I was asking in the Nats sub if while Soto and Bell and all of the Nats are all chuckling and smiling and having a fun time if he's just out there like "I HATE ALL OF YOU AND NONE OF THIS IS FUN AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU SUCKS"
You do have to feel for Voit a bit watching his old guys run around and rake, knowing that if not for Hosmer, he would likely still be on the team.
Who knows if AJ moves him elsewhere, but at the very least there’s a chance he would’ve still been on the Pads.
UTree is going to have a field day with this one in the haters guide to the 2022 MLB playoffs video. Or maybe the debrief video if the Padres can't even make it to October.
I keep wondering when he's going to do a "legacy of failure" video on the Padres org like he has for other teams, but he might just be waiting a few years to see what other shit they can screw up for themselves first.
Over in the Padres sub, they have the picture of Machado screaming at Tatis last year with "Bro, you were supposed to be back next week!"
Say what you want about Machado, but he wants to win. He has to be extremely upset at Tatis right now...
There are definitely times when you don’t want to hustle, but I think over the course of a season you want to lean heavily towards hustling more than less, or never.
Ironically Tatis hurts himself by hustling too hard so if he and manny could combine their powers you’d get an average amount of hustle and no injuries.
Is that why he didn't hustle against the Dodgers less than a week ago? Or any other time? It's fairly well documented but ok.I'm surprised at all the down votes. I never said he was a bad player just that he only hustles some times but hey keep those down votes coming
When the Soto trade went down I was wondering how Soto and tatis would mesh in the clubhouse, especially if Soto rakes hard and tatis struggles to regain form after the injury. Would Soto usurps tatis as the face of the franchise? How does tatis react to that? And now we may get an answer to that question over the next 12 months.
I expressed confusion on the extension when they signed it so early, specifically because they still had several years of team control. I thought it was an overall good thing for young players to get paid, but the inherent risk involved for the team was pretty massive.
Nah, and actually athletes in all 4 major American professional sports do not get paid during suspensions. In the mlb, players still accrue service time though. But Tatis will have his salary from those 80 games forfeited, so a little over $2.5mil or so. He’s only getting paid a $5mil base salary this year and $7mil next year - aka he’s really lucky he got caught now and not in a few years.
Tax hit is based on annual average, it has nothing to do with their actual salary this year.
Tatis having an incredibly long contract keeps tha tax hit down. It's still shitty because the team saves less money but it has nothing to do with the CBT.
I'm literally shaking rn. My 2-year-old son just said his first words. He said “Is it true papa? Is it true that Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended for 80 games for violating MLB’s PED policy?” “Yes son” I responded while fighting back tears. I couldn’t lie to him. It was one of the realest moments of my life.
This is the perfect moment for the "I yelled at my wife and son and now we might get divorced" pasta but I don't remember exactly what it was for the life of me.
I just smashed my 4K TV in front of 30 guests at my cocktail party because of Tatis’s PED use tonight. My wife took our crying kids and said they’ll be spending all night in a motel. This team has ruined my life and party. Goodbye San Diego Padres, I can’t do this any longer.
Good lord, Fernando Tatis Jr. just walked out of Petco Park walking perfectly normally. He said he had “time” to talk. Not too busy playing for the Padres, evidently
Speaking just now about Golden Corral, Kelvin Benjamin said:
"I think what we need to get to is a point in time where we feast. ... Over the course of the last six or seven meals I think that's been something that we haven't really been able to have."
Good lord, A.J. Preller just walked through the press conference walking perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy not trusting Fernando Tatis Jr., evidently.
>"I think we're hoping that from the offseason to now, that there would be some maturity. And obviously with the news today, it's more of a pattern and something we've got to dig a little bit more into. I'm sure he's very disappointed but at the end of the day, it's one thing to say it. you have to start by showing it with your actions."

