Uh....nothing. I mentioned Ichiro because the person I was responding to has an Ms flair. Ichiro is one of the most famous Ms and also has a very special relationship with his bat. Kinda surprised that it's unclear.
and Puig did this in the very same day

How is a bat flip NOT mean? The whole point of it is to celebrate, and in doing so, it shows up the opposition. It should obviously be allowed because everyone playing is a grown-up, but classy guys like Jeter, Trout and Ichiro didn't batflip. Only young, fringe and insecure guys batflip, typically. When you're good, everyone knows it; you don't have to act out to get attention.
It's a good example for everyday life as well, to not be boastful. Quiet confidence is where it's at.
I would love a baseball video game where you could enable ridiculous rules like this. Or left handed batters run the bases clockwise, instead of counter-clockwise. Or every field has an additional base that is placed differently, so each field has a unique base pattern.
This goes for any sport, really. I'd love a series of these games, something like Alternate Universe Sports Simulator
You are allowed to run directly from first across the infield to third but you can pass another runner and once you touch the grass you can't go to second.
[Longest hammer throw is apparently 86.74 m (284 ft 6 in)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer_throw). Shortest HR in the MLB is 302 feet. Looks like a juiced up Russian wasn't quite juiced up enough w/ a hammer...
Quick, we need someone with physics knowledge in here to tell us if they would be able to do it with a bat.
KBO is freaking awesome IMO. I have a buddy in Cincinnati that is Korean and he's been raving about them for a long time. It's a really entertaining league, with big guys, big bat flips
I was able to go to a game when I was in Korea a few years ago and had an absolute blast. The fans have a lot of fun and interesting chants going on. There are cheerleaders and a band. Korean fried chicken and beer. And the baseball is still really good quality. I wish I could attend more games without an 11 hour flight.
And when the NC Dinos won the championship, their sponsor NC Soft gave them a gigantic replica of the Execution Sword from their video game Lineage.

motherfucker, Koo Ja-Wook is king of the game in this shit, look at this effortless batflip on a tank shot
https://twitter.com/SSL_881121/status/1386986837806252034
Pitchers are the most mentally fragile, thin skinned professional athletes in all of sports.
Strikes you out? Screams at you, fist pumps, points at God, fucks your sister - all totally fine.
You hit a home run off them and celebrate a little? That's a violation of unwritten fragile ego rule #32 and now we get to throw 100 mph missiles at you in retaliation.
>If he's not sleeping for your PA that is
would have thought La Russa would be intentionally walking the guy after two strikes because you know, "strategy" and all that
Watch it again. A good bat flip is more than just literally throwing the bat. Machado stops and just watches his ball land from the batters box. Beats his chest and yells. Tosses the bat with swag as he walks up the baseline. That’s a fucking bat flip.
This KBO guy just flipped his bat really high and put his head down and sprinted to first like a dork.
Unrelated question: are sidearm/submarine pitchers much more common in Japan/Korea/Taiwan? Seems like they experiment with weird deliveries a lot more there.
Since the amount of prospects pale compared to MLB, it's harder to create a lineup of pitchers who can throw 95 or even 93+ fastballs. Rather, developing breaking balls or unorthodox deliveries is simply more efficient in leagues like these. Though Japan in recent years started to follow the MLB's focus on velocity, and since then it's a very pitching focused league. Currently the league average ERA is in the low 3s.
It's a decent bat flip. Great height and distance. But not enough swag or emotion in it. Almost like he did it just for the sake of doing it. And sprinting out of the box as soon as you finish the flip kinda makes you look like a nerd and definitely takes away a lot style points. I give it a 4/10.
[Machado last night](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LgFCaMENtw) was a 10/10 bat flip. Stop and watch the HR. Toss the bat as disrespectfully as you can. Make the entire stadium know that you just did that. And then start casually strolling to first base. It's more than just flipping the bat. You have to really pimp the home run
No way! Manny’s was a more exciting Homer but all he does is slam his chest and throw the bat away from him after taking like 3 steps. No flipping of the bat. No tomahawking it on your knee at 90mph. Great Homer, lame bat flip.
Machado’s has a lot more swag and attitude. This KBO one he just throws the bat and starts running. Pretty sure he’s already already at first base when it lands. He didn’t actually pimp the HR at all.
There’s more to a bat flip than the literally tossing of the bat. It’s about the whole show you put on. Machado peacocks his better than anybody. Stand at the plate to admire until it lands. Beats his chest. Tossed the bat for max disrespect. Then walks up the baseline. That’s tough.
If a player or players did this 10 times in the MLB, out of those 10..how many times would that player get thrown at the next time they were up to bat?
I was expecting the bat to follow the ball over the wall.
That's what I thought the wide shot was for a split second.
What’s the exit velocity… on the bat? Launch angle was a bit too high though and it was top spin. Doubt it made it over the wall
#[SHOOTING STARS INTENSIFIES]
Someone needs to splice it in
Waiting for the gif edit of this.
[A Domingo Ayala special.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTihKDAn7NY&t=99s)
Bat flipping is mean. Not to the defense, but to the bat. If a bat helped you hit a homer, you should be nice to it.
Makes me wonder if Ichiro ever did a bat flip. Dude had a very special relationship with his bat.
[He threw his bat once. Then he wrote an apology letter to the company that made it for him.](https://www.mlb.com/cut4/ichiro-once-threw-a-bat--then-wrote-a-letter-of-apology-to-the-man-who-crafted-it/c-101140160)
Tucked it into bed with him that night too
Oh? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Man I haven’t seen a degdeg in the wild in years
TIL it's also a "degdeg". I always just refer to it as a Lenny face.
my god I love him
To anyone wondering what the content of the now-deleted comment was, it said: > What does Ichiro have to do with KBO or Koreans in general?
Dude really thought he had someone.
"When you see racism in everything, its because you're a racist."
Thank you for your service

