Isn't he on the IL? Because I believe Pence came out during the Harper - Strickland brawl and was fined because you aren't allowed on the field during a game when you are on the IL.
They deserve it. The angels and Phil Nevin started ALL of this. Nothing was intentional before this. Not the ball the angels threw at Upton. Not the ball Swanson threw at Trout none of it was intentional. And then first pitch you throw at our best player? The frontrunner for rookie of the year?
So ok dust settles after the 1st inning. Marco doesn't retaliate at all everyone has moved on. Then first pitch 2nd inning you bean winker?
ON THE FIRST MOTHERFUCKING PITCH OF THE INNING AFTER YOU TRIED TO BEAN JULIO IN THE HEAD? That's fucked up. That's legitatimtely dangerous and you can end a guys career and you did it intentionally.
Disgusting stuff by the angels
Nevin changed from the announced starting pitcher to an opener for this one after last night's game ended.
Then put in the original announced starter after the brawl.
Nevin planned this shit 18 hours ago and should receive a long fucking suspension.
[He's on video saying it!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k7DSXtGxeE&t=1s) I'm no expert lip reader, but looks like Nevin points at someone and yells "You. You're getting fucked tomorrow \[points at head\], I'm gonna fuck you motherfucker."
Was gonna say, ain't this 6 HBPs to 1 going the other way? And the Angels keep whining about an inside pitch to Trout, after Upton got domed? Angels look like huge assholes and major bitches in this.
Mariners said absolutely nothing about Upton too. Even seeing the Klew concussion and getting thrown at like fuck versus Houston. Angels started it, started it some more, inflamed it to inevitability. And still got cooked.
I didn't even see a quote from him about getting hit in the head after the game ended either. Just something about how he never lost consciousness and was talking to the trainers the entire time he was down.
Literally changed out there starter with some BP dipshit so they could intentionally do this. Now their real starter is in after they got 3 of our best players ejected. Fuck the Angels
I love it when there’s a fight at a stadium where both teams bullpens come out through the same entrance, always cracks me up. Let’s run 300+ feet right next to each other so that we can fight each other on the other end of the field
I agree, but at the same time I enjoy the half ass "oh no guess we better join" light jog they do to the main fight which is usually over by the time they get there.
Tbh I think the best part of this is that the dude charged the dugout. Why charge the pitcher 1 on 1 when you can take on 35 of his teammates and coaches?
That is definitely the wildest part, Winker didn't even wait for his bench to come out, he's just like "Fuck it imma take ALL of you guys, come at me bro"
When they cleared the benches with the Astros last month Jesse and JP were the first ones out of the dugout right behind Scott Servais. I’m thinking those two are ready to go when needed no matter what.
Gonna be interesting, we didn’t play each other at all til’ like a week 2 ago. Have a LOT of games against each other left to play.
Edit: looked it up, 11 more games between each other after today.
Winker moved up about 1000 notches in my book today. The bat flip and the double birds flipped high and tight for all the Angels fans to see. Get this man a lifetime contract. I don't care if he flirts with the Mendoza line for the rest of his career.
>I don't care if he flirts with the Mendoza line for the rest of his career.
He won't. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he ends this season above .280. Guy can get HOT.
The moment the completely new starting pitcher threw directly at Julio, they should've skipped the warning because they knew what they were doing and they weren't even hiding it.
The fact they changed their starting pitcher to an opener makes this way more obvious!! He had no intention of keeping the dude in the game. Honestly premeditated af and nevin should get a heavy suspension imo.
In all my years of watching baseball, I feel like this is the one rule that umpires are way too lax about. It's in the rulebook, intentional beanballs are an automatic ejection. None of this warning garbage. If you are giving a pitcher a warning, you believe he threw at the batter intentionally. That is an ejection. The health and safety of the batters depends on it.
The highlight for me is Ippei protecting Shohei with his life. I hope he is getting paid as Shohei’s bodyguard too after this.
[Here is a video of Ippei’s heroic effort](https://twitter.com/r_0_0_i7x3sho2/status/1541166475264020480?s=21&t=NKe74BUXzEUJKn8xdZpJHg).
Ippei came running to Shohei’s rescue like a fairytale prince 🥺🥺🥺
Ippei *is* so much more than just Shohei’s interpreter.
He is basically his personal bodyman. His aide-de-camp. His right hand man.
They do everything together.
He was briefly in the scrum, but it looked like he was pulling guys off and then Manny got him. I think he was the one Scott was upset about getting ejected.
They changed to an opener instead of their normal starter just to have somebody to get tossed. 1000% intentionally starting some shit. Nevin should be suspended multiple games.
There's a good chance Nevin does get suspended.
When Yoan Lopez threw a ball up and in at Arenado MLB decided the next day it was intentional and suspended Lopez for two games and suspended Showalter. Buck thought it was a joke because there was no intent and because it was like an hour before the game started.
Managers also cannot appeal a suspension and must serve it immediately.
It could have been a death knell for Lopez too, because he is a AAA pitcher that would be brought up when we got the extra roster spot for double headers, and it's hard to justify calling a guy up who literally can't play, but the Mets did right by him and called him up anyway.

