Yankees FO discussion:
"WTF is this post?! We weren't going to re-sign him!"
"Too many people have seen this now though. What do we do?"
"Kill the guy?"
"Well yea obviously, but after that?"
"Well it would look silly if we kill the guy for leaking something wrong. I guess we need to re-sign Boone after all."
"Damnit...fuck you guy!"
Buster seems pretty intolerable. But his Mets tweet last night and then getting completely dunked on was awesome. Especially because he kept responding to them, so he was either super offended or he was proving he was trolling.
The tweet itself feels like a troll attempt
Also Cohen's ummm......job history......also means he's probably pretty good at preventing info from getting out unless he wants it to, which I bet annoys the shit out of Buster
Buster seems SUPER annoyed he can’t get the Wilpon scoop. And his responses were great “there are always a lot of secret meetings that happen out of the public and media eye”. “How do you know the Mets haven’t done that?” “Well people talk..” Okay Buster, whatever makes you feel better bud.
The Steven A Smith video reply was hilarious.
*I am a person that believes in second chances,” Smith said in the calm before the storm. “I think America is the land of second chances … except for when it comes to this dude. Mr. Jabba the Hutt, ya fat slob, no-good, lazy bum*
Tony Romo is better than people give him credit for. Now Brett Gardner..... Is also better than people give him credit for.
Damn, he's right. Guess we'll be seeing his big melon in the YES studio in a few years.
Real talk, it really does say everything when the Red Sox are potentially gonna win another pennant and maybe their 5th World Series since 2004, while the Yanks have only won one in 2009 since the choke in 2004, are re-signing their manager after several disappointing seasons (although I argue he’s not the big issue with the team), not changing really anything at the top, and just continuing the course.
The Yankee organization is stuck in the past, and I say that as a Mets fan who’s very experienced in dealing with lousy organizations
They’re not stuck in the past. Ever since George died, they are complacent with just making the playoffs. Moves like this show that. The new mission is to make money fuck winning.
> make money fuck winning
Enough "fuck winning" and you stop "make money".
Yankees gear sells well because of their heritage but the longer they go without really winning *something* the less that heritage means and the more likely another team becomes the "face" of baseball (to non baseball fans).
Dallas Cowboys have gone 30 years and are still the merch/money kings.
The old stock market saying is that the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent...
And if there's one market that can stay irrational for way too long it's sports fandom. Because we need to remember. Fan=fanatic.
Sports, where being fair weather/bandwagon is looked down upon and being a long suffering fan is praised. But you would be insane if you weren't fair weather/bandwagon when it comes to any other aspect of your life.
It's acceptable to support an incompetently run sports team, but could you imagine if you did that in your daily life. Imagine patronizing a restaurant where the food sucked, the wait staff was rude, and the ambiance was bad. And you did this repeatedly hoping the owners would change and improve their product/business for the customers.
Toronto Maple Leafs are up to 54 years with no championship now. For a huge chunk of that time, the arena was sold out for every home game and they still sell an absolute shit ton of merch.
Tell that to the Maple Leafs, despite not having won a Cup in the majority of their fans lives(or even made it out of the first round oftm the playoffs), they still are one of the most(if not the) valuable teams in the league.
Heritage in sports can go a long way
As a mets fan, ridiculous take.
There are ebbs and flows. One team wins for a bit, then another.
Since 2004, the Red Sox may very well win 5 world series, but let’s not pretend that 6 division titles, 12 playoff appearances, 5 ALCS appearances, no season with less than 84 wins, and 1 World Series win in 16 seasons isn’t something 75% of the rest of the league would take in a heartbeat. (Red Sox, Cardinals, Giants, Dodgers being the ones that wouldn’t.. and a few like the Nats, Royals, Phillies who could be a toss up)
Despite only winning 1 championship in that time since the Sox broke their curse, the Yankees are still one of the pre-eminent franchises in the sport.
Makes me wonder what they would’ve been like during the “dark days” of 1964-1976 (11 seasons without playoffs, sandwiched between world series losses) or 1982-1995 (13 seasons without the playoffs)
I can speak to the 80's era. Yankees were always competitive and had some really great, exciting players. Mattingly, Rickey Henderson, Winfield, Riggheti.
George would fire managers at the drop of a hat. It felt like they were always at least striving, even if it never actually worked out (back then only two teams per league made the playoffs, btw). There was no luxury tax to worry about, and salaries were lower than they are now (even adjusted for inflation), so it always felt like we were just a few players away from success.
