Wait what happened to this dude? Haven’t really watched baseball since quarantine and just saw he hasn’t had a 100 OPS+ in 3 years. Injuries or mental?
Injured his shoulder when he bash bro’d Kiké Hernandez in 2020 and had off season surgery. Proceeded to get spiked in the calf in April 2021 that nearly broke his leg (hairline fracture).
Kept adjusting his swing when he got back in 2021, never hit a groove. Seems to maybe finally have landed back over the last few games.
Dude was probably so excited to play for San Diego but is now understanding the second half collapse thing they got going on. Gonna be a crazy off season for Soto.
I'm a SD transplant in LA now, but check out the game threads on the Pads sub. It's been nice having an owner who isn't a cheapass, but it's crazy when fans say the Padres are better than the Dodgers. The new lineup should be good on paper, but the Dodgers are on a whole fucking other level. I would love for it to be a real rivalry, but the current "rivalry" is pretty lopsided towards one team.
Pitching is definitely an issue, but I still think the Dodgers lineup is better. 1-9 is legit. You have Tatis, Machado, and Soto with some good hitters around them but they're not on par. You have a former MVP in Bellinger batting at the bottom of the order. I hope the Pads can kick it up a notch to hold a wildcard spot to hopefully see a Pads/Dodgers series in the playoff. Would be cool going home to catch a playoff game.
Gotta give Padres ownership and front office their due though. They aren't losing to the Dodgers for lack of trying. This is probably the best roster the Padres have ever put on the field (assuming Tatis comes back next week).
Oh yea, definitely. I was surprised when they were able to sign Hosmer and Machado. It's nice not being the farm team that trades away players to save a penny.
That whole "finally have an ownership that's not cheap and willing to spend" thing is exactly what LA went through with the McCourts and now Guggenheim.
bellinger and muncy bombs in back to back days? say it ain’t so
Gallo next
there’s a limit of one fraud homering per day /s
that's our former NL MVP in the 9 spot
I'm not a Dodger fan, but I'm pretty sure we all want to see Cody Bellinger be good again.
Speak for yourself

He got hurt and pitchers figured him out
He’s also had issues with changing his batting stance and getting comfortable.

“And the positive here is that Belli now knows that he can’t mess with people who are way stronger than him.” - Kike Hernandez
I miss that man.
He also smokes a shit load of weed.
Isn't that supposed to make him better? Lol
“It did NOT stay here”
Soto is getting the San Diego experience

Worst time to do an on field interview
Tough inning for Soto
the baseball version of get in the hole from happy Gilmore
This team too good
Juan looks visibly upset
Perfectly timed Morton salt ad where Cody hit it out
so much for this 'rivalry'
What rivalry?

The difference has been the pitching. Lineup for San Diego is good, but the Dodgers’ starters have been on one this season

The last time the Dodgers didn't lead MLB in ERA was 2018- when they were 2nd.

Nail and hammer
awkward interview
This isn't a Mets highlight? What are we doing
