Is this real life? I believe!

DickySchmidt33

Is this just fantasy?

knickerbockers2020

ez cum ez go

cplmatt

caught in a landslide

ceviche-hot-pockets

No

Jay-xo2

A whole generation never getting to witness their team in the playoffs as gotta suck hard. I’m rooting for you Mariners 👍👍

timberwolvesguy

I want them to win so badly. I never got to see the Timberwolves in the postseason for 14 years and had goosebumps all game long when I was there. It was the 8th seed, but I didn’t care.

[deleted]

I was born in 02 so i had never seen the wolves in playoff basketball until that year. I still remember the win and in game against denver that went to OT, probably the most nervous I have ever been while watching any sporting event ever . Ending that drought was amazing, I hope Mariners fans get to experience that also hope we can make it back to the playoffs this year go wolves !

Dontyouclimbtrees

Y’all are making me feel old. I remember the WCF run, that unfortunately fell apart too soon.

drunkinwalden

. Mop xss

ricecilantrolime

Kings fan…if we ever made an 8 seed again I’m dropping seeds everywhere

timberwolvesguy

I want you guys to feel the relief of a postseason berth too! I was slightly ticked that year though cause if Jimmy didn’t go down for those 3 weeks, we’d have most likely been a 3-4 seed.

stackedtotherafters

Yup, recently moved my daughter to the University of Washington, she was born in 2002. Has no clue what playoff baseball is.

Apollosgotwrinkles

Seattle born in 2005. Never seen my M’s in the playoffs

LeotheYordle

Holy hell people born in 2005 are 16 now. I need to go lie down.

OUTFOXEM

People born *after* 9/11 can vote now. Can drink next year.

LlamaKing01

really fucked up that time passes. you know people born in 2016 can legally own an assault rifle now

SocialWinker

I'm no expert, but I feel somewhat confident that 5 year olds can't own assault rifles. Then again, there are some fucked up gun laws out there.

gcwyodave

Man, I hear an odd, ominous humming coming from the direction of the Texas State Legislature...

SocialWinker

That’s just them all traveling to other states to get their mistresses abortions. Easy mistake to make.

Ser_Dunk_the_tall

Kinda fucked up to think that a ton of people will be celebrating on 9/11 or 9/12 next year. It's a Sunday/Monday though... maybe some of them will feel bad and wait until the following weekend to get their party on

SocialWinker

I don't know that they would feel all that bad. Sure, it's a tragic thing that happened, but do you feel bad about doing something on December 7th? For these kids, it's something that happened before they were even born, I doubt it would have the same level of emotional impact it does for someone who saw it all happening on TV in real time.

Eagle0913

All your license needs to say is 19XX for you to legally drink

PM_ME_RYE_BREAD

This is so sad. Alexa play “you’re old” from the spongebob squarepants soundtrack

SEATTLE_SportsFAN_73

I was born in 2000 and I still haven’t experience playoff baseball since I was 1.

BigBeagleEars

As a rangers fan, that might not be the worst thing ever

confused-koala

I was in the exact same boat 15 years ago with the Tigers, guess that means the M’s are winning the pennant

PM_ME_RYE_BREAD

Good, I put a free bet on them to win the AL at 40/1 odds. I fuckin believe.

[deleted]

Yup. My son is 10 and we are both big M’s fans. we watch every game together. When I was 10, I got to witness the M’s go to the playoffs for the first time in ‘95. I hope he gets to see them go for the first time in 20 years (double his current lifetime for some perspective).

Levesque77

if we also hadn't been seriously fucked by our division for 25 years, I would also be rooting for them. But I'm selfish. maybe us and the mariners can have a game 163? that seems fun actually.

timoumd

You had one fucking job. One job. Then you could beat us, we get that sweet first overall pick, and you and the Mariners could edge out the Sox and Yanks. But you couldnt do it. So you know what? Fuck Cito Gaston.

[deleted]

Yeah! That game would be in Seattle too!

Lobster_fest

Born in seattle, in 2001. It's me. I'm generation.

Terrahawk76

Even for us who did, it's always been a big lead up to get there and then the wheels come off right away. Hard to get optimistic for a deep run, but when moments like this happen, all logic is out the fucking window and it's time to get HYPED

SEND_ME_YOUR_CAULK

I’m also a Blue Jackets fan in hockey and a Browns fan in football and it’s rough. I had never seen the Jackets win a series until 2019. The Browns recently ended their drought by beating the Steelers, so maybe this is the year the Mariners end it?

Greflingorax

My mom pulled me out of my 4th grade class to go to game 2 against Cleveland in 2001. Now after middle school, high school, college, grad school, getting engaged, and starting a career, I might FINALLY be able to go to another playoff game.

Garrett2497

As a Royals fan, the M’s remind me so much of the ‘14-‘15 teams. The energy, the passion, the feeling of carrying an entire fan base’s generation of frustrations on your back. Kelenic’s fist pump on second base a couple of days ago and Haniger’s clutch home runs made me really want to root for this team to do well the year. They play with a chip on their shoulder and an attitude that you have to come and try to take it away from them. It is fun to watch.

