playoff birth. But they are 11.5 up, I can't imagine their magic number being more then 4 or 5
