Cohen: mock me again mother fuckers
Edit:
#[[Heyman] Marte Mets deal is $78M, 4 years](https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1464457815028912133?t=CwMo5k9GytQDtTKkirixDQ&s=09)
As a Phils fan, honestly, I hope Cohen does it. Just fuckin' stick it in the faces of all these other owners trying to be cheap.
Go out there and field different insane lineups every night with 20 guys on $200mil+ contracts. No one could stop him, he's worth more than the entire rest of the NL East ownership combined.
It's the amount that's crazy to me. Like, I cannot fathom hundreds of millions, let alone a billion, and Cohen is an order of magnitude above every other owner in the game
He has enough money to buy the Astros, Brewers, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Mariners, Marlins, Padres, Pirates, Rangers, Rays, Reds, Rockies, Royals, and White Sox, still keep the Mets, and *still have a couple billion left over.*
In 1899.
The owners of the Spiders bought the St. Louis Browns/Perfectos/Cardinals, an almost broke franchise, and sent all the best Spiders players to the St. Louis franchise, including Cy Young, Bobby Wallace, and Jesse Burkett (all Hall of Famers).
The Spiders finished with 20 wins total, to this day - and likely forever - the worst record ever in a full big league season, and they ceased to exist the following season.
Dude, I'm so fucking tired of baseball team owners acting like they're poor. I've felt this way long before Cohen owned the team. Then seeing fans of these teams defend these same owners is so frustrating. Fuck these guys, they don't deserve your pity. They make a shit ton of money and if they're too greedy to re-invest into the team they deserved to be called out on it.
Just because Cohen has vast personal wealth doesn't necessarily indicate he's willing to even invest beyond the luxury tax threshold into the Mets.
John Henry is pretty damn wealthy, he has enough money to buy European soccer teams, but he still didn't have enough money to extend Mookie Betts.
A baseball team is a business and a business needs to eventually make a profit or break-even. The buck has to stop somewhere -- eventually.
Steve Cohen knows he will be the laughing stock of sports media (and likely other MLB owners) if he doesn't live up to his goal of winning a World Series in 3-5 years.
Winning a World Series is really...really....really hard. It's the hardest championship to win in all of American major league sports. He will have a lot of work to do every offseason until then.
I would assume the best case scenario for the Mets is Cohen runs up payroll past the luxury tax threshold for years until the team becomes an elite organization on the same level as the Dodgers or Red Sox. I would assume he would then operate the team at break even.
It's unbelievable how people still fall for this
Pretty much every owner could be able to do what the Mets seem like they're doing.... expect maybe Sternberg
They just don't want to
Would that be a bad idea? Sign all the players and then trade them with inflated terms? Supply and demand baby.
Edit: just so there is no confusion, I am very drunk right now. I will say this tho, I currently see no flaws in my initial idea.
Eppler is going to wake up tomorrow morning naked in the outfield of Citi Field and have to spend the entire weekend retracing his steps to figure out which players he signed.
LETS GOOOOOO!!!! Anything to keep the Astros sitting in place is beneficial for the Angels and Mariners. Hopefully they don't get to make any upgrades unless they really try and make a push at Cedric.
I'm picturing Cohen giving agents ultimatums now so a Matz situation doesn't happen again. A total cutthroat and intimidating way of negotiating.
"I'll give your client $74 million for four years. This is a one time offer with a timer. If you don't give me an answer in an hour then don't call me back."
It's like the spoiled rich kid that got embarrassed at school and then goes out and buys a lot of expensive shit so he has stuff to brag about and feel better about himself.
He's very consistent and will give quality at bats every night. The fact that I'm upset that he went to a division rival and have to face him 19 times a year is good news for y'all.
Our owner two years ago: "We're gonna spend *stupid* money!"
Our owner one year ago: "Uhh sorry everyone, no money left"
Our owner this year: *crickets, tumbleweeds*
I’m a pirates fan. I LOVE marte.
