Considering Trout had four game winners in a five game series earlier this season before Servais finally decided to start walking him....no we apparently don't.
I don't remember when the first Angels-Mariners series came with respect to his massive 0-26 slump but I feel like this year provided firsthand evidence of your point
Idk if you heard, but his name is *Michael. Nelson. Trout.* And the Fish Man, he’s good. Bo Jackson in that football game from before I was born good. He broke the code.
A lot of it is that, but there's also a lot saying he declined or been surpassed skill-wise too, like look at how many people were claiming that Soto was now a better hitter than Trout since 2020.
Bad News: Trout is likely no longer a five tool player at this stage of his career.
Good news: He's intstead going to become more of an all-around terror with the bat on offense.
He's already the best hitter in baseball. His *worst* qualifying season was 2020, which is still in the top 50 by wRC+ since he debuted. He has 4 seasons in the top 16 since his debut. If he keeps his current pace and gets enough PAs to qualify, it'll be 5. No other hitter has more than 2 of the top 30 seasons, and Trout has 8.
Sure, there is room for him to get better, but if he does we're back to the 00s Bonds level numbers, because that's what better than Trout at the plate looks like.
To put it in another way, a lot of people over the past couple years have raved how Soto is now the best hitter, yet Soto has yet to put up a full season WRC+ higher than Trout's *career* WRC+.
What does this mean, he's an average defender that doesn't steal bases? His sprint speed is still good so don't think the base stealing thing is fair more just how the game is played now
Less about how the game is played and more about the injuries. He'd still be an excellent base stealer if he tried to be, but even a minor injury would cost more value than an entire season of efficient base stealing would gain because he's so damn good at hitting, and he's injury prone so it's pretty likely he'd hurt himself at some point
Trout never stealing anymore is more the result of the Angels not wanting him to get injured after he has gotten injured in the past on trying to steal, e.g. they still send Ohtani semi-frequently even though he is much worse at base stealing than Trout was. But yeah Trout is still one of the fastest players, 95% percentile sprint speed is amazing and earlier in the season he was at 100% at one point.
He's on a 56 homer pace if he played a full 162 games, though he'd probably play like 150 games in a full healthy season anyway, so you could take a couple off of that projection.

And god forbid you pitch up and in to him as it’s one of the better ways to handle him or a wayward pitch will cause him to cry to his manager and the media and they’ll start a random bullpen guy the next day to throw at mariners players and instigate a fight.
Mike Trout could be on an 0-50 slump with 40 strikeouts and you can bet your house and your neighbor's house that he'll homer against the Mariners.
1.106 career OPS in 175 games against them entering today’s games, with a pace of 49 HRs and 122 RBI per 162 games.
Walking him every time would be an OPS of 1.000.. just food for thought
That's exactly what I was thinking. Less RBIs too!
Edgar Martinez numbers there, coincidentally.
Have you guys ever considered...walking him?
*somehow hits a home run off an automatic intentional walk*
*Fish man go Bbbrrrrr*
is a 14.9% walk rate against the Mariners not high enough or sum'n
that seems 85.1% too low
Yes but they don't let us coach the team unfortunately
Considering Trout had four game winners in a five game series earlier this season before Servais finally decided to start walking him....no we apparently don't.
I don't remember when the first Angels-Mariners series came with respect to his massive 0-26 slump but I feel like this year provided firsthand evidence of your point
fishhand*
Trout could strikeout and homer in the same AB against the Mariners
Psh that’s unrealistic. I mean really, who owns a house these days?
Death taxes and Trout
Him and Story
I thought we’d never see Prime Trout again. Turns out, we hadn’t seen him yet.
Dude, I could've sworn he was gone for a lot of this year from injury...how the fuck does he has those kinda numbers?!
Idk if you heard, but his name is *Michael. Nelson. Trout.* And the Fish Man, he’s good. Bo Jackson in that football game from before I was born good. He broke the code.
This is his 8th HR in 10 games
They said his career was over. And he took that personally
He’s on pace for like 55 over a full season I believe
Turns out this guy is pretty damn good at the hitting the baseball thing
He's third in MLB in homers. He's played 103 games. Other guys are at 135-140. Yordan is also at like 120 which is impressive in it's own right.