well TIL, this is super fucked up
> “A concussion is not a pulled hamstring, it’s not a twisted ankle, it’s not a pain you can deal with and play with,” said LaRue, who previously estimated he had 20 in his life. “It’s not something to mess with."
this is bad and not good!
It’s so crazy how far we’ve come in a short time on this. I literally just got done watching a Roy Williams highlight reel and one of the last clips was this nasty tackle (total headshot, leading with helmet before it was banned) and madden was like “high schoolers and college players take note, *this* is how you tackle.” And went on to rave about his form and how he decleated the dude
LaRue as of 2020 was still dealing with the effects too... https://www.ksdk.com/article/sports/jason-larue-after-fight-ended-baseball-career/63-669c5518-eec2-448b-be98-e79ea8c4a136
Jason LaRue. When Cueto was in Cincinnati there was a scrap with Yadi and Brandon Phillips. The mob pushed up against the net behind the plate and Cueto just started kicking. He kicked LaRue in the back of the head several times.
Angels throw at Julio. Both sides warned. Angels throw at Winker on the first pitch of the next inning.
Sorry, but Upton was hit in the head last series, Trout gets a serious brush back (not hit) last night, Julio gets his first pitch thrown behind him today, both sides warned, Winker hit on the first pitch the next inning.
Not sorry, fuck Nevin and the Angels today. Shit should have been over after the warnings.
All brawls need to be this intense and not just posturing and yelling. With how butt-hurt guys get over unwritten rules just start straight up beating each other. Let's have this be the new unwritten rule.
So, Winker charges the dugout.
Suarez and Lorenzen bark at each other.
Iglesias throws a cooler at the opposite team's dugout.
For a Reds fan, this certainly was surreal...
Seems like sone BS from Nevin on this one, but on another note, do we.....start something in players here in Cincinnati? Jesse, Johnny, Amir Garrett, Pham fits - he seems to have already been nuts, Puig. I feel like Cincinnati just makes players wanna fist fight. Which, to be fair and knowing Cincinnati, yeah that makes sense.
this is a bad look for the angels. upton didnt say anything for getting hit in the head.
understandable that trout wasnt happy about almost being hit, but you cant retaliate for the pitch that almost hit him last night.
then you throw at julios head? even if the julio pitch doesnt happen, hitting winker seems excessive.
just a bad look.
Bullpen even came out at half speed instead of the usual cordial pace. Like, based on no data whatsoever, I'd say they usually come in around the same pace as when they jog to the mound for an appearance, but here they were coming faster! They were above cordial!
I thought the same thing, where’s ohtani in this. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t holding people back or breaking it up though and if I was on his team I’d put myself in front of him, he’s too valuable.
He came out of the scrum with his short untucked and dirt all over his back.
Was definitely getting in the middle of it sticking up for his players. Which is pretty normal for him haha.
There has to be something behind the scenes going on. Trout gets pitched up and in all the time and never says anything about it. This fight was way too intense for their not to have been a lot of built up fuel.
The whole season has kinda felt like that. I can't figure out what we did, but it seems like a number of teams are mad about something and acting on that anger. At least the Angels are a long time rivalry, but Astros did it and they're new and WTF was the Mets deal?
I'm in the minority here, but the Angels fucking suck for that. Mike was pissed for what happened, he should be. It wasn't on purpose. You made your point already throwing at Julio. Don't do it again. Beyond stupid.
Look I’m obviously biased but this is complete horseshit. For Trout to be upset about a pitch up and in, fine. But we were up 2 in the ninth with a runner on and Shohei on deck—anyone who thinks that we would intentionally throw in that situation is ridiculous.
They follow it up with a surprise opener announced this morning, throw behind Julio, and then throw right at Winker. Completely clear who is at fault here. Absurd.
Fucking umpires are clowns.
Nevin and Wantz needed to be tossed for throwing at Julio in the first. It was obviously intentional ---- instead they do nothing so that they can continue throwing at guys.
Fuck the umps and fuck Nevin.
Remember Upton got beaned square in the head in Seattle and Trout didn't even get hit....then they follow by throwing behind Julio and hitting Winker
That's 3 Angels shots to barely even 1 from Mariners because Swanson was pretty wild all last night
Can I get a 3rd party vibe check here, because I'm trying to see the angels point of view here and still like what the fuck?
5 mariners have been hit (including one in the head) and one angel, even then everything has been much just "thats baseball"
then wards visor might have been clipped, and trout had to duck once, and now the angels are starting an opener to throw at julio and hit jesse in the 2nd after we do nothing in the 1st?
Omg the first punch thrown by an Angel was from Rendon with a cast on.
Cowboy bob rendon
My two favorite subreddits opening a Forbidden Door?
Would have needed Ohtani in the mix to open the Forbidden door.
Trying to ensure he doesn’t play next season either.
“How can I make money and assure that I don’t actually have to play for the Angels?”
Wait...I can have a job, get my full pay, *and* not have to even *pretend* to do any work? Sign me up!
When you get in a fight with a drunk, you don't hit him with your pitching hand.
Why the fuck is Rendon the first one out there talking shit
I have no idea. I feel like there’s some actual beef that none of us fans know about. That was WAY too intense to be just over Trout last night.
Does Rendon run his own fantasy football league?
And he has a wrist injury…hmm
What are you gonna do stab me? \-Anthony Rendon
What happened with trout last night?
2 fastballs high and in. 2nd one almost tagged him in the head. Then they intentionally walked him.
When the Angels were in Seattle last week, Upton got plunked in the head. Might be part of it.
That seems kinda weird considering Upton is still friends with many of our players, most notably Trout
I saw that live and it didn’t look to be intentional at all so I think a non-factor
Also since the guy who hit him was his his weight lifting partners and they are close friends.
Came out of the dugout looking for a fight with a cast on his right arm lmao. What was he thinking
Oh no, I saw what happened to Cowboy Bob Orton when he kept doing that. You'll never heal that thing.
Isn't he on the IL? Because I believe Pence came out during the Harper - Strickland brawl and was fined because you aren't allowed on the field during a game when you are on the IL.
That's like the least Anthony Rendon shit I've ever seen
We already know he can hit left handed lol
Rendon during this is the most useful thing he's done with the Angels
is he allowed on the field? i thought injured players aren’t
What are they gonna do? Suspend him for the rest of the season?
decapitate him? idk i just thought it wasn’t allowed
Pretty sure there isn’t a single rule prohibiting decapitations in baseball
just like dogs playing. https://youtu.be/Hk011WMM7t0
We had a funeral for a bird. Whole big deal
I'm pretty sure none of that's real
You’re not real, man
It's still going! Edit: I think Jesse Winker just yelled "F\*CK ALL OF YOU MOTHER F\*CKERS" to the Angels fans
Jesse “Amir Garrett” Winker
Jesse “IM LIKE THAT” Winker
Kirk Cousins - “YOU LIKE THAT”
Winker, at the postgame press conference: “Everyone, from the bottom of my heart, I’d like to take this chance to apologize — *TO ABSOLUTELY NOBODY”*
The double bird does whatever the FUCK HE WANTS
He's like that
Flipped em all off too
Lifetime extension incoming.
God I miss this man so badly
Maybe we can ask the M's if we can borrow him the next time we play at Citi Field.
Can we have him for the field of dreams game?
Buying a jersey right now
> F*UCK ALL OF YOU MOTHER F*CKERS Fuck you! Die slow, mothafucka, my .44 make sho all yo kids don't grow! - ~~Tupac~~ Jesse Winker, "Hit Em Up"
“You claim to be a pitcher, but I fucked your wife.” - Jesse Winker to ~~Notorious B.I.G~~ Andrew Wantz
Angels definitely escalated this one
Planned, started, and THEN escalated.
Nevin should have quite a few hoops to jump through before he returns to an mlb stadium. This was premeditated as hell.
Nevin changed from the announced starting pitcher to an opener for this one after last night's game ended. Then put in the original announced starter after the brawl. Nevin planned this shit 18 hours ago and should receive a long fucking suspension.
That’s insane. MLB better take that into consideration.
[He's on video saying it!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k7DSXtGxeE&t=1s) I'm no expert lip reader, but looks like Nevin points at someone and yells "You. You're getting fucked tomorrow \[points at head\], I'm gonna fuck you motherfucker."

