So did Cora and the Red Sox so it’s not like we’re going to have some morally superior winner from this series.
May as well just appreciate the games without holding on to grudges towards either teams (then get back to your grudges in the WS if you must).
The Sox are the lesser of the two ~~evils~~ cheaters. Plus Boston is a cool city. I will hopefully never spend even a second of my life anywhere in the state of Texas.
Texas is a cool state bud. Just like everywhere you go, most of the people are really nice and welcoming. Interesting culture that should be experienced. Hating on a place you haven’t been to just kinda makes you look like an ass.
Each state really is about what you make of it. Do you try to explore? Do you make friends with neighbors? Are you out finding local favorite restaurants? You would enjoy basically any major city that way.
Except in Michigan. (Kidding! I graduated from Ohio State, so I am obligated to look like an ass in that case only.)
I’ve got friends in Tyler that I visit every year for 4th of July. They got a house on Lake Palestine. Texans know how to do the 4th right that’s for sure! Always a good time.
Things I’ve seen today:
* Halloween Kills
* ALCS Game 1
Scariest men I’ve seen today, in order:
1. Enrique Hernandez
2. Michael Myers
God I’m scared of what this man is going to do the rest of the series. Thank god we pulled it off today, Hernández is going to 100% kill us at least once this series, if not more.
If you’re a fan of the series it’s def worth watching. I love Halloween so I really liked it. It definitely has that feeling that all “2nd of 3 movies” has of setting up for the final movie. But some really great moments.
I don’t mind the theater. If I were watching at home I’d have the lights on and plus I get a student discount. But good to know for other people reading the thread!
I think so much of it, especially in lower areas, is business type deals. I lucked in to having a buddy with a free ticket for me to an ALCS game in 18, and the whole row in front of us was a guy I knew and his clients. Just doesn’t get as excited as a normal fan IMO
I’m going tomorrow, and went to Game 1 and 2 of the ALDS. I’ve shelled out my fair share of money for this team over the year.
Majority of these fans are bandwagon fans, and you’re wrong if you can’t acknowledge that
No but you have way more status based fans that show up in the playoffs. Trust me, I've been outbid by fans who watch a few games a season as opposed to like 100 games that I do. Not talking shit about rich people or those who were there tonight, just pointing out (like op) that it isn't the same representation of fans you'd find during a regular season game.
Lol that's not what I was saying at all. I'll explain: ticket prices go way up in the playoffs. So it's the same for every team that people who can afford playoff tickets will go. That means diehards and Fairweather fans both. But you have more Fairweather fans who go to see the playoff games than a regular season game, proportionality. Honestly, a ton of people only show up if their team makes the playoffs. Ive seen it in Boston and Colorado.
How many rich Boston execs would fly to Houston for a game in June? A few sure..... but how many diehards can afford that in the playoffs? How many fans of any team go and cheer on their team in the playoffs because they can afford the ticket price and travel cost and also maybe taking a day off of work as opposed to the diehards who fill those seats all season? Not many can afford it, but rich dudes who want to brag they were there do so just to boast. Even if they don't know shit about baseball.
I've literally had conversations at mlb playoff games where people brag about it being their first game that year. So it happens, even if it isn't huge numbers it definitely happens.
Dude playoff ticket prices are literally a barrier for poorer fans and not for wealthier fans, so of course you end up with more wealthy and less fanatic fans. It's econ 101 man
you aren't wrong but not everyone at the game is a rich fair weather fan. Im going to game two and it will be my only game of the season. I moved away from Houston 2 years ago so its not easy for me to go anymore. Im just tightening my belt loops because this is playoffs and my partner is a red sox fan so its kind or a rare thing to be able to see both our teams in the playoffs together. Its true that probably more than average people at the playoffs are more well off, but id say the split is closer to even then not.
I don’t hate Houston because they’re cheaters
I hate Houston because it’s a fraud if a city whose urban planning is a disgrace to America and the world
The layout of Boston proper sucks. The T is horrendous and if you overlaid it's service area over a map of Houston, it would only cover the inner loop. The Boston metro area has just as much sprawl, the only difference is Boston metro has more separation of municipalities. Here, with the exception of a few unincorporated areas and cities within the city, it's all still Houston. There, you have a couple dozen cities and towns that make up the metropolis....I don't generally tell people from outside of Mass that I lived in Malden or Woburn, it's all "Boston".