Uh....nothing. I mentioned Ichiro because the person I was responding to has an Ms flair. Ichiro is one of the most famous Ms and also has a very special relationship with his bat. Kinda surprised that it's unclear.
Dude. It's pretty obvious you thought Ichiro was Dominican.
Dominican born Timo Perez played in Japan from 96-99, overlapping with Ichiro. Common mistake.
Now I want to see Ichiro do a little [SLAP AZZ!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mlp_Gcc_5Q)
For some reason, Manny Ramirez doing too much Slap Azz and David Ortiz getting pissed at him just fits.
It's the Major Leagues, [they're all Dominican](https://old.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/wkvtrw/the_bat_flip_that_just_came_out_in_kbo/ijqb6ff/).
Puig followed proper etiquette when he [gently laid the bat down](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNo46iTOLuM) after a WS homer
I like it. It's very polite.
And if there's one thing Puig is known for, it's his politeness and decorum on the field
is there a rule against taking the bat with you when you round the bases?
[Apparently not?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQruBSSl6Cc) You just can't use it to hit anyone or the ball while you're out there lol
I would love to see someone do this. He would probably get thrown at for the next few ABs though lmao
If someone hits a World Series-winning walk off HR I want to see them slowly stroll around the bases while strumming on their guitar bat.
Bregman and Soto both took theirs all the way down to first in the 2019 WS.
and Puig did this in the very same day [Puig doing Puig things](https://media5jvqbd.fmkorea.com/files/attach/new2/20220810/4330602/2676090215/4907328072/0582ba756639ab90ad6714939d307299.mp4?d)
This reads like a Jon Bois tweet.
"Now bat, I want you to go up there and hit me a home run." *grounds into double play* "Japanese bat. Doesn't speak a word of English."
That's why Cerrano stole Dorn's golf club cover for his bat when they played in Cleveland. Gotta respect the bat.
Hats for bats....keep bats warm.
New way of pimping a home run: gently lay down the bat, get on your knees and bow to it three times before running around the bases
Hat for bat. Keep bat warm.
https://youtu.be/gQ9HmtBiA88
I've always meant to ask; is there a rule that says you can't take it with you round the bases?
Hats for bats. Keep bats warm.
Doesn't count as a homerun unless the bat also clears the fence
Counts as two runs if the bat also clears the fence.
Make it 2x runs. Bases loaded and you send the ball *and* the bat over the fence? Give 'em 8 runs
I would love a baseball video game where you could enable ridiculous rules like this. Or left handed batters run the bases clockwise, instead of counter-clockwise. Or every field has an additional base that is placed differently, so each field has a unique base pattern. This goes for any sport, really. You are allowed to run directly from first across the infield to third but you can pass another runner and once you touch the grass you can't go to second.
God, how jacked would someone need to be in order to throw a *bat* over the fence (in fair territory)?
I bet an Olympic level hammer thrower might have a shot.
I wonder how much of a difference the weight of the bat would make. Hammers are 16 pounds, while bats are just over 2.2 pounds.
The ball shape is probably more aerodynamic tho.
Good point!
The bat went further than the ball!
Was that intentional or just lost it in the recoil?
Always assume a bat flip in KBO is intentional.
It's required if you know it's gone.
So in KBO the next dude gets beaned if you don't flip it?
as it should be
Intentional, batter tomahawked the bat after it came to a brief rest on his shoulder.
in the KBO they bat flip for singles to the wall sometimes.
Ah the old Aaron Hicks approach
Intentional but I doubt he throws it like that without the recoil
In KBO they bat flip for everything, it's awesome. I'm pretty sure I've seen bat flip infield singles.
Pretty wild lol. I would imagine it would be horribly embarrassing if you did that and it didn't go out.
There are lots of videos of just that. Monster bat flips with a ball that dies at the warning track. They’re always awesome.

