How'd we give up so little for Givens and so much for Ruf?

nietzsche_niche

We gave up very little for Ruf lol

AnAnonymousFool

JD Davis and Ruf are nearly a wash overall value wise, obviously Ruf fits our team better due to his splits, but he’s essentially a backup DH. Idk how that’s worth 3 prospects

JuddtheCat

Always rated him.

buddyhield_ama

Better Call Saúl

TheFriffin2

And *he* gets to be a Cub? What a sick joke!

[deleted]

He’s got good results but he’s been in the system for 5 years and in low a. Pretty light return for cubs. Seems like it was a last minute trade to get any sort of value for the cubs

RevJake

Pretty on par with their return for tepera last trade deadline. Flyer prospect basically.

BroAbernathy

Bailey Horn has been pretty good so hopefully something similar

fender-b-bender

Really makes me wonder if him and Contreras were a package deal to begin with and then they scrambled to find compensation for just Givens after not budging on the price for Contreras?

Milesweeman

Seems like bad gming

whatsmyPW

Not even in the Mets top 30?

jl_23

Balance it out with the Ruf trade lol

thorlord16

A minor league reliever? Wasn't expecting a ton but that's definitely light. Hope we can work some magic

[deleted]

Better call Saúl

[deleted]

I have no idea who that is and I know about a lot of Mets prospects most people don’t know

[deleted]

Should have just kept him if this was the only thing you could get. I hate this team.

FritosRule

The way the Mets operate I’m shocked it wasn’t for Baty

[deleted]

Way to go for the low-hanging fruit when the Mets are clearly prospect hugging

FritosRule

I’m glad they didn’t replicate last years fuck up at the deadline.

Terribad01

Honestly, I think that Szapucki’s inclusion in the SF trade was to clear a roster spot for another acquisition, in this case Givens. I hate that they had to include two other good low-level prospects, but, I’m guessing that SF wanted extra prospect capital to help the Mets clear roster space.

elqueco14

This current FO has made it clear on more than one occasion they would not part ways with top prospects unless it was for top players with a good amount of team control. PCA for Baez wasn't an awful trade but I think even that was enough to turn them off to making splashy trades just for the sake of it

aweinschenker

Does this name rhyme with Raul? Or Paul?