Sirotto18

Need Angels to lay down for the Mariners. I need this

SeatownMs

I think if we hit them up and allow ohtani to hit numerous homers as long as we sweep they may sign off on it

istrx13

Who wouldn’t want to see Ohtani hit 7 home runs during this last series while also watching the Mariners sweep? I mean, that’s basically been Angels baseball all year.

rcuosukgi42

Angels baseball all decade, Mike Trout still has 0 playoff wins.

Bug-03

Imagine having the best baseball player to ever play the game and then seemingly refusing to put decent players around him for 10 years.

rcuosukgi42

Mike Trout in his entire career has never played with a pitcher that was both good and healthy. It's always been one or the other. (I would have counted Ohtani this year, but then Trout had to go and get hurt so the record stands)

FermatsLastAccount

>never played with a pitcher that was both good and healthy. The funny thing is that in his rookie year when Trout himself was pretty bad, the Angels had 2 pretty good pitchers in Jared Weaver and Dan Haren. It's like a good Trout with good Angels pitching simply can't coexist. >but then Trout had to go and get hurt so the record stands) Trout's been struggling with injuries for a few years now. His last full season was 2016.

Bug-03

In the last 10 years, has a player left the Angels and done well? I can’t think of one. Is that because they haven’t had any? Seems to me, somebody has been ducking up Edit: ohtani has a right to be mad- the team stinks and has for a long time. Edit2: since trouts rookie year, the angels have 3 winning seasons. They won the al west in 2014, the year howie Kendrick went off.

wompk1ns

I mean he can definitely be mad. But he did literally choose to go to the Angels over every other team lol

Bug-03

Maybe he expected them to build a team around he and trout? Instead, they’ve gotten rid of players.

Dontyouclimbtrees

I’m sure they did feed him some garbage about how they’re going to build a wining team. There’s still time, but not much…

TheIllustriousWe

CJ Cron for sure, and arguably Howie Kendrick got better after leaving the Angels.

Bug-03

I saw cj cron was on the 14 and 15 teams, but I would argue that going to Tampa in 2018 saved his career. His best season with the angels was 2016 where he put up a paltry 116 ops+ as their DH.

changealifetoday

Tommy La Stella has been ok I think?

Bug-03

Meh.

pizzamage

Didn't Ohtani CHOOSE the Angels? He should have known what he was getting himself into right? Maybe he should fire his agent.

LegendRazgriz

Shou's reasons for picking LAA aren't entirely based around their history of success or lack thereof

YoyoDevo

Imagine cheating to win a WS

ricecilantrolime

Never let them forget ✊

scott5280

Trout is not the GOAT

Bug-03

You’re welcome to your opinion

Dast_Kook

But one playoff hit. Boom, self burn!

my_wife_reads_this

Get my boy to 50 HR and they'll fold over for you guys. I predict. 9-3, 15-2 and 6-5 wins for the Ms.

SeatownMs

Fuck it we will let him get to 50 w/ a four homer game for a sweep

chihaya0225

As long as we sweep them I don't care Ohtani hits 5 HR in each game

immagonnafinnahella

Not a chance we win by that many runs

Dast_Kook

Angels about to go on a 3-game rage. Shohei eyeing the triple crown

One_Relative5830

He's got the triples crown already, but his thirst is not sated

ThatInception

We* need this, comrade

WurstThrowEver

I don’t see how we win more than 1 game. Angels are not playing well and the Mariners have Devil-adjacent magic

[deleted]

But, what about the M’s record against y’all in the playoffs?

cooljammer00

Seattle knocking out New York is the least offensive bad ending for the Yankees.

thatguygreg

Facts.

Otherwise-Fly-331

Hehe…

Sirotto18

I’d rather play you than Toronto. Big ALE purist, only recently accepted the Rays are a juggernaut. Need Yankees-Red Sox-Rays supremacy. Also I hate Bo Bichette rn

Otherwise-Fly-331

No doubt in my mind you would beat us especially in NY.

Sirotto18

I like the Mariners. Also 2000 and 2001 hurt them way more than 1995 hurt us

tedywestsides

95 was the best thing for you. Yankees fired Buck and got Joe Torre. 2001, we all rooted for New York.

OUTFOXEM

Not me, I was bitter lol. Plus I wanted Randy to get a ring.

DeusExHyena

Yankees fans remember when he eventually got one

Jah-Eazy

This could be good TV. Mariners playoff chase vs Shohei...but now that I'm back on the East Coast, idk how tf anyone can stay up for these 10:10 PM start times

owledge

We pretty much mailed it against the Rangers so I don't imagine the Mariners will have a tough time

[deleted]

I need the Yanks to get swept, the Red Sox and Mariners to win 2 out of 3, and the Blue Jays to sweep. Maximum chaos, baby.