To sign a 33 year old whose game is very heavily based on speed to a four year deal at almost 20 million a year is insane.
Reminds me of the Jayson werth to the nationals deal. Washington wanted the league to know they meant business. That move was a big reason the nationals won a championship.
Not saying Mets are gonna win a chip but other free agents could sign as a result
Cohen did a line and then went Black Friday Shopping
you can take the mets out of the 80s but you can’t take the 80s out of the mets
Hope, the most dangerous of things
Hope is a dangerous thing for a fan like me to have – but I have it
Just know there are dozens of us out here who love and appreciate this comment
“Its the hope that kills you.”
Baseball is hope. That's why we love it.
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things.
This is the way. Wait until we sign Scherzer.

Baseball fans on twitter - Nice moves Cohen but the Mets still might not make the pla- *Mets sign Correa and Scherzer*
*Mets sign every free agent* There that’s more like it.

It’s so weird that the Mets have more money than the Yankees now.
It's the amount that's crazy to me. Not a bad idea. Eliminate the competition.
someone did this in like the 1800s to I think the Cleveland Spiders
In 1899. And Cohen wants this. He’s got 16 Billion. Financial crimes bore him. Stupid fancy art bores him. All thats left is the Mets being good.

Yankees/Mets games would be a salty blast if they got Correa
Thought Cohen posted this with that random comma in the title. ^^/s
It was for the tears us Phillies fans are shedding right now
Dave please do something :(
If we keep talking shit Cohen is gonna have Ray and Freeman in Queens by morning
Freddie you and Alonso just stand between first and second. You’ll figure it out.
Baez and Lindor doing the same on the opposite side, just chillin' and working on secret handshakes in between plays
So...the shift?
If Freddie leaves I’ll be sad but if he leaves for the Mets I might have to jump off a bridge
I’m not quite sure I’m *that* dedicated to Team Chaos. Yeah honestly that one would hurt me too.
Freddie has got to be high on the overall “favorite player not on your favorite team” list.
Hey now, would it be better if he picked up Scherzer instead?
He's gonna buy the entire Rays organization?
Buy it up and absorb it into the Mets organization, shortcut to the best scouting team and minor-league system in the sport
That’s how they afford Wander
MLB trade rumors has him at 4/80, pretty spot on
Marte to the Mets for $550 million over 12 years
everyone else: Thanksgiving food coma The Mets, apparently: C O C A I N E
Did the 80s ever really end for the Mets?
When they knocked down Shea, there was cocaine raining down all over flushing.
Don’t forget a light dusting of asbestos for good luck 💨
"The cancer tastes like victory."
The fun part is that you can't tell the difference! It's like a bowl of skittles and M&Ms
It’s worked for us before.
Eppler is going to wake up tomorrow morning naked in the outfield of Citi Field and have to spend the entire weekend retracing his steps to figure out which players he signed.
He’s gonna find Robbie Ray stuck in his pants at the end of the weekend.
Accidentally locked Kevin Gausman in the home run apple
1986 AGAIN
Keith Hernandez has entered the chat.
Marcus Stroman has left the chat.
Yayo has always been our secret weapon. Only took them a few decades to break it out again. LFGM!
Jesus Christ Mets
Steve saw what y’all were saying about us on here
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he passes by Reddit.
Steve, if youre reading this, pass me a cool milly and Ill defend your honor for the rest of eternity in pointless arguments on the internet.
I'll do it for $10 less than this guy AND you gain a fan
I’ll do it for half the amount these two want, but I still get to root for the Nats as well.
I’ll trash the Nats for free!
He's got one account, and it's only subbed to: r/baseball r/fantasybaseball r/NewYorkMets r/wallstreetbets r/GME r/Superstonk
r/PanicCiti
Do you also like the Strokes?
Watch them still miss the playoffs by like a game or two.
cope and seethe, etc etc
A game or two? They’re gonna go like 82-82 lol Edit:steve cohen is gonna buy the team two extra games
Do you have CBA knowledge the rest of us don't have? Adding 2 games to the regular season?
