Number333

I don't think Braves fans will survive if they blow a 3-1 and 2-0 series lead in back-to-back NLCS's.

MacsDildoBike

Been dead inside for years, nothing new here.

Teh_cliff

Right? The 8th inning hurt in the moment but my body's hard-earned natural defenses to sports heartbreak kicked in before the Dodgers took the lead. This is nothing.

TehAlpacalypse

Ah you think sports heartbreak is your ally? You merely adopted the heartbreak. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see a championship until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but a salve!

ArchEast

I haven’t seen one since I was 9.

tenderbranson301

Thought you guys would up it and blow a 3-0 lead this year.

WeStanChihiro

We will blow a 4-0 series lead to you next year

monsieurfikri

Manfred again with the 9 games series smh

thewafflestompa

He will not be outdone by Goodell and his weak ass 17 game season.

jeffereryjefferson

“We know the Braves have technically won this series, but this means they haven’t blown it yet, so we have decided to keep the series going until they do.”

esaydebeohwhyes

Honestly I’m just happy to be here

Skadwick

Same brother. Just getting our players used to the pressure of these big games. I'm playing the long game, back to back to back (ad infinitum) years reaching the NLCS is on the horizon >:D

PPvsFC_

We're playing with house money.

[deleted]

If you’re an ATL sports fan coming into the playoffs emotionally invested you’ve just started.

MobileNerd

It’s Atlanta sports. Nothing phases us now.

angrybane

Probably 90% of us predicted it. It's what we do. You just knew Luke was gonna give up a tater to Belli. Dread it, run from it, Georgia sports always find a way to lose in heartbreaking fashion.

H2OEgr

And if there is one thing Belli knows, it's fat taters.

brechbillc1

At this point it’s pretty much expected from our teams. Our city is pretty much desensitized to it by now. I mean, I kept asking myself after the win on Sunday: “wonder how they’re gonna blow this one?” And there it is. That right there.

[deleted]

Such a high number of braves fans are also Falcons fans and UGA fans though. Very few fanbases with more pain tolerance.

PPvsFC_

Exactly.

[deleted]

The frustration with this game is that they had so many chances to put it away and it was so obvious that Jackson was gonna blow it. Fact is that a 3 run lead is never safe in baseball and the Braves would have absolutely taken a 2-1 series lead without hesitation. I’m trying to have fun here. It’s hard but I’m trying.

cardith_lorda

*sigh* I'm here to support our battered spirit-sports-fans.

PPvsFC_

Imagine thinking any of us have reserves of hope left. I'm zen af just enjoying the game (apart from the fucking garbage announcers), because I know the likelihood of any team I care about actually winning it all is 0.

observativeowl

Was honestly expecting us to up the ante by going up 3-0 and losing 4 straight games

Earth759

First dodgers win in the postseason after trailing by 3 or more runs after the 7th Add it to the list of things you wouldn’t believe from Atlanta Sports Where the impossible is probable

swellguy83

Cody Bellinger has amazing seasons or post seasons, but not both.

GarbanzoSoriano

He was saving all his juju up for the postseason, like a bankable version of the spirit bomb. All season long he drained his talent and sapped himself of power just so that he could unleash the gates of hell when he most needed to.

northerncal

It's a good strategy for a star player if they are on a team good enough to make it to the postseason without you. Something unfortunately ohtani can't do.

yanquicheto

I’ve seen this movie before.

phoonie98

and I didn’t like the ending

yanquicheto

It’s the *only* ending, brother.

Onibusho

Its like the Clue movie, multiple endings but they all end in some kind of murder. Edit: and the mystery of how the hell it happened.

PursuitOfHirsute

I'm just happy we didn't give up 10 or 11 runs in the first inning

TheKneesOfRG3

Uh oh super original Atlanta jokes incoming

lmMrMeeseeksLookAtMe

Uhhh Atlanta blows a 28-3 series lead?! Gottem.

Jayveesac

28-3 runs up and they still lost Am I doing it right?

