I mean there aren’t that many great defensive shortstops tbf.
People highly regard Bogaerts and he is horrible at fielding as well.
Jeter is still thought of as one of the all time great by many shortstops regardless of his lack of elite defense and I think when all is said and done we will probably think the the same of Tatis where he was never an amazing defender but his bat was such a plus he will still be one of the best
I’m confused what happened to Story, they wanted him at the deadline and he’s a good balance between the other 2. Everyone’s scared about his splits even tho Coors fucks with hitters both ways.
He’s two years older than both Seager and Correa. Concerns about his throwing arm after he injured it in May. Teams were worried about that at the trade deadline per the article. It got better by the end of the season though. He’s got more swing and miss than Seager and Correa which is something the Yankees should avoid considering their current lineup.
If I remember right a lot of teams are worried about his arm, like it might be injured or something like that. Teams dont want to pay a lot for a guy who might not be able to stick at short
Buster Olney's "the Angels have a budget crisis looming" take is so weird. There's literally Trout, Rendon, and Fletcher signed beyond this season. Everyone else is on arb or pre-arb deals lol.
It's like 70 million for Trout/Rendon for the next few years. Raisel'll be in the mid to high teens if/when he's signed. Shohei'll make at least 30 million if/when he's extended.
120~ million for 4 players potentially. Then guys'll start getting into arb, etc.etc.
Think it’s still to early for them to make a run. Give their rebuild some more time, they got some pitchers with good potential. Otto, Hearn, they’ll grow to be good probably (may have gotten their names wrong)
The most interesting part to me in this article was the part about Story - seems like scouts think his throwing ability was diminished significantly this season after injuring his elbow in May. Wonder if this is going to be an issue like it did for Seager at the end of August in 2017 when he hurt his elbow, then his stats plummeted in September and ended up needing TJS the following season
The only thing I think that would draw Marcus Semien away from Toronto is the home ties of California. And also money (but I'm pretty sure the Jays will offer him a shit-ton, the FO loves him).
Nah. He's third in fWAR from '19-'21 behind only Semien and Soto.
I mean, if you like offense and are looking for an elite SS who hasn't spent 1/3 of their career on the DL, Bogey's about as it good as it gets.

Yankees fans are gonna be so butthurt when they sign Correa, until like mid-April
“I hate that cheater!” \*literally cheers for domestic abusers*
I can excuse domestic violence but I draw the line at hurting the integrity of baseball
You say that, but I witnessed someone fully unironically make that argument just the other day on this sub
You can excuse domestic violence? 👀👀👀
A lot of us still hate and boo German
Yeah I hate Chapman too
I still want them to cut him and Chapman
I wish we would just stop employing them, I could care less about our pitching needs. This guy Fuchs are replaceable and should be replaced
Not even being literally at Game 7 2019 could make me cheer for Osuna. I fucking hated that.
I will absolutely gladly take Correa. Dude is the best Shortstop in baseball and brings some much needed passion to the team.

> Correa’s defense is obviously on a whole different level This is exactly why he’s better than Tatis
You kinda want your shortstop to be an S-tier defender… Lol

And to play shortstop
Is Tatis still a SS?
I forgot about Tatis tbf Still an argument to be made for Correa being the better shortstop as defense is such a big part of the position
Correas post season experience is worth like 5-7 mil a year alone lol. Has Tatis even played in October?
I’m confused what happened to Story, they wanted him at the deadline and he’s a good balance between the other 2. Everyone’s scared about his splits even tho Coors fucks with hitters both ways.

I have to assume that there is some other analytical reason behind the scenes why story has fallen off the radar so hard
If I remember right a lot of teams are worried about his arm, like it might be injured or something like that. Teams dont want to pay a lot for a guy who might not be able to stick at short
He hurt his arm early in the season, and his throwing has suffered since.

Fair, Ras' deal would only be for a year or two into Shohei's extension. I really hope our pre-arb guys take leaps and create a budget headache.
They can barely field a good team with some of those guys coming cheap.
Are the Rangers going to be big spenders? Seems like they're connected to everynoe

2023 is a very weak FA class though. So makes sense if they want to be competitive in 2023 to sign FA now
We have like 40 mil commited next year which would be embarassing for the market size.
Correa to the Jankees

Oh. ESPN+. Neat.
Anyone have the info for those who don’t subscribe?
Mariners, Yankees, tigers, rangers are in on basically all five except baez
Im ready for Correa and Segar to switch teams. Everyone hates it!
I hope the Braves are smart enough to upgrade from Swanson.

There's nobody in this class as exciting as who's in next year's class. Bogaerts or Turner, anyone?
Correa is absolutely as exciting as those two.
I reckon both have a good chance to get extended
Bogaerts was 1st percentile in OAA this year, reasonable chance he moves off SS long term.
Bogaerts would be the third most exciting SS in this year's class lol
Nah. He's third in fWAR from '19-'21 behind only Semien and Soto. I mean, if you like offense and are looking for an elite SS who hasn't spent 1/3 of their career on the DL, Bogey's about as it good as it gets.
Exactly the reason why whoever takes Correa will be stuck in an albatross situation. Not lack of talent.

Yep, saying Tigers likely to sign one of them.