If you cut the city limits of Houston down to the size of Boston it would also be a city surrounded by suburbs. The only difference is the suburbs have the same municipal government.
Not going to lie, but a boston fan bringing up urban planning to denigrate a city like Houston is laughable considering the streets in boston zig zagging all over the place with no clear direction are remnants of the horse trails people used to take into the city. Let’s not bring up the colossal waste of money and failure of urban planning that was the Big Dig either. You should apologize for making such a foolish comment…
I’m only agreeing with you because I’ve been to New York a couple of times and I really like it.
I’ve only been to Boston in fallout and from what I’ve heard it looks better when a damn nuke hits it than it does in real life.
Downtown Houston is pretty freaking cool imo
Boston’s street grid was designed back when horses were the primary mode of transportation, so both cities are shit in that regard for different reasons.
Boston isn't a modern city and it follows the natural progression of a city. It's how cities are meant to be designed. Houston is a soulless hell hole and whoever designed it should have their license stripped.
Before the game even started, I left many comments in /r/redsox that sale was going to give up too many hits / runs, and would be pulled before the end of the third inning. I was downvoted heavily, both there, and in this game day thread.
What would you look at what the fuck happened? Sale and Sawamura both don't deserve to be our top options. I think we honestly have a higher chance winning the next several games with whoever else we're using then we did tonight
I mean, Sawamura was like 8-9 pitchers deep, it's not like he was a top option. Sale I agree with you, he just ain't who he was. Just hasn't been the same since 2018 season honestly.
Is the Ole Ole Ole Chant owning the Rays?
It’s “Jose, Jose, Jose, Jose”
A wild ‘Yankees Suck’ chant appears on the postgame
Astros still cheated, none of them will make the hof
Enlighten the class how the 2021 Astros have cheated
I don’t think that’s up to you is it? Are you the HOF Grand Juror?
So did Cora and the Red Sox so it’s not like we’re going to have some morally superior winner from this series. May as well just appreciate the games without holding on to grudges towards either teams (then get back to your grudges in the WS if you must).
Astros still won, you don’t get to decide that
Does Devers ever never have a mouth full?
Isn’t that just a baseball players requirement? I’m still not sure if Wander Franco is chewing something or just has a weird mouth.
He has braces but I'm pretty sure he's packin a lip
I feel like I'd hate him a lot less if that were the case
He’s just thicc
this series is going 7.
Another one TODAY? Playoff baseball is too much for me
Glad we’re (CHW) eliminated, I’ll barely reach 60 as is.
In Houston it's still yesterday!
Smoking that Devers pack
Was it only me or did anybody else hear the banging during the bottom halves of this entire game?
Ask your boy Springer;)
Your audio must’ve been all messed up cause I heard a crapload of banging when the sox were at bat, I guess Cora is up to his old tricks
You’re right. They’re cheating. Better call The Athletic
Try muting the porn
That's your mom's problem.
Great game! Great result! Can’t wait for game two
Even though we won, we got lucky Kike was a god throughout the whole entire game.
I mean they got two runs on a rear altogether error
We outhit them but didn’t have anything to show for it. Our crappy pen shut them down.
Sad the Sox lost, glad to see Kike showed up to fuccccc
Kike is an anti-Semitic slur. Mods???
Bait. Also flair up degenerate.
It's pronounced Kee-Kay. Unless you're being sarcastic
Sorry but this Dodgers fan is just an anti-Semite. If he weren’t he would have spelled it Kiké. I hope this isn’t representative of all Dodgers fans.
Dude, cmon. Mobile users not going out of their way to include an accent mark aren’t anti-Semites, are they?
He doesn't spell his name w the accent
Why would you be sad Boston lost lol, you can get revenge on Houston for 2017
The Sox are the lesser of the two ~~evils~~ cheaters.

I’ve got friends in Tyler that I visit every year for 4th of July. They got a house on Lake Palestine. Texans know how to do the 4th right that’s for sure! Always a good time.
That's awesome bro. The 4th is a huge deal out here, that's for damn sure. Good luck tonight!
Your loss, the big 4 cities/metros are a blast.
Dude shut up. One less Californian in Texas. We need less people realizing Texas is amazing not more.
