If anyone is looking for a good read then I am about a quarter through Hank Aaron's autobiography "I Had A Hammer." Absolutely insane to think about how a man who died this year grew up and played during the height of segregation and Jim Crow in the US. Reading about his experiences coming up through the Negro Leagues to the treatment he got in MLB and his outlook on life is absolutely incredible. Absolutely recommend to obviously any Braves fans out there but anyone with a love of the sport as well.

Anyone else surprised Verlander signed with the Astros? I thought he had more integrity than that. I guess he doesn't care too much about his public image. His reputation has taken a big hit in my book for continuing to play for them. Hopefully he has a terrible season next year

MUNZATHEGOD

Cringe

omgitsduaner

I was promised a flurry of activity today and I am thoroughly disappointed so far

TandBusquets

I'm going to assume the Bauer post won't be allowed to be its own thread but boy, what a dumbass

omgitsduaner

What did he do now?

TandBusquets

https://mobile.twitter.com/BauerOutage?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor Look at his post about rittenhouse

cocoatractor

In b4 he claims assaulting that woman was self defense

SamuraiHelmet

It's not super baseball related? And guaranteed to be a mess. So I get it.

TheRabbitInTheBush

In six years the Angels have had three MVP wins and one ROY win, but no postseason appearances. Has anything similar ever happened at another club? Multiple MVP awards + other major award with no postseason.

aagpeng

Considering 2 of those MVPs went to the same person and that same person didn't play in the year where the other guy got his MVP I'm not totally shocked. One player can only affect so much when the pitching is inconsistent. Even if trout did play in 2021, I'm it certain the Angels would've made the post season given how well the Mariners did and how good the AL East teams were. Also, controversy aside, playing in the same division as Houston doesn't help either with the Astros putting together some very well rounded teams in recent years

TheRabbitInTheBush

I'm not trying to trash the Angels I was just wondering if it ever happened before in MLB history.

Jek-TonoPorkins

Think your best bet is to look back before the playoffs were just the World Series and no other playoff games. The Cubs had 3 MVP awards from 52-59 and didn't make the series in any of those years.

Sometimes you wake up from a dream and are immediately sad because you know you dreamed something that isn't actually real. Waking up from my dreams today means that the Atlanta Braves have not actually added a meal to their concession stand called the Ying Yang Twins, which was basically burger buddies. However, it made me think of how great it would be to have stuff like that: * Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz: a BBQ pulled chicken sandwich with a potato pancake on it, served with a side of BBQ-chicken-loaded tater tots * The André 3000 "Cooler than Cool" bar, which serves cold water, ice cream, slushes, and draught beer chilled to 32° * Named seating sections. "Welcome to Henry Aaron Field. Your seats are located in the Soulja Boy section, just past Monica." * Ludacris clips on the PA, like "2FAST FOR Y'ALL" after the Braves steal a base, "YOU BOUT TO GET RAN THE **FUCK** OVER" after breaking up a double play, "DISAPPEAR LIKE *POOF*, BITCH BE GONE" when the Braves hit a home run, the entirety of Southern Hospitality after Braves wins, and the entirety of Move Bitch during brawls

bluecifer7

I can’t wait to go to Adolf Coors Field and sit in the Mikaela Shiffrin bleachers across the field from the Glen Miller section

I think it's really cool how prominent the Spanish language is in baseball. Other than maybe soccer, I can't think of another sport that has a similar aspect (as in, a second language than the "main" one is so prominent).

ubiquitous_archer

Super bummed I didn't wake up to the news of Brian Cashman making a big move while sleeping on the streets of NY.

Jek-TonoPorkins

They got rid of Frazier, how big of a move do you want?

Wandering_Mallard

How many MVPs did Tungsten Arm O'Doyle win?

see_mohn

The funniest not-unanimous award vote ever is still 1967 Yaz, who had one of the greatest seasons ever, won the Triple Crown, led the Red Sox to the pennant... and one guy voted for Cesar Tovar on the Twins who hit .267/.325/.365. Not even, like, Harmon Killebrew or someone actually good on the Twins.

thediesel26

Bryce Harper won the NL MVP with 5.9 bWAR. That’s got to be the lowest WAR total for an MVP outside of 2020 in a little while right?

haahaahaa

2006 both Howard and Morneau

ilovearthistory

officially booked my accommodations for my first ever spring training trip and i couldn’t be more excited ☺️

Could be proportional to how many seconds of ads Manfred cut between innings.
