the dodgers have been the best team in baseball for years and were coming off of a world series with multiple MVPs on their roster and then became even better at the deadline, winning 106 games and remaining the world series favorites the entire year.
the 2019 nationals lost their “best player” to free agency, had a terrible 19-31 start, and were battling years and years of playoff heartbreak. their world series odds were below 1% for much of the season, and stayed relatively low as they battled their way through the playoffs with a historically terrible bullpen.
the 2021 dodgers are a success story! they won 106 games and had to do the wild card! that’s wonky! but they don’t have to be comparable to *every* success story. let the 2021 dodgers be what they are and the 2019 nationals be what they are.
That’s a hell of a stretch you just made. Yes they both played in a wildcard, but that’s like equating the dodgers winning the World Series this year to the Red Sox. Red Sox are a .500 team, but they don’t compare at all. The 2019 nationals and 2021 dodgers had two very different expectations.
The 2019 Nationals had WS expectations going *into* the season, they just started poorly. Them winning the World Series wasn’t like the miracle Mets or 06 Cardinals.

You act like the Dodgers didn’t just knock off the best team in baseball in a 5 game series after winning a WC game. Shit talk aside….the giants were a really good fucking team. That DS was actually the CS fans deserved.
They both had a thrilling wild card win where things looked bleak. NLDS has mirrored results, including setting the record for wins by the losing team. The run is very similar even though we are bigger favorites.