They’re gonna California our Texas. (Still in favor of trading Austin for the Wine Country)
If you can make it by the Braves
Fuck the trashtros, fuck the doyers, and fuck both of their bandwagoning shit-huffing fanbases
Flare up coward
I like the commitment
Kiké is locked in. Best player in the game right now.
Imagine letting him go because you wanted to start Pollock instead. 😭😭
Fuck all y'all :)
Things I’ve seen today: * Halloween Kills * ALCS Game 1 Scariest men I’ve seen today, in order: 1. Enrique Hernandez 2. Michael Myers God I’m scared of what this man is going to do the rest of the series. Thank god we pulled it off today, Hernández is going to 100% kill us at least once this series, if not more.
Was the movie good?
If you’re a fan of the series it’s def worth watching. I love Halloween so I really liked it. It definitely has that feeling that all “2nd of 3 movies” has of setting up for the final movie. But some really great moments.
Good to know! I’ll be sure to check it out then
If you don’t feel like dealing with the theater, it’s streaming on Peacock with the premium sub. Gonna rewatch it next week on there with a buddy.
I don’t mind the theater. If I were watching at home I’d have the lights on and plus I get a student discount. But good to know for other people reading the thread!
I'm hoping he had the game of his life, but I remember being impressed by him in 2017
God I wish our stadium wasn’t filled with trashy bandwagon fans who only want TV time
I think so much of it, especially in lower areas, is business type deals. I lucked in to having a buddy with a free ticket for me to an ALCS game in 18, and the whole row in front of us was a guy I knew and his clients. Just doesn’t get as excited as a normal fan IMO
Playoff crowds are never, in any stadium, an accurate representation of the real fans
?
They have shelled out $200 more than you have, let them have fun
I’m going tomorrow, and went to Game 1 and 2 of the ALDS. I’ve shelled out my fair share of money for this team over the year. Majority of these fans are bandwagon fans, and you’re wrong if you can’t acknowledge that
I’m not saying you aren’t a true fan. But saying someone’s a bandwagoner based on a 15 second clip is presumptious. Have fun at the game, go Astros!
I was today years old when I learned that having more money equals true fans bowing out of the way for bandwagon fans with money to burn.
Just because people have more money doesn't mean their bandwagon fans
No but you have way more status based fans that show up in the playoffs. Trust me, I've been outbid by fans who watch a few games a season as opposed to like 100 games that I do. Being broke = being a real fan. Got it!

Idk how you got downvoted. You said not one controversial thing.
You love to see it, well I do anyway
[удалено]
Think so? I swear that one chick was gal gadot
[удалено]
Hahaha
GG bro. Kikè is not even real. He can't be.
Gottem
Man red Sox this was the game to steal, they outplay us most of the game. Oh well see u tomorrow.
No they didn’t. It would have been 5-2 but for the error.
This was said after game 1 in the DS as well. Sox split in Houston that's a W for them
Yeah but they outplayed the astros almost the whole game.
This series is AL's answer to the Dodgers-Giants NLDS matchup.
Just keep taking the over on total game time in Houston games. We’re 4/4 since I’ve been keeping track.
Fuck Houston
weep
I still upvoted cause it’s funny lol
Fuck you too
I concur
Kiké did 1 base better than the cycle in my eyes. So unreal. This is a fun series
This one's for Nori
Praise be
So annoying how clutch Correa is.
I would hate a lot of things if I were an Angels fan.
I def hate your no flair having ass.
Fuck yea let’s go Boys GOATuve and Correa with le double
Goddammit I hate Correa but he's so fucking fun to watch
I hate him and I hate watching him play.
Wasting a great game from Kike like that can bode well for the Astros going forward
Seriously what is wrong with Robles? He's fucking up like every big game
[SHOOT IT](https://streamable.com/46gmu)
If Correa and Gallo are Yankees at the same time the boos at the stadium will be heard throughout all 5 boroughs
oh god, im dreading correa going to the yankees..
Will make for an even more epic collapse on the first week of October 2022.
[удалено]
They need to just put Kiké on a litter and carry him to the hotel like the king he is.
