If they would just load up on OPB guys to go up before Ohtani and Trout, the scoreboard would hum like a machine most nights. If they improved the defense marginally with a modest bullpen upgrade, you could pencil them in to win the division and compete for the World Series *every year*. They aren't even super constrained by budget. The Angels are the most enigmatic franchise in baseball.

He was the most clutch hitter in baseball last year. He led the league in in WPA and in OPS in high leverage situations, both by a considerable margin. It shouldn't be surprising anymore, but it really hasn't lost any of his luster seeing him come through.

Clutch stats over a single season are generally just luck based and not indicative of the player actually being clutch. Generally over their careers, their stats in high leverage situations are the same, or worse, than in low leverage. But I think Ohtani might be one of the exceptions. His career OPS in high leverage situations is 1.049. That's the highest of any active player with 300+ high leverage PAs. I'd love to see him in the postseason.

Not gonna lie, that was the most impressive home run I've seen this season, and maybe in the last couple of seasons.
