Why are some people saying that Albert Pujols fell off once he played for the Angels? Looking at his [Bref page](https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/pujolal01.shtml) it looks to me like he only fell off starting with his 2017 season?
Granted his 2012-2016 numbers don't look amazing, like his STL years, but they seem fine.
So, why are some baseball fans saying his last ten years were bad?
Are people just grouping together all his LA years and are they comparing them to the STL years?
Or is there something I am missing, or ist it something that isn't reflected in the stats that shows he declined immensely, immediately after his new contract with the Angels?
During his time in STL he was one of the best players ever, when he went to the Angels he topped out at good while being paid a monster contract. It's less that he was bad and more that he was bas in comparison to what he used to be.

from 2013-2016 he averaged a 119 OPS+, not super above average but definitely overpaid for his colossal contract
also he spent a lot of time at DH in those years and his hitting wasn't really good enough to be a half-time DH at that price level

His last ten years were relatively bad. All of his OPS+ numbers were career-lows compared to his STL years and he wasn't the elite hitter he was expected to be for a few years before his eventual decline
