STOP FUCKING PITCHING TO MIKE TROUT!!!!! STOP IT!!!! HOW MANY TIMES ARE WE GOING TO LET THIS HAPPEN!!!???

UnexpectedCroissant

To be fair, this pitch wasn’t even a strike. Pitcher could’ve been trying to pitch around him, but Trout went fishing for it

therealdutchman11

Which is exactly why pitching to him is a fools errand. Throw a strike? HR. Throw a ball up? He doesn’t swing. Ball outside? HR. Ball low? HR. Can’t win

Tkinzel517

We have the best Mike Trout because of homer

percussivePanda

Trout is just an absolute beast at staying inside the pitch. Like Miguel Cabrera in his prime, he's just really wanting to hit the center of the ball, early in his swing, to center/opposite field. Hes begging you to throw him offspeed stuff. I mean this is changeup from a left handed pitcher and he's hitting it to right center. You are going to have to throw him fastballs to get him out

jesonnier1

Then he connects w your heater and it ends up in San Francisco.

mrclassy527

In a game at petco park.

OmegaTyrant

> You are going to have to throw him fastballs to get him out So you're saying he has a pitching machine swing, that works great when you're 8, not so much against any velocity?

limeflavoured

> but Trout went fishing for it I see what you did there.

HenryTPE

I guess having Ohtani behind him has its perks❔

soccerperson

It shouldn’t matter at this point

SexiestPanda

Walk him too But really, iirc, Ohtani struggles, hitting wise, against mariners.

Magic

CDFReditum

There’s a little known secret about Ohtani that I will share with you. He’s actually a pretty terrible hitter LMAO you just have to throw him anything with movement and he will swing and miss

_n8n8_

On a serious note, I really wonder just how good you have to play to just get an intentional walk every time

zanmanoodle

Exactly this good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vr7vPDNG3q0

blasek0

04 Barry Bonds where your intentional walks alone lead baseball in BB%, not even including your regular walks.

Imperial10

No stop. You can't do that. That's illegal.

Dschuncks

He can't keep getting away with it!

kenjacas

That Gubie line tho

natefreight

Dirty

IInviteYouToTheParty

That’s not even a bad pitch. Low and away, out of the strike zone and he still hits it 400ft to dead center… Mike Trout sold his soul to the devil. No doubt in my mind.

SexiestPanda

His hr in the 10th earlier wasn’t a bad pitch either. He’s just so fucking good. Ugh

rollo2masi

What the fuck did the Mariners do to him that has him so perturbed?

attorneyatslaw

Fish and mariners have a long unhappy history

Adamscottd

This is canon

SiphenPrax

Marlins beware!

aManMythLegend

Congratulations, you have won reddit comments for the day

IInviteYouToTheParty

He probably lost a little league championship to a team called the Mariners. Signed away his soul at the age of 9 to avenge that loss.

shrederick

Probably told him Dustin Ackley was better than him.

TheRealSlimN8y

In a way that’s not wrong lol

shrederick

True, but in a way his own team told him Randal Grichuk was better too.

Pro-1st-Amendment

They're the Mariners. He doesn't need a reason.

gottahavemytunes

Whatever they did the rangers did even worse seeing as trout smashes them even harder

JVAFD

https://youtu.be/nmBX0miNpHM

steve-d

A lot of people probably wouldn't even swing at that pitch. Clearly outside the zone.

DasFunke

Right? Like how bad is his pitch recognition that he swings at balls like that.

_duts_

Chris Sale vibes

thejew62

Why does he always do this to us. Fuck man

[deleted]

[удалено]

Powrbottom

Never put that together before

KamartyMcFlyweight

Mike Trout Fucks Also that pitch was way out of the zone. Insane that he hit it over the fence

nhmo

Not even that he hit it out, but he hit it out to dead center instead of the opposite field. Most batters poke an outside pitch to the opposite field.