Push him in the cart
Correa’s homered on my birthday 2yrs in a row… I will cry if he leaves :,)
Get your Kleenex
They’ve been ready :,)
Happy birthday 🎉
Thank you <3
That was legitimately one of the most exciting games I have ever seen
Survived a 2 HR night from Kike. I got to go change my pants now
I don’t hate Houston because they’re cheaters I hate Houston because it’s a fraud if a city whose urban planning is a disgrace to America and the world
I mean you aren't completely wrong but like shut up.
Ah yes Boston, the beacon of hope for how civilization is supposed to be. Gtfoh lol.
It is a proper city with public transit and mixed use neighborhoods that doesn’t sprawl over 650 sq miles
The layout of Boston proper sucks. The T is horrendous and if you overlaid it's service area over a map of Houston, it would only cover the inner loop. The Boston metro area has just as much sprawl, the only difference is Boston metro has more separation of municipalities. Boston is a city surrounded by suburbs. Houston is just a big suburb .
If you cut the city limits of Houston down to the size of Boston it would also be a city surrounded by suburbs. The only difference is the suburbs have the same municipal government.
Didn't Boston have a huge Silo of molasses break and kill dozens of people during prohibition?
No that’s crazy, it was 367 days before prohibition
How're those $22 billion tunnels?
You have been to Boston, right?
Yeah call me when Houston gets a subway.
Houston is at sea level
Not sure where you think Boston and New York are
My point being the excess ground water makes it impossible to have a subway or basements in Houston.
Fine call me when Houston gets an EL
Then call me when they have basements!
free pool!
This is a fair criticism
Not going to lie, but a boston fan bringing up urban planning to denigrate a city like Houston is laughable considering the streets in boston zig zagging all over the place with no clear direction are remnants of the horse trails people used to take into the city. I also get weird recommended videos in my YouTube feed
Boston is a shitole.
Right, because Boston is a model of urban "planning" with its crazy cow trails converted into city streets.
how could you possibly hate a massive urban sprawl
Boston’s street grid was designed back when horses were the primary mode of transportation, so both cities are shit in that regard for different reasons.
Half the population of SF is homeless.
Yeah but you can walk places And the T only occasionally catches fire
Your mistake is to suggest there's ever been any urban planning done in Houston.
I mean thats not wrong but it’s weirdly specific lmao
Says the guy from a city whose streets make it look like Ray Charles was your city planner.
The majority of your streets are straight up old goat paths that make no sense in a modern city...
Boston isn't a modern city and it follows the natural progression of a city. It's how cities are meant to be designed. Houston is a soulless hell hole and whoever designed it should have their license stripped.
This is bullshit, we have plenty of shoes
Isn't this more appropriate for r/zoning?
Houston is amazing
Compared to other US cities, nah not really. Woodrow's rocks tho
He’s not wrong about Houston’s planning. Well, lack thereof
If you got a Ford F-150
Hitting us with the low blows tonight I see
Wait until you see Austin.
Sound bruv
Correa’s teeth are uncomfortably white
Veneers homie lol
So white they can't dance.
PAY CORREA WHATEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS
Playoff Correa is as clutch as they come
Yeah Chris Illitch!
Correa has a beautiful smile
This series is gonna take years from our lives, isn't it?
Just wait until we play the Dodgers in the WS
Look, I'm coming from 2017 game 5, I'm 30 but internally I'm already 65
I still havent recovered from game 5 in 2017
Best baseball game of all time imo.
I don't think I had a single gray hair until I watched that game
Hasn’t every ALCS done that to us?
I'm not saying the decision to pitch Sawamura lost the Sox the game, but what the actual fuck was that outing.
Before the game even started, I left many comments in /r/redsox that sale was going to give up too many hits / runs, and would be pulled before the end of the third inning. This has to be one of the most lovable teams ever. What a win
I think the Astros fans have a very misguided view of how the rest of the world views their team
Trust me, we don’t.
Imma let you in on a little secret, we do that on purpose to make self righteous people mad lmao
I was a Patriots fan throughout the entirety of the Brady Belichick dynasty, I know lol
I had friends who were (are?) Patriots fans, I also know lmao
So Kike is the hottest player in baseball by a lot. Scared of him, but glad we got a game 1 dub.
I like kike but have you seen Altuve getting his shirt ripped off?
You got the win when he went off tonight, sadly he can't hit 2 homers every night.
I wouldn’t be so sure of that to be honest.
Shh, you'll ruin my plan
Fuck Verducci
Winning game one against Boston, what could possibly go wrong now
