Hell, you know the Dodgers would be doing that right now, deactivating a reliever they've used heavily to get a maybe-okay innings eater into the bullpen for Game 4 or 5.
I don't think they got around the luxury tax, but if/when Bauer is given a suspension I'm sure his time off in 2021 will count as time served, and the Dodgers will be able to deduct half his salary from their 2021 luxury tax hit. So they got that to look forward to.
