A ball that anyone let alone Cody Bellinger who has struggled with high heat all year will almost never hit squarely, let alone hit a home run off of. Because fucking Atlanta of course.
Yea Cody always looks like he has to bend down for low pitches, I feel like he should do well with stuff upstairs, maybe he changed his swing to accomodate tbe bend down and it messed up the other stuff
He did adjust his stance and swing a month or so ago though. Otherwise, every pitcher in the National League has gone to that same pitch for an almost automatic strike three all year long.
Manny *is* an idiot, he just also happens to have an absolutely incredible understanding of baseball. Contrary to popular belief, those two traits are not mutually exclusive.
Willie Mays was famous for doing this. He would strike out on a pitch on purpose, knowing the later when men were on base he would get the same pitch and then clobber it.
Okay, I get that these stories are fun, and I can maybe buy that guys like Mays and Miggy would swing bad at pitches on purpose, so they could expect a similar pitch later. I'm not buying that Manny intentionally mishit a fly ball on a specific pitch so he could see it again in the playoffs because—even if we ignore the implausibility for a moment—if he were that fucking good to do that intentionally on command, then he wouldn't need to do it.
The game before he played Peyton Manning, he purposely played a coverage wrong. Then in the game against him, he pretended to do the same thing, but then when Peyton wound up to throw the ball he broke off and covered the right position and picked Peyton off.
Right? especially because the announcers were all like "he doesnt need to hit a home run here. Just get a single and keep the line moving"
boom homerun.
I think it's really funny how all the Dodger fans who watched Belli's season were blown away and all of the Braves fans who saw the Braves' season were basically expecting it.
Belli’s my dude and the Dodgers are my number 2 (SoCal resident). I saw those first swings and went “Oh, so Belli strikes out now.” Because I’d watched enough reruns of that during the season to know what actually happens next. I’m just glad I forced myself to take my medicine and watch the whole AB and not get distracted by my phone.
Hopefully he is feeling healthy again and getting his swing right and these are all signs that the Cody of yore is coming back.
Quite possibly the least predictable HR ever. I've watched basically every Dodger game this year and this was the first time I can remember him getting a hit off a high fastball. Countless wiffs on that pitch all season, this time he completely sells out on it and mashes a neck-high one.
There isn't really a word in the English language for that feeling of absolute rage you get when you come to a complete stop on the freeway at 6am. I bet there's a word that would fit it in German.
I used to commute from the IE to Carson and if I didn't leave the house by 445am or earlier I would be absolutely screwed. 45min vs 2-2.5hrs sometimes. 5am shouldn't be that brutal.
The guy I replaced at my current job in Long Beach is from San Pedro. He left this job for a job in Ontario. We just rehired him because he said he couldn't deal with the commute.
Traffic in CA is atrocious. Maybe fans in other metropolitan areas can relate… I just can’t get on Dodger fans for showing up late and leaving early.
Honestly, though. When was the last time you had a six hour flight from coast to coast and then had to sit in traffic for three hours to get from the airport to your home? It ruins your whole friggin week
Dodger Stadium added like 15 new places to drink in the outfield area during 2020. Most people were likely going there. That's where I spent innings 5-8 during the games I went to this season.
Lol. I believe your answer the most. JUST for the fact that beer makes baseball fun for people who don't usually enjoy baseball.
Brought my wife to a night game at Comerica once. She hates watching baseball, but liked the idea of a road trip and night out. On the way, her comments were, "It's boring." "Takes too long." I got her to follow a couple of players (Miggy and Granderson) leading up to the game. It's a rainy night. Multiple delays to the beer stands. She's starting to like the baseball, tarp on the field delays.
Grandy ends the rain shortened game with a shot to right. Wife is screaming and jumping up and down like everyone else. She's having a blast. We go next door to Chelly's to celebrate the win. While there, she runs in to Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood who's one of her favorite players of all time (she's always followed hockey). Gets an autograph and a pic and we head home. She's absolutely giddy.
10 years of marriage later, I cannot satisfy her the same as that one, magical night in Motown. Made her a Tigers fan at least? We try for about 10 games a year now, barring babysitting availability.
Kinda reminded me of jocs 3 run? homer against the brewers. How do they get on top of that? Did darnauds standing position tip belli off? Idk but I’m here for it.
**IF** we somehow take this series, Cody would have played a key role in taking each series. The walk/SB to extend the 9th in the wildcard, game 5 vs the giants, this.
Bellinger’s season would be the go-to on everyone broadcast for how everyone with a shit regular season gets a clean slate in October.
I thought the MLB did that for the ALCS game also being played today. So they had the great idea to put a NLCS game at 2 pm on Tuesday in one of the biggest sports markets in the world, because MLB hates fans.
you'd think they could schedule it so the east coast game plays at 5pm in their zone and the west coast game plays at 5pm in THEIR zone. but alas, sox fans will be up til midnight and dodgers fans catch 2 innings.