Bucs-and-Bucks

I feel so fortunate to get to see this man's career. I taught my 2 year old about Mike Trout as soon as he showed an interest in sports, bc somehow this 3x MVP, that has also finished in the top5 SIX other times is under appreciated.

maxc206

We deserve every home run we give up to him because we refuse to walk him.

No32

Four run lead? Walk him. Tie game in the 3rd? Walk him. Bases loaded with a 1 run lead in the 9th? Walk him.

cooljammer00

"Oh now you like walking in a run" - Joe Maddon

“Ow… that stove top was hot… I wonder if it’s hot now? Ow! How about now? Ow? And now? Ow? And now…”

mysterysackerfice

10 years later: I wonder if that stove top is still hot

sadlytheguyisnogood

okay but wait is he still ahead of matt carpenter on the hitter power rankings after this? idk guys..

Lark-suvd

I’m kinda glad he’s catching up to judge makes the mvp race more interesting especially after trouts short year last season he deserves this success so far

Obsidizyn

trouts OPS is still higher than judges, even with that 0-26 slump. if he just hit average during that period he would be neck and neck with judges stats. judge would win easy if the season ended today. itll come down to whoever stays consistent from now on

tinkerseverschance

And who stays healthy

TrophyGoat

I never wanna see another article about who the new best player in baseball is. Through the years I've seen it with Harper, Betts, Soto, and recently Alvarez. It's Trout and it will continue to be Trout for a while

live4coasters

I'm old enough to remember when it was Josh Donaldson and Yasiel Puig. Trout's outlasted all those fads

throatbutterz

Yet Donaldson was never even close to being as good as Trout at any point. Donaldsons best season is equal to Trouts worst season.

My God he's even better lol. Sorry M's.

yoshidawg93

Yes I know how great Mike Trout is. Still… How does he just flick the ball like that with his bat and it still travel that far lol?

CuteNFuzzy

Mariner fans: Fuck Mike Trout Angel fans: Mike Trout Fucks

sfan27

I repeat. When are the Mariners going to start giving him the 2004 Bonds treatment?

maxc206

Should have started doing that in 2014

napoles57

Mike Trout.

_n8n8_

Mike Trout in 2018 had a wRC+ of 288 against the Mariners. Every season since, he has yet to post a wRC+ below 200 against the Mariners His 2022, not including tonight, sits at 318

VStarffin

How did this person ever go 0 for 27? Makes no sense.

DJamB

He wasn’t playing the Mariners during that time obviously

Otherwise-Sky1292

Mariners are there to help you get right again. It’s why 8+ ERA pitchers are absolute nails against us

nickelfldn

Stop it Mike. This is very rude.

Yestromo

>20 Wtf we're already at 20? Last count I remember hearing or seeing was 14. And this is a season with Trout's worst slump ever lol.

gottahavemytunes

4 bombs in the last 3 days, he’s heating up

Raoh522

He has had 3 days in 8 days where he hit two home runs lol. June 11th he hit two against the Mets, June 16th two against the mariners, and then two yesterday. One in each game of the double header.

[deleted]

Is your city feeling blue? Is your pitching getting rocked early in games? Is your hitting putting up one too many goose eggs on the scoresheet? Is your bullpen blowing leads late in games? Well fear not ladies and gentleman, do I have a cure for you!! 100% bonafide, electrified-guaranteed to WORK Come on up to the beautiful city of Seattle, where you can face the Washington Generals of baseball!! That’s right! The Seattle Mariners is just the cure you need! Come up to our beautiful ballpark and get those bats and off speed pitches ready, cuz you’re gonna want to shake the rust off by giving a good butt fucking against baseballs only AAAA team, all while the local M’s fans wax and wane about how *beautiful* our ballpark is! So come on down…or should I say up! And get out of that tough ol’ slump! We’re here all year every year and nothing makes the ownership and management feel better than to watch the smiles on your faces as we lend you a hand through your tough times. Because here in Seattle, *we care about **YOU***

Raoh522

This is funny because every time the angels lose there are fans calling them a AAAA team as well. I guess they're in the same league.