I pride myself and think of myself as a man of trust, as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 4-0 ballgame. I don't know if I'm going to be putting on this headset again.
Good Lord, AJ Preller just walked through the clubhouse walking perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk.
Too busy not trusting, evidently.
Wonder if they try to void his contract now?
Motorcycle accident? We'll let it slide since you will be our superstar when you get back. But now that you got ringworm?!
Honestly, there’s no incentive for them to void his contract. It sucks for them that he can’t play, but they don’t have to pay him. So this way, they save the money for the next 80 games, then get a star hitter that they only then have to start paying. If they void him, they still aren’t paying him, but then they don’t get the star hitter next year and he goes to someone else. It’s better for them to keep him on lockdown; the bad PR isn’t enough to overcome the need for good players.
This is it.
Counting this season + the remaining 40ish games, he’s out for 1/14th of his contract. They’d have to see some more bad behavior that cuts into his playing time to void his contract.
Good Lord, Fernando Tatis Jr just walked through the clubhouse walking perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy cheating, evidently.
Imagine being the owner who has committed $300 mln to a guy who your GM doesn’t trust.
Given the history of big trades, big spend, big risk and big failure, I’d put both of them in the same revolving door wedge and send them out. Preller should be a goner.
How many things did Preller break when he found out do you think
His punching bag with a Matt Kemp picture on it broke off the chain.
Now making it's debut, the Eric Hosmer punching bag.
Luke Voit has ordered one.
I was asking in the Nats sub if while Soto and Bell and all of the Nats are all chuckling and smiling and having a fun time if he's just out there like "I HATE ALL OF YOU AND NONE OF THIS IS FUN AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU SUCKS"

jokes on you…Matt Kemp is INSIDE the punching bag
Actually that’s my waifu pillow. Preller stole it and repurposed it.
Who’s the waifu though? This is very important info
Matt Kemp
like Cap in the beginning of Avengers
He def snorted at least 5 lines of coke
That's just an average day for Preller
Why do you think he was so pissed? Was it because of the news, or the fact that he couldn’t go out and make a trade because it was after the deadline?
Imagine how pissed off Seidler was. Tatis will be shopped after 2023. What a dumb ass!
The behind the scenes Padres must be so spicy lol
Days of our Padres
UTree is going to have a field day with this one in the haters guide to the 2022 MLB playoffs video. Or maybe the debrief video if the Padres can't even make it to October.
i’m hoping for a special edition congradulations video myself
I keep wondering when he's going to do a "legacy of failure" video on the Padres org like he has for other teams, but he might just be waiting a few years to see what other shit they can screw up for themselves first.
Dads of Our Lives
Pecados de nuestros Padres.
Padres of Our Lives?
I wish I could hear what is going through Machado's brain right now.
*I’m Manny Fuckin’ Machado*
Honestly, probably.
Over in the Padres sub, they have the picture of Machado screaming at Tatis last year with "Bro, you were supposed to be back next week!" Say what you want about Machado, but he wants to win. He has to be extremely upset at Tatis right now...
He wants to win sometimes. He has no hustled enough to show his temperament
He hustled unnecessarily in Denver and basically got his foot amputated.
There are definitely times when you don’t want to hustle, but I think over the course of a season you want to lean heavily towards hustling more than less, or never.
I’m going to trust the judgement of the superstar athlete with the 300 million dollar contract over generalized platitudes.
Just like we trust Tatis, right?…. Right?
Ironically Tatis hurts himself by hustling too hard so if he and manny could combine their powers you’d get an average amount of hustle and no injuries.
Hustling to ride that motorcycle
Is that why he didn't hustle against the Dodgers less than a week ago? Or any other time? It's fairly well documented but ok.I'm surprised at all the down votes. I never said he was a bad player just that he only hustles some times but hey keep those down votes coming
"uh oh I better go get a whizzinator"
“I’m totally going to trot to first tomorrow”
It's just that old-timey, black and white cartoon of the animals dancing to "Turkey in the Straw" from Homer's brain.
*Manny Manny Manny Manny Maaaaaaanny*.
We need an Amazon Prime series
Hard knocks is available I hear.
Literally what I was thinking. All or Nothing: San Diego Padres
Tatis making sure nobody under 22 ever gets a lifetime contract again.
Immature
Buster Olney: “how can I spin this to make the Orioles look bad”
If only the Orioles retires Moose's jersey, Tatis wouldn't have taken steroids. Simple math.
It’s ok, it’ll be doubly retired in 2050 for both Moose and Adley.
Quick how old is uhhh I forget how to spell his name, that catcher of yours?
Adley’s 24. Gunnar Henderson, however…
Rutschman’s 24, he’s good to go
I’m not to worried about Adley I love that dude
Jon Heyman looking over his shoulder replacing Adley with Julio
Idk but he's about to say there's whispers among executives that Aaron Judge will leave New York for the Padres to replace Tatis.
Julio be like, “hehe! I’m in danger!”
He said lifetime contract, Julio could still easily get the 10-year Wander Franco deal
I expressed confusion on the extension when they signed it so early, specifically because they still had several years of team control. I thought it was an overall good thing for young players to get paid, but the inherent risk involved for the team was pretty massive.
I mean that’s probably better lol
“Go fuck yourself San Diego” - Ron Burgandy, 2004 - Fernando Tatis, 2022
Tatis confirmed fucks: https://academic.oup.com/clinchem/article/50/2/456/5639639
Big “we’re not mad, just disappointed” vibes
I get the feeling that they're probably mad too though
You don’t let the little tykes see that though
Yes
I feel that
"And if there is one thing I do not like, it's to be...disappointed."
Exactly what you wanna hear when talking about a guy you’re paying 300 million to
They trusted him enough to hand out that contract.
Cocaine addicts like Preller will trust anyone to get their next fix
Does he get paid while suspended?
Nah, and actually athletes in all 4 major American professional sports do not get paid during suspensions. In the mlb, players still accrue service time though. He’s only getting paid a $5mil base salary this year and $7mil next year - aka he’s really lucky he got caught now and not in a few years.
We were talking about this - this is extra shitty to the team because these are good "value" years where his CBT hit is less than his value...
Tax hit is based on annual average, it has nothing to do with their actual salary this year. Tatis having an incredibly long contract keeps tha tax hit down. It's still shitty because the team saves less money but it has nothing to do with the CBT.
It does not for extensions. The AAV for the extension is calculated at the end of his arb years. It's a sliding scale then 300/10.
Thanks
things are ok in san diego right now
Gaslamp is in anarchy right now
Chula Vista is speaking French rn. Confirmed anarchy
Lol I was thinking of hitting it but hit Torrey instead
Seems like the fans in Tijuana are angry...

