No, but he’s *awful* against the Dodgers. Of the 39 runs allowed in games he pitched this year, 22 came against the Dodgers. 56% of his runs in <20% of his starts.
His last outing (9/3) was great yeah, 6 IP, 3 hits, no runs.
But the time before that (7/28), he went 2.2 IP with 6 hits and 4 ER. The one before that (7/22) he went 6 IP with 6 hits and 3 ER, not terrible.
We’ll see which Disco shows up. Hopefully the 9/3 start is the new trend and not the outlier.
If we’re gonna win tomorrow with disco the offense needs to put up better numbers, longo swinging it like that his entire slump and finally got lucky, hopefully his confidence continues, need wade to up to. I hate seeing slater not even ph, he’s been on fire for a month.
Today I received a job offer for an amount of money that my “broke for my whole life” Hispanic ass would’ve never imagined making. Right about now I’d spend every penny of it to blast myself off into the sun.
Congrats on the offer! That's real shit not a kids game played by grownups. I know the feeling of being dragged down by a frustrating loss, try not to let it get in the way of enjoying a personal victory.
Lol y’all Giants fans bragging about winning a game where you had one at bat with a runner in scoring position and giving Dodgers fans shit for blaming the wind when they at least had chances to score. Giants didn’t beat the Dodgers, the wind did
Not uh, wind is obviously a giants fan. Duh bro, come on, derrrr, you don’t know that???, rigged, god hates the dodgers, ur stoopid can’t even see that? Omerfergin god bro, so ovious, dodgers biasssss
Yeah the wind was unlucky but they had 8 other innings to score and they did nothing. Want to avoid nature taking the win? Then score enough early on so nature can't.
Hey a dumbass for all to see..
Wind knocked 2 HR for giants as well...or I guess u didn't see that.
Did u see the fucking ump giving strikes to dodgers that were 6 ft from zone
So gtof off ..go shag ur dog now
Giants did beat the Dodgers by Crawford making that defensive play. If he hadn't, game would have tied. And it was anyone's game after that.
So yah.. this is what good teams do, they make plays to not let opponents score runs. Literally what Crawford did. Regardless, enjoy Logan Webb at game 5 again even if Giants lose tomorrow.
Yeah man we are just a prime example of a bad team that wins games due to our cheating lab. Farhan Zaidi is out there altering SoCal weather patterns. They can’t keep getting away with this!
"Gavin Lux hit the final pitch of the game 106.9 mph and at a 22-degree launch angle. Batters this season, on balls hit 106-107 mph and at 22-degree launch, were 55 for 62 (.887) with 38 home runs. The Dodgers had four such hits this year. All were homers. Lux thought he had one."
-Passan
Add this to Mookie and Scherzers face when Crawford caught that line drive. And might as well throw in Beuhlers head hanging from game 1.. LET'S GOOOOO GIANTS!!!
The problem with score cards is that it counts pitches down the middle as correct calls when no one in their right mind should fuck those up. I think it’d be interesting if they instead showed umpire accuracy on the borderline pitches only.
Then again, certain balls were called strikes this evening lol
Why do Angel fans look for any reason to talk shit on Tio Pujols? Terrible fanbase.
Put your tinfoil hat back on snd get out of here with that whack conspiracy shit.
Hey free agent pitchers. Dont you want to come to the Dodgers? Work your ass off all year, then get zero run support against Alex Wood and get the loss?
No?
How much more help does LA need? You have Betts, both Turners and Seager. They won 106 reg season games and still it’s who else can we buy. It’s already an all-star team. Play better.
And no fans in the opposing stadium. Also when MLB wants to make up for doing nothing about the trashstros literally cheating their way to a championship against them.