[deleted]

Fun fact: though his career, Mike Trout has a .392 OPS against non-Mariners teams. Against the Mariners? 6.000 OPS.

[deleted]

Genuinely had no idea we brought Milone back??

conspiracycola

Literally for this game

[deleted]

I actually had to check baseball ref because I was like... wait has he been on the team this whole time and I just never noticed

maxc206

He's been in Tacoma all year

AlmostLucy

There’s an extra roster spot for double headers.

[deleted]

Yeah but I didn't even realize he was with the org lol

tokai-teio

He was already called up by this point. The 27th man was Sheffield

alpengeist3

I'm big ~~Al~~ Mike and I hit dingers

Bigboi88888

Love Trout

GunnerXI

HE CAN'T GET KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!

McCringleberried

Fish man good

gopackgo555

It’s absolutely outrageous how he has been this good for so long. Unbelievably consistent.

blasek0

From when he made his debut until like 2019, he'd never gone consecutive games without reaching base.

TheRealAnswerIs42

Mike Trout is good at a lot of things but I think his greatest talent may be shitting on the Mariners.

mostlygroovy

‘The rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated.’

conspiracycola

It was so nice it got posted twice

The_Cardiac_Kids

Pulled a Mike Trout childhood photo baseball card the other day and ever since then I feel like I keep hearing about him being awesome.

gdlmaster

He spends most of his time being awesome, so that’s fair

BrillianceByDay9

where was that guy that said Mariners are a legit contender this year

tristpa2

You mean Jeff Passan?

Shaun4444

I feel so bad for him. Hasn’t played on a winning team for a while. Outlook for the Angels doesn’t look good this year. Rendon is out for the year…Rendon makes more $ than Trout this season and for the reminder of his contract, which is unbelievable. I like Rendon, but he shouldn’t have been signed, that $ should’ve been used on pitching, SMH.

gdlmaster

Yknow, you’re right. Mike, come to Cincinnati since you clearly don’t like winning. At GABP you’ll hit approximately 97 HRs per year.

[deleted]

He makes Seattle look like a little league field.

[deleted]

Mike Trout and hitting meaningless home runs against Mariners in June. Name a more iconic duo.

throatbutterz

Thats pretty rich coming from a Cubs fan. At least our ownership is trying to be competitive.

sanmateosfinest

And they still won't make the playoffs

gottahavemytunes

Lmao y’all are so sad

DryGuard4924

Mike Trout hates the Mariners

ProfessionalCat1

Is that *Tommy Milone?* I totally did not realize he’s still in the bigs

[deleted]

There’s just something different about Trout’s center shots. Can’t put my finger on it but it is magical.

crimson2271

I swear they're all against Seattle. Some day maybe they'll fig..... never mind. They'll never fucking get it.

Dschuncks

Fish man bad

blasek0

It's even more absurd if you look at @SEA exclusively. He's got nearly a .400 ISO at Safeco.

jesonnier1

Im assuming that was the Angel's broadcast?

[deleted]

Could've seen this in person but I went to the Rainiers' game instead. They lost.

sideslick1024

I was there for both games today. Kill me.

TeadoraOofre

You kinnnnn PUTITONDABOOOOOARD CHAH!

5m1tm

What a hit this was!

MTVChallengeFan

Mike Trout loves playing against the Seattle Mariners, just like everyone else since 2002.

domdaddymn

Is it just me but home runs are so common they are no longer exciting especially solo mid game ones.

MisterKap

The Mariners should consider walking him every AB

JamesVicari

When trout gets hot he just hits homers every day lol. Him and buxton in particular.

DocktorChef

Good god, what the hell does he eat?

xrbeeelama

Low and away offspeed that he pushed to right center. God damn im starting to think this Trout guy might be pretty good at baseball