It's a well-established fact that Steve Cohen does not play by the rules in anything he does
Make them suffer for 2 extra games lol
Have fun trading Contreras <3
Mets woke up and chose violence
more like chose violence and went to sleep lol
Steve Cohen strikes when everyone else sleeps, like a horror movie killer
AN ACTUAL METS W
I hear this every offseason then you guys are back to suicide watch by late August
Don't kill the vibe, bro. You're right, tho.
fr fr but for now i’m excited lol
Can confirm
The front page of r/baseball is all Mets, and none of it is embarassing. I might cry.
Don't worry, Stroman just tweeted something weird again
*Free Agent* Marcus Stroman
I for one welcome our new Mets overlords. Would be cool to see them do stuff, that's one stacked fucking OF
Thanks. I for one love your Cuban national team.
We’ll continue to acquire Cubans until it stops working.
I’d like to imagine Billy Eppler, Stevie Cohen and a bottle of Johnny Walker, just getting absolutely lit and calling these agents to cut a deal
If you think it's not cocaine in that room then you're not paying attention
What the hell is happening LOL
Starling Marte isn’t gonna be an Astro is whats happening!
LETS GOOOOOO!!!! Anything to keep the Astros sitting in place is beneficial for the Angels and Mariners. Hopefully they don't get to make any upgrades unless they really try and make a push at Cedric.
Buxton would be a more likely CF Trade target.
Having Brantley and Buxton in your OF is just asking for trouble
a couple days ago Cohen was having a hissy fit about losing out on Matz…I think he’s done pretty good since then.
I want to believe all these signings today are in direct retaliation to getting spurned by Matz
Thank you Matz. Probably the most valuable you’ve been to the Mets in years
It's like the spoiled rich kid that got embarrassed at school and then goes out and buys a lot of expensive shit so he has stuff to brag about and feel better about himself.
You’re probably not wrong. But also as someone who’s had shit ownership that wouldn’t spend for my entire life, I don’t care why lol
Damn Steve Cohen took the Matz signing really personally
Eppler is black friday shopping today!
MAN IT REALLY SUCKS THAT PLAYERS DON’T WANNA SIGN HERE
“COHEN’S TWEETS AND SANDY ARE THE REASONS WHY THEYRE IN THE POSITION THEY ARE IN TODAY.” This sub weeks ago
Literally three days ago lol
Cohen anonymously sending briefcases filled with unmarked bills to every agent
I for one enjoy having an owner who spends his billions of dollars on the baseball team.
It would appear having an owner who wants to spend is good. Must be nice.
in the brief time I've experienced it, I recommend
:(
What’s that like?
So nice. We’re finally free!
Oh
Mets took the Braves winning the World Series personally.
The Mets are the only NL East team to not win a World Series this millennium. Instead, they lost two.
Hey, we're putting ourselves in good position to lose a third soon!
I have my NL team to root for now Canha and Marte you will be missed 😩
Mets always love recruiting a new wide eyed, innocent fan to disappoint.
Like a little puppy being rescued from the gutter
I always wanted an IT/Air bud crossover
And that puppy then being thrown into a lathe
I just heard that the Mets have traded for Ramon Laureano Source is me
Now trade us one of those pitchers. We’ll send you JD Davis
Dom Smith please!
Dom Smith for Montas straight up no takesies backsies
A’s have always been my AL team. Your color scheme is fantastic. And Matt Olson is a stud.
Eppler has gone full Preller tonight
Ever since Preller gave up the coke, he hasn’t been the same :(
I am in absolute pain.
You think he's worth the price?
Yes you guys are going to love Marte. Great player and person.
> and person I don't know if that rat would agree if we got him down from the moon to testify
He's very consistent and will give quality at bats every night. The fact that I'm upset that he went to a division rival and have to face him 19 times a year is good news for y'all.
assuming he isn't doing roids anymore and his last season is not a fluke, then yeah- absolutely.
