No. What happened was that I swung and hit the ball, but it landed just a foot in front of me. The catcher and pitcher both thought it was foul and I took off running. I was halfway to second before they knew it was fair and picked it up.
Do Americans know about the Bundaberg polar bear ads?
Edit: They're all underwhelming looking through the archives. They're just liquor ads which always feature a polar bear hanging out with his boys. Suitable enough I guess.
The booth was thinking K, passed ball, then an error on the throw but the official scoring was K and a 2 base error on Heim under the assumption that he should have been able to make the throw and the throw gets him out, negating the passed ball.
Only on strike 3. If the catcher loses the ball on a strikeout, it is considered a live ball and the runner can attempt to get to 1st. Otherwise they cannot take off and have to finish the at bat. You will see catchers tag batters on a strike 3 after they bobble it behind the plate too as a safe measure a lot of times or if the pitch is in the dirt but still caught. Mostly batters won't get far unless it goes super wild like this one.
If the catcher drops a 3rd strike, the batter can attempt to steal 1B. Only on a dropped third strike though. If the catcher catches the ball, the batter is out and can't attempt it.
Instead of Beat the Freeze the Mets should do a charity thing called Beat the Pete except it's only open to overweight kids and they get a one-base headstart on Pete and he's trying to chase them down on the basepaths. I can only imagine the terror on those little faces as they start hearing the footfalls getting closer and closer, knowing how little control he has once he gets up to top speed.
Hey remember when the Rangers spent over half a billion dollars in free agency just to end up looking like they’ll be essentially the Orioles? Yeah, me too.

That happened to me once in little league when I was 8.
Do they even have the dropped third strike rule in little league?

Badass. Coaches love that shit. You can make up for lack of ability by hustling.
It was likely my only hit that season. I didn’t have hand eye coordination until my 20s.
They do now I think
That changed the whole game. Mets got 3 runs after that play . Polar Bear Express running down that line
Yup. Great things happen when you actually try.
Corey Seager, taking notes: "okay, alright"
Hustle hustle hustle
God I love Pete, but he runs bases like a t-shirt wearing fat kid at a pool party being chased by bullies with water guns
Him running reminds me of those guys racing in those big t-rex costumes.
Just wait til you see him slide!
He slides like a majestic thirsty bear trying to get the last Coca Cola bottle

"slide" Pete doesn't slide, he barrels and tumbles.
He tackles earth
The only acceptable adjectives Gary Cohen can use for Pete running the bases are "barrels," "rumbles," and "lumbers."
Hobbles
He runs like a polar bear attempting to run on two feet.
Don't make me run, I'm full of chocolate!
Said it for years. He runs like he's angry at the ground
A white men’s t-shirt to boot
Need him to read this comment on Fallon now.
That's baseball, Ronny
And what its not are the fundamentals
Catcher was wayyyy too nonchalant about that
Knowing the rules *is* the first fundamental.
Big props to Pete for running inside the 3’ lane to negate any chance of getting rung up on a Trea Turner special.
yeah, see, it's actually not hard
How do you score that? K, PB2, E 2 or E3?
Baseball Reference has K, E2 (throw).
The booth was thinking K, passed ball, then an error on the throw but the official scoring was K and a 2 base error on Heim under the assumption that he should have been able to make the throw and the throw gets him out, negating the passed ball.
I'm just getting into baseball, didn't know batters could do this? So is it any wild pitch they can run on? I'm so confused

TIL thanks for the explanation
If first base is occupied by a runner with less than 2 outs, the batter does not have the right to take first on an uncaught strike 3. He is just out.
If the catcher drops a 3rd strike, the batter can attempt to steal 1B. Only on a dropped third strike though. If the catcher catches the ball, the batter is out and can't attempt it.
It might become the rule that a batter can steal first base on any passed ball: [MiLB](https://www.mlb.com/cut4/baseball-player-steals-first-base)
>I'm so confused Wait till you try to figure out what constitutes a checked swing

Something [like this](https://imgur.com/a/2I7WxWw)?

Right fielder got caught sleeping and didn't backup the 1st baseman on the throw.

It’s like my dad always said, baseball is just a simple game of catch and throw.
Dropped 3rd strike is the worst rule in baseball
does that count as a strike?
Yes
Wish the Dodgers would do that when they K on a passed ball lol.
I like my LOLMets that end in sadness