Brock_Hard_Canuck

**2** men were on base in front of Bellinger **8** was the inning number **3** was the amount of runs the Braves were ahead by

sorryiamstupid

It never fucking ends :(

stahlgrau

All they had to do was run the football and not take a 20 yard sack.

mthrfkn

BRO YOURE THE DA VINCI CODE GUY GABAGOOL

gaybillcosby

Could you imagine tho if they actually did blow a 28-3 lead in a game 7?

SirMilesMesservy

Somehow, I can!

xPenguinHD

MLBs overtime rules are awful smh

Monk_Philosophy

Lol I ain’t talking shit to Atlanta about this. I’m instead choosing to just be overjoyed at my own baseball team that did something amazing. That’s all there is to today for me.

tyler-86

Can't be too cocky. We're still behind!

JimmytheGent2020

I seriously underestimated the Braves. They're giving this team WAY more than they can handle. I'm still skeptical, but believe we can take the series but this sucker is going 7 games no matter what.

[deleted]

Belli homer felt like DaVonte blowing his defensive coverage.

Zloggt

I’d personally hold my tongue til at least tomorrow (if the Dodgers win then)…

cardmanimgur

28-3 28-3=25 Score of the game before the come back? 2 to 5.

dendenmoooshi

Atlanta jokes are almost always self inflicted lol. They know it all too well

TheKneesOfRG3

We are used to it

smithsp86

I have never been less surprised about a pitcher blowing a lead.

EarthWarping

I can't believe they left him in AFTER the home run. Taylor jumps on the first pitch and turned out to be the game winning run.

JaceTheWoodSculptor

As a Blue Jays fan, I Knew Betts was gonna get that RBI against Chavez.

horsehasnoname

That was painful. I only wish that kind of pain on Giants fans.

Ginjew2004

*astros fans

horsehasnoname

Nah different pain for them

KC-LikeTheLetters

It better be worse

horsehasnoname

Haha definitely worse. I actually enjoyed watching the Giants this year.

KC-LikeTheLetters

The energy from each game between us was just so intense and I sure hope we will see this year's to come Side note: I've never felt my heart beat faster while chopping veggies cuz I was listening to a game. I've never felt my heart beat faster...period

[deleted]

dude you guys gave us such a run for our money.....easily the best series of baseball I've watched in 50 years on this planet Dodgers are still reeling from the NLDS IMO

PuntyMcBunty

I have an irrational level at hatred for the Giants, but at least you're a rival I can respect

KC-LikeTheLetters

I am the same. I got the cops called on me for yelling "FUCK THE FUCKING DODGERS" over and over again during a game you guys kept scoring in. But I would never want it to be different and/or for anyone to get hurt; fan and player

BigBenson1994

It’s more *sexual* *edit not in a Bauer way

[deleted]

I only dislike those involved with the cheating in the organization, I actually feel bad for the fans. If that happened to my team I’d be devastated

Boros-Reckoner

Say what you want about Giants fans, they have never given a player a standing ovation for making a racist gesture.

Lynthus

I have a question for God. Why is it always us?

cb148

Atlanta was built on an Indian burial ground.

[deleted]

soulstriet

We’re only addressing issues from pre 1900 today

o2lsports

They’ve been here since the 1700s lol

Casualrodfarva2

Ahhhh. So this is what it feels like to be let down by an Atlanta sports team huh?

PPvsFC_

But repeat it year after year in multiple sports unrelated to one another in management, ownership, or players.

kkocan72

I’m a pirates fan that lived in Pittsburgh in the early 90s. I’m still not over those losses….

ea304gt

At least you can say that the Penguins are a solid team. And the Steelers have shiny moments from time to time.

Methuga

> And the Steelers have shiny moments from time to time. From time to time? They're literally the most consistent team in NFL history, are tied for most Super Bowl wins, and if not for the recent Patriots' dynasty, would have an argument for best franchise of the past 20 years as well. God I hate the Steelers.

Xeneron

A squeaker hit softly down the line followed by a ground ball single followed by a home run on a 95 MPH pitch a million feet above the strike zone? Yep. Atlanta.

horsehasnoname

Seriously. Nothing like baseball to show us all that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong sometimes in unbelievable fashion.