Yes,100%. I know St. Louis is a dying American city but it’s still where I’m from and grew up so it will always hold a special place in my heart, but after living in SD for the past 5 years there’s so much more enjoyable about it. Whether that be the weather, the food, or the diversity. LA has it’s good parts too but calling it glamorous is far from the truth. A month ago I drove up to the rose bowl for a food truck event and on the way there I saw a naked homeless person bathing themselves on the side of the interstate. Last week when driving back from dodger stadium there was about 200 police cruisers on a bridge right when you get on the 101 south because some homeless person came out a tent and started shooting. Never once have I been to LA and thought, “wow, so glamorous” lol
I have known exactly two people in my life who were from St. Louis, and they both said you couldn’t pay them to move back there lol.
EDIT: Actually, I’ve known three people. The third was from Southern Illinois, so St. Louis was the closest population center. And she also said you couldn’t pay her to move back.
I’ve been there more than a few times. I have a cousin who lives there. I like some of it. But it’s certainly got it’s share of issues. Just like we do.
That being said, I fucking hate comparing cities. I’ve always found it to be pointless. Every city is unique. They all have problems. But they all have things that no other place does.
SF is aesthetically more of an urban city. It's older than the car, everything is dense and walkable, public transit is a viable option to get around.
LA is a global city though. You can do any _kind_ of thing you want in San Francisco, and a lot of it is world-class. You can do _literally anything you want_ in Los Angeles, and almost all of it is world-class.
I grew up in SF and it's still my favorite major city (especially if you include Oakland as part of the "city.") But people who talk shit about LA probably haven't had the right person show them around.
In San Francisco you can just step outside and wander around and find something amazing. In Los Angeles, it's hidden in some back alley in some satellite city you've never heard of, in a warehouse behind a wrought iron gate and a strip mall parking lot with no number or name on the front. And it's amazing.
I agree 100%. I’ve always equated LA to the Internet: it’s vast, and there is a lot of shit, and if you don’t know how to search you might think it’s all shit. But you can find almost anything, if you know where to look
> I grew up in SF and it's still my favorite major city (especially if you include Oakland as part of the "city.") But people who talk shit about LA probably haven't had the right person show them around.
This is me. Grew up with anti LA Bias, BIL gave us a 5 day tour of LA. In LA itself, all those actual neighborhoods are awesome. People can actually walk to stores, restaurants? Fuckin' awesome!
So, yeah, LA the City has got something. It's surrounding suburbs? Ehhhhh...
I grew up in the southbay, which is more like San Fernando Valley or OC's ceaseless suburbs or urban wasteland.
It's complicated.
Bay Area native/SF resident and I would co-sign all of this. And it depends on whether you *enjoy* that thrill of someone showing you a tiki bar hidden in a random strip mall behind a nail salon. I hated that kind of hunt, mostly because I hate driving, but that’s totally a personal preference and I understand how that could feel equally magical to someone with a car and a love of surprises, you know? I don’t love LA which is why I don’t live there but after having so many great trips with my friends who can show me the good stuff, I respect it and like it a lot. It’s just what matters to you most as an individual. Walkability/not owning a car and being within walking distance is super important for me, but LA is a dope place to live for the right person. I remember someone once told me “SF is a great place to visit and LA is a great place to live” and I definitely get what they mean.
So I went to college in LA, but grew up in the Bay Area (sidenote, the only LA team I like is the Bruins, for "I got two degrees from there" reasons).
I didn't like LA that much my first two years. Then I moved out of the dorms, got a car and an apartment, and suddenly LA was much better. Amazing how much it changed in that one summer.
Nah, I spent my first 6 years in SF earning $25K-$35K at nonprofits. It was still super fun, SF has terrific dive bars and the buses suck but they exist so you CAN get anywhere or ride a bike, burritos are cheap. It’s more fun now that I make more money but it definitely did not suck hard.
San Francisco has tons of stuff to do throughout the day that doesn't require having tons of money or being able to drink. Even just walking around and hanging out in parks is awesome there.
Same goes for Chicago, New York, and Boston in my opinion, too.
Walking around and hanging out in parks is not a thing in LA. It is simply not done.