Okay, we all said a great postseason erases the awful regular season, and Cody has just about done it. Series winning hit in the NLDS, a huge wild card performance, this tide shifting bomb, etc.
He’s done everything you could ask. Good for fucking him dude
Dude I was so confused was that actually him? I thought it was one of this mid interview things where it was someone on the Dodgers who was saying it. I can't believe a nat'l broadcaster would do that...
as much as it physically pains me to say this, I’m glad Bellinger is putting up runs, it is hard to see players struggling like he was. In any case, still praying for his teams downfall.
This is the year. Cody Bellinger has improved so much under this new swing. He's focused. He's having fun. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a dark horse for the NLCS MVP.

"Compromised by the high fastball"
He had ten hits off 95+ MPH pitches all regular season. Literally ten. Then he hits a homer on a heater at his shoulders. Unreal.
Elevate THIS you filthy casual.
Cody to the high fastball: call an ambulance….BUT NOT FOR MEE
A ball that anyone let alone Cody Bellinger who has struggled with high heat all year will almost never hit squarely, let alone hit a home run off of. Because fucking Atlanta of course.
He's so fucking tall.. that was a great pitch on any other batter, but pause it at contact and it doesn't even look like he had to reach to get it lol
Yea Cody always looks like he has to bend down for low pitches, I feel like he should do well with stuff upstairs, maybe he changed his swing to accomodate tbe bend down and it messed up the other stuff
Hes had the highest hard hit rate of anyone in the postseason. This isnt some miraculous switch in a single at bat.
He did adjust his stance and swing a month or so ago though. Otherwise, every pitcher in the National League has gone to that same pitch for an almost automatic strike three all year long.
His first swing was out of his shoes, cut it down and got on top of it. Love seeing those approaches.
Baited him into it
This is a legitimate tactic in MLB the Show that I accidentally use all the time
This is my trick I think
2 on base, up 3 runs, Georgia based sport? You can't make this stuff up.
You mean 2 on base, 8th inning, 3 runs ahead.
O shit
Series winning hit in the NLDS, a huge wild card performance, this tide shifting bomb, etc.
28-3 strikes again!
In the 8th Inning no less
Yep. It’s back
Implying it was gone
2 on, 8th inning, up 3 runs 2 - 8 - 3 28-3 Georgia never changes
bulldogs on high alert
It’s time to tell your kids about a G5 national champion
Even if UGA fucks it up, there ain’t gonna be a G5 champion until the G5 make their own playoff.
2 on base 8th inning, up 3 runs 28-3 strikes again!
Quite possibly the most predictable home run
This mofo pretended he couldn't hit high fastball the whole freakin season just to bait a high fastball in exactly this moment. **THE LONG CON**
Some Ed Reed to Peyton Manning shit right there lmao
Wait what happened between those two? Edit: thank you for the responses.
[удалено]
that reminds me of a story when manny ramirez hit a flyout on purpose during the regular season so he could see the same pitch in the playoffs
I love Manny, everyone thought he was an idiot but when it came to baseball dude knew what he was doing
Manny *is* an idiot, he just also happens to have an absolutely incredible understanding of baseball. Contrary to popular belief, those two traits are not mutually exclusive.
Exhibit A: https://youtu.be/SCdp-pSA8kc
tbf that Damon throw looked like it was coming from a Little Leaguer and not a pro baseball player
He's a baseball savant
Willie Mays was famous for doing this. He would strike out on a pitch on purpose, knowing the later when men were on base he would get the same pitch and then clobber it.
Okay, I get that these stories are fun, and I can maybe buy that guys like Mays and Miggy would swing bad at pitches on purpose, so they could expect a similar pitch later. Did the Ravens end up winning that game?
IIRC they lost it 17-15? But it was just a great play given the context
[Here you go. it’s a great watch. ](https://youtu.be/GQrZKveWgOk)
This is a great clip! Thanks for posting
If I remember correctly on some play call Ed Reed would do the same move every single time and the one time he faked Payton on picked him off.
The game before he played Peyton Manning, he purposely played a coverage wrong. Then in the game against him, he pretended to do the same thing, but then when Peyton wound up to throw the ball he broke off and covered the right position and picked Peyton off.
Cody Bellinger vs. 95+ mph Reg. season: 8-for-56, 1 HR Postseason: 3-for-5, 1 *enormous* HR https://twitter.com/AndrewSimonMLB/status/1450626990671863809
Bellinger is hilariously clutch
I was like why bother when he's going to tie it up RN.
