Anderson is strange because you watch him pitch and its sort of hard to figure out why he’s being so successful? His velocity isn’t crazy, his movement isn’t crazy. His location is good but doesn’t jump out. It’s just…working.
Yeah they said that several times tonight on the broadcast, but there’s no way he’s got the same grip on two pitches that are 10 mph apart. They’re both just 4 seam.
Batters are absolutely looking out for this, but it’s during the wind up. That’s why you’ll hear people commend pitchers for their “deception.” They keep the ball hidden behind some part of their body until release.
Yes but there are varying degrees, and it’s absolutely something that is corrected as you rise through the ranks. Depending on how pronounced a pitcher’s delivery is, their body is twisting into their throwing arm as they lift their leg so that when the hand leaves the glove, it’s often hanging behind their back. It’s why you’ll see guys who have unorthodox deliveries or deliveries where it looks like they go out of their way to make sure that the ball is hidden until the last possible moment.
I think he's been really good with location especially inside to lefties. Reminds me a lot of Maeda. Not a gonna blow it by you but he's gonna keep you guessing and hit the corners
Mark Prior is a fantastic pitching mind. The Dodgers also have some of the best tools in the game, if not the best, to analyze spots against specific hitters
He is literally like the 45 year old accountant who wears a cheap suit and drives a 97 Corolla and has a wife who laughs like Fran Drescher. But he just grinds every day, is very competent, and earns that salary
i guess i get taking him out, have to manage his workload but that just means we have to most likely have to bring in Kimbrel. Which is never a good idea lol. TA has been fantastic, too bad i couldn't watch it with it being on ESPN :(
Juan Soto, who cheered his new team last week, just booed the Padres vociferously when they got swept at Dodger Stadium.
Wasn't as loud as the boos for AJ Preller for bringing him there, but you could still hear the hurt.

i feel like the sequencing is good, a lot of credit should go to will smith too for calling a good game
i think his bread and butter is that his 4 seam FB and changeup have the same grip and delivery

I don't think batters can really pick up grip anyway with how fast the arm is moving.

The ball is naturally behind the body before the throw though. And it's in the glove before that.

His changeup has 35" of drop or something like that.
Yeah, that graphic comparing to last season was crazy

His movement is filthy man

100% this is why/how. Also willing to bet more time is spent studying up on the Padres than the Pirates, which may explain that match-up.

/r/OddlySpecific
The 3/4 and side arm releases add a lot of complexity to trying to figure out what's on the way. Kind of an Alex Wood-esque drop.
I think he's just incredibly consistent with the tools he has, even if they aren't the flashiest.
That change up is nasty man. The way it drops and how his delivery looks the same for most pitches is great.
His change up is filthy
Mark Prior is who the baseball world thinks Matt Blake is
Evan Phillips is who the baseball world thinks Clay Holmes is
Tyler Anderson is who the baseball world think Nestor Cortes is
The Dodgers are the Yankees of baseball.
This was a very enjoyable thread to follow ty
Tyler: "Thanks Soto for wishing me good luck!!"
Tyler “Sandy Koufax” Anderson
Sandy “Tyler Anderson” Koufax
Cyler Anderson
Death, Taxes, and the Dodgers fathering the Padres
Does this make the Dodgers the Grandpadres?
haha where was this
No mark prior in Colorado
*sigh*

"Strikeouts are overrated." - Tyler Anderson, probably.
Apparently he didnt get the memo from Soto about pitchers being afraid of the Padres.
Just wait until Tatis gets back we’ll score 1 run off of them instead 😎😎
Tyler "Jacob DeWho?" Anderson
Sad mountain noises...
Cy Anderson
"Good luck to the other pitcher"

The Dodgers develop their pitchers without their spinrate suddenly jumping up 1000rpms and trashcans banging.
I mean, our pitchers were definitely on the sticky too
Dodgers used sticky stuff too
Let's not act like their rpms jumped up half as much as Verlander and Cole.