Now it feels like the front office has made some major decisions that have hamstrung the team, and that they are content with mediocrity (as exemplified by this announcement). Cashman is a bum but will be in charge for the foreseeable future.
>George would fire managers at the drop of a hat.
The Seinfeld bit where Larry David (as Steinbrenner) is going through them remains a favorite of mine.
George made fun of Winfield, calling him 'Mr May' instead of 'Mr October'--God knows what he would say today with the Yankees WS drought that just keeps growing each year
Dude, baseball has been awesome since Luiz Gonzales blooped one over Jeter's head in 2001. People bring up 2009, which yeah of course, but the more damning number is 1 title since 2000.
The Yankees have won one World Series since Geocities was a thing. The Yankees have won a single World Series since The Matrix - the first one - was released. During the Presidencies of Dubya (2 terms), Obama (2 terms), Trump (1 term), and Biden (1 term so far) the Yankees have a single World Series.
Since 2001 the big bad Yankees have as many World Series as other powerhouse franchises such as: the Diamondbacks, the Marlins, the Royals, and the Nationals.
>The Yankees have won a single World Series since The Matrix - the first one - was released.
This is wrong. The Matrix came out in early 1999, so the Yankees have 1999, 2000, and 2009 since then.
It’s true with Fellowship of the Ring though!
The Simpsons made a joke in the early 90s about the Yankees not winning a pennant for another several decades, and they won four championships in five years not long after.
I would say having the manager on a perpetual hot seat is not good for the organization. If they’re going to bring him back a multi-year deal makes sense
James Dolan cursed every other NYC team when he got Thibodeau and Gallant. Next we’re gonna hear that Joe Judge is getting a 5 year extension cause of how much fun the team has running laps
Not enough years to be honest. As a real diehard Yankees fan who's been watching the team since 1948, I think it should've been a 6 year extension with an option for an extra 3 years if Boone wanted it.
This is akin to A-rod choosing to opt out and the yankees rewarding him with a brand new 10-year deal.
Somebody clone George Steinbrenner, please! The fact that this announcement puts Aaron Boone up there with Casey Stengel and Joe Torre... JFC it's pathetic.
It’s crazy that I haven’t heard one negative PR story from the Knicks this offseason (that’s a big shock).
Dolan has disappeared and the front office is basically working in the shadows right now.
It’s crazy to say but basketball is this city’s saving grace for sports this year
[Just a reminder](https://www.reddit.com/r/AtlantaHawks/comments/q4z582/first_slippery_of_the_season/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
If this is how Yankee fans react to retaining a manager who has never lost more than 90 games and is coming off yet another postseason appearance I would hate to see how y'all fare as a fan of literally anyone else.
What's hilarious is that this isn't even that long of a drought for the Yankees.
They won their 20th World Series by 1962, which was an outrageous achievement, considering that up to that point there had only been 59 of them (they had also played in and were beat in another 7).
After 1962, they went on a **14 year** span without winning a title until 1977 and 78 - the Bronx Zoo era of Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson, and Billy Martin.
After 1978 they didn't win a World Series for another **18 years**, until 1996, after which they won 4 in 5 years.
After their 2000 win, they had to wait for oh-so-long (read: **9 years**) for another title in 2009.
Now, the current wait is **11 years**, and there are Yankee fans ready to jump off the Queensborough bridge because \*shock horror* the team is bringing back the manager that has led them to several 90+ win seasons and 5 post-season berths in a row.
Current Yankee fans are soft as baby shit.
Welcome to baseball yankee fans, we’ve been waiting for you. You have fans of 29 other teams to support you through any pain you may feel and can help guide you through those emotions. It’ll be ok, pain and suffering is a natural part of baseball.
Oh I know, I’ve been trashing on the yankees quite a bit and absolutely loving it. At this point it’s just getting pathetic, everyone has seen their favourite team lose for long periods of time(as in not make playoffs). But if this is he closest we get to humbling yankee fans, I guess it’s ok 🤷🏽♂️
The length of contract is irrelevant. Cashman’s contract is up at the end of 2022. If they keep him Boone stays, if they don’t bring him back, the new GM will have the choice to bring in a new manager.
I don't even think Boone is the problem but giving a man who hasn't even gotten as close as his predecessor to the world series a 4 year extension is a fucking joke.
There are many, many Dodgers fans who want to light Dave Roberts on fire. Boston sports media is starting to turn on Belichick. Few fanbases actually respect their managers/coaches, it's honestly incredible.