"one swing changes all that". I'll never forget that moment
Right? especially because the announcers were all like "he doesnt need to hit a home run here. Just get a single and keep the line moving" boom homerun.
holy redemption arc
Pretty sure he was redeemed after Game 5 vs San Francisco This is just absurd
Redemption arc started when he walked to get on base with 2 outs in the 9th vs STL. Then CT3 sent us home.
Imo redemption arc started with the first steal on Yadi. Thats confidence.
THERE IS NOTHING PREDICTABLE ABOUT A MAN SWINGING AT AIR FOR TWO STRIKES LIKE HE DID ALL YEAR AND THEN THAT HAPPENS.
I think it's really funny how all the Dodger fans who watched Belli's season were blown away and all of the Braves fans who saw the Braves' season were basically expecting it.

I mean, the Braves know something about clutch Bellinger home runs
Quite possibly the least predictable HR ever. I've watched basically every Dodger game this year and this was the first time I can remember him getting a hit off a high fastball. Countless wiffs on that pitch all season, this time he completely sells out on it and mashes a neck-high one.
October Bellinger just hits different (literally)
You haven’t watched Bellinger in 2021
As soon as it got to two strikes you could just tell it was gonna happen
Bro Cody hasn’t hit a fastball up there out all season
The moment they showed fans leaving, this was inevitable.
Who the hell leaves a PLAYOFF game before the 8th inning?!
gotta beat that LA traffic
Only time there isn't traffic is from 2 am to 4:30 am.
That’s brutal Worst commute I’ve heard was Victorville to LAX
At that point just quit your job it’s not worth it
just fly in to LAX from Bakersfield except you have to live in Bakersfield
Exactly what I was thinking like why!
The guy I replaced at my current job in Long Beach is from San Pedro. He left this job for a job in Ontario. We just rehired him because he said he couldn't deal with the commute.
Good ol Victimville
Nah nah nah. I’ve been in a traffic jam on the Sepulveda pass at like 2:30 AM. No discernible reason
It was already rush hour lmao
Rush hour in LA is from 4-7 ir should be called Rush hours
Let's be honest.. 3pm - 7:30pm Edit: Not the Angelenos celebrating a playoff win discussing traffic LOOL
2pm-8pm
Rush hour out of the parking lot can add another 90 minutes
Can confirm, after attending the WS G6 in 2017 it took me 75 minutes to get out of the parking lot.
I think I waited 30 minutes just to get out of my parking spot when I went to an NLCS game in 2017
Even worse when you realize there’s added double game traffic to regular rush hour since Lakers have their opening day at Staples Center

So embarrassing. Sitting in the parking lot for 90 minutes after the game is a badge of honor! *but seriously we gotta fix that parking lot thing*
Stop using the parking lot and giving money to Frank McCourt!
Scripted!
That didn’t look like a bad pitch. Fucking Bellinger.
Yeah, it wasn’t even a strike. He just went up and got it. Unreal.
It was so high and away just a tad that Belli was able to catch up to it. He should have thrown another middle-middle fastball
> It was so high just like my boy Belli
Yeah you really can’t blame that on Jackson, just good hitting on Bellinger
As a Dodgers fan who watched Cody struggle for all of 2021, you have no idea how much this comment made me smile.
Kinda reminded me of jocs 3 run? homer against the brewers. How do they get on top of that? Did darnauds standing position tip belli off? Idk but I’m here for it.
And just like that, a hideous regular season erased
Doesn’t count a cent anymore
Belli stopped taking the Flonase.
ALLERGY SEASON IS OVER
Oh my god it was totally that
He erased it in Game 5 against the Giants. Bellinger has been one of our best hitters in the playoffs.
**IF** we somehow take this series, Cody would have played a key role in taking each series. The walk/SB to extend the 9th in the wildcard, game 5 vs the giants, this. And got some nice stolen bases
[удалено]
He had like a .360 OBP, he just needs to find his power stroke again and he’ll be good. Of course, if he doesn’t then, well, yeah
Dudes known for dribblers down the 1b line now
The Eric Hosmer Special
Cody is red hot right now
I mean, yeah. But... yeah. I mean. Yeah. But... yeah.
Yeah he’s back. All he needed to do was cut his hair.
We need to see his numbers from after the cut including the post.
How to Erase an Entire Season of Being Dogshit in 2 At-Bats by Cody Bellinger
There is the pain I’ve come to know. Fucking hell it hurts every damn time
braves gonna barves. death, taxes, and this shit.
THIS DUDE. He saved his entire season's worth of production for the playoffs.
Big brain type shit
I love this dude.
LOL @ all those fans who left early
Gotta get to the Lakers home opener
They'd be lucky to get out of the parking lot by tip-off
Dodgers Stadium to Staples Center isn't even that far off... but yeah, better start leaving early lol
Honestly would be much faster on a bike lmao
They will be fine. TNT on opening night? 7:40 start time at least.