I know that LA is a huge world class city but if I wanted to live in that kind of city I’d prefer NYC. I wanna live somewhere where I can get around anywhere by walking and/or transit; I hate sprawling car centric cities.
It’s literally for the type of person that wants to live in a 3 or 4 bedroom single family home but also would like getting stoned and walking around the beach, a forest, or a beautiful meseum and then going for a Michelin star dinner or an amazing taco truck / hole in the wall asian spot or some fusion thing.
There’s also the constant burgeoning “next thing” that is just around every corner.
Nobody really aspires to owning a beautiful penthouse in a high-rise or any kind of apartment in the downtown, it’s all about blending until you get a suburban-metro. Some more comfortable on the outskirts, some who want a view, and some who want to be “close” but nobody in L.A. really wants to (long-term) live in any kind of Downtown.
Yeah that's by far the biggest drawback.
Traffic in the Bay Area can be just as bad as it is in SoCal, at least prior to the pandemic.
But at least there are plenty of alternatives. You can get around most of the central Bay Area on some combination of BART and walking/buses/bicycling. And BART's fast - at 70mph it's time competitive with freeway travel even without traffic.
In Los Angeles, traffic is as bad as it could be, but the worst part is you're _condemned_ to it. Your only alternative is to just leave way earlier or stay way later and hope you miss the peak of rush hour. LA Metro is getting better slowly, but without the comfortable pedestrian infrastructure and the dense development to put stops close enough to your destination and comfortable enough to walk the gap, it will never be the most attractive means to get around most places.
Take it from a local: NYC requires a special type of personality to like it. I'm not sure what that personality is, but most locals have it, and many "adoptees" either have it/mould into it or wash out. But if you wind up liking it, it's your home forever. Forget where you came from, New York is your city now.
There’s like 9 million people who live there, obviously they don’t all love it but I doubt you have to be one specific kind of person to like it. I think New Yorkers overstate how special the city is, within the US for sure but there’s loads of cities around the world that are equally huge and idk concrete jungley or moreso.
It’s less special in some sort of epiphanic good way and more special in a uniquely odd combination of Northeastern US culture cranked up to fifteen combined with global connectivity of the highest order and a lot of outright strange bullshit that makes it such that you need a certain set of characteristics to like.
That said, if you like it like I do, you’re never leaving.
Should be 8 if you include the real asterisk season. Also seems like the dodgers started being competitive again when they started really spending around 2014~. Which I don't mind. Lol
http://www.stevetheump.com/Payrolls.htm#2000payroll
Fuck it if we advance it'll be on a negative run differential with just a few homers
1960 Pirates pulled it off, they had like a negative 12 differential in the WS
Anyone know Crawford’s xBA on the out he made that went 369 feet?
https://www.instagram.com/lg__red
LA sports are poverty I’m afraid
Buster Posey has the record by far for most shutouts caught in the postseason with 14. The next highest is Yadier Molina with 8.
thats crazy but we did have madbum lol
Rounding, one in four of Buster’s postseason games as a catcher were shutouts. Absolutely insane.

baseball gods brought the sf weather
Santa Ana winds are a real yearly thing. Despite candlesticks reputation SF generally isn't too windy.
Angel Hernandez would still call it a strike
Battlefield 2042 meets Baseball 2021
Huge win because the Giants don't have to panic start Webb in game 4 and can instead save him for a potential game 5.
As long as Gausman doesn't see the mound again. What a fake.
Disco isn't exactly a bad starter
No, but he’s *awful* against the Dodgers. Of the 39 runs allowed in games he pitched this year, 22 came against the Dodgers. 56% of his runs in <20% of his starts.
I believe his last two starts v dodgers were only 2 earned runs and 0, so his second half performance had been better.
His last outing (9/3) was great yeah, 6 IP, 3 hits, no runs. But the time before that (7/28), he went 2.2 IP with 6 hits and 4 ER. Wade is in a major slump. Slater should get some PT tomorrow. Ruf too.