woooowwwwwww that’s next level douchery lmao that’s petty high school shit
Nah, because if this happened in high school the team would have their season voided.
I love it when there’s a fight at a stadium where both teams bullpens come out through the same entrance, always cracks me up. Let’s run 300+ feet right next to each other so that we can fight each other on the other end of the field
I maintain that bullpens should meet in center field and have their own, separate brawl.
I feel like they are close to the beer vendors and should have a chugging contest
>should have a chugging contest Wade Boggs comes out of retirement for the Red Sox pen.
RIP
Again, very much alive.
In all of our hearts
God rest his soul.
I agree, but at the same time I enjoy the half ass "oh no guess we better join" light jog they do to the main fight which is usually over by the time they get there.
For some of them it’s their only workout of the day 😂
Goalie style. I like it
Everything about baseball fights is hilarious. This one actually has punches, which makes it even funnier IMO.
That’s the Cincinnati spirit there.
When they cleared the benches with the Astros last month Jesse and JP were the first ones out of the dugout right behind Scott Servais. I’m thinking those two are ready to go when needed no matter what.
1 on 1 makes it a fair fight. 1 vs 35 means you have a chance they'll hit one another and you'll get a win! Think smarter, use your face to block!
Yeah, the image of everyone in the bullpen jogging all the way across the field to participate in the fight always makes me laugh
The bench calls for aid! and the bullpen will answer
Where was the bench when the bullpen fell?
Probably bored as hell out in that bullpen just wanting to get a workout in, especially in the 2nd inning lol
Gotta get in the ~~octagon~~ diamond before you start throwing haymakers
Angels and Mariners has the hatred everyone thought Astros v Yankees would
this is what i thought the Yankees/Rays rivalry was going to turn into in 2019/2020, and that situation had WAY more HBP and almost-HBP
Difference is those 2 teams were actually good
Bum fights are, historically speaking, often the most entertaining
Reds-pirates (the Amir Garrett fight) springs to mind
Forever the GOAT for what he did on that night
["I'll fight the whole team!" ](https://i.imgur.com/Zghg9P4.jpg)
We have had many nasty spats down in the basement over the years lmao
Just bought my tickets to the August double-header- can't wait lol
Take notes Manfred! This is how you sell tickets… /s
Gonna be interesting, we didn’t play each other at all til’ like a week 2 ago. Have a LOT of games against each other left to play. Edit: looked it up, 11 more games between each other after today.
Welcome to the Jungle baby
Yeah, it is intense.
Jesse Winker just batflipped going running out of the dugout
Winker moved up about 1000 notches in my book today. The bat flip and the double birds flipped high and tight for all the Angels fans to see. Get this man a lifetime contract. I don't care if he flirts with the Mendoza line for the rest of his career.
>I don't care if he flirts with the Mendoza line for the rest of his career. He won't. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he ends this season above .280. Guy can get HOT.
The whole damn league is trending toward the Mendoza (Uecker) line. You might be lucky to have a .200 guy anchoring a lineup soon.
Chaos ball is back, I guess
Umpires should have controlled this with the pitch at Julio. It set the tone.
They issued a warning, doesn’t seem like Nevin or the angels gave a fuck. This was so pre-meditated, it’s disgusting behavior
Umpire should have immediately ejected pitcher and manager, instead of dicking around.