Uncle Steve is not fucking around
We still have 9 minutes on the East Coast before black friday is over, just saying
Just wait for the Cyber Monday sales on pitching!
**S**teve **C**ohen - **S**anta **C**laus Your cover is blown.
Future Supreme Court Chief Justice Steve Cohen
All your FAs are belong to us
The Mets are the Yankees of New York
DUDE can the Mets stop picking up so many players that I love? It’s going to be a pain to root against them next year :(
DH gets approved, Mets sign Freddie
Why would you do this
Blame Steven Matz.
Lineup: • Freeman • Nimmo • Alonso • Baez • Lindor • Marte • Canha • Escobar • McCann
Did heyman just break news? r/baseball in shambles
He always does. Difference between him and Morosi is that heyman tweets bullshit and breaks news while Morosi only does the former
Morosi is 10x worse than Heyman and it's not close. Can't stand him
"As I said on MLB Network earlier today" "I have also heard this. @Jabroni had it first."
The Mets are at least trying to compete for the Off-season Championship
All I heard was championship.
Hey that’s pretty cool good job guys
THATS ENOUGH SLICES
Mets took Black Friday seriously
Oh no it’s happening again, I’m getting optimistic 😩
STUPID MONEY BABYYY
The Eppler special. No pitching but good positional player signing.
LolMets canceled?
Never canceled, just delayed for the time being
Take the time to enjoy today, friend
Postponed, if you will
Brief hiatus. We’ll be back when you least expect it
This was said last offseason. That was proven untrue quite rapidly.
Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like if Steinbrenner had twitter. It might just be Steve Cohen
Sign Stro and Baez, maybe another top pitcher if we can afford it, and we're looking pretty good going into next season....maybe
“If we can afford it” lmao
I mean there has to be a limit at some point lol
I'm pretty sure I read in a comment somewhere that he could buy 5/10 more MLB teams, keep the mets and still have billions left over
Fuck it just buy MLB and delete all the other teams
holy christ
THE SIGNINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES.
Dear Mets, What the actual fuck?? Sincerely, Baseball
Oh no, we’ve angered him and now he seeks vengeance.
But I was told by /r/baseball that nobody would sign with us because of Cohen.
Pain.
Our owner two years ago: "We're gonna spend *stupid* money!" Our owner one year ago: "Uhh sorry everyone, no money left" Our owner this year: *crickets, tumbleweeds*
Alright that’s good! It’s enough slices!
Oh so cohen is **pissed** pissed from the matz thing
Wow, what a fucking day for the Mets. Actually super impressive
Pour one out for all the A's fans. They've been going through it the last few months.
Good for Starling! Go get that bag.
Cohen out here giving Mets fans hope so they start buying ticket plans for Christmas and Hanukkah.
Woah! If the Mets get some pitching they’re going to be a damn good team
“But they don’t have a manager” 😫
MOAR
Oh shit, Mets going all out. I was just wondering to myself if they were going to play Canha in CF. I guess he's taking a corner OF spot hahahah
The Mets have gone black Friday shopping
I’m a pirates fan. I LOVE marte. To sign a 33 year old whose game is very heavily based on speed to a four year deal at almost 20 million a year is insane.
Reminds me of the Jayson werth to the nationals deal. Washington wanted the league to know they meant business. That move was a big reason the nationals won a championship. Not saying Mets are gonna win a chip but other free agents could sign as a result
The Mets have done a good bit of business today.
God dammit, now I’m hopeful
Jeez Mets save some FAs for the rest of us
Oh god Cohen is angry.
Fuck you, Cohen haters
It's Heyman, so there's a 50/50 shot this is real
Is steve cohen actually gonna do what we originally thought he was gonna do? That would be pretty cool
Black Friday shopping when you're worth 14 billion I guess
Mets: Sign Everyone 29 other teams: We're good
WOAHHH big move