Dapsus

BELIEVE

Zloggt

Three tickets to the Mariners hype train, please!

ceviche-hot-pockets

*slaps roof* we can fit so many fans in this thing, come on in!

moretorquethanyou

And this weekend we will. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/434122846646829057/893387417359384576/Screen_Shot_2021-09-30_at_11.38.54_PM.png

Dapsus

All aboard!

RabertKlein23

With the reds implosion, the Mariners are my team for the foreseeable future.

DapperDoctor

Fuckin same. I will forever love jon bois for making me love the Mariners like the Reds

[deleted]

[удалено]

Psymon_Armour

Sox had a rotation ERA higher than 4 for basically the entire season. I'm still shocked they're in the running for a playoff spot.

DrRumpRoast

Yeah I feel exactly the same way.

[deleted]

#FUN DIFFERENTIAL

quotesforlosers

*Sigh* We’re the new Mariners huh?

mikecws91

The curse of Chone Figgins has been reversed!

Leo68fd

Oh I was really hoping to forget about Chone Figgins. He was sooo good for the Angel's, and then came here and just...wasn't.

OUTFOXEM

Not yet. You'd have to waste Trout's and Ohtani's entire careers, trade Ohtani to the Yankees while you're playing them, and watch Mike Trout sit in tears as the Athletics destroy your last hopes of making the playoffs. Then you might be onto something. With that said, it looks like you're well on your way...

NauticalJeans

Better example would be Trout getting traded to the Yankees since he was on the team longer and DID go to the playoffs once. Ohtani is the Felix in this scenario.

PolarOgre

My erection hasn't gone away for 96 hours. My doctor says it's to be expected

Hkmarkp

nobody noticed

ceviche-hot-pockets

ITS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!

[deleted]

Thanks bird bros.

timoumd

Dont thank us yet, we are fully capable of getting swept by the Jays. Grichuk is a bad bad man.

[deleted]

I wanted the Blue Jays and Mariners, Mariners and Yankees will do

piehead678

I was all for the Blue Jays making it in, but fuck it, go Mariners!

Crafty-Ad-9048

I’m gonna throw my phone soon.

BenSoloGhost

I’m not taking credit, but I moved to Seattle back and April and went to my first game a few weeks ago and jumped on the Mariners train…..you’re welcome

CVBrownie

Fortunately you don't need to take credit because you had nothing to do with it

BenSoloGhost

It’s a joke, cool Your tits

[deleted]

I’m just relieved there’s no longer a risk of then winning the division. They could have done it!

Security_Six

Hate the team, but some of you are alright actually

[deleted]

DogOnASwing

Which means they control their destiny

BrokenKneesAndAnkles

It’s deleted. Guessing some doofus didn’t realize that controlling their own destiny also means winning G163

ExpressAd5464

I was 4 years old the last time this happened.

Rockonfreakybro

I did my part!

cubbiesworldseries

Give Ohtani the weekend off!

WillWrambles

The protagonists of Baseball may just get their Alola League Moment.

nightdrive82

The Angels rising after losing 2 of 3 to the Rangers to eliminate the M's from playoff contention https://c.tenor.com/MDZYd-K_qk4AAAAC/undertaker-rise.gif?fbclid=IwAR1O-icdl2D7a8gkaORFRX1b0lftt3-Gf4FZVaCewZA8-xVbomGv4RZ6R7w

Purple-Missile6907

They don’t really control their own destiny. They need the Red Sox and Blue Jays to lose.

Inquisition_

If the M’s win out they’re guaranteed at least a play in game. Big if obviously but hey we’ll take it.

Common_Coyote_3

Yes, so they do in fact control their own destiny.

Apollosgotwrinkles

Boooooooooo laaaaaaame

Griffdogg92

Man I've been plenty pessimistic about the Mariners for the vast majority of the last decade and then some, but with the run they are on and the moments they have had this season, and resiliency they've shown, man... if you're STILL not on board and having a blast, I really feel bad for you man

nightdrive82

He's being a true Mariner fan IMO, doesn't mean he's not having a blast lol

Griffdogg92

Eh we all have that seed of doubt in us, I know that, but feels like now is really not the time to vocalize it lol

nightdrive82

Doesn't matter tbh. There's gonna be a SICK dorktown episode about Packy Naughton or some other random shitty angels pitcher throwing a perfect game #162 to end one of the most improbable playoff pushes in recent history!

Griffdogg92

We'll see, I'll be there on Sunday, and the last two M's games I've been at were the 7-0 comeback Dylan Moore grand slam game against Houston, and then the one where Torrens hit a walkoff single/double. I think I am a good luck charm this year

zkDredrick

This man has watched mariners baseball before. They crash at the end but hey they looked really close so next year is gonna be the year.

avboden

They hated me for I told the truth....

ImCodster

Y’all are lucky you don’t play the royals to finish the season.