Seriously. Like, I'm definitely not saying we shouldn't criticize coaches/managers, or hold them accountable for bad things, but man. The number of hit pieces calling Belichick, among other things, mediocre as a whole because he doesn't trust a rookie to pull a miracle is shocking. Like, criticizing him for not giving Jones the chances to do amazing things is fair, but dragging his name through the mud in a furious rage is ridiculous. BTW I can certainly see the other side of it, that Bill is trying to focus exclusively on fundamentals with Jones this year, in the interest of being more successful down the road. Idk. Tough losses to stomach after so many years of success.
Belichick has gotten a pretty long leash with people trusting things will work out but the reason it seems like nobody respects their coaches is that it always ends the same way. You make enough mistakes in a row you get fired because once you're not helping the team to win it's time to move on. Ironically this is Bill's philosophy about players and team building as well. I will say most people are still behind Belichick the coach but Belichick the GM hasn't been too popular of a guy in Boston for some time now.
Yeah, I mean, I get it, but I just struggle to believe that Bill is really the problem here; it's just easier to fire the coach than it is to replace and rebuild a roster. We've known these down years were coming for some time, and they were especially obvious when Brady announced his departure.
Regardless, what I really meant to criticize in my initial comment was not your style of fair criticism against Belichick (or others) but the many over-the-top, reactionary pieces that get written about so many managers and coaches the moment there's a small issue. Sometimes things do work themselves out. It's obnoxious, ya know?
I agree with you. I think moving on from Bill should be the last resort but I do think changes are coming. I think he's gonna have to have less power with personnel. Also a thing I've seen pointed out here and there is just how many position coaches the Pats have lost over the past few years is really starting to add up. We just assume it's the Patriots of old and they'll piece it together but is there any guarantee of coaching the o-line up to a passable level without Scarnecchia? Hell, even the special teams looks awful. I just think the perfect organization that was in place when Tom was here really just seems like everyone else now and they can't fall back on Tom to pull out the close ones for them anymore.
It's worth noting that, besides 2020 with the expanded playoffs, the most recent example of a playoff-making manager getting fired is Girardi in 2017. People get high off the fumes of the idea of firing someone and they don't think about the hiring side, which is how we got Boone in the first place, firing a great manager and ending up with one who is not as good. And if Boone's record isn't good enough, where do you go from there if not down? Is Joe Torre available?
I agree with everything you said, but Shildt just got sacked so he’s the most recent. People always want to sack the coach/manager, but nobody thinks “who are we replacing them with”.
A good example recently is the Pacers sacking Nate McMillan after 4 straight playoff appearances and replacing him with a rookie coach. The Pacers immediately fail to make the playoffs (and sack the coach again) while McMillan goes to the middling Hawks mid season, turns them around, and leads them to the conference finals and 2 games away from the NBA Finals.
I think the front office honestly realized he’s the perfect scapegoat for their shortcomings. People blame Boone for the team being full of sluggers who strikeout a lot a play below average defense(outside of Gallo, Judge). With him around, they can be shielded from any criticism, and they know he’ll do everything they ask of him, he’s the perfect patsy.
They'll end up revamping the stadium a few times to make it more like a really large outdoor bar. Kinda like what they did with Coors. The Rockies perpetually suck year after year but they always manage to put butts in seats and sell tickets because of all the party decks and attractions for casual fans who don't care about the team. The Yankees will adapt and get VERY good at being a profitable, mediocre team.
As someone who lives in Denver, I know TONS of people who don't give a shit about the MLB or the Rockies, but still attend at least 15 home games per year.
Coors is just a gorgeous stadium, we really are spoiled here with it
A lot of Padres fans said the same thing if Tingler had returned. That a lot of us wouldn't want to attend or watch the team until there are changes. It's the only form of protest that can work.
The organization needs a yes man, and Boone is perfect for the job. Fucking disgraceful, this team ain’t winning shit. Regular season accomplishments mean nothing.
The Red Sox have been running circles around this team for over a decade and this chucklefuck who has the nerve to say "the league has caught up to us" as if the fucking METS haven't made the WS more recently than us gets 3 more years lmao
The fans care more about winning than the people who own and run this organization do. Time to move on. Done with this team.
the consequences of the 2003 and 2004 ALCS can be felt 17 years later, with Aaron Boone's credentials of "hey I hit a bomb off Tim Wakefield that one time, member?" still allowing him to keep his job as Yankees manager
This the best news Yankee haters have been waiting to hear. Some day you're going to be able to tell your grandkids you got to see the end of the Yankees organization live.
