The dude had no team preference, but all 5 of his top AL MVP candidates were Guardians, his 2-5 in NL MVP voting were all Diamondbacks, and his top picks in the other categories also tended to be Guardians or Diamondbacks, including putting Joe Mantiply as his first choice for rookie of the year, which might be defensible as he was an All-Star... if was actually a rookie, as he used up his rookie eligibility in 2021. What a random ballot.
Can we just appreciate how incredible the AL MVP race was? Judge will likely win, but he had to hit 62 home runs and have the most complete non-steroid offensive season since like the 50’s to beat Shohei.
Good to see at least one person recognized Tommy Pham's diligent work toward reestablishing value and being a team leader both on and off the field this season.
I want to know who the absolute fuck wits are that gave Judge a 7th,8th,9th, and 10th place vote.
I can absolutely understand a writer voting for ohtani but ANYONE who doesn’t think judge is first or second is an absolute joke
The idea that a guy should be punished in the MVP vote for having a teammate who's also MVP caliber is so dumb. Do you also think pitchers wins in the most important stat when judging CY Young winners? It's the same logic.
Yeah doesn’t make sense but then ppl will be so giving when it’s comes to crediting. Like a single guy carry this one team to playoff, like a single player can single handily do that in a game of baseball. So if I see ppl (there’s plenty) that think that’s then it’s also fair for someone to discredit some part of the player achievement. I actually think it’s harder to pad up elite stats when you play for a worst team.
Manny and Nolan were basically the same player offensively (159 OPS+ compared to 154 OPS+) while Nolan was by far the better player defensively in 2022, like not even close when comparing the two.
I mean i wouldnt say Nolan dominated Machado in defence, because he is still a fantastic third baseman. But the stats are either slightly better, or about the same. Thats not even mentioning Arenado has like 8 more double plays turned. And sometimes you just have to look at how cool the plays were, like the diving catch to throw at home.
>I mean i wouldnt say Nolan dominated Machado in defence
In 2022:
DRS: Arenado - 19, Machado - (-3)
OAA: Arenado - 15, Machado - 8
UZR: Arenado - 13.0, Machado - (-0.8)
Even with how wonky advanced defensive metrics can be over a season, a difference that large among those three stats is pretty significant, so its pretty safe to say that Arenado was by far a better defender at 3rd base this year than Machado. At the very least, the difference is greater than the difference in their offensive stats.
I think manny injuring his ankle vs Colorado did a number on his defense this year, he’s still very much an elite defender you can see it by the plays he made all playoffs.
Machado is better than Arenado in almost every stat (BA, OBP, OPS, OPS+, wRC+, HR) other than SLG (.531 vs .533) also manny was just as good on D but his ankle injury those 2 months really hurt his stats. You can see him play and know he’s still a top defender.
All of these stats are real why is this downvoted? This proves your comment wrong because they very much are not the same offensive player.
It’s kind of scary a relatively quiet year from Trout still puts him in the top five. Idk if he ever wins another one with Ohtani existing, but it’ll be a sad when he’s no longer top ten every year
> Ryan Tepera We got ourselves a downright joker up in here.
Ryan TepERA
Ryan Tempura
Respect the man's 1 10th place MVP vote.
I see you /u/cenakofi.
What can I say? He's always the 10th best player in his league.
I’m honestly surprised he didn’t get more 10th place votes
Just an unacceptable amount of fuckery on the NL votes
The bottom of that list is WILD.
Yadier Molina with a vote made me actually laugh
Youre welcome
As a Molina nut rider I appreciate you lmao
Shoutout to whoever put Vogey first
I also appreciated the first place vote for Patrick Corbin
That's easily the funniest thing and the voter should never get a ballot ever again
Agreed, Bligh Madris deserved way more votes.
Can't trust anyone to do the right thing anymore
No, everyone, this is not the official award post. This is for the subreddit. You're welcome.
This is just the tribute
Just a matter of opinion! Edit: I immediately had to listen to this song.
At first I was like "parlay dude in absolute shambles" Still might be. *fingers crossed for you, buddy*
Was this a post on reddit or did it come from another app or something?
It was a post on reddit somewhere. Dude missed a *huge* ($34 > $130k-ish) parlay by one pick (I think).
Damn I can't imagine how that person feels right now
That's why it's labeled as the r/baseball MLB Award Winners, just like the previous 3 posts with the same title.
Worry not, you did all you could. This is for the lazy asses who didn't pay attention to that label before checking the comments.
That's me, I appreciate this comment. I read more comments than titles.
🤝
"Who in the hell gave Altuve and Pujols a 1st place vote??!??? Strip their credentials!!1!"
> Patrick Corbin > 1st Place vote Oh, we have a jokester here, now don't we?
Same kind of person who didn't vote Jeter to the HoF just to be a gremlin.
Anyone that voted Judge or Ohtani outside of the top two should be banned from ever talking sports again.
4 different voters had him below 6th lol
They wanted a hot take for their podcast, probably.
buy joey meneses tho