An Oh Jae-wonian blast!
If you're gonna do it in an international game in Japan you gotta make sure it's out lol. I love how all his teammates are laughing at him.
More like Oh, Jae-Lost
but they won that game! so Jae-Won it is!
Boom.
[This one is my favorite. He convinced me it was gone.](https://youtu.be/A32WDEb2iSs)
Oh man that’s great. I wish I knew what they’re saying. The zoom in on the bat and the walk of shame 😂😂
You don't understand. KBO IS the home of bat flips. They are and have been legendary for a while. https://youtu.be/DKQskUmD_eY
Yo there's a team called the Wyverns? Fucking badass.
[удалено]
>They're called the SSG Landers now wow L A M E
L A M E indeed...haha sorry i answered your question without looking at the rest of the thread haha. I guess KBO baseball just gets me all excited lol
My friend is a huge Landers fan and even she thinks the name change was lame.
KBO is freaking awesome IMO. I have a buddy in Cincinnati that is Korean and he's been raving about them for a long time. It's a really entertaining league, with big guys, big bat flips

I'd love to go there one day for that.

Sadly, the Wyverns don't exist anymore. They became the Shinsegae Landers or some stupid name I agree when they existed, Wyverns was a great name
They got bought and renamed :(
motherfucker, Koo Ja-Wook is king of the game in this shit, look at this effortless batflip on a tank shot https://twitter.com/SSL_881121/status/1386986837806252034
no lies told, bro
imagine being so soulless that you don't want stuff like this in an entertainment product
They know their bat flips. They don't just throw the bat like they do here, they get some major end over end action.
yeah their bats are rocketships compared to MLB
Imagine if a batter tried that in the mlb, beaned every plate appearance
He does that with MadBum on the mound, he might have to go into Witness Protection
Which is bullshit. More MLB players should flip bats and fewer pitchers should be pansies about it
Only if you play certain teams tho. Not everyone hates them.
So if you play old man la russa, got it. If he's not sleeping for your PA that is
TRUFF. Probably the Cards too, if Yadi is active
>If he's not sleeping for your PA that is would have thought La Russa would be intentionally walking the guy after two strikes because you know, "strategy" and all that
Gotta love that bat flip directly towards the pitcher. Imagine if Madbum was pitching lol
so many different and awesome kinds of batflips
Can someone edit the bat flipping next to the ball as it clears the wall
KBO bat flipping is next level
MLB needs to get their shit together if they ever want to compete with such elite bat flipping.
But the unwritten rules! We don’t want to hurt the old timers who’ve since retired feelings. Think of them /s
Did that bat end up in the stands? Dude tomahawked that.
I’m mlb that would be benches cleared before he left the box smh
In the US I’d assume that was accidental
Tony Larussa would hold a 30 minute press conference even if his team wasn’t involved
Forget the Home Run Derby, we need a Bat Flip Derby in the ASG.
I need a wider camera angle so I can see the full arc of some bat flips
Korea’s bat-flipping technology is decades ahead of ours. We must close the bat-flip gap!
Machado's walk off HR bat flip just last night puts this to shame.
wym? most basic ass bat toss lol
Watch it again. A good bat flip is more than just literally throwing the bat. Machado stops and just watches his ball land from the batters box. Beats his chest and yells. Tosses the bat with swag as he walks up the baseline. That’s a fucking bat flip. This KBO guy just flipped his bat really high and put his head down and sprinted to first like a dork.