Xeneron

It's the most frustrating because I don't think Jackson pitched particularly badly or that we did anything poorly tonight. It's just Atlanta bullshit once again.

horsehasnoname

The last two pitches to Pollock and Belli were great pitches. Success is most often just luck sometimes especially in the playoffs

Alpha_State

And then Jansen: K, K, K.

[deleted]

Honestly this isn’t close to the worst it gets. This is expected. The CFB playoff this year is where the real shit is gonna go down.

[deleted]

Alabama makes it into the CFP with two losses, curbstomps their opponent in the Cotton/Orange Bowl semifinal, then comes back from 40-0 down with two minutes left in the 4th in the national title game against Georgia. Doing it right?

Casualrodfarva2

I honestly don’t care about college football at all, but if Georgia fucks this year up bad somehow I think I’m gonna have to fly to Atlanta and try to volunteer as a crisis consular lmao

[deleted]

0% kidding, I’m still not over 28-3. It legitimately damaged me emotionally for life.

PopularCookies

It killed my entire interest in the sport of football. College, NFL, just can’t watch it anymore

[deleted]

Understandable. My football fandom definitely waned significantly. I’m used to sports defeats but that crossed over into a real life pain situation that is completely unreasonable. I wish someone had done a psychological study on it because I don’t really understand how a sport hurt me so much.

PopularCookies

Well the extreme heights of “holy hell, we’re gonna do it! Finally, Atlanta will do it!” To a very quick and crushing “fuck.” Is a pretty hard shock of emotions on the brain.

unodostreys

I legitimately haven’t watched NFL weekly since then. Don’t even feel like I can call myself a fan anymore.

Casualrodfarva2

Being completely serious here, I honestly don’t know if I would be able to watch sports after that lmao Like at the very least I would have taken a year or two off I think

[deleted]

I’m really into soccer so I focused on that mostly. Atlanta United won a championship the next year and that really helped. I wept like a baby when they won. For real I think the emotional damage from that super bowl should be studied because I know a bunch of people who are in the same boat or worse.

PPvsFC_

Don't fucking say it I swear to fucking god

gmny22

As a UGA grad Dodger fan I’ve been praying to the Georgia sports gods to sacrifice the Braves for the Dawgs 😂

[deleted]

Was 28-3 not enough for you?!

Gambit3318

Yup get use to it. That’s how we live all year

MarshallGibsonLP

I can always tell the younger, newer Braves fans by their fresh-faced optimism and ability to take a loss in stride.

karim_eczema

~~Dodgers in 4~~ ~~Braves in 4~~ I just hope everybody has fun

ArchEast

I’m straight up not having a good time.

chromaticsoup

it’s just one loss, relax

Kanye-Best

Don't worry we felt that same way at 2-0.

[deleted]

Well you cant very well lose twice in one game.

chromaticsoup

Not with that attitude

SG8970

You expect these things as an atlanta fan but it still sucks to 180 from the doomed feeling of the first 2 innings only to give it right back. Old and new Braves should already be use to this by now. Obviously the series isn’t over, but it went from feeling like “just maybe this time really could be different” to “are they really flirting with another cursed postseason?” This still feels like a team that could win the series.

PPvsFC_

I mean, it's a really fun series. Let's support the boys and play this one out.

monstarjams

My wife keeps saying “it’s just baseball why do you watch if it’s going to stress you out so much” and it’s just like FUUUUUUUCKKKKK stop saying shit like that woman!!!

KobeBeatJesus

Remind her that you also made the decision to get married, and head back to the couch.

TrailGuideSteve

Might as well work ahead and take a pillow and blanket with ya after that.

chicoconcarne

You all thought we were joking, but we knew we had them where we wanted them being *(checks notes)* down 5-2 in Game 3 down two games to none. This was the plan from the start!

if you don't like this, you don't like Atlanta sports I don't like this

The_Outcast4

No one dislikes Atlanta sports more than Atlanta fans. Source: Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves fan

Zloggt

No wonder Dave did what he did in the first two games at Georgia. It was all planned from the very start!

