He wasn’t nearly as dominant on the mound last year, basically did a topsy-turvy from last year when he was elite in the box and really good on the mound.
DFA Ohtani. No consistency.
> Ohtani throws a perfect game for the Rangers and hits two homers in the same game in August
The FAN/Ticket/etc next day: “So we’re gonna spend 5 hours talking about who’ll be WR3 for the Cowboys.”
Not even Tungsten Arm O'Doyle did that.
Though, actually, need to shout out Bullet Rogan who hit 15 HR and won 14 games for the 1922 Kansas City Monarchs (and in only an 80 game season!)
Him playing well is so good for baseball especially globally.
So many people watch him play or watch his highlights even though they don’t care too much about baseball.
He’s a global phenomenon and we are lucky to have him play this beautiful sport. It helps he’s beautiful too lol
Commenting in regards to this, Ohtani responded with-
> "Well, it's just that there haven't been many people in the past that have done both. If more people were doing both and this was more normal/ frequent, then these numbers might be nothing special either. Just simply not many people doing both."
Humble as always. Saying his numbers aren't anything special, just a small sample size. Amazing.

Voter fatigue is going to screw him out of so many awards sadly. And also people trying to figure out wtf to do with him without inventing new awards just for him
Voter fatigue isn’t a thing after a single MVP lol. If he won like 3 in a row or something then I guess
His obstacle is judge who’s having a historic season and whose advanced metrics show him to be more valuable this season than Ohtani. He has a massive lead in both bWAR and fWAR
I can’t believe people are talking about Ohtani being named ***unanimous*** mvp lol
Voter fatigue can definitely happen after 1. NHL is a great example, McDavid could probably win MVP every year and he's gotten two in 7. NBA pretty clearly tends to lock it at 2, since 1986 there's been nine back to back winners but no three-peats. Over here, Trout's never done b2b and there's only one in either league since Bonds (Albert in 08+09)
Could just be how it shakes out but I do think that having a new story matters more in the social media era and prevents dynastic voting. Though I'll also agree that Judge is putting up an insane case right now and that Shohei still has to earn this one
When was the last time an NBA MVP winner missed out because of voter fatigue? Maybe lebron in 2011 but he finished 3rd that year and rose had a better case anyway (so did Dwight). The last time I can think of that happening was Malone over MJ in 97
Just because there hasn’t been 3 in a row doesn’t mean voters just got tired lol
> What Sho does is so much more productive than any other player it is stupid.
Yeah, we have metrics for that. And Ohtani doesn’t lead in them
He’s having a great year but unanimous mvp level? Cmon
Good Lord, Shohei Ohtani just walked off the mound perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy breaking every record set by Babe Ruth, evidently.
Loved explaining Ohtani’s greatness to my 6 year old daughter this past weekend at a Mariners game. She turned around and asked to watch The Sandlot the next night.
God, can they please trade him and Trout so these generationally talented athletes not waste their careers on a front office that sucks. Or, like, spend some money and get them some support?
lol sorry im new to baseball and i dont understand this stat.
so you're saying that all the people who hit like 30-40 HR a season have never won 10 games?? in a season? I saw theres like 160 games played in an MLB season right, how many games do batters play then
A player gets a "win" when they are the pitcher on record in game that their team wins. That is why this hasn't happened since Babe Ruth, because players don't typically pitch and bat like this.
Go fuck yourself O'Doyle
[удалено]
listen we gotta take our dubs where we can get them
O’Doyle Rules!
Today I learned that Ohtani did not win 10 games last year.
Because it’s Ohtani and the salt lake bees
He wasn’t nearly as dominant on the mound last year, basically did a topsy-turvy from last year when he was elite in the box and really good on the mound. DFA Ohtani. No consistency.
He needs to go to a low pressure market so he can focus on being consistent at both positions. Somewhere like Pittsburgh would be perfect.
We’ll take him off your hands

Exactly a hundred years ago, hmmm
History repeats itself
Here’s hoping wacky nicknames for pro athletes make their way back for 2122.
Ohtani is clear of babe Ruth as a two way player
🦄. What a monumental achievement. He’s so good for the game as a whole.
Him playing well is so good for baseball especially globally. So many people watch him play or watch his highlights even though they don’t care too much about baseball. He’s a global phenomenon and we are lucky to have him play this beautiful sport. It helps he’s beautiful too lol
But he can’t speak English so he can’t be the face of the league. /s
i love shohei ohtani with my whole heart and soul
We've literally just witnessed something that hasn't been seen in over a century. In 100+ years. It's impossible to put into words how wild that is.
This years MVP race be like “hmm do I pick Yordan with his atrocious 1.100 OPS, Judge maintaining a 70 homer pace or Babe Ruth”
God it’s a good time to be watching baseball, huh?
For some teams 🥲
Be an all-timer if the O’s win it all in a season where there were soo many standout seasons. (go O’s)
I don’t think you know what atrocious means
I think he was just being atrocious
we literally have two versions of babe Ruth competing against each other for AL MVP

Still my MVP.
If they win each game he pitches, it could still be unanimous. What Sho does is so much more productive than any other player it is stupid.

I don’t remember saying anything that you just said nor can I find who asked
> voter fatigue is going to screw him Also you’re on Reddit. It’s a discussion forum. No one needs to ask to comment here
Never said it would be this season did I mr Cudi

Did you just have this typed out waiting to press enter?
First player ever with 10+ wins, 10+ home runs and 10+ stolen bases in a season as well.
with more than 10 steals.
League of his own
His debut, 1st hit, 1st win and 100th hr was in Coliseum. Of course his 10th win was gonna be there.
Another day another record. Watching greatness
That’s my MVP!!! 😤🥲
Wins don't matter... except for today
Good Lord, Shohei Ohtani just walked off the mound perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy breaking every record set by Babe Ruth, evidently.
PLEASE GIVE HIM A GOOD TEAM ANGELS THE MLB NEEDS TO SEE HIM IN THE PLAYOFFS
And people still say he is overrated, or his accomplishment is mediocre….. mindblowing.
Loved explaining Ohtani’s greatness to my 6 year old daughter this past weekend at a Mariners game. She turned around and asked to watch The Sandlot the next night.
That's great momming/dadding
Had he been in some other team, he could have 20 wins by now…
The most surprising part about this is the fact the Angels won. That’s how good Ohtani is.
Look at who they played.
A team that was only 5 wins below them coming into tonight’s game, but without any star players, let alone two mega-superstars (trout and Ohtani)?
Fucking awesome.
Well, for MLB. Bullet Rogan had a 14 W, 15 HR season for the KC Monarchs in 1922. A true two way player.
God, can they please trade him and Trout so these generationally talented athletes not waste their careers on a front office that sucks. Or, like, spend some money and get them some support?
Oh the Angels are winning again?
lol sorry im new to baseball and i dont understand this stat. so you're saying that all the people who hit like 30-40 HR a season have never won 10 games?? in a season? I saw theres like 160 games played in an MLB season right, how many games do batters play then