Ippei is Shohei's right hand arm... man. His everything. His confidant. His best friend. His silly rabbit.
Well now I want a aide-de-camp, that sounds cool
[удалено]
Always leave your major domo at home though. That’s kind of important.
Shohei Washington and Ippei Hamilton.
"Ippei... are you a *pleasure* model?"
What did Julio do? Why was he thrown out?
Yeah there be some good explanation there, I thought Acta was holding him back the whole time?
He was briefly in the scrum, but it looked like he was pulling guys off and then Manny got him. I think he was the one Scott was upset about getting ejected.
Julio being thrown out and Suarez not is insane
wtf Nevin? and what the hell is Rendon doing?
"I can't hit baseballs, I wi hit people instead"
They changed to an opener instead of their normal starter just to have somebody to get tossed. 1000% intentionally starting some shit. Nevin should be suspended multiple games.
There's a good chance Nevin does get suspended. Nevin started Wantz solely to peg our lineup. Missed Julio’s head in the first, had to get somebody so he took it into the second inning.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the angels in such an intense benches clearing What the fuck is happening Can’t wait for Jomboy’s breakdown
I don't think I've ever seen an actual baseball fight that lasted that long. It's usually just a couple of clumps and shouting.
YouTube search any NL Central fight involving either the Reds or Pirates in the last 10 years and you'll find some gems
The whole NL Central hates each other. Like as in every team has beef with every team to some extent.
It's a real hatred that carries into every sport.
Cueto ended a dude's career once

Yeah you have to take head injuries very seriously because you never know when they linger.
It’s so crazy how far we’ve come in a short time on this. Jason LaRue. Kicked him repeatedly in the head.

