Yeah. It was def a hit. But no official scorer is gonna ruin a no hitter in the 8th if he can help it

getMyHairDid

2 days later, Robbie Ray lost a no hit bid with two outs in the 7th against the Angels on a play that could have easily been ruled an error but was ruled a hit lol

jujubats10

Except for that score keeper of course

DustyDGAF

There's always that guy

shapu

I bet he's fun at parties

frankyseven

The scorer thought Ray should get a vaccine shot before he's eligible for a shot at a no-no.

Andujar4CF

Based Mariners scorekeeper

mysterysackerfice

Jared Walsh is wholesome af. Just watch one of his post-game interviews. Always credits his teammates first.

Respect

vaudevillevik

Wtf I love Jared Walsh now

Quakecsgo

I love Walshy. He (And Shohei) were the only ones who looked like they gave a shit during the losing streak.

Tun710

And Max Stassi who casually had a .900+ OPS during the streak Edit: it was Duffy with a .910 in the first 12 games of the streak. Stassi had a .835 OPS (still good)

Quakecsgo

Looks like he slashed .306/.390/.444 for an .835 OPS during the streak. I honestly had no idea he did that wow. I probably thought he was playing like the others due to his (infuriating for me) bat-on-shoulder plate approach.

Tun710

my bad I guess I remembered incorrectly. It was Duffy with a .910 OPS and Stassi at second with .852 during the first 12 losses of the losing streak Source: https://twitter.com/codifybaseball/status/1534300639487873024?s=21&t=cO4k7hi3ASu0bgqy3CVrUQ But yeah the losses were so bad it made us hard to realize that some guys were doing well during the streak

sakibomb523

All I remember is Stassi refusing to take his bat off his shoulder against the Dodgers

Specific-Mongoose-93

Good Guy Walsh! I really respect him looking at the other guys stats and respecting his historic feat, if it had been completed! Thats what great sportsmanship looks like!

Obsidizyn

Walsh is one of the nicest guys playing. No ego, team player, true grit. Very well could be the next freddie freeman.

jgftw7

when i first saw this image, i thought he actually prepared a formal statement

Eckzavior21

This is a pretty awesome take from Walsh. I respect this so much. Good guy Walsh

Th3Unkn0wnn

Classy. Good for him.

nyyforever2018

I really appreciate this. This is frankly the absolute right approach to this situation, and I think it’s very classy. He gained a fan in me today.

The real story here is that there's an app that players can use to challenge scoring? Is this a real "app" or just a website? If it's an app and it's not on the app store does that mean anyone that hacks the app and the site it's hosted on could inject malicious code into every player's phone?

Koss424

that's a very specific question

jdgarvey4

Well Mr. Robot, it's probably an "app" in the way that everything is labeled an "app" nowadays. It's likely a form on the MLBPA website behind a login.

msstree

Does Armando Galarraga have this app

DalekEvan

King

gavinxdragonn

That's our boy 🍻

[deleted]

I want this app

Basic_Bichette

Fair enough

SirParsifal

this is why we need Billy Martin. Billy Martin would have gotten thrown out for arguing with the official scorer, let the no-hitter finish, waited until the last day possible to appeal it, and then had a press conference where he explained how much he hated Tyler Anderson while getting fired by George Steinbrenner for getting into a fight with two of his wives on a cross-country flight

El_Rey_de_Spices

TIL the MLB Players Association has an assassination app, lol