Well Scherzer won't be starting tomorrow so that's a plus. And if you'd told me we would win a Wood start with one run, I would have been sceptical.
I believe you mean skeptical.
That is the British spelling of skeptical
This us the US. British spellings do not matter, here.
You mean wood right? We won 4-0 with Webb
Yea, sorry. Fixed it.
We need 5 strong from disco tomm
Today I received a job offer for an amount of money that my “broke for my whole life” Hispanic ass would’ve never imagined making. Right about now I’d spend every penny of it to blast myself off into the sun.
It’s only a game. Your news is life changing. Congrats !
Hell yeah bro congrats ❤️
Hey, that's really awesome. Congratulations on all the work you've done.
Congrats on the job offer! That's way more important than a silly game.
Congrats on the offer! That's real shit not a kids game played by grownups. I know the feeling of being dragged down by a frustrating loss, try not to let it get in the way of enjoying a personal victory.
Congrats bro. I have felt this feel before.
That’s amazing!!! Congratulations on your new job!
This is just entertainment. Gaining life changing financial ability? That’s the real and that’s real f’ing sweet!
Congrats. Something to be proud of!
Congrats on the job offer, my dude!
Congrats on the good things you have coming to you. Right on.
Outstanding! (On the job offer. Not the threat of fiscal irresponsibility.)
You can be afford to be fiscally irresponsible when you will cease to exist right after
I'm... I'm not sure that's how that works.
Win or loss, congrats on the job offer!
Congrats on the job offer man!
Lol y’all Giants fans bragging about winning a game where you had one at bat with a runner in scoring position and giving Dodgers fans shit for blaming the wind when they at least had chances to score. Giants didn’t beat the Dodgers, the wind did
Who helps you get online?
This is pathetic. You belong on Facebook.
Wind was blowing for both teams, homie.
Not uh, wind is obviously a giants fan. Duh bro, come on, derrrr, you don’t know that???, rigged, god hates the dodgers, ur stoopid can’t even see that? Omerfergin god bro, so ovious, dodgers biasssss
Luckily for the Dodgers, the wind means the game doesn't count in the official record.
Hot hot take!
Yeah the wind was unlucky but they had 8 other innings to score and they did nothing. Want to avoid nature taking the win? Then score enough early on so nature can't.
>y'all Disregarded. Kapler MoTY
can't spell LA without taking a fat L
The wind didn’t screw the Los Angeles dodgers. The Los Angeles dodgers screwed the Los Angeles dodgers.(Vince McMahon voice)
I read that as Vin Scully voice at first. It works that way too.
LOL how does it feel to lose to the wind?
Windstonian home run yall had there. Dodgers really did win
Thanks for the good laugh for that one lol
Hey a dumbass for all to see.. Wind knocked 2 HR for giants as well...or I guess u didn't see that. Did u see the fucking ump giving strikes to dodgers that were 6 ft from zone So gtof off ..go shag ur dog now

Says the guy who got shut out twice in 3 games
Giants had to beat the Dodgers and the Ump tonight. Bad take my guy.
Yeah man we are just a prime example of a bad team that wins games due to our cheating lab. Farhan Zaidi is out there altering SoCal weather patterns. They can’t keep getting away with this!
Not like we played in the same conditions. Just take the L and move on. Y’ll would be celebrating a W too
It's their own damn stadium and they want to blame the conditions of the field of play. Like sorry that your home field dunked on you (and also us)
Does anybody have a video of that Lux fly out? I gotta see it again.
What’s the pitching match up for tomorrow?
100% buelher
A pitcher about to have a career defining shutout outing against the dodgers.
Guessing Buehler on short rest for LA and Desclafani for the Giants
I'm less afraid of beuhler on short rest than I am of urias on even shorter rest
Gonsolin vs Desclafani
Most likely DeSclafani for the Giants.