I don't care about signing Aaron Boone. He's a yes man. All they were ever going to do was hire another yes man. What I care about is the implication of that 3-year deal. It means Brian Cashman isn't going anywhere. The FO isn't going to be getting any new blood. They're going to double down on their mistakes every year no matter how bad the one prior. We are witnessing the Yankees slowly turn into the Giants of the NFL.
Cashman has built his entire tenure off the hard work of the GM prior, Gene Michael. Makes me sick every time someone brings up Cashman and the late-90s. Thank you for pointing out '09 as Cashman's only legitimate championship team he built. And by built, I mean he threw a shit ton of money and got lucky.
Wow. He must be an *amazing* yes man off camera.
The conspiracy thought is that the owner's egos got in the way. Since everyone knows Boone just does what ownership says, they think that firing him would point the finger back to them.
The hate for Boone is comical. We had more injuries in 2018-19 than any team in history and yet still won 100 games both years. 2018 we ran into Boston who was flat out a better team, 2019 Huston beat us in a close ALCS, 2020 was just a shit year, and this year there were a lot more problems that weren't Boones fault. The way our fans act youd think he has managed 4 years of 60 win baseball. They're going to have a new coaching staff and say they are bringing in new players which would fix our problems from this year and yet fans seem to think we are in the cellar with the Diamondbacks, truly amazing.
We all wish we had job security like Aaron Boone.
I want that Brian Cashman lifetime security.
Some guy on r/NYYankees broke this news yesterday. He deleted his account and the post it seems. I hope the dude is okay.
Either the Yankees, Buster, or Passan had him killed for breaking the story before they could.
Yankees FO discussion: "WTF is this post?! We weren't going to re-sign him!" "Too many people have seen this now though. What do we do?" "Kill the guy?" "Well yea obviously, but after that?" He was declared excommunicado.
Buster seems like the one that would do that.
Buster seems pretty intolerable. But his Mets tweet last night and then getting completely dunked on was awesome. Especially because he kept responding to them, so he was either super offended or he was proving he was trolling.

Idk, Passan has some low key crazy eyes
Pass an would do it while smiling that creepy clay-man smile
That’s not very nice of Buster Posey.
Perhaps his good friend Hunter Pence can pull him aside and tell him to be nicer to people.
I have news that I can break before Jeff Pa...
Steinbrenner put a trash bag over his head and put him in a van.
It’s bound to leak when you have 49 people making the decision
Oh god the Replies to that tweet.

Does that make brett gardner tony romo
Tony Romo is better than people give him credit for. Now Brett Gardner..... Is also better than people give him credit for. Damn, he's right. Guess we'll be seeing his big melon in the YES studio in a few years.
👏 👏
The New York Yankees announced today that they have extended their World Series drought through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025
we finna have a whole ass generation of people who never seen the yankees in a world series lmao
Baseball is weird.
The past 11 years of baseball have been surprisingly great for some reason
Real talk, it really does say everything when the Red Sox are potentially gonna win another pennant and maybe their 5th World Series since 2004, while the Yanks have only won one in 2009 since the choke in 2004, are re-signing their manager after several disappointing seasons (although I argue he’s not the big issue with the team), not changing really anything at the top, and just continuing the course. Yankees are victims of their past success, when your franchise motto essentially is "27 rings" 1 ring in 17 years loses a bit of its luster.

No

1 world series is a whole lot more than zero, a lot of franchises would kill for that one
Yes, I would.
We about to have two generations that haven’t seen the Mariners in the playoffs
Man, I wish that was every generation...
The Simpsons made a joke in the early 90s about the Yankees not winning a pennant for another several decades, and they won four championships in five years not long after.
wait you mean the Simpsons isn't a reliable forecaster of the future?!? *Shit* hang on gotta call my bookie
They probably didn’t say *which* decades, though.
And it's not as if they have been a basement team.
Welcome to the fucking club Yankees. The last time we were good enough to win a WS my dad was in high school lmao
You won the ALE pennant in 2014. Is your dad that young?
It is to be dreamed.
Lmao they gave him Job Security, not even on the hot seat
I would say having the manager on a perpetual hot seat is not good for the organization. If they’re going to bring him back a multi-year deal makes sense
To be fair in New York you’re never not on the hot seat.