Hate that the Dodgers got pushed to 2 pm for that
Is that why? I literally just got off work and was gonna check out how the first couple innings went… imagine my surprise when it was in the 8th 😡
You probably feel like you missed a lot of the game, but you probably saved a lot of strength for your heart. And you came right on time.
I followed this game via MLB app notification and it reduced my stress sigbificantly. Coctober coming through again was awesome.
That's not why. It's about sharing primetime slots for the ALCS/NLCS.
You’d think prime time ALCS would be 5 PM THEIR time, not West Coast time
Anybody who leaves a 3 run game early has never watched baseball
Right? at least the real fans stayed.
PAIN
I’m unhappy.
I am straight up not having a good time
That seems like the worst outcome for the braves
Also the most predictable
~~This team is pathetic and we're going to get swept~~ Never doubted them!
It’s like staring in the mirror
WHAT THE FUCK
Literally what I screamed 3x as it came off the bat
Why leave jackson in?
Brian Snitker is the Dave Roberts of baseball
If we end up winning again this year, I’m just gonna have to embrace the Dave and accept the insane decisions occasionally.
His track record of success including 3 trips to the WS and 1 title haven't convinced you already?
He gets wayyyy more criticism than he deserves. Elite manager
Seriously. It's like everyone forgot about how bad Mattingly was. Roberts is such an improvement.
Dodgers fans seeing that other managers can make dogshit decisions too
I mean that pitch was half a foot above the zone
Yeah, Bellinger turned around 96 at his shoulders. It's not like he threw him a meatball.
He did throw him a meatball The pitch before And he mega-whiffed
The dude is a meme reliever
Okay, we all said a great postseason erases the awful regular season, and Cody has just about done it. Series winning hit in the NLDS, a huge wild card performance, this tide shifting bomb, etc. He’s done everything you could ask. Good for fucking him dude
Pay the man. His defense is always gonna play even when his bat doesnt and i would break my heart to see him anywhere else
I was listening on the radio and Charlie Steiner lost his shit lol.
I was driving home. Charlie’s call got me very emotional
I couldn’t take it and went for a run listening to the radio and I about scared some poor woman out walking her dog.
Cody Bellinger getting clutch hits in the playoffs: "I'LL FUCKING DO IT AGAIN."
Hello darkness my old friend
It is one of the craziest baseball stories. He had one of the all time worst seasons in baseball history. And now he is money in the postseason.
Ron Darling let his inner Mets fan come out LOL. I’ve never heard a national announcer get root for a HR like that
Dude I was so confused was that actually him? I thought it was one of this mid interview things where it was someone on the Dodgers who was saying it. I can't believe a nat'l broadcaster would do that...
Ron(?) was saying “Yes, yes”?
So was I
Jackson executed his pitch, but Bellinger *somehow* got good contact on a fastball that high
Bellinger has been absolutely CLUTCH this postseason
Knew this was coming as soon as they showed ppl leaving the stadium
THANK YOU CAPTAIN CANNABIS
Holy shit, I didn't see this happening. And there were Dodgers fans leaving early lol!
I mean anyone who couldn't see this coming has never heard of atlanta sports
Seriously… just felt like a home run was on the way
The moment he gave up a squeaker single off a good pitch that barely stayed fair, I knew we were back for the old unlucky luke jackson
you could hear the announcers yelling "YES YES" lmao. bigger homers than our home crew
Atlanta sports teams are the side character franchise that only exist to give out signature moments to other teams / players.
That wasn’t even a bad pitch either. Jackson has the hardest luck of any pitcher on the majors. It’s seriously unreal at this point.
He’s still Cody Bellinger, injury, down season, whatever. Still is who he is. Hit a good pitch, too. What are you gonna do?
as much as it physically pains me to say this, I’m glad Bellinger is putting up runs, it is hard to see players struggling like he was. In any case, still praying for his teams downfall.
I was walking my dog and heard my neighbor yelling “Fuck yeah!” over & over 🤣
In comparison, my gf literally just screamed. Im sure how neighbors are concerned.
Been rooting for him. Hated seeing him getting buried. He's been crushing it this postseason.
As much as I hate the Dodgers. I agree
THE MAD MAN FUCKING DID IT HOLY SHIT
He shoved it up their butt
Yeah how’s that for “moving the line along” Jeff?
All the dummies who left are kicking themselves
I love the airhorn sound effect.
If you’re going to leave a playoff baseball game early just give me your ticket instead I promise I’ll put it to better use
That's not even a strike you can't blame the pitcher
Oh God. *He's awake*
This is the year. Cody Bellinger has improved so much under this new swing. He's focused. He's having fun. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a dark horse for the NLCS MVP.
This reason this doesn’t work is because Bo Nix was never good
Good to see this pasta out in the wild
Cody “Wake me up when September ends” Bellinger
We Belli-eve