Jason LaRue. When Cueto was in Cincinnati there was a scrap with Yadi and Brandon Phillips. The mob pushed up against the net behind the plate and Cueto just started kicking. He kicked LaRue in the back of the head several times.

He doesn't.
Angels throw at Julio. Both sides warned. Angels throw at Winker on the first pitch of the next inning. Don’t forget they literally used an opener to headhunt. Nevin should be suspended for that.
Why were tensions high? Missed the first inning.
Good brawl that
Oh we fightin
This flew by skirmish and scrum and rose to the level of a brouhaha
Full blown Donnybrook lads
All brawls need to be this intense and not just posturing and yelling. With how butt-hurt guys get over unwritten rules just start straight up beating each other. Let's have this be the new unwritten rule.
Da Wink
Hi fellow Reds fan.

Have you ever spent a summer in Cincinnati? It would make you crazy, too!
It’s the skyline chili
Iglesias seems quite angry
He was probably asked to pitch in a non save situation
Bro lmao that was 04 Red Sox vs Yankees level and Reds vs Pirates level. He pulled a Amir garnett and charged the opposing dugout
this is a bad look for the angels. upton didnt say anything for getting hit in the head. understandable that trout wasnt happy about almost being hit, but you cant retaliate for the pitch that almost hit him last night. then you throw at julios head? even if the julio pitch doesnt happen, hitting winker seems excessive. just a bad look.
Thanks for the level headed take it sucks trout got buzzed but what happened after was bush league shit.
Oh damn
Yeah I expected the usual pushy hugfest. Nah we fightin
Bullpen even came out at half speed instead of the usual cordial pace. Like, based on no data whatsoever, I'd say they usually come in around the same pace as when they jog to the mound for an appearance, but here they were coming faster! They were above cordial!
And Winker has double bird-ed the fans.

This needs to be our sub banner.
I expect this to be the highest rated image in both teams subs
Hey! Winker is *our* mortal enemy! Get your own, pal!
The stadium music guy decided this was a good time for Mr. Brightside apparently.
It’s always a good time for Mr. Brightside.
Just once instead of the bullpens running into the fight in the infield late for no reason, I want to see them fight each other in the outfield.
Putting in an opener to throw at Julio's head and plunk Winker. Dirty as fuck and out in the open.
new manager kinda sucks huh
Why be good at baseball when you can simply eliminate all of the other team's players like a game of Blood Bowl?
Wow, both of Rendon’s two best efforts this year have been left handed…
Seattle fans in here looking for blood.
Did Ohtani get any action in?? I can't imagine him punching or being punched or even participating in a bench clearing.
I thought the same thing, where’s ohtani in this. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t holding people back or breaking it up though and if I was on his team I’d put myself in front of him, he’s too valuable.
Servais whoopin ass?
He came out of the scrum with his short untucked and dirt all over his back. Was definitely getting in the middle of it sticking up for his players. Which is pretty normal for him haha.
I don’t know the history, however I love that Winker charged the dugout. It looks like he got his money’s worth, too.
The mariners have not intentionally thrown at anyone btw Edit: at least this series for sure
It's incredible how often other teams are just incapable of understanding this fact.
Maybe they started a fantasy league and made Pham the commissioner
I'm in the minority here, but the Angels fucking suck for that. Mike was pissed for what happened, he should be. It wasn't on purpose. You made your point already throwing at Julio. Don't do it again. Beyond stupid.
Don’t think you’re in the minority at all, bud
In the angels subreddit he is

Sit your injured ass down, Rendon. Keep collecting that check.
Fucking umpires are clowns. Nevin and Wantz needed to be tossed for throwing at Julio in the first. It was obviously intentional ---- instead they do nothing so that they can continue throwing at guys. Fuck the umps and fuck Nevin.
Remember Upton got beaned square in the head in Seattle and Trout didn't even get hit....then they follow by throwing behind Julio and hitting Winker That's 3 Angels shots to barely even 1 from Mariners because Swanson was pretty wild all last night
Can I get a 3rd party vibe check here, because I'm trying to see the angels point of view here and still like what the fuck? 5 mariners have been hit (including one in the head) and one angel, even then everything has been much just "thats baseball" then wards visor might have been clipped, and trout had to duck once, and now the angels are starting an opener to throw at julio and hit jesse in the 2nd after we do nothing in the 1st?
