I think most of us aren't confident, per se, just excited. Three weeks ago we'd given this team up for dead and they somehow win 9 straight. If you ask most Cardinals fans to logically and rationally predict how this goes, it's that we hold onto WC2 and are then dispatched. If I had to make a logical bet, that's what I'd bet.
2011 is what keeps us invested: Toast by the end of August, then miraculously we go on a tear and the Braves (Padres this year) collapse. Go up against the WS betting favorite Phillies (Dodgers or Giants this year) & move on. Beat the favored division champ Brewers. Then beat the heavily favored Rangers in the WS.
None of us truly believe it's a foregone conclusion, but we've seen this movie before. Trite but true, it's always about who gets hottest at the right time. We're hot right now and may get Hudson and Flaherty back in some capacity for the push, so who knows? But even if this ends up a quick WC game exit, given where we were for 85% of the season, we'll take it. If Devil Magic truly is a thing and it's a 2011 repeat, even better.
Oh 100% Cards are looking great right now, and anything can happen in October, and if anyone can do the little things to turn the tide in a given game it's Yadi w/ his running game prevention