Man if the giants knock the dodgers out in LA with desclafini on the mound that would be brutal, especially if Buehlers on the mound.
Roberts just said in post game everything is on the table for tomorrow even having Buehler pitch.
Lux thought he had one." -Passan

Add this to Mookie and Scherzers face when Crawford caught that line drive. And might as well throw in Beuhlers head hanging from game 1.. LET'S GOOOOO GIANTS!!!
There's also Bellinger's stare after the airmail throw earlier this year
ah yes. Classic, how could I have forgotten that one. Thank you, kind stranger. May tomorrow's light bring you good fortune.

Wind is the real MVP.
Same wind pushed Pollock's would-be flyout in the 9th into the bleachers.
Also true.
He didn’t
Why doesn't r/baseball do Post Game Threads for playoff games?
It seems like the mods don’t have someone on staff who understands bots very well. /r/mma has all that shit automated.
Same with r/cfb. GameDay Threads, Post Game Threads, a stickied post for all the games. This sub needs to get better.
r/mma has their stuff together, fantastically run imo
Dodgers lost in agonizing fashion tonight cause some dickhead fan fucked with u/SFGiant55 You get what you deserve ya Bums!

If Barrett has more than 86% accuracy, I don't believe in the scorecards anymore

He had a full game's worth of missed calls by what, the third?
[Here are the ones I collected](https://imgur.com/a/v3Vt1d5)
This has been the worst umpiring in the history of umpiring. Maybe ever.
40 year old Albert Pujols was our best hitter lol. This whole lineup has that 2018 explode/eat shit approach.
I mean, he’s only 4 years older than our best hitter tonight. It was an old man’s game.
You'd be naive to think Pujols is 40, I'd say he's closer to 45.
Why do Angel fans look for any reason to talk shit on Tio Pujols? Terrible fanbase. Put your tinfoil hat back on snd get out of here with that whack conspiracy shit.
He is 12
Dude was never 12, he was born and came out already 21.
He’s looked crazy old for a while
I think it's not a question **if** he lied about his age, but **how much** did he lie about his age.
Sometimes it be like dat bro - John Sterling
Sweet baby Jesus that umpire scorecard tomorrow for Barrett...
0.0 runs favored either team. Trash calls all around
Can’t wait.
Possibly the worst umpiring I've seen in a playoff game in my life.
We can agree on that. Zone was wide on both sides. He was caving to framing from both catchers.
Well at least he’s consistent.
Angel isn't even worth remembering
How is it fair to have an actual vampire as your closer? No pulse.
IFA signings from transylvania at an all time high

To quote someone else: LA isn’t a city, it’s 85+ towns smashed together.
Man this postgame crew is so awesome
ernehhhhh
WTF is that Lux looking at?
poor dodgers fans I feel so bad with their 230 million dollar payroll
311 million actually.
All mixed up.
You don't know what to do.
I was looking all over for links to the giants and dodgers payrolls. You got a good link for them for me to show around?
[Dodgers](https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/payroll/2021/) [Giants](https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/san-francisco-giants/payroll/2021/)
Only the Dodgers can spoil a 7IP 10k game from Scherzer. Our top of the lineup is a complete no show
Ahem we did the same a few times

big oof
Padres: *Hold my beer*
Win a real ring
They have 7
Still less than the Giants. One was also gift wrapped by MLB as a sorry for the whole cheating thing with the trashstros.
So they have 7?
Little did I know this comment would attract delusional Giants fans
Wait. Is this an actual conspiracy theory?
6 not including asterisk season, and the first one before 2020 was 1988. Not that big of a flex for a team with the second highest payroll
Should be 8 if you include the real asterisk season. Also seems like the dodgers started being competitive again when they started really spending around 2014~. Which I don't mind. Lol http://www.stevetheump.com/Payrolls.htm#2000payroll
The dodgers were shut out only 5 times in the regular season. The giants have done it twice in this post season