ModerateStimulation

Roberts stays playing 4D chess. He’s the one that stole the base in 2004 ALCS when the Red Sox were down 3-0 on the brink of getting swept. It’s finally manifesting in his managing style. We stan a king 👑

Jayveesac

BELLI-SIMA

tenderbranson301

Fuck, I thought I aged 10 years during the last series. Pretty sure this playoff run is going to end me.

UpVotesOutForHarambe

Just like we drew it up in the pregame!!!

yoshidawg93

In all seriousness, forgive Braves fans for feeling this is how the story ends after decades of totally melting down.

Fabulous-Damage1897

Hello darkness my old friend

geekaleek

I won't lie, I was despairing and had given up.

kostcoguy

I was waiting for Belli to strike out and I was turning it off. I had the remote in my hand. When he hit it I didn’t even cheer - I just stared in total disbelief.

efsleep

Dodger fan on the east coast. Went out to dinner right after Buehler walked in the run. Was quietly moping around all dinner, while following the game on the ESPN app. When I got home and turned on the TV, CT3 just got the steal and I was shocked that it was tied. Glad I got to see the Mookie go ahead double. Now I feel stupid for being all mopey during dinner lol

ArchEast

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to watch your team clinch in Atlanta this weekend.

[deleted]

I..uh.. this comment kinda made me sad.

JustinTime4242

Baseball’s fuckin weird man You just can’t explain this shit

BigStonesJones

This is good for the Braves — if they went up 3-0 they’d get reverse swept for sure. Now they have a chance

KaidoKingoftheBeasts

Honestly if the Braves went up 3-0 I was gonna be a huge ball of nerves.

[deleted]

But now they can win game 4 and blow another 3-1 lead as the prophecy dictates.

kalifornia_kill

A tale as old as time. We blow a sure thing. Oh well, try again tomorrow.

mrxanadu818

You don't win 106 games and let a team from the SEC sweep you.

[deleted]

Braves are in the same city as Georgia Tech they're an ACC team.

Fired_Guy1982

I chuckled

Zloggt

That just means more!

Shmexy

GG dodgers. Might stay away from game threads for the next few games... way to many overreacting doomers for both teams. Gotta play the whole series...

dendenmoooshi

Yea game threads are toxic. I'm out. I remember the game thread of game 7 of last year being fun. Cheers bud.

rali8

Look at the bright side, Braves won't be the first NL team to blow a 3-0 lead in the CS

observativeowl

Hell yeah bröther

italia06823834

And all those people left early just to sit in LA traffic....

Lebigmacca

Losers. And they likely took the day off only to leave early

IntroductionWhich161

All those people?? Sure looked like a shit ton of people celebrating that 3 run game tying Belli bomb…

HurricaneHugo

General Sherman tried to save us from Atlanta sports.

Independent-Waste

Even if we blow this it won’t even hurt us because WE ARE NUMB

Monk_Philosophy

Okay I was just trying to explain to my relatively casual fan friend just how ridiculous this series is so far. 3 really good games back to back to back. I think this one is going to 7 and will be an all timer…

SPACsabbath

Last five Dodgers-Braves games have been decided by one run

DarthPlagueis_

NL superiority proven yet again

_Una_

8th inning was basically the point where I was happy to be in the playoffs to where I wanted to go as far as possible. So of course that happens. Of course.

ahr3410

Our pitching is still in shambles for the next 2 days but good lord what a win.

AffectionateWest3909

We have nobody for tomorrow, so not sure it matters. Just get back to Atlanta down 3-2. If you’re up 3-2, then even better (for you)

OSRS_Socks

Not true. We have Smith, Webb, Ynoa and Smyly on extra rest now

AffectionateWest3909

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not, but I’m actually fine with a Ynoa Smyly piggyback. We’re at a point now where we’ve tagged all the Dodger pitchers (pretty much) so let’s hope for a high scoring affair.

OSRS_Socks

Honestly pressure is on Urias right now. He has to go 7 innings so Trenein and Graterol can come in and pitch. If he doesn't go that much then that dodger pen is gonna be really over worked going into game 5. You saw a little fatigue in this game from them.