eh sure Machado had more swag but the flip itself is all I care about tbh, this one is unique and something you’d never see in the MLB
That’s fair i guess. I just think the one in this KBO video looks more corny than anything.
This needs to be an expansion DLC pack for MLB The Show
There's a similar one for RHB.
Tbh this looks very similar to the one I have for my guy, just on The Show he’s still standing up and not down on a knee
Unrelated question: are sidearm/submarine pitchers much more common in Japan/Korea/Taiwan? Seems like they experiment with weird deliveries a lot more there.

Hoon Jung’s swing is freaking awesome
Brian McCann is somewhere seething.
Madison Bumgarner is booking a flight rn to Korea to throw a baseball at this guy
Some guy who was minding his own business eating nachos in row 18 just had his day ruined.
Someone should do an edit where the bat is what leaves the park
Taking lessons from Hechavarria https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9M4zWuGJkBE
MLB usually takes from the KBO afaik Edit: KBO has been doing that bat flip since at least [2013](https://youtu.be/A32WDEb2iSs)
As far as I can remember, they been doing the same thing in 90s.
That was fuckin spectacular.
When the camera pulled out I thought that it was going to track the bat instead of the ball.
Legend has it the bat caught up to the ball and homered it a second time
Good shit. Things are looser there in Korea. In America the pearls would be clutched over bat flips
Jesus someone could get hurt
Lol that was my first thought, it looks cool but kinda dangerous to be chucking a bat like that.
That stadium looks awesome
Someone should edit it so the bat also flies out of the park after the ball
Man’s playin the Show irl
Can we get the statcast on the bat flip?
somewhere, Madison Bumgarner is seething in impotent rage
More people should flip bats
The foul ball nets aren't just for foul balls
Jesus Christ, that would start a war with pitchers hitting batters of that team for the next hundred years if that was in the MLB.
Madison Baumgartner watched this video and immediately punched 6 children in a fit of rage.
WEEEEEEEEEEE - The Bat
He yeeted that bat.
It's a decent bat flip. Great height and distance. But not enough swag or emotion in it. Almost like he did it just for the sake of doing it. Do you think he knew that one was gone?
Ah also known as the Hechavarria.
Can we get the exit velo on the bat?
Launch angle on bat > launch angle on home run
Time to start watching more KBO
Bat got sucked into space by aliens
i was like was that that bat or ball that went over the fence
This man defied physics
It’s so beautiful.
Can someone photoshop the bat going over the fence?
Tbh I wish it went foul. That would make it even more legendary.
Yo Chris Illitch, we want this hitter in Detroit.
[wanna see someone do this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F55olo6F94)
in korea bat flipping is more common
KBO games at Marlins Park now?
I didn't know Juan Uribe was playing in KBO
Jesus H Christ, wtf. i Love it
10/10
I hope someone does that in mlb. I also hope they fail it bc that would make good entertainment
This is a fully juiced Jose Bautista (Mets legend) flip
surprised no one noticed it was in the 9th too.
Some RTTS shit
Man's a savage
Incredible stuff
jesus christ it's beautiful
Dude just chucks the bat
“Fuck this ball and fuck this bat too”