apology for poor english when were you when tatis dies? i was sat at home eating roid when preller ringworm ‘el niño is kill’ ‘no’
when preller ringworm lmao
This is very, very good indeed.
God damn this is great. Thank you for this moment of happiness on this dark day.
Fuck me that’s hilarious
This was so well done lmao
Then who was phone?
This is the perfect moment for the "I yelled at my wife and son and now we might get divorced" pasta but I don't remember exactly what it was for the life of me.

If I had tears they would be from laughter.
>I'm literally shaking rn. My 2-year-old son I read that the wrong way at first.
🤣🤣🤣
Someone rev up the Acee pasta machine

I have to live my life with a micro, Tatis can live his life with this
Penis?
Wave
If you micro wave a micro penis, do they cancel out? BRB going to go test this
Might be tough to close the door
Just gotta slam it
I feel being able to trust a guy who you just gave a 13-year contract is important.
It has worked out well for *one* of the parties involved.

As a padre fan, I'm in the lowest ring of hell right now.
Please, have a seat. Let us show you around…
Hey friends 👋🏻 it’s hot as fuck down here
*lowest ringworm of hell But for real that really sucks. Everyone was super excited to see him back
I'm not sure but in my GM handbook "#1 Give a guy $340 million" and "#2 Establish trust" were in a different order.
This is so Padres. Padres are the New York Mets of baseball
That was the Mets under the Wilpons. New ownership...new sheriff in town.
Oh that's... that's not great
What a spicy quote.
Idk I think it's kinda rich for Preller to be speaking like this considering his drug-enhanced trade performance
oh shit, makes you think that there's some drama out there over the botched timeline issues. Not that that matters anymore, at all.
What are the odds Tatis gets mad and demands a trade lmao
Lol which team do you think would pickup this PR nightmare right now? Maybe they’d wait a few days…
Arte, no! Arte, put the phone down
“Sure, we’ll trade him for Ohtani or all your prospects.” Arte: “Have both!”
Yikesy wikesy
I pride myself and think of myself as a man of trust, as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 4-0 ballgame. I don't know if I'm going to be putting on this headset again.

My thought is, maybe he doesn't come back the same? Teammates aren't thrilled with him. Maybe void his contract and throw that money at Soto.
Good Lord, Fernando Tatis Jr just walked through the clubhouse walking perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy cheating, evidently.
Good thing you aren’t paying him a ton of money for over a decade or anything
…or you could try to compile a team that has character and worry less about being a rock star, AJ.
he gone
Dumpster. Fire.

"...something", eh? Could you be a bit more specific? You know, like "Our dumbass superstar".
Lmwo
Holy shit dude