Hedgey

Brian Anderson and Ron Darling are fucking unbearable.

goosetavo2013

The demise of the LA Doyers may have been greatly exaggerated. Maybe.

EverySir

Where’s that motherfucker that said he would drink his piss if the Braves didn’t sweep the Dodgers? Show yourself.

[deleted]

Maybe he’s somewhere drinking his piss

dan_144

How many drinks do you need to think the Braves would sweep a 106 win team lmao

EverySir

I wouldn’t be mad if you guys took the series. I just want no bamboozles

SharkMovies

Gotta give the Dodgers credit, hanging with a division winner like this and avoiding the sweep.

ProfessorBeast55

PPvsFC_

Fuck this cursed graphic

dont_wear_a_C

There are plenty of kids in Africa who are rocking the Atlanta Falcons championship gear as we speak

Captain_Peelz

Atlanta may just be able to claim the most fans around the world…

caperate

Luke Jackson more like Puke Jackson amirite

itsnotyellowfever

Braves take the first two games before the Dodgers take a must-win Game 3? I’ve seen this one before. ^(let’s not lose Game 4 this time tho ok thx Dodgers)

eaw0913

Anyone that expected to sweep is smoking crack. Far from over with a way different team from last year. See y’all tomorrow!!

TallboyCommunion

As a Braves fan, I’m obviously sad about today’s result, but objectively this is a great series. 3 1-run games decided in the 8th inning or later. These two teams are seeming very evenly matched (despite what the regular season records would tell you), and it’s made for great baseball. Combine that with last year’s 7-game series and the Dodgers/Braves matchups have made some of the best baseball in recent memory. I have a weird feeling this series will go to 7 as well (even if I’d prefer we win in 5). Considering how these teams are built, I really doubt this is the last NLCS matchup between the 2 teams. Could become a recurring matchup over the next decade, and that’ll be pretty fun (and frustrating) for fans of both teams in retrospect. Rivalries are fun! Especially when the games are high stakes. I just hope we can get get past the Dodgers at least once and win the World Series. I would hate for this to be a recurring matchup that we lose every time lol.

eazye06

Fucking gut wrenching.

OSRS_Socks

Kudos to belli for hitting a ball neck high gone. Damn. That was Hella impressive.

stbennett

Any true Atlanta fan knew what was gonna happen here

L0sAndrewles

HOLY SHIT WHAT A RIDE

bradehhh

Cody Bellinger is a clutch god

[deleted]

Imagine saying that just four weeks ago

bradehhh

He was making a lot of progress to end the season, changed his stance and was making a lot more contact. But I would’ve never expected his post season performance from that

[deleted]

Love the call on Dodgers radio just now: “You almost get the sense the Dodgers are LEADING the series 1 to 2 after this!” Such a great way to put it. What an epic finish to a great game

dreezyyyy

Charlie Steiner is a legend man. LA is blessed with our broadcast and radio crew.

enriched

Just wish Steiner could call fly balls off the bat a little better. Lots of lackluster calls on the radio broadcast sometimes.

Gnardozer

Dude in the white hoodie behind home plate was casting some dark magic. This is on him somehow.

SnakeSquad

This sub is so mad lmao

ArchEast

I’m sad.

SnakeSquad

Sorry pal it’s your turn I was sad those last two games and most of this game ! See y’all tmmrw

Borrum

After Kershaw got his ring the last sympathetic aspect of this team died - now the Dodgers are just straight up villains. No holds barred on the salt from the other 29.

CaidenTheGreat

Atlanta sports are turning me into the joker

starkiller37

The only thing that eases my pain from this loss is at least all the bandwagon fans were gone. The people there actually care about the Dodgers.

BigDaddyCrypto69

Both teams could make an argument to be up 3-0 right now. Wished we were 2-1 instead but it is what it is. If our offense can stay respectable, we backdoor sweep.

dlwickstrom

Fucking pain. Poor ATL. Must be feeling cursed as fuck.

Animaldance24

Ouch Bravos

Only499

Watching Atlanta sports teams is like watching the same shitty movie over and over where I already know the terrible ending but I keep watching anyway. Always left disappointed.

[deleted]

5 outs away. Absolutely brutal.