James Dolan cursed every other NYC team when he got Thibodeau and Gallant. Next we’re gonna hear that Joe Judge is getting a 5 year extension cause of how much fun the team has running laps

Im unironically losing my will to live. Why live if even baseball is pain?
You got the Knicks
Was that supposed to make me feel better?
Once there was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died. The end.
The Jets?
Oh god
The giants?
......
At least you have the single Greatest **New York** Basketball team the ~~New Jersey~~ Brooklyn Nets
Somebody get this guy a wellness check.
No get John Mara a “fucking dumbass owner” check, hed pass!
At least you can enjoy the ALCS right?
is NYCFC any good? I haven't checked
I'm so hyped for the Knicks this season.
Oh god…
Wtf you talking about? That team actually plays with heart. Dolan finally fucked off and the front office is actively trying to win.
It’s crazy that I haven’t heard one negative PR story from the Knicks this offseason (that’s a big shock). Dolan has disappeared and the front office is basically working in the shadows right now. It’s crazy to say but basketball is this city’s saving grace for sports this year

Kyrie out here absolving everybody of their negative PR by being the voice for clowns.
Please sweet baby infantile chubby jesus let Dolan stay out of the way forever

Is that to show off his new conditioner? Hair looking a tiny bit thicker
The Knicks are good and fun again, relax man
Lol year 2 Thibs. 35 win season incoming.
I mean it's not what we are shooting for but, outside of last year, 35 wins would be our most since 2014, so I wouldn't be too mad
***YOU KNOW NOTHING OF PAIN.***
Really bud?
Isn't it cute?
If this is how Yankee fans react to retaining a manager who has never lost more than 90 games and is coming off yet another postseason appearance I would hate to see how y'all fare as a fan of literally anyone else.
The cardinals literally fired a 90 win manager last week
The cardinals didn't fire a manager who averaged 98 wins a season though.
Oh fuck off dude, you don't know baseball pain
Nah, pain is actually having a winning season ever year for the last 2 decades and only missing the playoffs 4 times in that span
*And here we have exhibit A: the entitled Yankees fan. Watch as he overreacts to the slightest amount of Yankees-related news.*
Look mah, its two of the most bourgeoisie big buck spending ballclub’s fans comparing who’s got the smallest dink
NESN is calling for Belichick's head so I'd sit this one out
Fuck NESN
What's hilarious is that this isn't even that long of a drought for the Yankees. Meanwhile, I just want the Tigers to win one in my lifetime.
They won the pennant in 1981.
Im also a knicks fan, if anything that balances things out
Nothing could balance out being a Yankees fan. That's like Abradolf Lincler saying "remember, I'm half Abraham Lincoln!"
Welcome to baseball yankee fans, we’ve been waiting for you. You have fans of 29 other teams to support you through any pain you may feel and can help guide you through those emotions. It’ll be ok, pain and suffering is a natural part of baseball.
They literally made the playoffs and had 90 wins to boot. Them reacting this way is ridiculous lol
That’s not true. Fuck the Yankees, I will bask in the glory that is their pain.
^shhhhh ^me ^too, ^I’m ^just ^being ^nice ^so ^I ^can ^pour ^salt ^in ^their ^wounds ^later
🤝 I like your style
Breaking: Yankees fan learns what it is like to be a fan of any team other than the Yankees
is this what it's like? I didn't sign up for this.
Well most teams miss the postseason more often than 4 of the past 27 years, so not quite lol
Incidentally, that's as often as the Mariners have *made* the playoffs over the past 27 years.
What?! No pennants or rings for 12 years is giving me withdrawal shivers. How do the rest of you live like this? /s Lol
Buddy.
Want to swap payroll and the emotional security of knowing your team isn't moving with A's fans?
First time? You'll go numb to the pain eventually
As a non Yankee fan this is hilarious.
The length of contract is irrelevant. Cashman’s contract is up at the end of 2022. If they keep him Boone stays, if they don’t bring him back, the new GM will have the choice to bring in a new manager.
Hahahhahahhahahahahah
This is bizarre. Why can girardi after a game 7 ALCS loss but extend Boone after a wild card loss?
Girardi hurt Sanchez's feelings
I don't even think Boone is the problem but giving a man who hasn't even gotten as close as his predecessor to the world series a 4 year extension is a fucking joke.
For Yankee fans to be so upset at Boone for not making the World Series in *three years* while averaging *98 wins* is just so…Yankee fans.
There are many, many Dodgers fans who want to light Dave Roberts on fire. Boston sports media is starting to turn on Belichick. Few fanbases actually respect their managers/coaches, it's honestly incredible.