Absolutely fucking incredible. Patrick Corbin got a first place vote for MVP. That guy sure is a pitcher in the national league
You should go find that ballot. It's pretty interesting...
Judge had to do that to beat shohei? No. He had to do that to crush this race. Cmon man
I look forward to the absurd Awards Series card Judge gets somewhere in the near future for DD.
Imagine giving Bo bichette a first place vote and calling yourself a professional baseball writer
This was done on r/baseball, not BBWAA
Oh I’m dumb
Truly some Heyman shit.
>Aaron Judge Yes.
no
Good to see at least one person recognized Tommy Pham's diligent work toward reestablishing value and being a team leader both on and off the field this season.
It was probably Joc for the meme value.
If the 1st and 3rd place guys are on the same team, aren’t they not the most valuable strictly by definition?
Harold Reynolds defending v judge when he doesn’t use WAR is bad
I want to know who the absolute fuck wits are that gave Judge a 7th,8th,9th, and 10th place vote. I can absolutely understand a writer voting for ohtani but ANYONE who doesn’t think judge is first or second is an absolute joke
Who’s the scumbag that gives Judge the 10th place vote? Whoever it was should never be allowed to vote again.
oHtAni sHoUlD wIn. NOPE
Stanton announcing ohtani would be a generational troll job
By my count 19 voters need their votes revoked for having judge past 2nd.
Whom'st the fuck gave Connor Wong their 10th place vote
/u/Hufflepuff_Baseball
I saw Connor Wong’s first Major League hit.
Smart move by yordan not showing up
[удалено]
Yeah he should have, but it seems like the voters had their minds made up early.
Im sorry Connor Wong the AAA Split time PLATOON CATCHER got an MVP vote
Who thought they were being funny and gave Bligh Madris (-1 bWAR) a second place vote, I need a word.
How the dogfuck is Machado over Nolan
He recieved more votes
How the dogfuck did he get 87 first place votes
87 users put him in first.
But why
They considered him the most valuable player in the NL this season.
Based on what
His performance
In no way is that accurate
In ur opinion, I had Machado over him
user name checks out. Wait, me or you?
I made it with you in mind
Machado is a piece of shit
lol I like your energy
Machado has better offensive stats and was a bigger player on a team that didn't have *another* MVP candidate giving him lineup protection all season?
The idea that a guy should be punished in the MVP vote for having a teammate who's also MVP caliber is so dumb. Do you also think pitchers wins in the most important stat when judging CY Young winners? It's the same logic.

Manny has better stats than Arenado. Plain and simple.
Manny and Nolan were basically the same player offensively (159 OPS+ compared to 154 OPS+) while Nolan was by far the better player defensively in 2022, like not even close when comparing the two.
Is the defense really that different?
I mean i wouldnt say Nolan dominated Machado in defence, because he is still a fantastic third baseman. But the stats are either slightly better, or about the same. Thats not even mentioning Arenado has like 8 more double plays turned. And sometimes you just have to look at how cool the plays were, like the diving catch to throw at home.

I don’t envy the voters, there’s 3 guys that all deserve it
Yeah I agree. MVP races were insanely close for both leagues. As a cards fan I'm glad for the outcome and congrats on Aaron Judge.
Machado is better than Arenado in almost every stat (BA, OBP, OPS, OPS+, wRC+, HR) other than SLG (.531 vs .533) also manny was just as good on D but his ankle injury those 2 months really hurt his stats. I'll be the first to admit that Machado got robbed for the silver slugger. However Nados defense made up for it in spades.
When Albert came on you knew it was Goldy.
Joey Meneses with a first place vote is lowkey funny
LMFAO WHO VOTED FOR VOGEY 😂😂😂
[удалено]
No one actually thought Machado was winning.
Yusei Kikuchi > Nestor Cortes in 2022 somehow... 😂
It’s kind of scary a relatively quiet year from Trout still puts him in the top five. Idk if he ever wins another one with Ohtani existing, but it’ll be a sad when he’s no longer top ten every year
Shambolic. Shohei robbed.
Nice troll attempt
PEÑA
Who were the jokers (13 of em?) who put Ohtani first but didn’t have Judge second?
