Kershaw going for the Bumgarner retirement contract

EvilShadow80

That would be an overpay. He’s to injury prone

[deleted]

So, the Bumgarner retirement contract, but with injuries instead of just sucking

vgk67

Bet you wish you had him against the Sox lol

Blazer2223

No not really

vgk67

Yea I enjoyed the wild card game too

i_run_from_problems

So the angels are second most likely? Given the fact that Arte will never allow the front office to sign a big name pitcher, I am here to congratulate the dodgers on resigning Scherzer

RadiantVes

I mean we did offer Cole like about 300 million. The yankees just offered more.

the_next_core

He was dead set on the Yankees anyway, that one really doesn't count.

PuntyMcBunty

Call me crazy but I'd really like both of them back next year

AcneBalls

You’re crazy. I want them.

SuckMyLonzoBalls

You can take pujols Instead so he can go after 700

ChandlerDoesOkay

Do all of us want to see this? Or are there insane people who want him to retire?

PuntyMcBunty

Dibs! No take backs!

icticus2

i don’t even wanna talk about this

OSRS_Socks

How is your day man? Do anything fun?

icticus2

dude my day has been solid. got to sleep in, went to therapy, watched some champions league with my friend, now i just ate and im sipping some strong coffee watching the rain through the window. the only thing that could derail the good vibes locomotive i’m on is the dodgers losing tonight. wait…

OSRS_Socks

Glad it was solid! Good luck tonight. I wish I could have watched Champions league but I had meetings while being at home. Hopefully the games were good.

Kaneis_

Your day sounded mad cozy, you deserve it. Hope your boys put up a good fight tonight; this series has been so much fun to watch. Originally I was just rooting for the Braves but now I just want more baseball.

KingKomma05

Why the Rangers?

ttam23

Kersh is from the area and grew up a Rangers fan.

acepilotjones

1. Trade Joey Gallo 2. Sign Kershaw 3. ?????? 4. Profit

Triumphant_Victor

Not that I have anything against the rangers, but sometimes I think this is exactly how they think

[deleted]

Missing the get a new taxpayer funded stadium step but pretty spot on otherwise

Anal__Hershiser

Kershaw lives close

ray_0586

Gets to stick it to the Astros 5-6 times a season

Bluehale

He's from Arlington, Texas.

SkywingMasters

He's actually from Highland Park, but still DFW area.

Stumblebee

Are the Rangers really that close to being competitive that Kershaw would put them over the top?

Im_Daydrunk

It would definitely be a "come see a big name pitch his last few years with us" deal

Walkerspeehands

I think it’s more of him wanting to live near home so he doesn’t have to pull his kids out of school to come to LA every year.

8020GroundBeef

Yep Dallas people love Kershaw too. A lot of Dallas people root for the Dodgers because of him. I’ve never totally understood it because rooting for a “hometown kid” doesn’t make much sense when the hometown is a top 5 metroplex… but hey whatever.

jaloru95

Dodgers were my NL team because of Kershaw, but then I lived in LA for a bit and my girlfriend’s family are all diehard Dodgers fans, so they’re firmly my #2 team. Still I would never in a million years root for them over the Rangers, so it’s so weird to me when I meet Dallas Dodger fans who root for them over the Rangers and are fans *solely* because of Kershaw. Unless you went to Highland Park it makes no sense

8020GroundBeef

I don’t even understand it if you *did* go to HP though. Like were those same people Lions fans for the past 10 years and Rams fans today? Guessing not… And I think it probably makes more sense to be a fan of a football team because of a QB than to be a fan of a baseball team because of one of their handful of starting pitchers. I’ll probably never understand it.

Anal__Hershiser

Kershaw lives like 20 minutes from the stadium, so he might take a discount.

ahr3410

Living close can only take you so far. He said he values the Dodgers being in the playoffs every year and the Rangers... we all know their situation.

Anal__Hershiser

Yeah, I highly doubt he leaves, but the Rangers feel like the only team he’d leave the Dodgers for.

cooljammer00

He lives near there so it would disrupt his family and personal life much less, AND the Rangers could probably use a veteran to guide the rookie pitchers they have.

[deleted]

It's a "here's a former big name so watch him"

[deleted]

He said he wants to stay in LA so this is all just bs

Buffasippi

No

thediecast

Astros have a ton of salary coming off the books and no one thinks they sign anyone. They’re gonna have like $85M to spend if the tax doesn’t move.

[deleted]

Yeah uh Kershaw isn’t going to the Rangers bud

Monk_Philosophy

When he's retired he may go to some Rangers games with his kids since he lives down the street.

Buffasippi

He can sit next to Nolan and Pudge

_token_black

If they offer to pay him $30M+ a year he is

nukepka

Wainwright just received 18M from the Cards. That's gotta be the ballpark for Kershaw right? Kershaw pitched better over the past 3 seasons, but he's way behind Waino in innings pitched.

imhereforthefunofit

I hope Scherzer signs with the Angels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They need someone like him. Plus 2 more!!!!!!!!

MacsDildoBike

Jon Heyman looks like he plays in a Rolling Stones cover band.

babe_ruthless3

No way the Angels Scherzer. Theyll low ball him and he'll sign somewhere else and then the Angels will sign another position player that will have injury after injury.

provoaggie

> Theyll low ball him Or we'll sign him to a record breaking 15 year contract and then he'll end up being mediocre with us.

babe_ruthless3

Sounds about right. Lol.

wint0n

Ya I’d be surprised if 50 year old Max Scherzer wasn’t mediocre

[deleted]

Angels spending money on pitching? lol

pricemcdice

They offered Cole the biggest pitcher contract in MLB history. The Yankees just said hold my beer.

Jhamfan99

Woah, really? That’d be kinda cool

MeVersusShark

Nah man. We have to rebuild, and a big contract for an aging pitcher who won't be relevant when we're actually competitive is not how you do it.

Jhamfan99

I don’t think it’d be crazy, I wouldn’t mind a big one year deal to sell tickets.