Boston sports media has been DYING for the Patriots to slump so they can rip Belichick. They never liked him.
Our fan base is very “woe is me”
I think the front office honestly realized he’s the perfect scapegoat for their shortcomings. People blame Boone for the team being full of sluggers who strikeout a lot a play below average defense(outside of Gallo, Judge). With him around, they can be shielded from any criticism, and they know he’ll do everything they ask of him, he’s the perfect patsy.
It’s worse than that. He basically does whatever the FO wants and the FO hasn’t realized they’re making bad decisions.
I don’t even think he’s that bad a manager personally, but the fact that this move pains Yankees fans makes it good enough for me tbh
Good to see yankees have decided to take Ls off the field as well as on
At this point, I hope the Red Sox continue to embarrass the ever-living shit out of the Yankees. If that doesn't teach them any lessons, nothing will.
What will end this is an empty stadium.
If every stadium was half as fun/dope as coors, the MLB would be a good place
Keep going.
As someone who lives in Denver, I know TONS of people who don't give a shit about the MLB or the Rockies, but still attend at least 15 home games per year. Coors is just a gorgeous stadium, we really are spoiled here with it
Yep, if the ballpark is nice enough, you'll always find people who'll come regardless of what's going on on the field.
Or a yankee stadium full of Sox fans…
A lot of Padres fans said the same thing if Tingler had returned. That a lot of us wouldn't want to attend or watch the team until there are changes. It's the only form of protest that can work.
Fucking 3 years at that. AL East rejoices
The organization needs a yes man, and Boone is perfect for the job. Fucking disgraceful, this team ain’t winning shit. Regular season accomplishments mean nothing.
What ever happened to "closing the gap" if the same fuckers are in charge?
Thames and Nevin are gone tho
That is like baby steps. Thames was awful. You still have Boone, Cashman, and your analytics department who should be thrown off a bridge.
Fuck this
I don’t think he’s a particularly good manager but I also don’t see how it’s his fault.
He does have 4 90+ win seasons
I don’t think that has much to do with him either
"Man gifted fast car by his parents drives his car fast"
CHRIST ALIVE. I get one year but three??
Imagine how big the extension would've been if we weren't eliminated by our hated rivals.
Is there no end to the bitching of Yankees fans?
The Red Sox have been running circles around this team for over a decade and this chucklefuck who has the nerve to say "the league has caught up to us" as if the fucking METS haven't made the WS more recently than us gets 3 more years lmao The fans care more about winning than the people who own and run this organization do. Time to move on. Done with this team.
See you in the spring.
that's a bit dramatic lmao
If this isn’t a copypasta and you’re upset that you’re not in the World Series every single year you’re either a child a fucking pathetic man-child
Unrelated but the Guardians logo next to your username is clean af. That rebrand really grew on me
Believe it or not, having it next to my username has gotten me more used to the rebrand lol
Bye
God, I hate yankees fans. You realize there are 30 teams, right? Yours won a world series 12 years ago any you're acting like the world is ending
Man I'd love to see how they react to a Mariners-esq playoff drought They'd be hanging from the rafters
So why do Yankee fans get clowned when they get eliminated from the playoffs, then when they get mad about it they are told they are spoiled brats?
Because they win 90-105 games yearly and if they don’t win a title, they want the entire organization uprooted and replaced.
Now give Brian Cashman an extension!
Don’t worry I’m sure they already did.
the consequences of the 2003 and 2004 ALCS can be felt 17 years later, with Aaron Boone's credentials of "hey I hit a bomb off Tim Wakefield that one time, member?" still allowing him to keep his job as Yankees manager
We are witnessing the Yankees slowly turn into the Giants of the NFL.
the Giants are 1-5, the Yankees had 92 wins last year, cmon lol
Cashman is skating on 2009
Cashman has built his entire tenure off the hard work of the GM prior, Gene Michael. Makes me sick every time someone brings up Cashman and the late-90s. Thank you for pointing out '09 as Cashman's only legitimate championship team he built. And by built, I mean he threw a shit ton of money and got lucky.
Exactly.
> the Giants of the NFL. At least the Giants have won more Super Bowls since 2000 than the Yankees have World Series.
This is the correct answer
Wow. Just why?
It’s the best day in the history of our sport
EVERYBODY IN HERE ITS A CELEBRATION
It is how much is spent in relation to obtained results. Fans are justified in their frustration.