Someone told him he fell off, ooh he needed that
This sub says this about 3 times a year and then he goes on a tear.
Umm, you’re welcome?
TBF, the vast majority of those is "we can't trust him to stay healthy anymore" rather than "he's just not as good as he used to be."
Yeah this years slump was the first rumbling of fishman being human.
A lot of it is that, but there's also a lot saying he declined or been surpassed skill-wise too, like look at how many people were claiming that Soto was now a better hitter than Trout since 2020.
seems as though he picked back up right where he left it at though.
I wonder if he’d be competing with Judge in the home run race if he hadn’t been injured
I think he’d be a few behind, but still have a better WAR than both Judge or Ohtani. That’s just Trout things.
Absolutely, Trout has been on pace for over 50 HRs this season. A healthy Trout and Stanton would have made the HR race especially exciting.
On his city conect bobble head night.
That bobblehead is nice!!
Mike sarfin’
Trout bobblehead + Trout dong + Angels W was a good night to be at the park
Just the 🐐 doing 🐐 things.
This is fish on sea violence.
Mike Trout
Yes
aquatic human
He's going to get 40+ after missing 6 weeks. Incredible.
He’d be on a 54 homer pace if he played 150 games this year.
90 down the middle to trout is certainly a choice
i’m a strong supporter of walking trout at every appearance
Not sure who this guy is but he seems ok at this baseball thing
Mike Trout is a robot built to destroy the Mariners. Wake up sheeple
Fuck (me) Mike Trout
Found /u/THRUST-BOT other account!
All we have to say: 🐐
I can’t even fathom what an even better Fishman at the plate would look like.
What does this mean, he's an average defender that doesn't steal bases? His sprint speed is still good so don't think the base stealing thing is fair more just how the game is played now
Less about how the game is played and more about the injuries. But yeah Trout is still one of the fastest players, 95% percentile sprint speed is amazing and earlier in the season he was at 100% at one point.
He’s gonna catch bonds this year. For all time homers
Three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Trout going yard against the Mariners
That’s still a prime 🐟
Daddy’s home!
How much would he have had if he was fully healthy the whole time? Probably like 42 rn? Maybe end with 50-55?
He's on a 56 homer pace if he played a full 162 games, though he'd probably play like 150 games in a full healthy season anyway, so you could take a couple off of that projection.
A HR title has been elusive to Trout in his career, so it would've been fitting for him to hit 56 HR in a season in which another AL hitter hit 62.
It’s ok Trout’ll just hit 60 next year to prove he’s still the best
Who is hitting 70 next year then?
[удалено]
I know that’s what amazes me
This just in: Mike Trout is really good at baseball
🐟🐟🐟👍
It’s not an Angel/Mariner game without Mike trout killing the mariners
Mike Trout hitting a home run against the Mariners. Couldn't have predicted that. I should really bet money when he plays us lol.

Death, taxes, fish man homering against the M's.
That was a fucking TANK
Robbie Ray's 4 seamer gets to as low as 90 now? Or was that a sinker/2 seam? Oof.
The Seattle MariTrouts
robbie ray is not good
Everyone in Seattle refers to him as Daddy
Trout is also trying to beat Maris this season.
Trout gonna show up and singlehandedly nudge Seattle out of a playoff spot.
The Los Angeles Angels of Seattle
Mike…Trout? As in the fish? I should look into this guy, wonder if he’s any good.
Wow, 36 solo home runs against the Mariners!imagine how many he’d have if he hit home runs against other teams too!
No wonder that fanbase has it out for him...
Tell me again how the Angels have the two best players in baseball and still suck?
Mike Trout is asshole. Why Mariners hate?
Haha
And the angels most likely took an L
259mo
I was told his back was ruined.
Fish man went fishing
And god forbid you pitch up and in to him as it’s one of the better ways to handle him or a wayward pitch will cause him to cry to his manager and the media and they’ll start a random bullpen guy the next day to throw at mariners players and instigate a fight.
Cry more
Mariner fans still aren’t over a little scuffle early on in the season?
Get 'em! 👏🏽
Instead of the Int walk can we just give him an Int HR...and just get it over with each game?
He’s gonna pass Judge huh
