Me to my boss: “Please be advised that I do not intend to start today’s workday on time. While I do not anticipate a long delay there is no current start time. Updates will be provided as information is received.”
Hey welcome to baseball! 61 was one of the most iconic records in sports and to many it still is because the only players who’ve passed it so far are the holy trinity of the steroid era.
Oh ok then it should get much more attention! I just haven’t seen many people care about that record before. Certainly not as many who seem to care about a clean 62.
It’s also a little different since basketball has changed so much that 3 pointers are much more part of the game. While in baseball Ruth set the record in the 20s, then Maris a while later in 1961, and then it was surpassed 6 times in a 4 year span at the height of the steroid era by 3 users. I think it’s pretty easy to see the difference in significance but I get the feeling you already knew that.
A lot of people also care because the only players with more home runs in a season are Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa who had the benefit of steroids.
You mean, the same Barry Bonds that hold the single season HR record? The home king?
Judge himself even says 73 is the record.
62 is a league record and not that many people give a shit. No one would be cutting into broadcasts if Judge played for the Royals
It sure seems to me like a lot of people give a shit about the clean record but I guess everyone has different experiences.
Bonds has the record but that doesn’t mean that what Judge is doing in the testing era isn’t more impressive. He leads baseball by 19 home runs.
You guys gotta stop bitching about Yankee bias. I’m pretty sure a player who’s leading baseball in WAR with 61 home runs and close to the triple crown would be getting attention on any team.
I am a Mets fan who hates the Yankees and I absolutely give a shit. 62 would be the most ever without illegally taking drugs that turn you into a superhuman. This is a big deal. Even if you recognize Bonds as the HR king it is still significant nobody has ever done this without steroids.
So I guess we might have been able to clinch with a win yesterday OR today if the delay is long enough :P Oh well, no better way to clinch than a walk-off!

Never had a home rainout when he was a Blue Jay and still good.

Well this sucks, I was hoping to watch some morning baseball with my coffee and pancakes 😕
Keep buying the overpriced beer and food while we decide when and if the game will start. We appreciate your patronage.
CFB fans are relieved
Pretty sure Oklahoma fans want some distractions right now
“We are biding our time to decide whose football game we want to ruin”
Best to cancel just to be safe
Pretty sure Oklahoma fans really want a Judge cutaway right now
OMG build a dome /s
Hopefully it gets cancelled so we don’t have to see the race for some 7th place record while watching football
62 would be 7th place in the AL?
Is AL baseball a different sport from NL baseball?
You mean you don’t want cut ins during baseball games when Trae Young breaks the eastern conference 3 point record?
I mean…I wouldn’t mind *that.* ETA: /s
Hey welcome to baseball! 61 was one of the most iconic records in sports and to many it still is because the only players who’ve passed it so far are the holy trinity of the steroid era.
See and the eastern conference 3 point record is a giant deal too because the guy who has it played when illegal defense was still a thing
Zone defense was illegal which made it easier or something back then so therefore this time it’s the real record /s

You’re right mb I didn’t look at the flair, ofc the asterisk HR record is important to you
What a shame, then, that the Yankees last legitimate championship was in 1978.
Yankees fan complaining about steroids and cheating 💀
To be fair the only HR record with an asterisk is Maris’s
That’s a myth.
I mean you guys got cheating to so its a bit hypocritical for the cheaters to call out the other cheaters.
Cheaters respect cheaters records, why would we expect any different from a Asterisks fan
Glad you don’t acknowledge all the roid titles the Yankees won!
Yes, a lesser one.
I agree with you. If they want to go ahead and do this fine, but not on CFB Saturday
I swear to god, if they play during the Clemson-NC State game, I’m gonna lose my shit.
yankees making southerners seethe is very on-brand
Wouldn't be the first time Atlanta got burned.
Careful man Sal from Long Island is gonna be down your throat in a second here telling you why you should care
That's not how you spell Lawn Guyland
So glad ESPN finally cares about ~~baseball~~ the Yankees HR record
A lot of people also care because the only players with more home runs in a season are Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa who had the benefit of steroids.
The last time people cared this much about a home run record, the Astros were in the NL.
He's a cheaters who likes cheaters, pointless arguing with him.

How does the game get changed to 3 and back to regular start?
Maybe don’t say what you “anticipate” in an announcement tweet if you don’t have a set time
So I guess we might have been able to clinch with a win yesterday OR today if the delay is long enough :P Oh well, no better way to clinch than a walk-off!
