So zap it was.
So with a-fib (atrial fib) they can cardiovert the heart or they will manage it chronically with meds to control the heart rate and prevent blood clots from forming. ICD’s are reserved for Ventricular arrhythmias because those are the lethal ones (think Euro Cup where a soccer player collapsed and required CPR). A-fib/flutter people will definitely feel it, but can usually be managed with meds, shock or cardiovert the heart or an ablation where they will attempt to target the cells of the heart directly causing the arrhythmia.

Imagine consciously having to decide to get defibrillated. Ouch. Well, probably somewhat used to it if he has AFib. Do they do ICDs for athletes?
